Checking in here with Okore Netell from Nyrond. Still working on BG but ready to go. Old School GM Obermind: If you could look him over I would appreciate that.

I should be ready to go on Monday, looking forward to it!

I am here just finalizing my PC now.

There's likely to be a delay of a day or so from me. A friend of mine who's been battling cancer for some time passed away today. Not a complete surprise, but still upsetting, obviously.

My condolences Flanderdash.

Crunch is just about done. Working on a quick background for him, will post it tomorrow.

Rolling stuff here:

GP for Equipment: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 40 gp total

Spells Known: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) = 11 nice!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

OK switching to Mage. I will work on him this evening once I peruse the Gold and Glory ruleset.

I could swap out my CON for INT if you want a magic-user in the group ;)

OK I been doing the RP thing since I was 12 years old (now 53). I live in SoCal so I am on PST (Paizo time). More details to come, he he.

Here are my rolls:
Str: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 2) = 12 11
Dex: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 4) = 13 12
Con: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 6) = 21 17
Int: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 2) = 10 8
Wis: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 1) = 13 12
Chr: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 3) = 11 10

Hmm, maybe a dwarf fighter, or possibly a human barbarian?

Thanks for the invite:

Character Creation::
- Rolling three sets of 3d6 in order, and choosing one.
- First level HP: roll two and take higher.
All else OK.

Miscellaneous:
- Dual Class for humans only.
- Weapon speeds OK.
- Crits: max damage, miss on a 1.
- No Perception skill.
All else OK.

OK everyone, lets move this over to the new RECRUITMENT thread.

OK here is my Star trek submission: Thoss Th'Chiaqis.

I created him for a Star Trek game set in the TMP era, but I could easily modify him to work in the new setting. While I am OK with changing the race to Human I do plan on having him be the Helmsman in any event.

If you decide to allow him as is, then I can flesh him out further.

Cool thanks!

Well by my count we have five people (not including myself) who have expressed interest in this game. So if you all are in agreement I can run this game if you'd like. I still need to purchase the AP so let me know if that is OK, or if we want to try recruiting a DM.

Thanks!

Dotting for interest. Do you know which ruleset you will be using, or is it just freeform?

OKay reverted Aevelyn back to 1st level. Please review her and let me know if you need anything else changed.

Arjuna332 wrote:

I will convert her back to 1st level later this evening.

This sounds interesting! I have an old PC that was in a Hell's Vengeanec game years ago. Aevelyn BlackHair is a Sorcerer and I believe you needed a spell caster? Feel free to review her.

Thank you very much! Nice Boon :D

Speaking of Boons here it looks like the attachment/text of the Player Boons was not included in the email sent to one of the lucky winners, namely myself.

GM Tyranius, could you please resend it to me?

New Version: 2.7.0

I've just released version 2.7.0 with the following changes:

- New feature: hide inactive aliases when posting
- Fixes campaign page arrangement & sorting for people with lots of campaigns (*coughEricSwansoncough*)

Working good now Oladon, thanks again!

Thanks for the update Oladon!

Unfortunately I have noticed a couple of issues here:

  • It looks like on the Campaigns page loads all the campaigns are listed on a single column. You need to select the Sort By option in order to see the Campaigns organized correctly.
  • Also when you click on the Save (?) button next to the Sort By drop down menu, it reverts to Custom view. Is this intentional?
  • The Custom arrangement does not save when you reload the page. I have to re-arrange the order again.

I am using Chrome Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit). OS is Win 8.1.

  • I have always believed you should play whatever class you want and don't worry too much about party balance here. That will work itself out in the end. That said, like Kradel, I also like the Josie's concept as well and I think it would be a good one. RowynStarr's Shoanti intrigues me as well. Having a gunslinger would also be a neat choice here.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

    First Choice:

    Gery Thylley: (Halfling Fighter [Duelist])
    Campaign Trait: Love Lost/Widowed

Gery is my first selection. While he is currently a PFS character I am going to rework him for this game.

