Hey folks. I must now make an announcement I'm finding it quite difficult to make. I'm sure some, if not all of you won't be too surprised though as it's been coming on slowly for some time now.

I'm taking an indefinite leave from PbP.

I've been playing these wonderful games online for seven or eight years now, and they have brought me an immense amount of fun, creative challenge, entertainment and inspired flights of fancy. I simply do not have the words to express my deep gratitude for each and every one of my fellow players, and most especially all the hard working GMs I have had the great pleasure and privilege to game with. Thank you all, so incredibly much.

While I still do very much enjoy these games and collaborative creative fiction, upon some deep reflection, over some time now, I feel I need to concentrate my energies in some different directions. Now is the time for it.

This is definitely one of my most difficult games to leave. You've done a masterful job here Corerue! You've created such an interesting, unique and exciting world and storyline! I still can't wait to see where it all goes! Also, Diyeana is absolutely one of my favourite all time characters. She's sexy, flirty, funny, fearless and badass! Thanks for creating a world where she could come to exist Corerue! As well, each and every single one of you Players here are truly a master storytellers. I have immensely enjoyed this game. So thanks again!

I may be back! I just have no idea when, or if at all. I am sure I'll still skulk around and keep abreast of the game though. So please keep up the stellar writing!

I consider you all friends, and I wish you all the very best. Thanks for putting up with me all this years!

Aww, cool, but I'd kinda been hoping Di's nat 20 roll on the rousing speech mighta got more of a reaction. But no worries!

Having more fun blasted away at Cryxians than was probably fair or proper, Diyeana is overjoyed to see her dear friends alive and returning.

Glancing back over her shoulder at the temple, a little moue of disappointment shows briefly on her face that Munro and the other priests hadn't come out and joined in the fun. The feeling is brief though, for the mercurial gunranger has much on her mind. Like killing more $%&^%#$@ Cryxians, for example.

Looking back towards the approaching airship, she pulls out a special cartridge from her bandolier and loads it into her pistol. Pointing the gun straight up at the sky and pulls the trigger, sending a flare shooting up into the sky, a signal Smitty and Joey are sure to recognize.

Waiting for her friends to pick up her and her troops, she recites a mantra silently to herself 'I am Not looking back at that damn temple again. I am Not looking back at that damned temple again...'

You emerge into the Cathedral proper and are shocked by the sight of dozens of injured priests pouring in through the front doors, accompanied by the familiar report of longrifle's outside as your soldiers continued their barrage. Munro looked as the same priestess from earlier approached the both of you. "It's a Miracle! Morrow's hand guide and protect us!"

Your curiosity drives you forward as Munro claps the Battle Cleric on the shoulder. As you look out the doors into the Temple districts open courtyard you give a gasp of shock at what you see. A dozen statues of Paladins of the wall were trampling over the undead, breaking them like toothpicks between their fingers. The Brethren had arrived and none too soon, wielding the powerful magic of their faith and devastating the undead that dared to invade their city. Lightning strikes rained down from the grey sky's, shattering formations and scattering what appeared to be spell casters at the edges of the field.

Your riflemen were choosing their targets, as a spellcaster appeared they took aim and plowed them under. It seemed as quickly as they reloaded they were already firing again...

Victory was in sight...

Giving a huge WHOOP and HOORAH, Diyeana's grin is larger than it had ever been before. Well, except for maybe that one time when she was still a wet behind the ears recruit and the 1st gunnery squad and her...well, that was another story. Anyway, the magic weilding gunslinger could barely recall a time she had been more happy, relieved, thrilled and excited. Turning back towards the priest she yells "Munro! Munro! Have ya seen this! We...those statues o' yours, are KICKING A$$! We're WINNING and we finally have those undead bas#@%d's on the run!"

Without waiting for a reply Diyeana runs back, launches herself into the air and lands on the big, strong priest of Morrow. Her arms wrapping around his neck, she moves her face in close to his, whispering "Munro, you've saved us! And I think you may just be my HERO, big boy, and Hero's always deserve their reward." and with that, she plants a kiss on the unexpecting high priest that even weakens the knees of some of the other priests and priestesses just watching the scene.

