![]() I'm still here, just had a crazy week with over 400 campers so I've had very little time. Expect a full post either tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for being patient! As for my posting schedule it's usually 1 a day but these days have been hectic. Someone seems to have mentioned Roll20 and I am open to that idea if people want to go that way. ![]()

You're a godsend mate. I've got a live D&D game and then I'll be back to answer up the FAQ. If we're going about this tournament style, I'd like to take the 10 hopefuls if I can. ![]()
![]() First, B'auw will try to move through some of the army, doing his best to locate officers if possible. Easily done. Each two score of troops (40 men) have an officer of some sort wearing decorative armor. It seems that they report to other officers, of which there are around two dozen. You can't make out a clear leader.
Crenelations at multiple floors and murder holes. Ballistas are stationed at the tower's base. The eastern wall seems to bear a slight seam which may be more easily scaled.
Good idea there. You don't note anyone at the base, but around the soliders you notice cadres of robed figures. No one seems to be seeking invisible units. In fact, no one seems particularly on high alert.
The roof would work. A small hillock on the western side could also provide cover and is only 100 feet or so away from the tower. Fifth, he'll check for all entrances to the tower… gate, door, windows, etc. to look for the most likely to give the group a way to get in quickly and (hopefully) without being seen. Main entrance and roof. ![]()

I do not mind you being the owner whatsoever. So, what else do we need to sort out? ![]()
![]() @MacFetus: Distance is 300 ft. 600 troops are currently stationed within sight of the tower but they don't seem like permanents. They've been there as long as you have been at the cave. They are in three formations of 200 or so men at various points around the tower. Enough space is there to sneak through. ![]()
![]() Still here and everything. I had a new idea at work today (Teaching kids to play D&D at camp). To combine both roleplay and good challenges, what would you to say to a Planar Tournament? The strongest champions have united to hold a tremendous contest, including festivities, duels, skirmishes, intrigue and a foul rumor of something dark stirring? Any takers? ![]()
![]() Just as Thak finishes talking, a humming noise fills the air. A score of soldiers materializes in the cave, arms at the ready. Seeing no immediate danger they relax their grips. One of the men steps forward and speaks aloud. "Lieutenant Sarn at your command. I hear there's some tower to take out. What can we do to help?" ![]()
![]() I apologize, the secret door isn't there, Im just using the map to show how the cave roughly looks like. If you relay B'auw's questions by telepathy rose you get the following answer: Around 20 men. Simply a small detachment to watch the area. The majority of the work is up to you, but they are your disposal." ![]()
![]() My word you people blast through post count like monsters. I was setting up the Advancement Table when I realized that it's not needed. We've been debating everything for a while now and this is how I think we should progress: By June 30th
Character Name
This should give me a clear look at what I have to work with. I believe this is a reasonable amount of time. The faster I get this, the faster I can work. @aceDiamond: Removed homebrew setting for the moment as I realized some people may want to be in Golarion/some might not. ![]()
![]() @Seila: You count around 600 individual soldiers moving through the area, all infantry and officers. Weapons include swords, spears, bows and artillery. All are humans and they do look well equipped. The gear is new, or at least made quite well. The tower looks something like this. @Rose: "I'm assuming by now your campsite is secured. We will be sending over a few troops by magical means if you assure us there is both room and sufficient measures in place. They are carrying your missive for the first mission. Read it, then burn it. Are we clear to send the troops? ![]()
![]() 3 games is perfectly fine. One of them is Skull & Shackles and that takes a lot of the creative overload off. For a game of this magnitude though, here are my current concerns: - An epic level game with 4 players is complex. A game where we have I don't know how many applicants might be tough. I don't think making someone create a 25th level character and then not selecting him is fair. - So as to be completely sure of character creation and advancement I will create an Advancement Tracker chart. Applicants will be asked to fill it out so I can at what levels feats are taken, ability scores are increased, etc. I should have it up tomorrow. - As for the adventure itself, the easiest for me would be an epic level dungeon. That's for sure. Everything else requires that much more time. It all depends on what you all want and the time you're willing to take getting through it. A dungeon I can create and run incredibly fast. Anything else will take longer to make and play through. Thoughts, opinions, etc? ![]()
![]() As far as everyone can tell the cave is quite ordinary... no magic or anything. Scouting the area reveals an enemy watchtower to the south with troops moving through its vicinity. Enough fresh game can be caught to satisfy everyone for the moment. I want you all to choose one person who will be designated as the "Receiver" in terms of telepathic communications. ![]()
![]() I am still alive. Work has started and so has my two summer campaigns. FAQ updated. As for the question of "preparedness", me and Razzenmagnus were going to co-GM and he already had a starting point whereas I do not. I offered a plane travelling tomb raiding adventure to seek immortality. Something grand. We're still at the planning stage of course. No aliases are needed for the moment. A link is fine. ![]()

--- As you head through the raging chaos around you, your skills quickly spy a a small wood in the distance. Using the surrounding inferno to your advantage, you maneuver through the smoke and rocks and manage to make your way there. From the trees' cover, you are then able to follow a small brook uphill to its source where you find a small cave system consisting of a few crevices, open chambers and a natural spring... the perfect place to make a campsite. A message sounds again in your head: "We're taking casualties but the airship should fall soon. We'll be sending you a small detachment soon. In the meantime, do what you can to make a secure base and scout out the immediate area. Our scouts are already reporting that Amberfall seems to be composed of many floating islands... though each one seems to be immensely different from the next. While the one we are on seems to be relatively similar to our woodland home, we have reports coming in of a volcanic isle to the west and a frozen tundra to the north... keep your eyes peeled friends. This missions must not fail." ![]()
![]() As you ready yourselves, a horn blows in the distance. The moment has come! The spellcasters finish one last gesture of power and the entire area is bathed in a shimmering curtain of gold. Gazing upwards you see the sky peel away to reveal a new landscape... one suddenly bursting in flames. --- You find yourselves in a valley like area. Fire rains down from above, coming from what appears to be an ironclad airship. Numbers dwindling, the troops are nevertheless swiftly covered in various protective spells and a cadre of mages disappear from view, blinking straight up, followed by cavalry mounted on gryphons. A voice fills your thoughts: "You should escape while you can, that Airship won't relent until we bring it down. I'm guessing the teleportation must have been detected but it doesn't look like they've mustered too many troops just yet. Get to a safe location and we'll contact you once we finish with this hulking mess." --- Survival, Perception, Knowledge (geography) can all help here. Stealth rolls are required, taking the best as the group's Stealth roll. Of course, you can always stay and fight. |
