Bold choice to try and join a game this close to the end of the recruitment period.

That's why if PF2e can loosen up Class Feats (sort them into larger level brackets, for example) and make general feats more impactful (by introducing combat feats), I think PF2e will be well positioned to hit most of the good points of PF1e *and* provide skill customization through skill feats too.

Honestly? I wonder why they need to keep things level locked at all.

Instead of having level locked to such a significant degree, why can't they just have the feats in four different tiers... lets called the 'Trained', 'Expert', 'Master' and 'Legendary'. With the all the feats in the same tier being about the same level in power as each other, giving you greater diversity and options as you level up, until you unlock the next tier in feats, and can select from them instead?

Not sure whenever or not the lower-tier feats should have some form of auto-progression through.

I think that just adding a good sized example of static DCs, as many have suggested already, would go a long way to make the intended rule more clear to everyone.

This. So very, very much this.

... Oh hey David. Fancy meeting you here!

As for my thoughts... near bed time, so I'ma make it quick:

The Rogue ability to phase through walls? That should be level 16 at least, if not level 14, instead of level 20.

See, on the one hand, I really don't like the far extremes. I mean, sure it can be hilarious. But those type of shenanigans isn't exactly the type of shenanigans you would want to allow without a very, very good chain of rolls.

But on the other hand, I would likely have a better chance than to succeed on a 10 or 9 if its something I've really focused on. Like succeeding on a 7 or an 8 where the others would struggle to succeed with at 12, 13, maybe 14. I want a better chance to succeed than what 2E itself is giving me so far, but I don't want to go to the extremes of doing a difficult task on a 2 or 3.

.... Yeah. What else is there to say, really?

Quick Preparation is OP. Even if its a level 14 feat I wouldn't be happy about it in all honesty. This is much more like a level 20 feat as it is, or perhaps a level 14 feat if you have more restrictions on it.

Yeah, I have to agree that the playtest handbook really, really, really needs to focus on making a lot of their terms and jargon a lot more understandable and easier to read, as whilst I didn't particularly have any trouble with making sense of everything, I have to admit that it wasn't exactly the easiest of rulebooks for me to see how everything connections to each other.

Seriously. Formatting is like, my biggest issue so far.

... Yeah, pretty much agreed here.

I like a lot of the system changes, and I have a love for quite a few of the combos that we get... but I really think we're too weak at low-levels and some of the stronger level stuff just isn't strong enough either.

Just, let us do cool things at low-levels as well, and help us flesh our characters out as being different. At the moment, there's just not enough differences between two level 2-4 characters of the same class and same initial start imo.

You know, if you're criticizing people's instances of maths. Giving us actual maths to showcase your points is a good idea.

Okay, I just spent about half a day going over the playtest document and doing my best to pay attention to pretty much everything it has or doesn’t has, and now I have my initial thoughts about it!

- Burn It seems to be the strongest ancestry feat par none. Unless everyone and their mum has fire resistance at high levels. If you want to be a Bomb-Focused Alchemist or a Blasty Mage, Goblin 100% seems to be the way to go just for that feat. Really hope we get over options like it for other classes later on.

- Alchemist. Very strong class. Lots of fun combos and abilities. I like it! ... Nothing more to say, really.

- No god of righteous combat using negative energy to smite down foes? Only way to be a good cleric but use negative energy is by worshipping the neutral god of magic? D:

- Druids are awesome. Wild & Animal order especially come across as awesome. And they still have their summoning capabilities, awesome.

- Fighter. The Open/Press keywords definitely give the fighter a lot more to think about, and are a lot less kid-friendly than before because of it... I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing tbh. Love some of the feat chains though, especially the extra reactions.

- Monk. Really wish the original stances got more focus, instead of transitioning purely into the other stances.

- Why do we only get master and legendary proficiency in heavy armour? Why can’t we get master and legendary proficiency in medium armour as a Paladin or Fighter?

- ... So is the Paladin the new Ranger now? Most of the others give me a strong Favoured Enemy Vibe.

- Shield of Reckoning doesn’t clarify if the Retributive Strike is a free action or not.

- So the fighting gets a free AoO and a free Shield Block if they want to... and the Paladin, despite being the Legendary Shields dude, doesn’t? Or a free Retributive Strike? That seems bad.

- Also, if your giving characters the same feat. Shouldn't you just come up for a term to refer to these feats and have classes able to access these groups? Like 'combat' or 'divine' or 'arcane'?

- Not convinced on Ranger’s Snares.

- Also, where’s the Rangers ‘Your AC can make 1 action even if you don’t command it this turn’ ability? Druid’s have it. Paladin’s have it. Cavalier’s have it. So why don’t Ranger’s have it?

