Not to alarm anyone, but it's coming. Like, a little less then 2 weeks. I am excited to run my first multi table scenario ever, let alone it being Starfinder. I, just....

Wait, wut? A little over one week to go? Sweet mercy.

The maple bacon bourbon (for science!) is fat washing, the panel is set, GMs are prepping, and my dog is on the prowl for squirrels.

This is truly the most wonderful time of the year.

I'm bringing my Gnomish Champion of Irori and my Priest of Razmir.

I'm sure everything will go just fine.

SkålCon Service Announcement

Oh no! I checked the registrations for the tables that I am GMing, and discovered something... Both of my tables, amazingly, are in danger of falling through.

FRIDAY NIGHT: If you’re not scheduled for the Scoured Stars Invasion special, at Tier 3-4 we have only 6 people registered for 2 GMs. Come, try out Starfinder with a fun GM! We’ll have pregens.

SUNDAY MORNING: Likewise, my Sunday game of Arc Lord’s Envy is also in danger of falling through. There are only 4 people registered for 2 GMs. Come, try out the Playtest with a fun investigative scenario that was practically written for this GM! There are gnomish Venture Captains! Quirky NPCs! A fun and wacky time in magical Nex!

Help me to GM and register for seats at SkålCon!

I am scheduled to arrive at the airport (MSP) around noon on Friday.

a) Is this taxi ride distance or should I be looking at alternate transportation?

b) Anyone else coming in somewhere near that time and want to share a ride?

I'm coming in around 1:30pm. Might be longer than you'd want to wait, but I'll also be looking for a ride. I was just planning on either taking a Lyft or seeing if a friend could get me.

I'm landing about 11:55 on Friday with no checked bags, so I can pretty much hop off the plane and head to the con. Sharing a ride would be just fine.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. There are a lot of people that don’t have their tickets for specific tables yet.

Awesome convention. This is not new; the Minnesota yahoos are among the very best at putting on a convention.

Great to see old friends, and make new ones, and share stories with all of them (and meals with many...Dehning, we're dragging you out with us next time).

This one remains my plan-everything-around-it lodestone convention. It's the leadership, the players, and the community that make Skål Con special.

Hey everyone!

I want to thank all of you who traveled to our little corner of the world this past weekend. It was a great convention that exceeded the goals we set for ourselves. The generosity and compassion of everyone is stunning. I do not have the vocabulary to properly express just how thankful I am.

This year did indeed generate some pretty impressive memories; ones I will cherish forever. Dropping off the donated items at Tubman this afternoon and seeing the reaction from staff reminds me why we do this. The smiles and joy makes all of the hard work so worth it.

Special thanks to Jaye Sonia and Clinton Boomer for creating a gaming experience like no other. Thank you.

Shout out to Jenny Jarzabski for running Solar Sortie for us. I miss you already.

Much love to Thurston Hillman. Your manic energy and passion for all things Starfinder is a joy to behold. Perseverance

I would be remiss if I did not thank Tonya Woldridge for all of the support you give to the community. It is moments like this that remind me just how awesome you are. Thank you.

Big love to the people who made the convention happen this year: Jack, Keith, Erica, Jolene, AJ, and Neal. All of you deserve the highest praise and and all the rewards. Take a bow, all of you. You earned it.

Today marked my 3rd year attending SkålCon and this one continued to prove that this is one of my favorite conventions of the year and a perfect capstone to my convention season. The energy exuded from all the people involved, from the organizers, volunteers and players is exceptional and visitors will have a monumental task in finding a group of more dedicated and passionate Organized Play people than those at SkålCon.

Thanks to Jack Brown and his wife, Deb, for putting me up at his lovely home for the night before the convention and hosting the associated pre-con meetup. It was amazing to see all the people who made it out for that event, including a counting of at 10 Organized Play members with 3-digit player numbers—that just tells you the level of dedication and national reach this convention is bringing in. Also, a big thanks to Jack for putting together a Slot Zero of Starfinder Society #1-98, which I got to inflict upon a whole bunch of volunteers and Tonya.