After what seems like an inordinately long time, she finally comes up for breath. Murmuring deep in her chest, her eyes hot as flames, she purrs "Mmmm mmmm mmmm son, you and me? We have some business ta finish later, cuz we're gonna git ta know each other a whole lot better n' we do right now."

Then, pushing herself off him, she spins in the air landing gracefully as she runs back towards the door. Pulling her rifle off her shoulder as she goes, she looks back, s#!t kicker grin still in place as she laughs, saying "But fer now, we still got some other kind o' business ta have! Cuz I'll be damned if'n I let all those statues take all tha fun!"

Raising her voice even louder she whoops "So c'mon all y'all! We got some undead ta kill! Let's send ALL o' those undead f#@cks back ta HELL!"

With that, she was out the door. All within the temple can still hear her though, whooping and hollering, her rifle blast joining those of her squad, sounding for all the world like she was having the time of her life.

And she was, she most definitely was.

Feeling more solelm and humbled than she has in, well, as long as she can remember, Diyeana simply nods and begins to walk towards the exit alongside the weary priest. In her head, she sends out prayers for her City and it's people, all those who have been, and still are, fighting and dieing so valiently to protect them, and, last but not least, for the brave and inspiring souls of the Paladins who had sacrificed so much, sacrificed everything, for the protection of their home.

As she walks in silence, almost with a will of it's own and much more like a child seeking support from an elder, or a friend offering support to another than with any romantic intent, her hand glides over and intertwines itself in the much bigger hand of the High Priest of Morrow, giving it a gentle squeeze as they connect.

Super cool to hear! (except about your friend of course. Although, rolling some cloud sized dice up in the afterworld with GG would be pretty neat : )

It read to me like the ship that appears out of the rift is Tyrn's ship, but is that not the case?

Finally, not to be a whiner, but Di's feeling a little underpowered atm. I mean, let's see:
-Tyrn's been re-youth-en-ized, has several high powered NPCs at his back and a Big Brand New SUPER SHIP
-Ael's got a fancy dancy Kick Ass SUPER ARMOR
-Cassian's got what's her name's memories and abilities and a gaggle of SUPER SERVITORS at his command
-Leon's got his new VAMPIRE SUPER POWERS and such
-Aurora's also got suped up, plus her bad ass SUPER SWORD
-Mir, well, she may be a lil underpowered too, but it seems like she might just be the new Queen of a bunch of Tabaxi SUPER WARRIORS. If she survives this battle of who's gonna be Queen of the Hill, that is. ;)

and Di? Well, she did kinda have a beat up ole scrap scavenger kinda under her command for a bit (but don't get me wrong, she loves Joey and scrappy ole Smitty), and I guess she does still have a handful of fairly bad ass long gunners under her command (if they're still alive of course).

So, I dunno, guess I'm just hoping (and Praying! ; ) that you still have somethin' SUPER nifty coming her way too. If not, no worries at all, as I'm still enjoying the heck outta this game and will continue to, no matter what!

So really I'm just curious as to what further awesomeness you might be pulling out of your sleeves next ^-^

On another note, not sure what all options are available to Di at present, but she's just gonna do as Munro suggests, and Pray!

Awed by the incredible spectacle before her, for the first time in her life thus far, Diyeana is struck utterly speechless. For all her bluff and bravado, she had never witnessed power and majesty on this scale before. On top of all that, the very thought of the almost inconceivable sacrifice all these great many heroes had made humbles her to her very core.

When it is all done and Munro stumbles back, she quickly moves to place a supporting hand on his shoulder, standing beside and slightly behind him.

Her voice for once completely void of sass or insinuation and almost at a loss for words, she breathes "Um...wow...just...wow. So, ah, what now?"

'Hot damn, do I love seeing ma boys N girls mowing them undead f#@kers down!"