- Also familiar’s suck. Apart from the extra Cantrip, none of abilities for master or not are off any use.

- Sorcerer is awesome, good at blasty and focusing on a single spell. I like it.

- Wizard is surprisingly awesome too. Universalist wizards get an extra spell at each spell level? Which Focus Conservation turns into an extra spell at each level but the two highest? And does Superior Focus just add +1 more use, +1 more use per level per day? Either way. Universalist Wizards be laughing at all this spells they have!

- Also metamagic’s suck. I mean, seriously. Not a single one gets my interest except the -10 resistance once.

- Formatting. For the love of god. Please. Stop formatting everything alphabetically! Have the general feats in one group, then the skill feats organized by skill! Organize the different spell lists by level and type! Organize the different magical items by type! Please, format properly!

- Oh and on the topic of formatting. Clean up the classes, please. We don't need every class reminding us about skill increases/skill feats/ability increases/ancestors feats when their all the same! Please, cut the damn space and leave them in the tables!

- Plus, have the powers that feats grant you displayed in the feat block. Making us go and check the spell, later on, is just frustrating.

- Ritual’s are neat though, and potentially hilarious. Pure Fighter party, coming right up to resurrect your dead folks!

- Multiclassing. Clerics give me 2 slots in level 1-8 spells. Rogue's give me 1d6 sneak attack damage. Seriously, what the hell?

- 100% not sold on Trinkets.

- Why bother with Twin and Charge keywords when only one weapon has Twin and only one weapon has Charge?

- Also Snare’s should not cost gp when normal weapons & armour cost SP. That’s just still.

- Not sure if the lower level consumables shouldn’t be in SP as well, especially the bombs...

- Oh and on that note, sad there isn’t any non-level 1 bombs. Considering Alchemist specified you can only empower level 1 bombs, I was really hoping there was more than just the level 1 collection, but nope! Sad days.

- Really don’t like shield’s needing to be raised. Can’t they give us a permanent bonus, then an increased bonus for raising them instead? Oh and why can’t cover stack with shield AC? That’s just silly.

And there we go. My initial impressions. Mix of good and bad imo, and we’ll have to wait and see how everything unfolds!

Alright, sorry for the delay but here we go!

Man, so tempting to have Nameless add his own two bits into the virility conversation... but he tends not to say too much unless actually addressed.

Sorry for the quietness, I got hit by a sudden curveball that really delayed my responses. Should be able to reply properly today.

Whilst we do have our wonderful stories about our demon princess, that's not actually IC information. Is there any chance of getting a Knowledge check about her?

Actually come to think of it, there is one slight complaint. You tend to only have one level of Knowledge checks, instead of multiple tiers with harder DCs for more information.

Also, it seems that 99% of the posts happen whilst I'm asleep. Timezones are a b!&$#... Still, gotta wonder how long Nameless can stay in the shadows for!

So... Earth was... a Prison?

It did make sense, considering the raw power, fighting prowess and skilled tongues that he had witnessed so far. He could understand why... some of the members could be considered rather dangerous, and in need of control or punishment if their crimes were severe enough. Doubly so if the prison was created and maintained by the Apogee Society as a rehabilitation centre... if any civilization had the ability to make an entire, artificial world as a prison, it was them for sure.

Yet... yet he couldn’t help but rebel against the idea. Rebel against the idea that this ‘Earth’ was nothing more than a prison. That all of the legends, myths and stories that had been crafted within that world were actually memories of the other realities gleaned through their dreams. That all of its people, all of its farmers, builders, warriors, crafters and leaders were either criminals going through rehabilitation, or simply made up by the Apogee Society entirety. As much sense as it made... he couldn’t accept it. Not even a single iota of his being allowed him to accept this as the truth.

Nor did he know why... through with one theory, that was rapidly becoming stronger in how true it may be: That he was somehow linked to this Earth. That he himself had gone through the rehabilitation process before he awoke with no memory and no purpose. It would explain why his emotions were stirring now once more, despite being dead for aeons... and yet, it wouldn’t explain why he was taken out of that world. Why he was removed from it, and what his purpose was...

Through, he had a theory... this world... this Earth... was a world without magic. Completely devoid of it in fact. So much so, that the magical bleed off from the previously very powerful magical beings was enough to lead towards the creation of an entirely new god... and perhaps not even the only one, though he had no way of knowing that himself. He... he wasn’t able to wield magic. He had tried: He has studied it for many years as a wizard, yet he was never able to perform even the simplest of cantrips. Whilst he was a skilled alchemist in his own right, he hadn’t even been able to use the powerful and temporary extracts that other alchemists were able to... heck, he had trained as both a monk and a ninja, yet had never been able to tap into the power of Ki.

