With a grin, Ianthe twirls her hammer overhead and declares "YOU are going down! Oh. And you and you and you and you and you and you!"

Free: Berserking (-2 AC; 13 THP for 1 round)
.
Move 1: Challenge uvuudaum + 3 machines + nearest 3 dwarfs. (+2 for challenged foe to hit me / -4 for them to hit others, +3 for me to hit/dam them; 8 round duration)
. . A creature must be able to perceive your challenge to be affected by it. Multiple challenges do not stack; if a creature is affected by challenges from more than one creature, they suffer no penalty against the source of any challenge against them and likewise gain the bonus against the sources of all of the challenges. Creatures with no Intelligence score (Intelligence score of (-)) cannot be targeted by your challenge.
.
Move 2: Spend Martial Focus; start Combat Patrol. Threatened area becomes 55 ft.
. . You may make attacks of opportunity against any creature in this threatened area that provokes one. You may move to bring the creature that provokes the attack of opportunity within your reach as part of these attacks, provided your total movement before your next turn does not exceed your base speed. Any movement you make provokes attacks of opportunity as normal. Associated Feat: Combat Patrol.
Talents with the (zone) tag grant additional effects to this ability. Each patrol may only benefit from one (zone) talent.
. . Steel Hedge (zone) All hostile creatures treat your threatened area as difficult terrain until the end of your patrol.
.
Iron Wall - range 50’ If you possess the (challenge) package, any time a creature under the effects of your challenge attacks an ally within Close range of you (25 ft + 5 ft. per 2 base attack bonus), that attack suffers a 20% miss chance.
If you possess the (patrol) package, allies within the area of your patrol, not including yourself, gain a 20% miss chance against melee attacks originating from a creature that you threaten. If an attack would be subject to both miss chances, the miss chance increases to 50%.

AC 43 (and foes I've challenged gain +2 to hit me)

Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like I can hit all of them with my 30' reach from where I am then? How many are there?

OK, I'll assume that I'm Huge, and out of the field. How close are the enemies? And are some/all of them inside of the field? If so, how far into the field are they?

That'll help me decide what to do. Thanks!

Just back from a 5 day camping trip. I can post later today or tomorrow.

Theater of the Mind could be tricky with Ianthe since she has so many reactions and a very large threatened area, but let's try. I'll try to let you know what might trigger, and you can let me know what does.

Thanks for the update and good luck with your move!

When you're back on line, I have a Q for you that I'm waiting on an answer for before I can post to gameplay:

Thanks!

.
BTW, I'm Huge ATM (and have been since we first stepped into the A-M field.

And I'm at a base hp 207 (1d12(max*2)+9d12(max)+50+25)

Currently at 227 since I've enhanced my CON (or I will return to 227, once we're outside of the antimagic area).

Init: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24

Ianthe--who has been 24' tall since she walked into the anti-magic field--smiles at Brunhild, hammer in hand.

"I guess I'm not too particular about where we do this."

Hehehehehe. I just doublechecked mine. Mine are standard PFS (Max at first, 1/2+1 after). It seems that Silvertail's are too...she's just squishy (d12 HD + 20 CON vs d8 HD + 14 CON). Daunae is all the moreso since she has a class that lets her add 2 ability scores to HP (and this is a VERY high point buy game).

Seb, I'm not so convinced that leveling up will solve the problem you're seeing. Silvertail is made as a caster, and is the squishiest of us, especially compared to the martial tanks. That's common in PF, right? If we level up, we'll have more HP...but the difference between them will remain, unless perhaps she builds differently to catch up.

If you do want to just boost HP, here's an option:
change the rules from (Max at first, 1/2+1 after) to (Max at each level)...or even (Max HDx2 at each level). If that unblocks you, I'm game.

That'll give us more HP. There'll still be a discrepancy between casters and tanks, but that's harder to fix (though, perhaps, a +CON belt for foxy at some point).

I think Silvertail's HP might be off. Is this right?

115 = 80(10d8) + 20(2(con)*10) + 15 (3(archmage)*5)

Seb, do we have a sense of what exactly this emissary is proposing?
(I'd imagine one of our knowledge-specialists can read between the lines if Sense Motive isn't sufficient. I'll confess that with the relaxed posting rate on this game--and me being relatively new to the party--I'm not 100% sure who this is.)
.
BTW, it occurs to me that when I stepped into the antimagic shell, I'd have grown from Medium to Huge, in case it matters soon.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27

Ianthe squints, trying to understand just what this self-important emissary is proposing.