Pulled to the thrill of combat, plus seeing an opportunity to help turn the tide and spell a victory for her side, the guns linger takes a step through the door. At the moment though she feels a pull I'm her gut and she turns to look back at Munro one last time. As she does, she sees that he has done the same, to see if she would be him. The Divine courting through him,as well something a little more... Personal hits her right there and her seclusion is made. Wishing her squad a silent good luck, and yelling out Loudly "Give 'em he'll boys n girls!" she turns and makes her way swiftly to Munro's side. There, she smiles dazzlingly and says with a wink Well, whatcha waiting for handsome? Let's go win this do war!"

Munro weathers the storm of outrage with a compassionate look before responding with a shocking revelation. "Then we call upon a single cast and hope it is enough... Perhaps the Paladin's of the Wall should suffice?"

Di all the while the escalating gunfire outside the doorway told you that things were probably going poorly outside. The priests deliberations, despite being swifter, were still taking time. Time you all may not have...

Di returns Munro's smile, but then, seeing the priests continue to argue and debate, she growls softly in her throat in frustration. Picking up the sounds of escalating gunfire outside the room, and feeling deep concern for her squad, Diyeana readies her beloved rifle and jogs towards the door, stopping there, she looks out to asses the situation. Yet at the same time, knowing the import of what is going on inside the room as well, she keeps half of her attention focused on the Munro and the other priests.

Then finally the priests finish their chorus right as Munro reaches the crescendo of his strangely uplifting words. As silence falls all the light appears to rush towards Munro, the tapestries stop their elaborate dance, the stain glass windows return to their previous state. All that wild energy appears to be infusing Munro's being with power and making him appear like he is burning with an otherworldly essence. His vestments appears to dance like they were on fire and his eyes shined with a golden light as he descends the stairs and moves past you wordlessly with a sense of purpose, walking back towards the crypts...

As the decision is finally made, and Munro begins the ritual, Di's attention, like a moth to a flame, is drawn back to the interior of the centre of the temple. Her eyes widening in awe at the spectacle of divine power before her, she whispers an prayer to every deity she can think of.

As the ritual ends, and Munro heads to the crypts, she glances outside once again, quickly taking in the situation and deciding where she was needed most, with Munro, or with her troops.

Diyena tilts her head to the side a bit, and her mouth moves into a little moue as she pictures in her head the statues around that city that Munro mentions, for she knows them well, especially the Paladin of the Wall and Ascendant Katrina. A sly smile spreads her lips as she recalls some fond memories around, and even on some of the stautes. In fact, wasn't it under the watchful eyes of the Paladin that she lost her...ah, well, it wasn't quite the time for such reminiscences right now.

Snapping her attention back to the present and the hunky priest before her, her expressive mouth and eyebrows form a slight frown as she says loud enough for all to hear "Well, I'll be a bright eyed virgin! Ha ha I wonder if any o' them statues was able to actually see any of tha goings on around 'em. Cuz if so, well, I'm sure I provided 'em with more 'n eyefull once or twice, or thrice." and for a moment her eyes and mouth grin suggestively.

All serious again however in an instant, she continues "I dunno what y'all are arguin' about though! Cuz if'n yer all waiting fer 'The Darkest Hour', I promise you, it's already here. My crew and I been flying over more n' half the city, and, short of a miracle, I honestly don't know if any o' us will survive. Don't get me wrong, I plan tae take as many o' them undead sons o' b~+$@es with me when I go as I can, but if y'all got some secret plan to save us, like these Brethren o' yours, then it's high time tae git off yer holy asses and AWAKEN 'EM ALREADY! Like NOW"

Diyeana, her attention focused on the charming priest, seems to barely notice and reacts not at all to the booming and falling dust.

When Munro finishes she smiles widely replying "Lady Stormwin...I think a gal could get used to that."

She then turns, all business once again "You heard the man boys and girls, to the steps! Keep those dead bastards out of this place and pick off any and every Thrall Lieutenant you see. Go on now! I'll be right with you."

She then turns back to Munro. Although she never once even glanced at the arguing priests behind him, she asks with intelligence and interest shining in her eyes "So, who are these 'Brethren' then? And what's the big deal with waking them or not?"