Meaning... meaning that this body. This form, despite being far stronger, tougher, swifter, smarter and wiser than your average human being... was one from this Earth... and if that was the case... if he was superior to normal humans... was he meant to play the role as a jailer? Was he the jailer off Earth? The one that was meant to ensure that the rehabilitation process went smoothly and that nobody was able to infiltrate it to extract prisoners before their time? Or perhaps just kill them? He... he just didn’t know. It made sense, but he didn’t know...

What he did know, however, was that this story was only just beginning. Not just because the group he was linked with, were being summoned by Merlin himself... but also, and perhaps more importantly. There was talks of a Seal... and it was linked to the Apogee Society... The Great Sin of the Gods of Weal... there was only one seal that he could recall that was linked to the Apogee Society... if this theory was true... well. Well well well... it would certainly make things... interesting...

Through it was also amusing where he, the guy who had no memory or purpose for aeons, did not wish to reject Earth as simply being a prison. Whilst most of the group seemed quite willing to accept it very easily. Especially Joseph. Wasn’t he shouting about having a sister he needed to get back to, not even an hour ago? Talk about a swift turn around.

Regardless, he made his decision. He would see if he could talk to the Lady of the Woods alone... and follow the group to Merlin. Wherever Merlin was.

Have to admit, I'm honestly impressed by Artemis P's RPing focus. It takes a very bold and dedicated person to play a level 3 characters in a world of level 20 gestalts!

And The Nameless Warrior. Who has yet to reach his full form.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Nameless is probably going to try and make sure he isn't seen by anyone for as long as possible. Shadowing the non-Joseph group (as Joseph's breakdown and shouting means that Nameless doesn't believe Joseph will survive for long), just to see what they do, and likely join them if he is found out (or called out, as he has already been found)

Question. Who did Lucas just go over and talk too? It's not Nameless, as I didn't see a Perception check to actually know that Nameless is even there.

Ah, now when you actually start bringing in multiple worlds and planes. THEN I fully agree there is many he hasn't exploded yet! Through most planes and worlds have heard of him by now.

Not so much a backstory as a short story that just so happens to include the Nameless Warrior, but honestly I feel like this fits him much more than a backstory every would.

Spoiler:
It was a dark and stormy night.

The clouds were out in force, thick and black. Covering the shining stars and illuminating moon, letting only torches and lanterns be the lights of the ground below, all whilst the wind howled and roared like a snarling melee of dragons. Destructive and merciless towards all those caught within their grasp, beaten down the poor mortal fools that braved this turmolous weather, breaking fences and uprooting trees, as well as blowing out many of those flicking flames that were meant to illuminate the ground below. As if this was not enough, the rain poured down from the world above as if several Decanters of Endless Waters had opened up by those who ruled the heaven, swelling rivers until they burst out from their banks, creating lakes where there was once fields, and causing many a muddy paths to transform into boot-sucking swamps that tugged and pulled at all those whose squelched through it.

Yes... only the foolhardy, the insane, or the desperate would be out in this weather... and Jaido Daz, Kennel Master of the tyrannical Prince Rithautvim Starbinder, could very easily be described as all three. Being that he willing walked down from the grim, imposing castle, overlooking the town a dragon overlooking its hoard, despite this heavy and chaotic weather. All so he could join his friends within the warmth of this small town’s tavern. If it was up to him, he would have left the castle hours ago, and already have a mug or two of ale warming his belly. Alas, circumstances meant that if was very late by the time that stumbled into the wide open room.

“Bloody hell Jaido, you look like a drowned rat! And here we thought that the esteemed kennelmaster of our glorious prince-in-exile Rithautvim Starbinder had finally realised that he was too good for us common folk.”

“Ah shut your trap Bader.” Jaido replied good naturedly as he trumped over to join his friends at the hearth. Pulling his soaked gloves off and remove his cloak, hanging them up to try before slumping down in an empty chair. One of the lot shoved over his mug, and Jaido took it with a cheers. Downing several mouthfuls of the ale before slamming it down on the table. “The honourable prince’s prize b#@%@ decided to have her litter a month early, meaning I had to spend hours fightings to keep her and her pups alive. Most of the pups didn’t make it, and the one that did is unlikely to survive the night. Can’t do anything else through, so I left my apprentice to look after the pup and the b~*@%.” With this news shared, Jaido took another gulp of the ale, before pushing the mug back across the table to its owner, relaxing back against his chair and asked with a burp. “So, anything interesting happening in this dismal town?”

At this, Bader grinned and learned forwards conspiracy, glancing around the tavern before speaking lowly. “Some say, that The Nameless Warrior himself is nearby and might even pass through the town!”