The DC is 25 (listed in Alyln's post)...but if it's within an antimagic field field then, yes, Su abilities fizzle.

Ianthe looks over and chuckles at Alyln.

Yes, we'll let her go.

Ianthe smirks at Brunhild, thinking, I think you and I know what it means...or will before too long.

Seb, you waiting for anything from us?

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (17) + 21 = 38

Ianthe smiles, ready to stop concentrating on the magic that's currently shrinking her, and to allow her longhammer Glory to materialize in her hands.

Perfectly content to go to combat rather than give them tribute.

Hey Sebecloki, I hope all's well on your end.

Any updates on this game?

Is think yes.

If I threw a magic Bane javelin at someone inside a anti-magic field, I wouldn't get the benefit Bane when it hits.
... But if my belt of strength (outside the field) helped me to throw it with more force, that would still work.

Similarly, the thing that has entered the field of just words. They should be just as persuasive as if outside the field. (On the other hand, a Charm spell would fall, since the tagger is in the field).

Sebecloki, you waiting for anythning else from us?

Aid Diplomacy: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32

Ianthe grins at the dwarven guards. "Isn't she adorable when she talks?"

Thanks, Dhaunae!

Do any of those explicitly stack with other bonuses of the same type? If not (since I already have DR 8/- and a +4 enh bonus to my STR) I think I'll take the +4 insight to damage...but if they *do* stack with similar bonuses somehow, let me know.

Re plan, at this point Ianthe doubts fast-talking will work, but she's also (over)confident in her ability to fight her way out of the disaster that'll likely come of it.

With a shrug, nods agreement. "Very good. Time to make some new friends."

Continuing to shrink myself to Medium size (taking concentration). When I stop concentrating on it, I'll revert to Huge.

Ianthe chuckles. "I doubt we'll have to wait to long for our answer.

"While they're off there though, care to share a bit of wine? Dhaunae, you're welcome to some too."

Will wait while the scouting happens

Me too!

Sebecloki, no rush, but wanted to know if you're waiting for something from us right now?

As the final cards are being read

"That's...odd. And fascinating. Thank you. I certainly try to stand between evil and whoever might be in its path." Ianthe says, as Alyln once more starts to drift into the air. "May I return the gift of your reading? The Whimsical Queen deserves a whimsical crown. Perhaps I can make you one?"

When Alyln puts together what the dead troll was talking about, Ianthe's attention shifts immediately.

"The desert has more than it's share of blue dragons." She holds up her hammer, smiling as she displays the electric-blue dragon-skin which wraps the hammer's grip. "I've never met an Ancient before. Only heard rumors...

"I don't know how much this Jailryrrusighoryggysunthorracrunth will be willing to tell us...but hey, I never thought to chat with dead trolls either, so what do I know?

"One thing's for sure, if you're going that way you'll want the Guarding Hammer at the fore."

"Fascinating! It was an earthquake, actually, and not a natural one. An evil mage with an army of titanspawn attacked the village I lived in, starting with him destroying our homes with a massive quake. I drove them off--and rebuilt the homes--but the mage escaped. I've looked for him for years.

"Go on then, I'm curious to hear more."

The (currently smaller) halfgiant sits cross-legged in front of Alyln and begins to draw cards, laying them out as the Sister of Change directs her.

Sir Stingsalot crouches by her knee and watches intently.

I'm just saying that any repeat is the next undrawn card (with wraparound).

1d54 ⇒ 16
1d54 ⇒ 49
1d54 ⇒ 7
1d54 ⇒ 52
1d54 ⇒ 33
1d54 ⇒ 52 - 53
1d54 ⇒ 17
1d54 ⇒ 52 - 54
1d54 ⇒ 52 - 1

"Hmmmmmmm, I'm not sure knowing the future is always a blessing...but yes! I'm curious. What do your cards tell you, O Sister of Change?"

Ianthe would be more than happy to procure a scroll of Haste and cover it with liver pâté, if that helps! ;-)

A tear runs down Ianthe's cheek.

"Friend, I know war and violence may follow you, but that doesn't mean you can't learn to create as well. That I can't believe.