Diyeana looks the priest up and down as he approaches her, a slow, sultry smile spreading over her own face as well. When the man kisses her cheeks, she allows him to, but then grabs his cheeks in turn between her two palms and plants a chaste, but solid kiss right on his mouth saying "Now sugar, that is how a kiss is done proper like where I come from."

With no little heat and interest in her eyes, she looks the man up and down once again, then nods in satisfaction saying "Munro, right? I gotta say darlin' you look even better close up. We ain't met yet, name's Diyeana Stormwin, but I heard plenty o' good things about you. Even my Auntie Tesa speaks highly of you, n' that's sayin somethin'"

She then looks back and waves an arm, indicating her Longgunners before turning back to Munro "I'm sorry to say we ain't here offical like or anything sugar, it's a pure as f#@k s#!t storm out there and it looks like all of our city is fighting just to survive. But we are here to help. So you tell me what we can do ta help y'all out and I swear to ya, we'll git it done."

Then, her trademark grin spreading wide across her face, she winks and finishes "A girl just asks that ya make it something fun."

Although somewhat disappointed that her flashy landing didn't garner more attention, Diyeana completely accepts the seriousness of the situation and nods her acquiescence to the beleaguered battle cleric. Calling her troops to rally behind her she begins making her way towards the temple and High Priest Munro.

Every few seconds, her rifle snaps up as she fires, her deadly aim taking out one after another undead enemy.

Um, Corerue, I had posted that Di specifically looked for the command centre or someone who looked in charged and had her men land there. Did that not happen? As well, So, Really? No reactions at all to her crazy, death defying, awesome entrance! ; )

Her heart and mind torn in several directions, Diyeana spends several seconds thinking and making up her mind. Finally, nodding she says "Ok then here's what we'll do. Yer ship's a brave, tough old gal Smitty, but we all know she ain't no battleship. My aunt would never forgive me if'n I let any harm come ta you or your old gal, and she's taken more'n enough of a beatin' already. So set me down with half of my squad and we'll do what we can ta make sure every last one o' these undead bastards gets dead for real this time. I'll send the other half o' my squad with you ta help protect you while you and Joey make repairs. Come back when you're good n' ready and not a moment before. I don't want you trying to spoil ma fun before I'm ready ta quit!" grinning hugely with a wink as she finishes.

She then quickly commands all who can to go to the rails and look for a likely place to set down. She's looking for whatever looks like the main command center for the temple district and/or for whoever looks to be leading the battle. Once they find a likely place or person, she'll order the disembarking to begin.

The longgunners remaining with Smitty stand by the railings to protect the descent of their brothers and sisters in arms, as does Di herself. When the last is safely on the ground, Diyeana hops up onto the railing and turns to Smitty and the rest of her crew "Boys n' girls, it's been a blast! Literally! Hahaha! Now you take good care o' my two special boys here and their old gal of a ship. Make sure none of them come to any harm. I'll see you all when you get back, and I'll try to save at least a few Cryxian s#!tbags for ya! Smitty, Joey, you know I love ya, so don't go and do somethin' stupid n' git yerselves hurt or killed, cuz if you do I'll track down your ghosts and kill ya again myself! So enough o' this lollygagging! This gal's gots some Cryxians ta kill!" and with that she turns and leaps off of the ship in a grand swan dive.

While Smitty and Joey know better the rest of her longgunners on board gasp and rush to the railings. Smitty just shakes his head and mutters under his breath while Joey laughs in delight and runs to the rails as well to watch the show. Falling headfirst towards the ground, at the last possible second suddenly winds seemingly from nowhere blast in and lift the crazy Gunslinger back up into the air and set her down gently and perfectly exactly where she wants to be.

Grinning massively in the shocked faces of those around her she laughs and says "Howdy! Me n' my friends here b lookin' to join in on all the fun! So, where and how can we best help to rid this area of all these godsforsaken undead??"

This is a tough call! Smitty's ship was never meant as a war ship. And being damaged already and with our small crew. Getting back into an air fight is just asking for trouble.

At the same time setting down on the ground is just asking to be picked off by the enemy. And once she's down on the ground she's commited to the temple battle. And with so many forces fighting in this battle, well her crew even make a difference? But maybe they will and could turn the tide and help save the temple district...