Jaido stared at Bader, the older man was well known for spinning tales and telling lies to try and provoke a response from his audience. Yet Jaido had known Bader for years, and felt that he had a good handle at knowing when the old man was making up s$&*... and at this moment, Jaido saw none of those signs, none of the tells that reflected Bader’s delight in tricking others... which only meant he was telling the truth... or at at the very least, believed he was telling the truth.

“Get real! The Nameless Warrior? Coming here? What would a guy like him do that for? You’ve heard the stories Bader, they say he took on a family of eighteen powerful dragons with nothing more than a sling and a stick!”

“Thirteen dragons. Five of which weren’t even Juvenile, hardly a powerful creature.” This new, sudden voice nearly had Jaido falling back out of his seat in shock. The kennel master's head whipping round to stare at the bar in surprise. As he had been sure that there was nobody sitting there when he first came in! Yet regardless of that impression, there was no denying that there was a stranger sitting there in plain view. Head and shoulders above Jaido in height, through his robes made it difficult to judge his build and stature properly. His hair was a dark brown, and as he spared the table a glance, Jaido noted that his eyes were a surprisingly bright, if cold, blue. By his side seemed to be an oddly shaped metal staff, with a device on the top... a device that was wrapped in cloth.

“Nine hells, how long have you been there?” Jaido asked in shock, through he got no answer from the stranger as he turned back to the mug he was nursing. Instead, a man by the name of Hordel answered in his place.

“He’s been here all evening mate, he was there since I first arrived... and your not the only one to overlook him till he spoke. And he only speaks to correct us on what The Nameless Warrior’s done.”

“Really? He’s basically saying he knows the stories better than us?” Jaido said, his skepticism easily read in both his face and tone of voice. Seeing the nods of the others he soon scoffed, asking. “Like what mistakes have we supposedly made that our fine guest has correct?”

“Well supposedly, he didn’t betray Azrael in the battle against Ocrus, the angle backstabbed him during the fight, only he lived and fought back.” Bader took over once more, more than happy to explained what was supposedly true about the tales of perhaps one of the most famous ‘humans’ in the world. “Nor did he defeat Ares in single combat, he only defeated an avatar of Ares, so he’s still uncertain how he would actually compare to a god.”

“I never did believe that story.” Jaido said, only to receive a glare for his interruption. “Sorry.”

“Supposedly he held the Serpent Bank Bridge against the Horde of the Black Sun for eight days and eight nights, not the seven days in which the stories claim. And when faced against the Justicar’s of Asmesha, there was actually nine of them, despite the fact that Asmesha upholds only seven virtues. Also he never did keep track of the amount of different creatures and beings he had slain over the eons of his life, but if he did it it quite unlikely to take an entire week to say.”

“That’s a handful of stories alright.” Jaido said, glancing over at the stranger again, before turning back to Bader with a shrug. “By the Abyss, I have no clue if he’s right or wrong. The Nameless’ Warriors stories are always a jumbled mess. Shame we don’t have him here to answer our questions for us.”

There was a round of laughter at Jaido’s statement, no one believing that such a legendary, nay, mythic figure would ever spend time with such common people, let alone spend so much time answering their likely thousands of questions.

Laughter that was immediately cut off at the tavern door was slammed opened and a troupe of heavily armoured guards strode into the tavern, soon followed by a tall, imposing and ugly figure. The half-orge prince of the region, whose mother famously used magic to disguise herself as a fair maiden and seduced the king whilst he was away from the capital. A prince whose ugliness in physical appearance was matched only by his ugly temperament love for causing pain and misery on to others. A prince that was discovered to be planning to kill the King and take his throne first earning him and exile do the farthest reaches of the kingdom until he had learnt better... Through those who lived in this dismal town know that the exile simply made the prince worse. Behind him stood a being hidden within a black robe, a sorcerer who had come into the prince's employe after his exile. With many people believing that this sorcerer was actually a necromancer of the black ring. From the lack of rain upon the prince's formed as his beady eye swept through the tavern it was clear that the sorcerer has used his magic to keep the group dry and warm as they strode out into the storm.

It did not take long for the prince’s eyes to settle upon his kennel master and his visage to twist into an ugly snarl as he strode forwards, the others in the on the table quickly scrambling away leaving Jaido alone as the prince’s hand swifty found his throat. “Astro is dead.” The prince growled, lifting the choking kennel master up off his chair, hoisting him up in the air as the unfortunate Jaido scratched at the hand cutting off his air flow. “My prize b~~@#, who cared for me even when that bastard of a king and all of his servants and lords didn’t, is dead. And where do I find the kennel master, who is meant to keep her alive? At her side, fighting to keep her alive? No! I find him in the tavern, drinking himself stupid instead of doing his job!”

