Only so many people can be around the small area that Billy fell. The three I mentioned positioned themselves so I gave it to them. The site was down for me too so I understand, but I think I am being fair allowing three AoO

The trap door opens, and you hear a maniacal voice "You first billy see what the trouble is. " A small kid is pushed down onto the cat walk. Billy'Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 He lands on his feet wielding a small knife. He sees Nicoleta and is startled and screams something incoherent Alistair, Alika, and Nicoleta can take attacks of opportunity against the unsuspecting billy as he falls into place if you wish before round 1.

The floor here is slick with river water, bits of seaweed, and fish blood, and the air is thick with the accompanying scents. Wooden catwalks to the north and south allow access between the western part of the fisher and the floor of the room which is ten feet lower. A wide opening in the floor to the south allows direct access to the sloppy, muddy water of the Jeggare river and a further three feet down, while ot the northwest stands an immense eight-foot-tall wooden vat, its sides caked and waterproofed with tar. Inside is a foul-looking mixture of chum, river water and who knows what else. To the east are stacked many barrels and crates, each with a fish painted on it. Over a dozen small hammacks hang under the catwalks, each with its own ratty blanket and pillow.

You hear feet moving above you

GM Screen:
Danni Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Alistair Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Nicoleta Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Garran Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Alika Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Nicoleta:
You notice a trap door in the ceiling just above the middle of the catwalk above you. This is probably where Hookshanks and his men will be coming down from.

I never played online games but id like to start what do i do

Do you intend to run a game or play in one? If you want to run one you start a thread like you did and list what your campaign is and what system and what your requirements for player characters are. Then you wait for submissions. Sometimes you get a lot and will need to be choosy.

If you want to play you look for a recruitment post and follow the instructions given to make a character.

Giggles is unconscious under the desk and the boys decide to heed Alistair's and Danni's warning after seeing their cruel taskmaster put down so easily. Out of combat, for now.

From upstairs you can hear a human yell. "What the blazes is going on down there giggles!? Hookshanks round up the men and see what it is."

There is a door to your left, the one the boys went out, that leads to a lobby of sorts and the front door. Another doorway to your right leads to a large area with a vat full of chum and stairs up.

I will get a post up late tonight/early tomorrow

Round 1
Nicoleta 23 Knocks the wind out of giggles, though some how he is still able to make his signature sound.
Alika 21 The children are confused by Alika's kindness and look at each other for guidance. (They are dazed for this round and will require some more encouragement, but your approach is working with them)GM: 1d100 ⇒ 11
Alistair 20+ Dismembers the old dog, his guts add fresh chum to the already blood soaked floor in this room.
Garran 20- Wounds the half-orc, who giggles at him oddly. GM: 1d100 ⇒ 78 The floor of the makeshift alley cracks a little when Garran moves in, but luckily stays intact.
Lamm's Lamb 3 19 Dazed
Dog 18 Dismembered
Giggles 16 "ATTACK! HELP!" Giggles dives under his desk Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 but fails to do so without provoking. Nicoleta and Garran can make an AoO
Lamms lamb 4 14 Dazed
Danni 10
Lamms Lamb 1 11 Dazed
Lamm Lamb 2 9 Dazed

Danni gets an action then its Round 2.

The old door bursts into splinters and leaves a gaping hole in its spot. A half-orc with an eye patch stands up from behind a desk. There is a large dog and four more of lamm's lambs in the 15'x30' room which the door is in the center off.

InitiativeI'll roll for everyone that might be faster

A slippery boardwalk clings to the side of the fishery, held together by barnacle-encrusted pilings. The wood creaks under your weight as you walk on it.

A giggling voice with an orkish accent replies heh heee heeee heh"Samson isn't here you wench, find some other buccaneer to spread your legs for.hehe hee heee "

Knowledge Local DC 12:
The distinctive voice sounds like a recent accomplice of Gaedrens, a cruel half-orc taskmaster called "Giggles". Quick on his feet and competent with a long bow and flail, he prefers to bludgeon his enemies unconscious and torture them later.

GM Screen:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

As you approach the fishery you can see eyes occasionally looking out between the aged planks of wood that keep this decrepit building together. Likely these are lambs on the lookout or just bored and curious between doing their daily toils.

I will be posting as soon as I can. Running behind tonight.