Gery was one of a myriad of slaves who escaped from Cheliax who settled into Korvosa, aided by [insert name here] who taught him the finer arts of swordplay. Managing to lay low near the Grey District he found a fellow halfling slave. They eventually grew close and then became lovers. His happiness came to an end after her murder.

    Second Choice:

    Jyrrar Rivurder: (Male Oread Monk)
Campaign Trait: Addicted Friend: Did not survive the overdose.

    Another PFS rework.

Jyrrar found himself in Korvosa for an extended time as he lacked the funding to keep travelling. Deciding to explore this fascinating (to him) city he encountered [insert name here] who he developed an enduring friendship. Sadly (s)he had her own faults and soon died of an overdose.

    Third Choice:

    Pending....

    Present!

I plan on reworking on of my PFS characters for this AP (a halfling duelist). More details to come!

    Dotting here!

I plan on playing a Human Wizard with the Scholar Background :) I will get started on putting together an alias, but it may take some time as I need to go through the steps of building a PC first he he.

I have an alias already built, I just need to find a good pic for him :)

I am assuming he got the Star League updated Centurion 'Mech? As this is not his original 'mech it is obvious someone wants to rescue him from the scrap heap of the various merc bands out there :)

Okay here is my alias for my Mechwarrior submission:

    Wendelin Kraus

I have a bare-bones background in there now, I will flesh it out as I get the chance.

This is a recently upgraded Star League 'Mech so please let me know if this mech is available.

After looking over the timeframe, I am not sure my Clan concept will work here so I am looking at an IS Mechjockey, either going with the Grizzled Veteran or perhaps the Hotshot (You are OK with us using the Archetypes DM Dickie?) part of the Steiner house.

As for the type of 'mech I am pretty open here, though I suspect Assault 'Mechs will not be very useful. A lance of a Light, 2 Mediun and a Heavy would be the best option I think. Hopefully we get some more Mech jockeys :D

I was originally going with a House Capellan intel officer, but since Saleem has that covered I think I may go Clan here. A Mechwarrior from one of the Crusader clans, cut off from his clanmates due to his sympathies to the Inner Sphere.

While he would have access to an Omnimech, keeping the 'Mech running with the lack of spare parts is gonna be a nightmare!

MW 2e works for me...and from what I recall of mech combat, it doesn't translate well into PbP but I am sure we can work around that.

DM Dickie, how close will you stick with canon here. Will we have the opportunity to change the storyline in anyway or will we just be doing our own thing?

    Man...this brings back memories...

LOL! Good to play with you again, Eric.

Okay, I've got to hear this story. Which campaign was it?

An old homebrew campaign stormraven ran, waaaay back in 2012. Still one of my most favorite campaigns eveah!

HERE is the link to it if you are interested in a good read :)

Hey Stormraven! Long time no play he he. I can vouch for SR here he is an awesome player! (Also not a bad DM too as I recall :)

I love Senna's background and I also think it meshes well with Jeram's background too. It might take some convincing to get Senna to join on his quests though...but I think I can figure out a way he he.

    DM Salsa:

    1. Are you looking for a religious or more secular order?
I would imagine a religious order makes the most sense especially if the gods sent prayers to their followers to follow these edicts.
    2. Do you see the order as being fundamentally righteous or more morally ambiguous, or perhaps even corrupt? My first impression is the order definitely started off as righteous yet as they gathered these evil items together for safekeeping their influence would slowly begin to seep into the very fabric of of the moral fiber of the priests safeguarding them. (I am cribbing the idea behind the Banewarrens adventure, by Monte Cook here he he.)
    3. How would your character become a member? Were his parents members? Was he raised from birth for this task? Did he stumble across one of the order's members and help them out before the adventure began and was inducted into the order after proving his skills? My background lends itself to he being recruited by a member of the order, who would induct him into its secrets after a period of testing. Perhaps this procedure also led to the slow corruption of this order.
    4. Does your character believe in what the order is doing? That is a very good question. I think this is something I would allow to play out as the adventure unfolds and see what happens :)

    DM-Salsa wrote:
Want to play a ranger that belongs to a secret order of priests looking to seal away or destroy dangerous artifacts? Do it! I think that would be fun, actually.