Lifting Jaido up a little more, Rithautvim slammed the poor kennel master onto the table, scattering the mugs and cracking the wooden table... and nearly Jaido’s back as the prince snarled. “Give me one reason why I shouldn’t drag you back to the castle and have you strung up by your entrails!” Softening his grip, Rithautvim waited as Jaido took several gasps of breath, bother struggling to find the words to save his life.

“M-milord... I-I had done all I could! T-there was nothing else I could do. Astro was just too old, too weak-”

“ASTRO WAS NEVER WEAK!” Rithautvim’s roar drowned out Jaido’s desperate explinations, his grip almost crushing Jaido’s windpipe as he picked the kennel master up. Pulling Jaido up to his face, spittle flying from the half-orge’s lips as he shouted. “ASTRO’S DEATH IS YOUR FAULT!” Seconds later, Jaido was able to breath once more... if only because Rithautvim had thrown him towards the bar with all of his strength. The kennel master flailing in the air, trying desperately to catch something, to do somehow slow himself down and arrest his monument before he crashed into the bottles and jugs stacked beneath the bar...!

And suddenly found himself caught in a grip. A grip whose strength was nothing like Jaido had known before. His eyes slowly shifted from the surprised and startled Rithautvim, to the bar-sitting stranger who hadn’t even turned to look at the commintion, holding Jaito by the scruff off his neck as easily as a pup, before depositing the kennel master on his feet. For a moments, there was silence, the people of the tavern needing a few seconds to realise that yes, this stranger had been able to use one hand to casually catch the flying Jaido, and do so in a way that hurt neither himself or Jaido...

Rithautvim was the first one to recover, and stepped forwards. A horrifying smirk crossing his face as he considered this stranger. “Well well well, what do we have here? A newcomer to the town... a newcomer who has already shown themselves to be-”

“Not interested.” Rithautvim’s eyes bulged as the stranger simply cut him off, not even allowed him to finish his talk. Growling, he strode forwards, reaching out grab the stranger’s shoulder.

“How dare you-” Once more, Rithautvim was interrupted. This time by the stranger grabbing the prince’s wrist. A snapping sound echoed through the tavern as the stranger affixed Rithautvim with a piercing glare, one that seemed to bore through all of his bluster, all of his self-pity and rage at the world. Cutting right down to the spoiled brat who demanded that the world did what he pleased for it.

“I said. I’m not interested.” Was all the stranger said, before letting Rithautvim go. Allowing the half-orge to stumble backwards in shock, nursing his broken hand. For a brief second, Rithautvim hesitated, seeing the clear judgement in the stranger’s eyes... then his hesitation was consumed by rage. What did this stranger know off him!?

“Guards! Seize this man and my ex-kennel master! It seems we need to remind the populace whose in charge around here!” Grinning, the guards drew their blades, advancing on the unarmoured and unarmed stranger, as well as the terrified Jaido... the stranger however, simply sighed and reached for his staff.

The events that followed happened so swiftly that even years afterwards, Jaido struggled to believe that they actually happened the way they did.

With a casual flick of the staff, the stranger knocked the first guard’s blade from his grasp, setting the weapon spinning round so the handle slammed into the guard’s unprotected throat, causing the guard to drop like a stone.

The second guard swung at the stranger with a powerful, two-handed downwards strike. But a simply twirl of the staff had the clothed object intercepting the sword, shattering it in two. Without missing a beat, the broken front of the blade was grasped and driven through the guard’s hand. Slamming it and his hand into the table.

The third darted forwards, trying to follow forwards with lighting swift lunge, and landed a direct hit on the stranger’s throat... yet the blade simply skidded off to the side, and the guard stumbled forwards, unbalanced. Straight into the butt off the staff, launching him back into the fourth guard, knocking both of them back into the wall at the back of the tavern.

Even as Rithautvim, Jaido and the rest of the tavern goes tried to comprehend what had just happened, the stranger’s hand flicked out, spending the staff spinning across the room. Slamming into the black robed sorcerer’s head and knocking him out cold. With the staff then bouncing back into the stranger’s waiting hand. Where he simply placed it back against the bar and turned back to his drink.

He had never turned to face against the guards once during this ‘fight’.

“By the way. Rithautvim wasn’t it? Your father had a spy amongst yours staff, and he is quite disappointed to hear you are dealing with necromancers and demons. He’s on his way here with a small squad of royal guard and battlemages to take you into custody.” Stunned by the swift and devastating defeat off his guards, and the news that the plans he had been laying out carefully and methodically for years was about to come crumbling down around his ears, Rithautvim reacted in the only way he knew how.

