![]() A PC in my group has 1 hero point, 1 hp, and 1d6 Persistent Bleed Damage. By my reading, at the start of his next activation, he will fall Unconscious and become Dying 1. Assuming he fails all of the many checks in the next few rounds, just as the PC enters Dying 4, the PC would use his hero point. I know that gets rid of all Dying conditions, returns the PC to 1 hp, and also means no Wounded condition. Would it also be the end of the Persistent Damage? ![]()
![]() Thre is a mitflit wandering around on some scaffolding 8 feet above the ground. A dwarf PC wants to grab its ankle. The PC strides 10 feet. Should I require an Athletics check to increase the vertical leap, followed by a second Athletics check to grapple the Mitflit? Or, should I assume the dwarf can reach 8 feet and just go straight to the Athletics check to grapple? ![]()
![]() I really liked the artwork and story for the 1e iconic Medium. I was thinking Bard with the Enigma Muse would be the best baseline. I remember there being a conversion guide when 2e first came out that recommended taking Cleric Dedication at level 2, but with more books being out, I think Oracle Dedication is more in keeping with the supernatural and creepy nature of the old Medium's powers. A lot of the details can be worked out from that skeleton. But, I don't know how to get him to be good with the Starknife. Any advice? ![]()
![]() I am planning on starting with the funeral for Lasda Venkervale. He has been missing for more than a year, and is assumed dead. Beforehand, the PCs were each approached by Wrin, who has been reading the stars, and asked them to attend with all of their gear. A small number of kobolds (the last of the Stonescale kobolds displaced by the mitflits) will have been sheltering in the cemetery. Based on my players' conduct in the past, this will likely result in violence, which they will be the only ones equipped to handle. After the kobolds are dealt with, Wrin will gasp in horror and point to the Gauntlight in the distance, which will be clearly lit. Panic will ensue, and Mayor Menhemes (who will be attending the funeral) will ask for volunteers to investigate. Kind of a mixture of Rise of the Runelords and Carrion Crown. ![]()

Has anyone figured out what is going on with this issue? The hard copy book's map is also unmarked. ![]()
![]() I love how 2e got rid of the need for a "big six" set of items. I really love how this encouraged players to give their characters "fun" items. But, a lot of the "fun" items from before the edition change have not been carried over. Are there rules to allow for the creation of new runes or items? For instance, is it possible to recreate a Ring of Jumping? ![]()
![]() So, as I have mentioned in another thread, I am trying to map out the treasure in an adventure. For a group of level three characters, table 10-9 recommends 2 3rd level and 2 4th level permanent items. What about lower level permanent items? Does this mean that the group should not encounter any 2nd level items? Or are lower level items excluded from the list because they are so "behind the times" at that level that sprinkling a few in would not imbalance things? For instance, should all magic weapons at this point be +1 striking and not merely +1? Even if throwing a smattering of +1 weapons in here and there is considered not that consequential, wouldn't it wreck what feels like a much tighter game economy? ![]()
![]() I am working on treasure for a campaign, and I want to include the occasional wand. To be honest, I get overwhelmed by the spell lists at times, however. Is there a list or guide somewhere that someone has already compiled of ideal wand spells? I saw the spells guide over at the Guide to Guides page, and my current thought is to focus on the spells marked as "decent, but situational" (my phrasing). Any thoughts? ![]()
![]() I am thinking about getting back into running pbp games. I am wondering how most of you handle reactions in 2e games. Back in the day, I would prompt a player for an AoO, and would request my players try to avoid some of the more reactionary classes/abilities in the interest of maintaining game flow. But, 2e is different. Many classes have some sort of key reaction ability. Plus, reactions are an integral part of the game's rich tactical foundation. At the same time, I think it would be frustrating to have to frequently retcon lengthy posts because a reaction undoes some or all of the actions made in a post. So, what has been working in your games? ![]()

![]() I know I am late to the party, but I do have a thought on the Goblin PC issue. In Curse of the Crimson Throne, almost all of the adversaries are human. Yet, no one would ever suggest not allowing Human PCs for that Adventure Path. If I recall (and it has been a long time since I read any of the Rise of the Runelords books), there is a tribe of Goblins indigenous to Sandpoint. They dig through the trash at the dump or something like that. Couldn't you just say that none of the goblins involved in the hostilities come from that tribe, which could be the starting ground for the PC? ![]()
![]() 1) I accidentally subscribed to the stand-alone Pathfinder 2e adventures. I do not want to do this, as I am quite happy with the amazing amount of content I get with my Adventure Path subscription. Is it possible to drop the subscription and the copy of Fall of Plaguestone that comes with it? I know how I made this mistake. After selecting the six PDFs for War for the Crown series, I checked my inbox. Then, on a whim, I looked at a couple of additional subscriptions. Apparently, I accidentally clicked on a button to initiate the new subscription, then returned to the order. The screen still only held the total value of the 6 Adventure Path PDFs, so I clicked on Place Order. 2) Also, I have Legacy Paizo Advantage. Should that stack with the 25% discount that expires this evening? I do not think it did, as it looks like I only got a 30% discount on the 6 War for the Crown PDFs. ![]()
![]() I have read the blog posts about playing on sites like roll20. They are great, but understandably they are geared towards people who already know what they are doing, with regards to character creation and game mechanics. Does anyone have a tip for teaching a friend how to play from the ground up in these crazy days? I have always used a paper character sheet in the past (I know I am a dinosaur), but I think the current situation is a sign for me to upgrade my game. Is there a good, free character sheet software that will assist with character creation and tracking of things like conditions? Barring free, is there an inexpensive one? Any insights will be appreciated. ![]()

But I do like knowing what monsters or encounter options are in the region in case I do need and extra encounter. Same here. I generally cherry pick the list for an encounter I think my players will find challenging. ![]()
![]() Does anyone know of a Myers Briggs type of questionnaire for fantasy rpgs? I am the sponsor for my campus' RPG Club, and there will be students playing both 5e and Pathfinder. Several of the kids are new to gaming. I am envisioning something a series of questions like... Do you want to be sneaky? Confrontational? Do you want to blast enemies with magic? Whack them with a club? Then, the answers can lead to suggestions, like good ancestries and classes for the types of characters they want to play. ![]()
![]() My daughter and I had a successful run through S&S with Oloch and Jirelle. I ran Oloch as a purely support character who could on occasion smash a monster. Jirelle took care of everything else (which is what my daughter wanted). There was no overlap/competition for cards. It should not be hard to build more balanced decks for more equally dynamic game play if playing pure support is not someone's cup of tea.