"Maybe brewing? Some fine dwarven ale?" she muses. "I could happily make you the equipment!"

"At any rate, I don't doubt that the Fates have drawn us together for a reason. I'm more than ready to lend my hammer if there are foes that need vanquishing, or innocents who need to be defended.

"Speaking of which, Dhaunae and Alyln and Silvertail, are you done talking with the dead troll? Did he teach you anything interesting?"

DM, did you see Alyln's (spoilered) knowledge rolls related to the Speak with the Dead conversation?

Anyone know Haste? Or plan to take it?

If not, I'd be happy to chip in for a Wand of Haste...though having read the description of Mythic Haste is pretty delicious! (hint hint anyone?) ;-)

Maybe I'll have to look into proposing mythic versions of some of the Spheres spells...

As Dhaunae and Alyln talk to the charred corpse, Ianthe hefts her hammer and swings downward. An ethereal anvil appears where she's aiming, as if formed of pink mist.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

With three loud blows, Ianthe smiths the magic flowing around her until she shrinks down to a mere eight feet in height.

When Ianthe works magic, she works it like she works metal: swinging her hammer (and generating a rousing clamor). In this case, she's temporarily changed her height to medium, with a duration of concentration, costing no spell points.

To Brunhild

Ianthe shakes her head sadly and puts a hand on Brunhild's shoulder. "You, my friend, are not your father. What would you like to learn?

"To write a sonnet? To dance the Sirtaki? To throw pots? Yes, you're a mighty warrior--and there's no shame in that! But if you don't want to be defined by Vangal then fight that as well. I have no doubt you can pierce his influence as readily as you pierced the heart of the Mighty Roc of Haelion."

I dunno. She's a Legendary Beauty. Is there a reason you think she might have been in disguise (or otherwise forgettable) when we first met?

Others I'd rather just say we're meeting now for the first time.

(though as I said, I could whip up a magic spear in little time, if you can plausibly say you don't have it yet.)

She's young but she wouldn't have forgotten meeting an ANGEL (unless, for some reason, you were in disguise or didn't have wings yet or something).

Maybe better to make something now?

Have you used your spear yet, in an important way? If not, maybe you could say you just have a regular spear with you, and you ask Ianthe to make something iconic for you now. Thanks to her Word she crafts at 100x normal speed, so it would be ready for you in a jiffy. (Up to DM if you could get it at crafting cost, but either way it'll be waaay cooler.) ;-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Was a good idea to have Brunhild and Ianthe know each other. And more briefly...I can already this gang will have some fun role playing (to go with some epic roll playing).

"Of note?" Ianthe scratches her stony head. "Hmmmm, I've laid low my share of titanspawn...but as much fun as breaking heads (and other things) can be, I'd like to think that the most notable things I've done have been making things."

She holds out Glory, her shimmering-black adamantine longhammer, with the grip wrapped with blue dragonhide, and it's obviously of exquisite craftswomanship. "This is my pride and joy, and I like to think a pretty fair bit of smithing."

"Speaking of which, Brunhild, do you still have those adamantine arrows I made you, or are you ready for a refill? I still don't quite see why you turned down my offer of some nice armor to keep you from getting stomped on like a ripe plum."

Aha! Thanks, I definitely missed that as I tried to reconstruct the build rules (and how yall converted Godbound -> PF).

Just dropped down to three.

Heeheeheehee. Silvertail, my deep apologies, but I couldn't resist. Should be some fun RP.

If it isn't otherwise apparent, Ianthe's young and (while she has a 15 INT) she has zero points in any knowledge score so she probably doesn't know much about you or your great deeds.

Feel free to recognize some resemblance to Corean if you care to. Or not.

EDIT: also, I think I just today realized (or thought through) that greensting scorpions and foxes are both Tiny. I'd have thought that the former would be more like diminutive...but clearly they're larger than I'd pictured!

Silvertail, Queen of Foxes wrote:

Silvertail glances over at the reunion, rolls her eyes, and sighs.

"How subtle we're going to be," she mutters to herself, then turns back to the questioning.

"Awwww, Silvertail is adorable! I've never seen such a cute fox! SO MANY TAILS!!!"

Ianthe reaches down with one massive finger to tenderly stroke Silvertail's back. Out of Ianthe's greaves crawls a (nearly fox-sized) scorpion. Ianthe sets it down in front of Silvertail.