Rage.

“MAY THE NINE HELLS TAKE YOU.” He bellowed, swinging at the stranger with a devastating left hook... that had not even closed half the distance between them before the stranger’s fist slammed into his chin in an uppercut that have Rithautvim’s head knocked back...

And with a wet rip, wrenched his head off his neck entirely, the now free bodily part launching upwards until it embedded itself in the wooden roof of the tavern. The rest of his body soon collapsing in a heap on the floor. All whilst the stranger sighed once more and finished his drink.

“I always forget how fragile people actually are...” With his drink finished, he placed several coins on the bar, saying. “This should cover my drinks... and the mess.” Standing up, he headed for the exit. Ignoring the stunned looks that followed him as he went... only to stop as Jaido called out to him.

“Your him, aren’t you?” Jaido’s voice was low, and awe-filled whisper as he began to comprehend just who this stranger actually was. “The one we were talking about, The Nameless Warrior... your him, aren’t you?” Those last few words were less a question, than a statement of fact. To which the stranger glanced back, replying with a mild.

“How else would I know the truth of the stories?” With that, the stranger took his leave. Exiting Jaido’s live as swiftly as he had entered it.

I can't find anything like that at all on the d20srd, can you link them?

Alright. Soooo...

Completed Builds
Dazenth, the Earth's Fury (Fury of the Tempest): Ragebred Skinwalker, Kineticist | Untamed Rager Barbarian | Beastmorph Vivisectionist Alchemist.
Jolgren Flintbeard (Jovich): Dwarf, Physical Exemplar Fighter | Sniper Slayer | Divine Hunter Paladin.
Billybrainpan's Crunch: Nagaji, Sorcerer 5/Dragon Disciple 10 | Oracle 1/Paladin 14 | Warpriest Sacred Fist.

Incomplete Builds
Jace Nailo: Barbarian | Primal Hunter | Two-Weapon Warrior Fighter
inirlan: Goliath Druid | Barbarian | Dragon Disciple.

I believe that's it so far? Either way, quite a bit of overlap. Three Barbarians, two Dragon Disciples and two Paladins...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

XD, that wouldn't surprise me in all honesty!

Alright, quick question.

Who is still interested in this?

There's me. With my Kineticst | Barbarian | Alchemist
There's inirlan with their Druid | Barbarian | Dragon Disciple.
There's Jovich with their Fighter | Slayer | Paladin ranged build.

Aaaaaaand... that's all I know so far. I'm hoping that HedwickTheWorldly's advice to inirlan means their still interested (and that I apologized for my attitude). Their Bard | Geokineticist | Paladin build would really help round out the buffing options, as well as give us another ranged character for a solid 2/2 split...

Who else is still around and interested? And what are you going for character wise?

Sorry for the delay, Paizo was down a lot today...

Also, before I post this, in case people didn't notice: Sphere's of Might has had a significant overhaul this week. The 'Dedication' feature has been flat-out removed. Please ensure you are aware of the changes this might have with your chararcter

With that out of the way:

1. Young, optimistic gunsmith and amateur gunslinger. Hopes to revolutionise firearms and firearm fighting.

A brief explanation of the setting as I am envisioning it. Guns are Advanced because we have move 50 years into the future of the Timeline.

The events of IronFang Invasion led to a destructive explosion that wiped out Nirmathas and caused great devastation to the surrounding lands. This explosion in turn freed the Whispering Tyrant from his prison.

The burgeoning Kingdom of the Freelands (Kingmaker) recognized the dangers as the Orcs commanded by the Tyrant once again invaded much of Ustalav with what appeared to be the intent of heading even farther east. The new Council journeyed into Numeria seeking weapons with which to combat the evils of the Tyrant now that much of the strength of Lastwall was spent. There they discovered that Firearms could be produced on a mass scale, if the investment was made.

With the aid of the King of Brevoy the furnaces began to churn out firearms and gunpowder on a massive scale. These weapons turned the tide and pushed the invaders back into the Hold and the Gallowspires. This did not of course come without great loss of life and resources and was a long struggle which ended only recently.

Then the creatures came... invaders from Numeria into the Freelands. Another war the young Kingdom could not afford. With the heroes who founded it old beyond their adventuring years, they will need new heroes to aid them and investigate why their neighbors from the north are invading and if they are not, what exactly is taking place.

First of course, they will need to clear out the creatures that have come south looking for trouble...

Thank you. Thank you very, very much. This is exactly what I needed to write my background.

And named after Paladine's disguise during the Dragonlance saga.

... So I should make an alias huh...?

