Hullo, So I just noticed that the Construct Builder's Handbook was not included in the November subscription package (#7547384). I'm not seeing it in the authorization and shipment mails. I should've checked the authorization mail for potential issues, but I'm just used to everything being processed as intended. So, is there a good reason for the book having gone AWOL from my November shipment? Or is it an error?
POTENTIAL SPOILERS! So we've wrapped up book #2, and one of the rewards given to the characters for defeating the bad guys is a feast in their honor. Tonight is the last session before the holidays, and I'm considering running that feast as a light Yuleesque interlude before we start book #3 in the new year. So, what I'm looking for from you guys is any suggestions you might have for the feast. Anything goes. Varisian-themed food, decorations, NPCs, possible encounters, stories and tall tales, etc. Thanks in advance, guys!
Hullo! For reasons beyond my control, the credit card that was used to authorize this month's subscription package is no longer valid. I have a new card, which I've entered into the My Payment Methods page. I don't know how this affects this month's subscription package, but I felt it wisest to inform you of the change, just in case you can tweak anything before your system registers that funds cannot be transfered via the old card. Kind regards,
DISCLAIMER: This thread will undoubtedly contain spoilers for the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path. Greetings, We're coming up on the final scene of book 1, the execution of Trinia Sabor. My players are dead set on rescuing Trinia at some point before the guillotine's blade falls. They've invested in magic, and one of the characters has even gone so far as to purchase clothing and a mask, intending to become Blackjack. (guess who Blackjack's going to choose as his successor!) Now, the book suggests that the encounter be handled with the players describing how they'll react to Blackjack's actions, and it puts emphasis on a need for it to be more abstract than is usual for Pathfinder RPG encounters. My question to you guys is, how have you handled this in games where your players have expressed a desire to actively rescue Trinia Sabor themselves? Do you have any advice to give? My players have put quite a lot of effort into this rescue attempt, and I'd hate to disappoint them by simply reducing them to bystanders. Still, the encounter does much to set up Blackjack as an NPC, so I don't really want to remove that either.
Greetings, I sent a mail about this on March 16, but have yet to receive an answer. This may just be down to you guys being busy, but I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to mails being lost in cyberspace, so I'll post my question here as well. I recently had Paizo customer service suspend my subscriptions, the idea being that they'll be unsuspended in time for the April shipment. My question is, how soon can I unsuspend and still have the March subscription items shipped along with the April shipment?
Greetings, If you're into actual play pod- and vidcasts, allow me then to introduce CharismaToAC! My fellow gamers and I have have been recording a couple of our ongoing campaigns for the world to follow. At this point in time, you can find two playlists in the channel - Jade Regent (Pathfinder RPG/Danish) and A Song at Tara (Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition/English), and we'll most likely add more campaigns.
So I read this rather disturbing rumor* that the Revisited series of books has been a poor seller, and that, as a result of this, a Devils Revisited book is unlikely to happen. This is a sad development for me as I found Demons Revisited to be an extremely useful book. The half-demon templates in particular were a massive hit for me. With Hell's Vengeance looming on the horizon, I was kinda hoping for, if not expecting, Devils Revisited to happen. If that doesn't happen, and if this is not too late with regard to Hell's Vengeance backmatter, I'd *really* like to see half-devil templates handled in the Hell's Vengeance backmatter, either in one of the bestiaries or as an article on the infernal half-breeds. I realize that this request might be too late for practical reasons, and I respect any lac of interest in making it happen, but I would be a poor fanboy if I didn't at least try. :) *I consider this a rumor as I've not seen any official statement regarding the Revisited line.
Hullo, So I have a question about the "Beyond the Kingdom" sidebar in the mass combat rules. Basically it tells me to substitute a Will save for a Loyalty check if we aren't running a kingdom. My question is, which modifier do I add to the Will save? The army's Will save modifier? The commander's Will save modifier? Something else?
Characters have a chance to perceive a haunt's presence, as per the Spot entry in haunt stat blocks. When is the Perception check triggered? My assumption is that the Perception check's triggered when the haunt triggers. That is, in its surprise round. What's the result of a successful Perception check? Does the haunt not get to go in a surprise round?
Hullo, So I've recently started running the Way of the Wicked campaign Ultimate Campaign is a smash hit among my players and they've asked whether or not downtime will come into play, specifically organizations such as spy networks, cults, and mercenary companies. Now, I've read the first 2 installments of the adventure path so far, and my question for those of you who've actually read the entire adventure path is, how fitting will the downtime rules from Ultimate Campaign be for the campaign as a whole as written? Will there be time throughout the campaign for downtime activities such as building strongholds, recruiting organizations, etc.?