The lambs take the coins eagerly and listen to the instructions. "I know where it is. I can take Niculai and his sister there. "

Danni's antidote does the trick and color comes back to the young girl. "Thank you, I was having a horrible nightmare."

After the combat you notice the fishmongers and other casual on lookers moving on. They know when trouble is brewing.

An aged man approached the group. "Best you folk move on. Them were Gaedren's men. All the guards are at the heights. Something's going on at the castle. "

GM Screen:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

If more of Gaedren's men noticed the commotion outside, you see no indication of it at the moment. But when these men fail to report in you know that will change soon. From your current position you can see a side entrance on the north end of the fishery that is connected to a makeshift alleyway between it and another abandoned building that looks like it was some sort of dry dock.

Danni 17 Casts a spell on the half-orc Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 and the half-orc is Dazed
Garran 13 Garran charges the human and with a devastating attack puts him on his back. With blood in his mouth and a look of recognition in his eyes the man trys to speak, but only manages a whisper barley heard by Garran.

Garran:
"Tymo. I...I am sorry."

that's fine. Always liked Sarenrae.

Either way is fine. One thing that can make the hedge witch nice is using your familiar to cast touch spells. Paladins can certainly hold their own in combat. My personal favorite divine class is the Life Oracle.

Great! Thanks for posting Vedika

I exhausted the applicants that submitted with a divine character so I sent a Pm to the player that had played with Alistair and Garran before to see if they wanted to make a divine character. If that is a bust I will post a new recruitment post. Should that fail I will NPC an appropriate character. I am determined not to let this game fail.

I have removed Aryah and Robogeshia from the game.

No Surprise round, they are hostile and aware of your presence.

Aryah left because they can't keep up? One post a day is too much for some people I guess. Of course this was the "backup" GM. People like that I just block I don't play around not worth the energy.

If this game was not what some of you had envisioned I understand, just leave now so I can get us filled with people that want to play. I was upfront about there being no combat maps. I wish I had the time and skill to prep all of that, but I do not.

I sent PM to another player that submitted a Divine character.

Able to get a post up, but the website seems a bit off today and the PbP stuff is all jumbled up. I can understand if people are having issues.

Narration for absenceAryah is oblivious to the conversation as she focuses her efforts on stabilizing the sick child. Heal Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 but without an antidote is not having much success.

GM Screen:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 1d20 ⇒ 11

Garran:
You realize you know the human next to the half-orc. He was one of your old gang that got pinched when Gaedren betrayed you. Samson must have reconnected with Gaedren out of necessity or is unaware of the betrayal. He was just a boy then, and has aged poorly in the recent years. His name is Samson, but the men called him Sammy Sands because he had a reputation of passing out on the river bank after too much drink. Samson has not recognized you yet, but that could change.

The children are unflinching, but remain confused by the situation. The half-orc and human whisper to each other for a moment. "I know you are not a guard, if you were you'd be up at the heights with the rest of them right now. Hand over the eggs, or die where you stand." The two men crouch ready for combat the boys behind them are ready to defend themselves but do not look so eager for combat.

Initiative
Half-Orc 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Human 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Lamb 1 1d20 ⇒ 13
Lamb 2 1d20 ⇒ 11
Lamb 31d20 ⇒ 19
Lamb 4 1d20 ⇒ 9

I will post late tonight/early tomorrow. The site was down for me last night.

I am going to give Aryah a chance to weigh in before I post. I like the interactions though.

Gamer Connection

GM Screen:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

The half-orc looks at the human next to him and they give each other a look. "How about those spider eggs you collected from under the pier. That was their task to pay for room and board of our proprietor. I think that would be fair. "

GM Screen:
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

"Your children? Yargin said the parents were dead. These your parents boy?" The half-orc looks at Niculai.

Niculai looks at Danni and looks back at the men and nods smiling.

"Well, ok. You mentioned something about a reward then?" He says stretching his hand out towards Alistair.

With Aryah's help the eggs are harvested in no time at all. With Alistair's mention of guards you notice that this area doesn't seem to have a guard presence at the moment. This was always a shady part of Korvosa, but no guards? That is unheard of.

"I am Niculai. This is my brother Petru. My sister is sleeping, I think the spiders made her sick. Her name is Emili. We have no parents or family. I tired to go to the temple once, but I got lost and Yargin found us. He was nice at first, but then he said it was time to earn our stay. " The oldest child says answering Alistair.