Actually I am quite intrigued by this secret order. Would it be easy to incorporate into his current background. What about the other PCs? would he be allowed to recruit others to his cause?

Okay, thanks for letting us know! I will have to finish up starting his BG :D

I am a HUGE fan of the Lost Land setting, so much so I backed the KS for the Campaign Setting :D As for the other settings, all of them have good potential but I know Lady Ladile has expressed frustration with sandbox games before so maybe we could start a new sandbox campaign after we get Dragon's Demand going.

    Thoughts?

I am OK with a sandbox style game DM-Salsa.

Have you looked into any of the Lost Lands settings...Frog God/Necromancer books? I can shoot you links if you like :)

Still here and working on my character...his profile is HERE if you want to take a peek he he

I am indeed still interested in this game yet I have run into a but of a creative block here in my character concept, so I think this delay will help me out here :)

    Lady Ladile wrote:
Okay, got one potential nibble so far. They said they'd give it some thought and were (at the moment) leaning towards ranger/hunter/slayer territory.

I would be the potential catch here he he. Thanks for letting me know about this Ladile.

As I said I am toying with the idea of playing a Ranger, or possibly a druid here, still looking over the archetypes. I have been slowed by this cold that I am still recovering from, and while I feel OK now, I am still a little tired so my creative juices are rather low. Still a couple of the ranger archetypes are interesting, like the Dragon Hunter and the Spirit Ranger.

I'll look over the archetypes this weekend and throw up a concept hopefully by Monday :)

    YOU AS A PLAYER:
Why do you want to do this campaign? I have never played or tried Starfinder but I think this AP is a good place to start. Sounds very gritty and serious to me.

What is your experience with PBP or Starfinder? Do you have a favorite prior adventure? Feel free to link to it if it was a PBP. I have a LOT of experience with PF, a lot of it with you Hmm. You can browse my current/previous campaigns to get an idea of my style.

Are you able to keep up with 2-3 posts a day, barring occasional absences for cons, holidays, weddings, illness or real life? Do you promise to let us know when you think you might be busy or absent? I should be able to do that and yes I will inform you if/when RL intervenes.

Are you okay with being botted to maintain pace, and do you have a botting spoiler? Would you be willing to help bot others? Yes that is fine. I will include a spoiler. Sadly I don't feel comfortable botting other PCs since I am still learning the system.

Is there anything else I should know about you as a player? Ummm...well...if you have any further questions about me you can always send me a PM he he.

    YOU AS A CHARACTER:
Tell me about your character’s background, personality and ambitions: Henry grew up as a orphaned young man in Absalom Station. He tried out for the Stewards and was accepted into that organization, before getting thrown out for violating their company rules. He drifted for a while, picking up various odd skills, including studying as an architect. He now works as a sell-sword trying to figure out what to do with his life.

What things do you do in Starship Combat?
I think he is best suited to be a Gunner, though he could also be a good Pilot.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of combat? Watch the other player's backs usually, he he.

What sorts of things do you like to do in combat?
He prefers to open with a volley with his pistol, before moving into melee range using his mobility to avoid getting surrounded and cut down.

How did you meet Cedona, and why are you flying out to a backwater planet like Nakondis to see her again? You were Cedona's neighbor for a few months, and she was the only person in the neighborhood you really considered a friend. She had a pet named Cubber—a vulpine creature known as a squox (see Starfinder Alien Archive 2)—that she occasionally asked you to feed while she was away for work. You never learned what Cedona did professionally, but she seemed glad to retire from it. She was happy when she told you she'd been accepted to join an AbadarCorp colony on Nakondis, although it meant she'd have to find a new home for Cubber. It seems Henry was adopted by Cubber!