Hullo, I get an error message whenever I click on the link presented in the first post in THIS thread, telling me that I've made too many requests for the same page too quickly. The odd thing is, I haven't. I click *once* on the link and then I get the error message, and my browsing behavior on the site in general hasn't been any different than usual. This has happened on two separate occasions with roughly half an hour between them.
Greetings, Whenever I visit a thread in the Product Discussion section, I get a blank page. Or rather, the thread's gone and any related buttons and links are gone as well. This only happens in the Product Discussion section. The rest works fine, it seems. I'm using Google Chrome 26.0.1410.64 m on a Windows 7 64-bit SP 1 machine.
Greetings, I have a question regarding mundane equipment. I've just GMed a PFS session and during the session the Pathfinders found 2 masterwork studded leather armors and 2 masterwork saps. Now, my question is, would the Pathfinders be able to sell the masterwork items for a profit in addition to the monetary rewards granted for the encounter? Or is such a profit factored into the monetary reward with the assumption being that the Pathfinders sell the equipment? For that matter, does mundane equipment (such as a masterwork sap) follow the same rules as equipment found on the Chronicle Sheets in that, once the scenario is over, you need to buy the sap for your character in order for him or her to use it in future scenarios? I'm actually surprised that I was unable to answer this question for my player and I'm quite sure I've missed something somewhere.
Modiphius, publishers of Achtung! Cthulhu, have launched their Achtung! Cthulhu kickstarter. This kickstarter is all about the Investigator's Guide and the Keeper's Guide to their Achtung! Cthulhu setting. So, if you've ever wanted to bring the horrors of the Cthulhu Mythos into a World War II setting, then you might want to take a look at the kickstarter.
I fear I may have asked this before some time ago but I can't find anything confirming my suspicion. So here goes. Is there any chance we might be able to download images of the adventure path logos as they appear on the covers of the adventure path books (such as the Ravenloftesque Carrion Crown logo or the new Rise of the Runelords logo) as part of the Community Use deal at some point in the future? I ask because I'm in the final stages of creating a fansite for the Pathfinder campaign setting under the Community Use Policy and a feature of that site is to provide news about the setting, including the adventure paths, and I'd like to provide a graphic feel for the news feature.
I asked this in the product discussion for the Rise of the Runelords Deluxe Edition but I figure this might be a better place for my question. I recently asked the best customer service department on this planet to suspend my subscriptions until August 1st as I'll be moving to a new address. My question is, if I preorder the deluxe edition of the Rise of the Runelords annivesary book while my subscriptions are suspended (not cancelled!), will the adventure path discount take effect as soon as my subscriptions are back online? Or will I have to wait until my subscriptions are back online if I want to take advantage of the discount?
Fellow Pathfinder fans, As mentioned in THIS thread, I'm currently in the process of writing a fansite for the Pathfinder Campaign Setting. The site is coming along fine and I expect to be able to put a version of the site online a month from now. That said, I need some content for the site. I've written some stuff myself (mainly articles and NPCs) and have more on my todo list, but since the whole purpose of the site is to be a repository of Pathfinder material that everyone can contribute to, I'd like to know if any of my fellow Pathfinder fans are interested in contributing with some material for the site. Here's what I'm looking for:
Game mechanics written for the setting. If you've written any game mechanics, whether they be feats, classes, archetypes, magic items, spells, monsters, monster templates, haunts, traps, poisons, rage powers, or what have you, and you'd like to share them with your fellow Pathfinder fans, send them to the Pathfinder Repository. Adventures written for the setting. I'll accept hooks (please provide more than just one), side quests, and full adventures of all sizes and level ranges. Articles written for the setting. These can be writeups of organizations or locations, essays or treatises on everything that has to do with the Pathfinder setting, advice on how to run a certain adventure path or whatever else might fit as an article. I do have some requirements that must be met:
If you're interested in helping out, you can send your material to: submissions@pathrep.com. If you do send something, please include the following in the mail: Your full name
I look forward to reading and posting your submissions!