"Silvertail, Queen of Foxes, this is Sir Stingsalot, King of the Scorpions. Say 'hi' Sir Stingsalot."

The greensting scorpion obediently waives his tail at Silvertail.

Then she turns to Dhuanae and Alyln. "'The Whimsical Queen', I think I've heard of you! I met some followers of yours once: a bit odd, but harmless and generally amusing. Pleased to meet you.

"And Dhuanae, I think you're the first angel I've ever met. How fun!

"What are you all doing here? Apart from killing trolls, and then talking to them?"

As the heroes and their patrons stand amidst the corpses of the trolls, a thirty foot tall young woman with skin like rough amethyst comes loping over the hills. She is garbed in a stunningly made mithral-white breastplate and helmet, and a shield made of black adamantine, filigried with gold and silver to illustrate an anvil surrounded by fire. Her right hand holds a longhammer that's large even for someone of her size, also beautifully crafted of shimmering-black adamantine, with the grip wrapped with blue dragonhide.

With a look of mock horror and reproach, she calls out, "What's this, Blackarrow? You didn't leave any for me, eh? Well, I suppose after last time you were afraid of a fair contest without getting yourself a head start."

The young giant grins and reaches down to ruffle the hair of the much older halfdwarf.

"So, are you going to introduce me to your friends?"

Makes sense to me. Open to other suggestions. My latest thought: maybe Mama and Corean were a monogamous item but Mama did something he couldn't forgive and he left her...or he did something that she thought was too uptight and she left him.

Either way, I think Ianthe knows that Corean is her dad, but has never met him.

Sound reasonable?

We can work out more details, but I think that's enough for me to show up.

If luck's with me I'll get my intro post up tonight.

Hey yall. I have no particular opinion on the mythic caster thing. I'm fine with casters getting Mythic Spellcasting once for free...but then I'm not sure casters need the boost in power any more than martials. Are you feeling starved for Mythic Feats?

(That said, Mythic Haste would be AMAZING(!!!) on Ianthe. An extra Move action can do all kinds of things with her build. Just sayin')

- -

Separate Q (to any interested): I think I should nail down my parentage. I'd initially thought she was the descendant of Corean + a halfgiant who helped him defeat Thulkas...only we halfgiants haven't actually helped him defeat Thulkas (yet).

Now...maybe still a halfgiant + Corean? Would Corean be one (in the style of Zeus, Hermes, etc) to have mortal lovers he impregnated? Because I wonder if he's more of a straight-and-narrow, sex-only-in-marriage kind of God. If that's the case, I might want to pick a different Papa (or Grandpapa). Thoughts?

Brunhild Blackarrow wrote:
At the very least AC45! Congrats, you’ve made someone tougher than Brunhild. Look forward to reading your crunch to see how you did it

Well, Tankier anyway. A Sentinel ought to be. ;-)

The main factors:
+STR to AC (instead of DEX, as you've got)

Mythic Armor Master lets me ignore max DEX to AC, so I can wear armor too, specifically: +3 mithral breastplate and a +3 heavy shield

...and a bunch of smaller things I'm happy to explain if they aren't clear.

Cheers

Great! Ready to enter the story wherever it makes sense.

BTW, one important tidbit I forgot to mention (though it's in her profile): she most commonly is about 30’ tall, though through her inherent magics can shrink back to the 8' height she was at when she reached adulthood, it for that matter shrink to just 2 ft tall). thanks

Hey yall, I've finally got a full profile together, ready for review.

Ianthe is a young halfgiant, raised by a family of halfgiants who were created by the Titans but rebelled against them, and is now living in the desert of Ghelspad.

Her skin is the color of rough amethyst.

I think that perhaps her divine parentage hasn't been shared with her for some reason, though she knows that her abilities far outstrip those of her peers. (Would Corean have a love child? Not sure. If not, I'm open to other thoughts about her Divine origin.)

She's generally quite confident in herself--yet to be truly humbled--and takes pride in her ability to defend those around her.

NOTE, Especially for characters this complex (and she's a doosy!) I tend to build them in a doc where I can save calculations &etc as notes. Here's the doc with notes, if it helps to understand, e.g. how her initiative bonus is +23. ;-)

I look forward to your comments, corrections, and general thoughts.