Thanks to Jon Dehning for being his usual crazy self, along with a solid friend to always be able to talk to. His reaction to my #1-98 game was a real joy and I always enjoy getting to hang out with him.

Thanks to Clinton Boomer and Jaye Sonia, who’ve become my yearly guest companions at this event. It’s always great to catch-up on their lives and pickup the latest Storm Bunny Studios products

Thanks to Jenny and Jon, who made the journey from Texas after I espoused the greatness of SkålCon while hanging out at Gen Con and PaizoCon. These two have been convention co-conspirators for years and it’s great to have another opportunity to see them at another event during the year.

Thanks to my friend Laura, who’s become an honorary Minnesotan after moving to the state and having me introduce her to a bunch of local yahoos... :)

Thanks to Natalie Kertzner who flew out and surprised me for a single day of the convention. She brought cake and danced down the street with me to the tunes of the Venga Boys—so that happened!

To Tonya, for finally getting a chance to come out and see what all the fuss was about! While I work with her on a near daily basis, it’s always awesome to see my co-workers in person and helping out at an amazing event.

BIG thanks to all the people who participated in my four games of Starfinder Society #1-98. The reactions and talks about the game are some of the most invigorating discussions I’ve had. Be it Hillary’s reaction and staunch defense of “not being changed” (still don’t buy it) or the moment Alistair Rigg turned during the game after catching a very small Easter egg and began with “YOU CHEEKY… [something]” it was fantastic and I want to really thank you all for taking the wild ride that is #1-98 with me!

Finally, big love to all the volunteers who helped continue to make SkålCon one of the greatest events of the year and one of the events I personally look forward to most. It’s not a matter of if I’ll be attending next year, it’s a matter of… oh shoot, I need to start thinking about #2-98! :D

It was an amazing and thought-provoking game. The great thing was that it helped Charli confirm who she truly was. Are there going to be changes? Yes, but they’re the good kind.

If anything, Charli is even more committed to her causes — helping people and bringing them in to the Society and the Manifold Host. She is still herself, still intact, still caring and trusting. She just has a driving purpose now.

Charli’s New Purpose (only read if you have played 1-98.):

Seriously, only read if you have played 1-98.

This was my first SkalCon. It was an amazing experience. I got to play Stella, a character very heavily based on myself, in both 1-99 and 1-98.. She's still inherently tied to me, but has been giving new drive, purpose, and determination. She's made mistakes, but is very adamant that it's the scars in her skin that let the light in. And she wants to be that light for everyone else.

I got to play with Jaye Sonia and Clinton Boomer for the first time, having an incredible experience that resulted in Jaye banning me from touching his cards ("we're Dancing with the Dead!"). John Dehning and I properly met at that table, and he and I had a really good rapport. It was largely outside of my comfort zone, but in a really really good way.

I got to play both 1-99 and 1-98 with another one of the authors for 1-16, one Nate Wright. He's an incredible guy and I'm glad to be "dreaming of our future" with another compatriot.

Gary Norton was a great GM and a great player, both when he GM'd 1-99 and 1-20, and when he played 1-98 along with us and our group made an assumption that we really shouldn't have.

Thank you, all of you. This was one of the best conventions I've ever been to, and the community was consistently fantastic. I love the Minnesotan vibe, and I'll be sure to go back next year. <3

As a clarification, as I realize now I worded some of this post wrong: by "outside of my comfort zone," I don't mean that I was made uncomfortable by anyone at the table. I mean that it was a type of game and roleplay I wasn't used to, and expanded my horizons. It was an incredible game and I loved it, just not my typical fare. And that's part of why it was so great. Y'all are awesome

Hello Team,
just wondering if all scenarios have been reported. I noticed one of the two Playtest games I GMed is on my list but not the other. I am fine with the reporting not being complete but if that is not the issue then I should let the appropriate person/s know.

I am under the impression that the lack of Playtest Points is a system issue as that is the case with all three conventions I have GMed for. Sigh.

We didnt get them reported on site - which tends to extend the time to completion. They are over half reported. Almost done