Seriously Daniel, Bjarke, Mads, Morten, and Michelle, stay out! You'll get your own journal soon enough. DRAMATIS PERSONAE
JOURNAL
Shortly after the last person had arrived, the funeral procession began. The heroes had all agreed to be pallbearers. As they and a dozen other people, including priest of Pharsma Father Grimburrow (who chanted prayers to Pharasma in a subdued voice), councilmen Vashian Hearthmount and Gharen Muricar, tavernkeeper Zokar Elkarid, and apothecary Jominda Fallenbridge, entered the Restlands, they were stopped by a group of villagers all carrying makeshift weapons (hammers, pitchforks, etc.). The leader of the group, an elderly man whose name the heroes later discovered was Gibs Hephenus, addressed the funeral procession, claiming that the villagers had decided they would not allow the late professor to be buried in the Restlands as he was a suspected necromancer. Kendra, appalled by the accusation and the rude interruption, argued against the accusations. What should have been a peaceful final farewell to Professor Petros Lorrimor became anything but when Zirul tried to talk some sense into the villagers. Enraged by the stranger’s words, the villagers attacked the funeral procession. In an effort to get away from the violence, Zirul released his hold on the coffin and dashed to the side, leaving his fellow pallbearers to handle the advancing thugs AND scramble to ensure that the coffin would not fall to the ground. The pallbearers succeeded in the latter as they managed to put the coffin down on the ground under a barrage of swings and stabs. Cordelia, the young druid, was not one to let the thugs ruin the funeral. Calling on the forces of nature, she called vines and long grass from the ground, the plants enveloping the legs of the thugs. Spell cast, she gave the thugs a scathing reprimand and they ceased their attacks, ashamed of their actions and somewhat afraid of the power of her mystical powers. Father Grimburrow followed up on Cordelia’s reprimand, demanding that the thugs make their way to the town sheriff and let him decide their punishment. He then apologized to the heroes and to Kendra for the unacceptable behavior of his fellow Ravengrovians and the funeral procession continued. At the grave site, each person gave a minor speech, recalling their relationships with the late professor. That’s when Scar made a strange discovery. There were no rotting scents surrounding the coffin as there should be. Leaning closer and putting a knee to the ground, the Pharasman tried again, disturbed by the lack of rot and the possible reasons for it. Surprised by the ranger’s actions, Father Grimburrow approached him and asked what he was doing. When Scar explained and added his suspicion that all was not right with the coffin and its contents, Father Grimburrow assured him that all was as it should be, that extensive rites had been performed over the body to ensure that decomposition would not happen until the coffin had been buried. To be continued… GM'S NOTES
Having read about Canterwall in Rule of Fear, I decided to use the mist a lot, describing it a couple of times during the session (when the heroes first arrived in Ravengro and again during the walk up to the grave site). I think it worked fairly well as an atmospheric tool. I also made an effort to describe to the players how the villagers were far from ecstatic that they'd arrived with men scowling at them, women ushering children into the imagined safety of their homes, and so forth. Really, the only friendly person the characters met in the first session was Kendra (and, to some extent, Father Grimburrow). As for the incident during the procession to the grave site, I felt that the druid’s actions, and the fact that the heroes managed to hold onto the coffin, deserved a reward and so they were given the Trust Point and XP for the encounter. Scar’s discovery that the usual smell of rot was not present was a result of the Scent feat and the lycanthrope blood running through his veins (yes, he has both vampiric AND lycanthropic ancestors). The player chose to go with the Shapeshifter archetype. The Scent feat would come into play in the next session as well. More on that later.
A couple of years ago, I started working on a fansite for the Pathfinder campaign setting. For various reasons the project didn't get very far. I find myself having the time to dedicate to a Pathfinder fansite and I'm still very keen on the idea. My plan is to create a place for setting-specific fan material, either for adventure paths (side treks, additional NPCs, what have) or for the setting as a whole. It'll contain both crunch and fluff as well as (I hope) modules. My question to you guys is, is there any interest in such a site? Do you guys want a site where you can find material for the Pathfinder campaign setting and where you can submit your own material, sharing your work with your fellow GMs? If there's an interest, is there anything you'd like to see on the site? Any specific features?
Hey there, I posted a thread in the Paizo Products section earlier tonight (the thread was named Artwork Posters), asking about the possibility of purchasing posters/prints of Paizo artwork at some point in the future. I saw the thread posted and now it's gone. So my question is, bug or deliberate deletion?
This may have been asked and answered in another thread but I'm a bit short on time at the moment so I'll take the liberty of asking it here as well. Is there any possibility that we might be able to purchase posters or prints of the artwork used in Pathfinder products at some point in the future? I know framed posters/prints of the Tomb of the Iron Medusa cover art or Craig Spearing's opening funeral procession piece for Carrion Crown would look mighty sweet in any gaming den. :)
Okay so I'm not sure I get how this works. The magus casts a touch spell, intending to make use of the spellstrike ability. Does he then make a regular melee attack against an opponent's AC, adding the effects of the touch spell? Or does he roll a touch attack and, if successful, add the weapon's damage? Wrapping my head around this is a bit hard as the parameters for using a touch and for using a weapon are different. One merely needs to touch an opponent to succeed while the other needs to penetrate any defenses (armor, etc.) the opponent may have.
During tonight's game session, one of my players used a rather deadly combination of Power Attack/Cleave in the same round. After the session ended, one of the other players expressed doubts about the legality of using two feats in one round. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know the answer to that question. As per the RAW, is it possible to use Power Attack and Cleave in the same round or are characters limited to one feat in a round?
I've been skimming the How to Make Weapon Finesse Viable thread (reading it in detail would make my head hurt) and I'm now thoroughly confused about how the feat works. As I understand it, a character having the Weapon Finesse feat replaces his Str with Dex modifier for attack rolls. Does this also mean that he does NOT apply his Str modifier to damage?