I suppose I should learn how to do so yeah.

Anyway, I'm thinking of doing a charmastic leader type, probably Rubato on one side, not sure about the other. Its either going to be Enlightend Paladin, Warlord or Swashbuckler... If its Enlightend Paladin, I'll likely go for a Kamina like character with Peform (Oratory) as one of my skills. But that might be a bit cliche...

Right. Normal initator's can't mount up and use stances, but mounted initator's are trained for it, so they don't have that weakness. Sounds completely fair to me!

Okay so, here we go! Reviewing every single feat in the feat document! Going to make one post with just the generic feats, and another one with all the style feats... you know, less of a big read?

Spoiler:
As others have said, Agile Dancer is more of a trait than a feat. It might seem quite powerful for a trait, but there are other traits which let you use a different ability for a skill bonus already, Student of Philosophy is the most prominent of these, and I think Agile Dancer, letting you use Dance in place of Acrobatics is only just equal to it.

Animus Healing is a good feat, the fact that an encounter only technically ends 10 rounds after the last enemy, means that it can still be used for a top-up, as well as an emergency OH MY GOD I NEED MORE HEALTH ability. That being said... it doesn’t really scale that well. 10d4 health, isn’t exactly useful at level 20, as that’s the amount of damage 1 attack heals... maybe at every 10 IL, you double the healing dice Animuns point or something? Give it better scaling?

I do like Battle Fevour, as it really helps out Paladin’s and Warpriests... however, it does strike me that Initiating Paladin’s, actually lose their lay on hands feature... so, they can’t actually use this ability. Maybe there should be a Special caveat for Paladin’s who take the Path of War Expanded Archetype.

Blight Flight is good, if mean. Especially when combined with Malevolence. A Harbringer can easily pick those two feats up, and inflict an enemy with a -2 to saving throws against their maneuvers. A potent combination... but not a game ending combination. I also like seeing feats work together.

Channeled Recovery gives Channel Energy actual use at higher end levels, especially when you're playing with an initiating party, and at early levels when its healing is still useful, you don’t lose all of it either! But I go to point out that it has the exact same problem as Battle Fevour does... Knight Disciple can’t use it at all!

Dark Allure and Dark Authority are both excellent abilities. Ramping up as you go up levels, and lets you claim enemies for long, and thus have more enemies claimed at once. Works amazing with Grasp of Darkness to give 3 enemies a -3 attack penalty at the cost of just a swift action... but whilst we’re on it. Does Dark Allure and Dark Authority, and the other claiming abilities, work with the Soul Hunter Stalker, and its Soul Claiming Ability? That is claiming people, right?

Talking about that, Dark Presence would work much better for the Soul Hunter, as it would really let them focus down on one enemy... of course, it always works wonders for a Harbinger... especially one with a Warder dip to really get use out of intelligence. Their Voices in the Dark ability will really like this.

Silver Fang Initiate is a GODSEND. Especially if you go for the Mirthal Style feat-line and get the final feat! With the fact that Steel Serpent is going to be getting a rework, along with this feet makes me really hopeful that ability damage and poison is actually going to be an effective fighting style at later levels!

Electrum Manticore meanwhile, is an amazing way to boost your action economy especially with the fact that it encourages you to use boosts and stance switch is an encouraging sign imo. Because honestly, apart from a few cases, I see myself sticking to one/two stances per encounter.

Elements as One... yeah. Staple for the Mystic. Nothing else to say.

Elemental Current is another amazing combo feat, and I can easily see a Rubato bard picking this feat up. Whilst I seriously think there is too many Mithral Current maneuvers that simply give you a silvered weapon instead of vulnerability to silver, especially at higher levels. This is still an excellent feat... even if the nova properties of this with Element Flux is rather insane!

Elemental Focus is more thematic than anything. as with Elements as One, its not really necessary anymore. That being said, it does work well with say, Solar Wind and the Phoenix Champion. Lets you really start using your fire damage to burn even beings made of fire, which is an awesome feeling. So, whilst its not the strongest feat, I like it!

I really love the rework to Elemental Sun, along with Elemental Focus it's a great way to focus on a single element. Not only does it really let you start cutting down on energy resistance, but it works even better when you're with a party that also has an element focus! Even better if they have the feat as well! Even if it doesn’t stack.

Enduring Protector I’m iffy on... unless you're facing against a horde of minions, I honestly don’t see this being used much, if at all. I do agree that it needs the caveat of being equal the slain enemies hit die, or the highest amount of THP you can get Martial Power, that way it is useful against a horde of minions.

