"For ages, the orcs of Belkzen have been marginalized, subjugated, and vilified, relegated to the rocky northern wastes."
Could someone please send me where I can look to see where this lore is explored? I haven't looked into the region since Giant Slayer book 1, and hope knives did not give me this vibe at all. Most of the information I could find on the region back then painted a much, much, much darker picture than what I am seeing here. Have they released a source book on the region that changes things up or explains things a bit?
For me personally, a book filled with lore of the kind that's mentioned in the product blurb is exactly the kind of stuff that'll help set my GM brain on fire. Holidays, sports events, hell even fashion and cuisine can lead to all sorts of fun adventures, and having descriptions of these events and phenomena is a super fun way to create adventures immersed in setting lore.
Greenlighting this book is one of the best decisions ever made by Paizo, methinks.
I have only been this agonized by waiting for my subscription to ship once before - the month Wrath of the Righteous #1 shipped. The wait is killing me!
Another valuable tool for us has been the use of "sensitivity readers," members of marginalized communities who we pay to review our material before it is released. This process predates Agents of Edgewatch, but I can say that some of the feedback we've received from our sensitivity readers on this project specifically has been enormously helpful not just to smooth over the rough edges for Agents of Edgewatch, but for the entire department as a whole.
I was really hoping this would be the case, so yay.
I rather like the response to the concerns a segment of the player base has raised, both the original answer (owning mistakes, having a clear plan on how to move forward) and this clarification of the measures taken.
A friend of mine has a Core Rulebook for the Iron Kingdoms RPG where right in the middle of magic chapter are pages from equipment chapter then the rest of the magic chapter and the missing pages from the magic chapter are in between the equipment chapter. He bought it from our Local Game Shop...
This sounds more like a printing error than anything else, and it does happen with Paizo's own books as well. Or at least it did once upon a time. Super rare, I imagine, but it's why I always page through my own books, when I get them. Just to make sure that there are no missing or wrongly inserted pages.
Wait, the "wrongly incarcerated primarch"? So here's where Lord Gyr has been all this time?
It's funny how, when hearing the word "primarch", my brain automatically goes to the 41st Millennium and Warhammer 40,000. "So this is where Leman Russ has been all this time?!"
Customer Service got back to me crediting it to a caching issue of some kind. Try using an incognito window or a different browser than usual and see if that's enough.
Yep, switching to a different browser (from Firefox to Chrome) worked. Thanks for the tip!
I'd love to see a book like this feature the iconics, including the iconics from classes that have yet to feature in Pathfinder 2nd Edition. It'd be cool to see them get a multi-page lore-specific treatment each.
For this particular book, I have to say that I'm tickled pink by the lack of stat blocks. The reasoning made by Mr. Loza makes a ton of sense, and it leaves more room for lore.
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? ARE WE THERE YET?!
This may be the most excited I've been about an adventure path since Strange Aeons, and I absolutely love these very specific concepts the two latest adventure paths have presented (detectives and circus members).

Still here, and I'll most likely still be here 12 years from now.
I've found that even when I'm not particularly interested in an adventure path, there's bound to be plenty there for me to plunder for my own games. NPCs, locations, encounters, maps, artwork, backmatter.
My question is: what system should I use? Originally I planned for PF1e, a system with many faults but one I've grown to love. I'll admit I haven't had the same feelings for PF2e yet, but I'd rather support Paizo than WotC. Unfortunately, there basically isn't enough GM support to even try to get started. That's not a huge downside as this is an admittedly huge project that has already been in the works for two years. 5e has the largest player base and simplest ruleset, but it doesn't scale in power the way I need. Plus the whole supporting Paizo thing. I'm currently thinking of hacking my own unpublished system, but that would make it even more niche.
I want to justify using PF2e, particularly to support Paizo as a company, but right now I just can't. So does anyone have any advice? Suggestions of other systems are welcome, as are questions.
I plan to do something similar, writing a Mendev sourcebook and a companion adventure (strictly fan material), and my idea is to go with Pathfinder 2nd Edition. It'll be interesting to learn the system both by playing it and by writing material for it. Two different experiences, I reckon, which will both let me tinker with the game engine in their own way.
So, write to learn?
(I'll be kicking off this project of mine once I get my hands on the Gamemastery Guide for Pathfinder 2nd Edition)
I hope it goes Warhammer 40K style with pcs fighting aboard bioships in power armor. ;-)
One of my favorite memories as a GM was running a Warhammer 40,000: Deathwatch module (I forget the name) where the space marines did just that, as they boarded a tyranid ship with the clear objective being to destroy it. It was the second module in a small campaign (the first module was featured in the quickstart booklet for the game). So much fun.
Paizo stands with the victims of harassment/abuse and condemns those responsible. We've addressed these issues in the past, and our stance hasn't changed. You can read the statement from CEO Lisa Stevens here: Community Guidelines

Hmm. I have thoughts. I'll refrain from sharing them here, though.
I too would like to see a proper response from Paizo on this issue, but I think Steve Geddes has a good point. A direct email (or phone call, for that matter) might be a better option for this kind of thing.
I honestly don't think a thread in the General Discussion section of this forum will have any real effect. The real issue will be muddied down by back-and-forths.
Better to send an email addressing your issues in a direct manner, methinks.
Couatl, Auwaz (CR 6 Large Outsider) - couatl with blue and green feathers
Couatl, Mix (CR 8 Large Outsider) - dark scales with star-like spots and red stripes
Gurgist (CR 6 Medium Humanoid) - Human mortic
Melacage (CR 5 Medium Undead) - Ethereal ball of faces
Pixie Circle (CR 7 Huge Plant)
Nonetheless, my little corner of the Paizo fanbase will always clamor for more flavor.
I'll just join my man Steve in the MOAR LORE corner.
That said, while I absolutely get the reasons for going larger and hardcover for the World Guide line, it probably means I'll have to cancel my subscription to that particular product line. Import tax is a nasty bugger.
I'll still get the books, of course, but from an EU vendor as opposed to subscription.
I'm unsure why the Construct Handbook did not generate as it was supposed to. I have done this manually and marked the shipping free for this additional package. I will ensure that this book goes out to you promptly to minimize the difference in shipping time between this and your other subscription products.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you!
No questions, just gratitude for the work you guys do. Top notch customer service as always!
So I just noticed that the Construct Builder's Handbook was not included in the November subscription package (#7547384). I'm not seeing it in the authorization and shipment mails.
I should've checked the authorization mail for potential issues, but I'm just used to everything being processed as intended.
So, is there a good reason for the book having gone AWOL from my November shipment? Or is it an error?