Hey there, I'm currently working on outlines for a series of adventures I want to write, and some of the encounters involve aerial combat, specifically involving dragons. Are there any rules for aerial combat or does the Fly skill cover aerial combat adequately? I've read the description of the Fly skill, of course, but I'm wondering if any of you guys have had any actual experience with the Fly skill as part of aerial combat.
Hullo, When viewing paizo.com in IE8 (both with and without compatibility mode on), I get one of those nasty error dialog boxes, telling me there's an error in line 10. The error is as follows: "'top' is null or not an object" Since this seems to an issue with autocomplete functionality (according to the debugging tool in IE8), I assume it's a problem related to your search control. I don't get any error messages in Opera 10.51, Firefox 3.6.3, and Google Chrome 4.1.249.1059, but the autocomplete functionality isn't there. In case you can use this for some reason, I tested this on a machine running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
As you may have guessed, this thread is similar in nature to the one dedicated to the Pathfinder RPG. What's different about this one is that we'll be speculating wildly about the Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting itself and not the rules stuff. I'll go first with my list of things I *think* we'll see in 2011. Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting World Guide - Tian Xia: I'm fairly certain 2011 is the year we'll see an adventure path set in Tian Xia and as such it would make sense for Paizo to publish a World Guide to go along with such an adventure path. Book of the Damned Vol. III: Daemons: Princes of Darkness came out last year and Lords of Chaos is set to be released this year so I'm willing to bet my entire RPG collection (well, maybe not) that we'll see the third volume in the Book of the Damned series in 2011, this time focusing on daemons. Classic Fey Revisited: Well it's about time, isn't it? Guide to the Mendevian Crusades: I admit this is just me *hoping* we'll see a Pathfinder Chronicles book detailing the fight against the demonic hordes of the Worldwound. Possibly to be released along with an adventure path focusing on that conflict? A guy can dream, can't he? So, what do you guys think we'll see in 2011?
Hey there, The title says it all, really. I'd like to hear some opinions on why epic level play a la Epic Level Handbook is broken. I ask because I've never bothered with epic-level games myself and now a player of mine is asking if I'll run an epic-level game. I've heard a lot of people say the rules are broken but I haven't heard any specifics about what it is about Epic Level Handbook that's broken. So yeah, what's your opinion on the matter?
I've been reading through Book of the Damned Vol. I: Princes of Darkness (Hell is cool again!) and there's one thing I've been wondering about throughout the book - unique devils. Now, the book mentions somewhere that the infernal nobility (such as the Infernal Dukes and the Whore Queens) are unique devils and it seems to be implied (to me at least) that the only unique devils in Hell are either dukes, whore queens, or archfiends. Is that a correct interpretation?
Okay, so during our talks regarding the manifestation of my AGCB-related curse, Nick Logue was kind enough to mention that, if I hadn't done so already, I should definitely read Malleus Maleficarum (the nature of my curse has to do with Mendevian inquisitions). My question to you guys is, what oher Real-World resources would you recommend I get a hold of for my Pathfinder Chronicles games? I'm looking for anything concerning mythology, folklore, real-world events (such as the inquisitions), stuff about monsters (demons, devils, vampires, dragons, etc. etc.), and just about anything else that might enhance my GMing. Also, what resources have you guys at Paizo used for your research?
Okay, so I've been wondering about this for quite a while, coming up with some possible scenarios. However, I'm curious if anything official exists that might answer my question. We know that the wardstones prevent the demons of the Worldwound from entering Mendev. But what about other neighboring nations? What prevents the demonic hordes from invading Ustalav, Numeria, and other nations?
Hullo! I've recently started constructing a fansite for the pathfinder franchise. Heavily inspired by the phenomenal Dragonlance Nexus, the goal of this site, which I've tentatively named Pathstrider, is to become a home for fans of the Pathfinder setting and a place where we can all share articles, adventures, game mechanics, etc. etc. etc. with each other. The site is still in its infancy and I've barely started on design. This is where you guys come in. Naturally, the site is going to contain news about the Pathfinder setting and, hopefully, about the Pathfinder community. It'll also feature articles, game mechanics, adventures, etc. But what else would you like to see on a Pathfinder fansite? How would you like to see the gaming section set up? The purpose of the site is to help the Pathfinder community grow and to provide players and DMs alike with tons of material to use in their games. Naturally, I can't do this alone. I have a Real Life and also contribute to the Dragonlance community. Therefore, this site is going to rely heavily on user participation. I'll write stuff but I'm hoping that it'll be a community project, once the site goes live. Anyway, if you have any ideas about design, layout, functionality, features, etc. etc. etc., please let me know! Thanks! Ravenmantle |