Eternal Hourglass is simply AMAZING. I do think it needs to be hard limited at /encounter due to the sheer power it has, but at the same time, it is restricted, so keeping it to just 1/encounter with no scaling doesn’t really speak well to me. Maybe have you gain another use of it every 10 IL?

Feral Goddess and Forge of the Goddess are very similar and decent abilities, as that +2 DC is great... but the fact that Forge gives you a PP reduction, and Feral Goddess doesn’t is rather strange... I also wonder if a bit more could be given to those classes... like a bit of scaling and furth PP reduction?

Giant Slayer is asking to be used with Martial Charge or charging maneuvers... and depending on your campaign, can be very useful, or incredibly useless... you definitely want to be a monster hunter to be grabbing this feat.

I do like Hone Weapon. I’m unlikely to pick it up, as I tend to use feat-intensive builds. However, it is a great way to get just that little bit extra damage with your weapons. Not to mention it does have fluff, as it shows someone that takes good and possibly meticulous care of their weapons.

Heighten Maneuver is a little... odd all things considered. Its basically a meta-maneuverer feat, yet it's also a psionic only feat. It also helps give further life expectancy to old maneuvers, especially save-reliant maneuvers. Even then I feel like its use is limited.

Improved Blade Meditation is... useful. For the Mystic that likes using Blade Mediation a lot, or just has a feat or two to spare. I don’t foresee too many people picking up this feat. But the fact that we do have the option to take it is important in my book.

Katana Expertise is something I love! Especially as it's not just ‘treat it as a light weapon’ or ‘increase your damage die’, but both at once, which I think it very good. Helps both size-buffing builds, and dexterity crit-fishing builds.

Malevolence is a very potent ability, whilst the -2 to CMB isn’t likely to turn up that much, its nice to have along with the -2 skills... but of course, the real fact is that it curses when you claim... helping both the Harbringer, AND the Soul Hunter (which also gets Cursed Razor) out quite significantly... maybe a bit too much however, with how easy it makes cursing.

Mirror of the Moon is just such a wonderful fun little feat! Leave behind a Major Image whenever you teleport to confuse the enemy! Pity there’s nothing to let you use a major image to flank or flat-floot an enemy, as it would let you make very fun builds out of this little ability.

Molten Steel Strike is fun, not only letting you use Solar Wind boosts, but also increasing the range of the Wave feats! ... Wait... the wave feats give vulnerability to silver... which elemental current can change into 50% energy weakness... and to use this, you use a Solar Wind maneuver, which activates Elemental Sun... MANIACAL LAUGHTER

Pinning Arrow... its cool and all... but I don’t really see many characters ever actually using it... maybe a Tempest Gale Warlord with the Gladiator Presence, but apart from that... I don’t know, it just doesn’t speak to me on the same level as other abilities.

As others have pointed out, Prodigious Two-Weapon Fighting still leaves you with the huge penalties of TWFing, meaning unless you gain a bonus feat at level 1, its not really a viable style at level 1... I understand having to get TWFing in the first place... but as my main interest is using this with shield-bashing, I really think it should let you two-weapon fight as if you had the feat... but you’ll still need to pick TWFing up to get stuff like Improved Two-Weapon Fighting

Reach Through Shadows is good thematically... but I can’t actually see the benefits of taking this currently. Can someone explain why I would take this?
Seize the Opportunity giving more life to Vital Strike, as well as CMB maneuvers is a great thing. Its not a feat that most people will take, but it's still an awesome feat regardless, and I might think of picking it up with my polearm wielding trip-master shield bashing warlord... when I have enough feats.

Sin Eater, along with Dark Alure, are rather odd in that they making it possible for Soul Hunter’s and Harbringers - classes that don’t have the highest hit die - to be a sorta of pseudo secondary tank... or I guess Sin Eater just increases your survivability in drawn out battles.

Sorcerous Bloodline is pretty awesome, even if it does quite heavily favour dipping over full out multi-classing. 1 level sorcerer dip to grab the spellcasting, and then 19 mythics with a full 20 levels of bloodline! Not to mention you can go crossblooded for even more shenagians!

Winds of War is lovely, especially for the Bleak Emerissay! However, its useless for the Omen Rider... and I was wondering if they could get a special caveat about being able to give that speed boost to their mounts instead?

Thanks Doppel!

4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 2) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 6) = 20
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 5) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 2) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 5) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 6) = 14

Okay, so 9, 18, 11, 17, 7, 15 and 13. Drop the seven, put the advancement point into the 9 and I can easily drop it on strength and drop my -2 racial on it. Got an 18 for Dex, 17 for Cha, 15 for Con, 13 for Int and 11 for Wisdom. Not a bad selection of rolls. Through maybe I will swap Con and Int around and go for that Inspired Blade...