Maybe she should go try and find her aunt? Or join with a friendly squadron or fleet of air ships??

Ah man! Ok I'll cogitate on it a bit and post soon.

PS I'm open to suggestions or advice (if it's allowed ;)

Ah ok thanks Corerue! That helps a lot. Part of my delay was that I had little idea what to do next. The other was I was just a bit busy.

So I think this is what she wants. If there is space for smitty to land safely near the temple, she'll have him do so and command he and Joey to begin to make what make-do repairs he can. She'll assign a small squad to guard the ship and then head out to help defend the temple with the rest of her crew. She feels that the city needs at least one bastion of protection and that the temple is perhaps the best place for that.

Before I make the final decision though I would like to hear the low down on the rest of the districts from what she saw before. It'd be awesome to meet up with Leon and Aurora but I'm not sure I can see how that would happen just yet.

Awesome! Great scene Corerue! Great sceneS, in fact! As for what Di's gonna do now, I seem to remember that there was an actual temple under attack too, where most of the citizens were gathering? What's happening there? Also, Di will ask Smitty if he needs to make any urgent repairs and how long it might take.

Your soldiers rally around your command, many things happen at once and rifles are once more pointed downward at the enemy amassed below. You hear the airship grown underneath you as Smitty bellows. "Right Lass! Shes in terrible shape but she's holding together. I'll relay yuor orders to the boys down below!"

The grappler smashes into the side of the Raker but does little damage to its crew and fails to change its course despite the small hole that was formed by the impact. They're still in bound and by the look of the amassed pirates on deck they outnumber you nearly four to one...

Your gunners, undeterred by the coming Raker, tear great holes in the undead lines down below. Huge gaps form and then something miraculous happens. From the outbuildings that appeared to had been sealed the doors burst open as a veritable flood of Morrowan Paladin's and Sword Priests take the fight to the street. By the look of them these men are all injured but within the first few seconds several small squads form and appear to be holding as the undead appear unable to regroup quickly enough. The savage onslaught continues as your flaming fuel bombs rain down and shatter a small squad of undead riflemen, reducing them to burning body parts and smoldering bones.

The Raker is close enough now that you can see the pirates teeming on deck, many have taken refuge behind guard rails but they all appear to be heavily armed and ready to board...

The fighting is so fierce on the ground that Smitties Ariship receives little attention from ground fire as the clerics fight with renewed vigor and the undead struggle to regroup.

Too Long to OOC:
Ok, first, let me please apologize for my absence y'all. I still really love this character, and am very much enjoying this cool, unique game and story line and all the writing in it. It's has continually seemed more and more clear though that, for whatever reason, Di's storyline has been less of a priority for you Corerue. Back when I was keeping track, I think she was averaging receiving 1 update to 2-3 for what you were giving the others. I think that is mainly what dimmed my enthusiasm. As an example, I'm still waiting, what, 2-3 months now for the stats of Di's enemies. Not trying to make you feel bad or anything, as I know how much you have to juggle and keep track of, especially with players in multiple locations. But seriously, no hard feelings, just saying where I was coming from. With that all said though, I'm happy to continue on, and hopefully we'll both be able to keep Di's game humming. Deal? : )

Diyeana locks eyes with the standard bearer, the knowledge clear in both of their eyes, even from a distance, that she would very likely never see him again in this world. His bravery, the bravery of all his brothers and sisters down below, warms her heart and fills it with a fierce pride. Saluting him, saluting them all, her trademark devil-may-care grin spreads wide across her face as she raises her rifle and shouts at the top of her voice "FOR CYGNUS!! FOR LIFE!!!"

Every single person aboard Smitty's ship who is able to looks over to her, follows her line of sight, and then echos her cheer, louder and louder, until it rocks the ship and tidal waves out towards all those who hear it. Intimidate?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 (+ bonus for whole ship doing it? :D )

With the arrival of the Paladins and Sword Priests, Diyeana knows that the valiant warriors below her now at least have a chance to survive to fight another day. Now, she knows she must see to the survival of her crew. Without missing a beat she whips her longgun around and aims it at he oncoming Raker, bellowing out orders as she does "Alright boys and girls, let's sweep this Cryxian s#!t off that dungheap of a ship before it even gets here! Bombers, grab your guns and join in on the fun! Joey, bash 'em again!"