GM Screen:
Secret Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

As you are talking to the boys a couple of Gaedren's men with some children armed with sharp sticks and makeshift weapons approach. "Hey whatcha doin' wit me boys?" The voice is from a half-orc holding a club. There are two men(one half-orc the other is human. The half-orc is wearing chainmail and wielding a club. The human is wearing leather and has a dagger in his hand.) and four children also known as Lamm's Lambs. You know from your experience with Gaedren these children are not to be underestimated and have lived very hard lives. They are in a group 40' from you. The men are side by side, the children are 5' behind them scattered about.

Well that's probably a big negative for people. That is a concept that sounds good on paper, but in execution usually lacks especially with a group of players thrown together at random. If you are very familiar with the source material and very good at the game mechanics a GM can be successful with a game like that, though my experience is this is the type of game for GMs that like to do little prep and expect the players to do most of the heavy lifting.

GMs also tend to over-estimate the average player's ability to drive a story. I know I did when I first started doing PbP. It takes a special kind of player to play in a game like that, usually those that themselves have some GM experience.

Perhaps try the gamer connection forums, this board is mostly for people interested in doing standard PbP on this website and not always the best for reaching out to those interested in other formats.

Other than that your game sounds fine I hope I was helpful.

For me I can not say I am familiar with playing something like this on Discord. I have only used Discord for raiding in games. Is there a dice program for it?

Not sure what agency game means, maybe explain that a little more.

"Master Yargin, he said Gaedren would accept us into the fishery if we got him the eggs. " The boy says, his tone is hopeful at Danni's kind words.

At the end of round 1 all spiders are killed. Nicoleta feels better as she cleans spider guts off her hands

The children are alive, but are injured and ill. There are three children total.

Heal check DC 11:
One of the children is severely injured and unconscious. His wisdom is reduced to 0 at the moment. It will take an antidote to cure him.
One of the orphans looks up and says "Please, the eggs. If we do not get them he will beat us."

Treasure:
There are several old bits of gear and gold stuck in the webbing worth about 200 gold.

Knowledge Nature DC 11 or Knowledge Local DC 10:
Dream spiders are common around here, and anyone on the street can tell you that their webbing and eggs are worth money. The webbing can fetch 50gold per nest, but you have to be careful collecting itDC 12 Survival to harvest and a cluster of eggs are easily worth 100 gold.

You can post actions out of order if you are confident in what you want to do. I will try to be as forgiving as I can due to the game style, but going back can make things take very long so only post ahead if you are sure of your actions and they are not too dependent on what others do.

If you want to coordinate here before posting in gameplay I am fine with that too.

I will be posting within next couple hours, just a little behind tonight.

In the campaign tab I have added the Korvosa tab with the city base stats listed. These stats modify certain rolls including random encounters. Throughout the campaign the status will change and some of your actions can modify things for better or worse. I will tell you the basic status Standard,Anarchy, Unrest, Martial Law ect.. but will treat these changes sort of like a knowledge roll to know about a monster. For example if you want to know the current economic status you will need to roll me appraise or knowledge local. I will encourage creativity so if you can sell me on why a certain skill should correspond to a certain statistic I will be open.

As you travel to Westpier 17 you hear some talk on the streets that King Eodred is sick and there is some talk about river ghosts harassing people in the narrows.

The old fishery looks and smells like you would expect. A creaking, decrepit building. All windows are boarded up, but there are ample slits between the planks for those inside to keep watch. An equally decrepit fishing boat is docked in the back. The fishery is perched atop a steep embankment, with most of the structure extending out over the Jeggare River on wooden pilings. The embankment drops 13 feet into the river.

GM Screen:
1d100 ⇒ 21 1d4 ⇒ 4

Perception DC 12:
To the north of the fishery is a short pier that currently does not make it to the river and is probably only in use when the water levels are higher. Underneath you see four spiders wrapping up some children in web they built under the pier. If you can read this and wish to act roll initiative. Spider 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22Spider 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15Spider 3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Spider 4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

If you can read previous spoiler-Knowledge Nature DC 11:
These are dream spiders. They have a poison that effects wisdom and if their web is burned it will produce a poisonous gas with a simular effect. The poison can be harvested to make shiver, a common street drug in Korvosa.