Is your full character sheet in your profile yet? Yes.

Is there anything else about this character that you want me to know?...

I am thinking of a male Human Soldier (Hit and Run fighting style) for starters. I'll have to look over the Corebook to see what other options I have to flesh him out.

Yeah this definitely sounds interesting! Just perfect for a succubus right? I will definitely mark my interest here and await further developments he he

    Special Abilities:

    ------------------------------
    SPECIAL ABILITIES
    ------------------------------
Arcane Reservoir (Su): An arcanist has an innate pool of magical energy that she can draw upon to fuel her arcanist exploits and enhance her spells. The arcanist’s arcane reservoir can hold a maximum amount of magical energy equal to 3 + the arcanist’s level. Each day, when preparing spells, the arcanist’s arcane reservoir fills with raw magical energy, gaining a number of points equal to 3 + 1/2 her arcanist level. Any points she had from the previous day are lost. She can also regain these points through the consume spells class feature and some arcanist exploits. The arcane reservoir can never hold more points than the maximum amount noted above; points gained in excess of this total are lost.

Points from the arcanist reservoir are used to fuel many of the arcanist’s powers. In addition, the arcanist can expend 1 point from her arcane reservoir as a free action whenever she casts an arcanist spell. If she does, she can choose to increase the caster level by 1 or increase the spell’s DC by 1. She can expend no more than 1 point from her reservoir on a given spell in this way.

    Arcanist Exploits:
Force Strike (Su): The arcanist can unleash a blast of force by expending 1 point from her arcane reservoir. This attack automatically strikes one target within 30 feet (as magic missile) and deals 1d4 points of force damage, plus 1 point of damage per arcanist level. Spells and effects that negate magic missile also negate this effect.

Dimensional Slide (Su): The arcanist can expend 1 point from her arcane reservoir to create a dimensional crack that she can step through to reach another location. This ability is used as part of a move action or withdraw action, allowing her to move up to 10 feet per arcanist level to any location she can see. This counts as 5 feet of movement. She can only use this ability once per round. She does not provoke attacks of opportunity when moving in this way, but any other movement she attempts as part of her move action provokes as normal.

Consume Spells (Su): At 1st level, an arcanist can expend an available arcanist spell slot as a move action, making it unavailable for the rest of the day, just as if she had used it to cast a spell. She can use this ability a number of times per day equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 1). Doing this adds a number of points to her arcane reservoir equal to the level of the spell slot consumed. She cannot consume cantrips (0 level spells) in this way. Points gained in excess of the reservoir’s maximum are lost.

    Background:

Ferona grew up in the capital city of the Great Kingdom as the youngest daughter of a fairly well off merchant family. A series of bad investments in foodstuffs that were wiped out when the Plague hit. Fortunately her family was spared the worst of the effects, though she did lose many of her close friends to the disease. She was always quiet and withdrawn but this made it worse. As part of a deal to avoid losing everything to the tax collector, her parents 'sold' her into service of one of the Academies for study and grooming as a scribe. She proved to be a natural at understanding the written word and she was able to learn several ancient languages. It was not until later she learned the Academie was actually a part of a secret cabal who called themselves the Pearls of Wisdom, a secret society of sages, arcane, and divine casters that work for the betterment of society and the good of the common people. They had arranged events so as to gain her services. While she certainly understands intellectually why they did this to her, a part of her is resentful that her freedom was stolen from her.

    Appearance and Personality:

Ferona is fairly tall and lean, as befits a typical member of her race. Light reddish blond hair frames her angular cheekbones, while sky blue eyes peer from underneath her cloak, which she wears to protect her pale delicate skin. She likes to dress in a sky blue robe of fine cotton and silk, with a heavier shirt and cloak covering up her body modestly. Her strange vanity is a pair of heeled boots which she enjoys wearing.
