Venice by Night - Thursday - April 3, 1309 The City of Padua - Donato Elba Donato carefully climbs into the wagon, allowing his eyes a moment to adjust to the darkness. Finding an open seat he exaggerates the movements required to get his small frame onto the bench. " I'm surprised you where able to assemble such a caravan in such little time..."

Donato moves across the room and seats himself where the justicar asked. Folding his small hands together he looks at Schrekt, " So tell me what the clan requires of this humble servant?"

Donato smiles as he slaps Eliastor on the back and finishes packing. He slings his bag over is shoulder and turns towards the door, " Now let us go and see what Venice has in store for us...and remember we do not choose our fate, for it was written long ago, especially for those like us."

Ultimately I seek to find my place in this world beyond what has been my station to this point in my existence. Its is only Eliastor and I, I will go and prepare what I need for this journey and meet you there ready for travel." Donato takes his leave and returns to his haven to gather his few possessions. While gathering his things, he turns to Eliastor, "I'm well aware of your trepidation in regards to this move...speak your mind old friend, what is your council?"

I'll not mince my words, while I travel to Venice to ascertain the fate of my sire...a city in turmoil and strife has always represented opportunity for our kind. I find it incredibly hard to believe the church could have orchestrated such an attack, without Narses hearing even a whisper of events to come...as is customary with kindred politics, either someone already wishes the Camarilla done or there were specific targets that were eliminated with that attack. Either way, the war of the elders seems far from concluded. We are aligned in the task of finding out what has happened, and you need not fear harm from me or Eliastor, but understand, I am drawn to chaos, and Venice is fire ablaze with it!"

"Yes Gustav, I believe we should make our way outside and discuss the details of this expedition." Donato turns and motions for Eliastor to follow. He makes his way through the crowd towards the exit and steps into the night. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person Gustav, I am Donato Elba of Clan Tremere. I assume you are well aware we travel to the viper's nest... what have you heard about Venice, other than the rumors that are abound?"

"My prince, while I can appreciate your confidence in the safety of Padua...would Venice not have felt as equally confident in its own security? May I suggest sending an envoy...an investigative expedition to not only discover what really happened, but to also appraise the current state of affairs...if things are truly in flux there, waiting for the dust to settle on its own, may very well become a missed opportunity for Padua..."