This time though, Diyeana does not join in the fusillade as she has a specific target in mind. Her keen eyes searching, she looks for the helmsman, or barring that, whatever undead seems to be acting as captain. Lining up her shot carefully, she aims at the head, lets out her breath and fires, hoping to take her target out in one shot. Surrounding her, her longgunners, with the bombers now back in their ranks, unleash an even more devastating fusillade than the one unleashed on their enemies below.

... fail to do little more then bury rounds into her battered hull. This time your fellow riflemen were lucky to avoid injury as the Raker continues it's forward bearing course. (2 rounds until it closes the distance...)

The clerics fight bitterly on despite being still outnumbered. They dish out significant damage to the enemy squads attacking them but fail to destroy any of them completely.

The thralls fight on, intent to destroy the living with gun and sword as they try and bring the battered clerics low...

Across the temple districts the cries of the innocent mingle with the grueling sound of metal cutting into flesh. Gunshots echo throughout the district and the discharge mixes with the smoke from fire's burnign out of control across the district. The only bastion appears to be the Temple of Morrow which stands battered but unbreached as Paladin's of the Wall hold their ground stoically despite the undead onslaught..

Reserve Unit: 75% health. Three units engaging the clerics 60/40/60 60% Indicates the flankers, the central unit has been fighting the clerics constantly and have taken more damage as a result.

Wasn't sure if you wanted me to roll these or not, but here goes...

Diyeana quickly surveys the battle scene, her training and natural instincts allow her to observe the ebb and low of the tide of battle and see things others might miss, to make instant decisions based on little information. With the gate now closed to further reinforcements, she knows the clerics can instead now focus their energy and might on retreat, to join the greater battle in defence of the temple. Her mind made, her plans clear, she hollers once again to make them known

"Smitty! We've done all we kin here. Get us up n' out of ground range n' git us to that temple fast as ya can! For I'll be damned if I let these undead bastards take our temple while I still draw breath! While any o' us still draw breath! Joey! Show me what you kin do with that big ole' stick o' yours boy and bash that %#@&ing Raker out of the sky the moment it comes in range. Gunners! Let's make a hole fer those brave girls and boys down there to skedaddle on through. Bombers, two of you to a barrel to make it happen now n' widen up whatever exit we make! Clench yer cheeks and let's blast these freaks kiddies, cause we're jus gettin' started!"

Once again adding her experience and expertise to her gunning crew, the gunners rake the cryxians with another fusillade with two more tank bombs immediately following after.

You other two, one each fer tha platoon o thralls in front of, and behind tha clerics. As soon as yer done, get yer next barrels ready! Gunners! Groups of two, aim fer tha leaders, n' don't stop shooting till their dead! Continue ta fire when ready! Joey! Up in tha crane n' keep that d&%n Raker offa our backs!" commands given, knowing the tide of battle will carry them where it will, having already prepared her spells, the gunslinging mage searches for whatever undead spawn of hell seems to be leading the platoon in front of the clerics. Once her target is selected, she carefully lines up her shot and fires. A wide, devil-may-care grin plastered all over her face.

Joining in with her gunners in a Fusillade, Diyeana remembers why she had so loved being a member of a crack, fighting force. Watching their bullets punch and tear through the enemy, she continues shouting orders while she reloads and fires again.

When the bombers release their fuel drums and they land amongst the enemy, erupting in massive gouts of flame and body parts she lets out a mighty whoop and hollers "Yeeeeeaaaah boys! Lookit 'em burn! That's tha way ta send these undead spawns o' hell back ta where they came from! Hit 'em again boys!"

-And/or cast Balance Weapon (+1 to hit for 1min) on every gunner she could.
-Looks like you made a few typos on the troop stats, putting 1's instead of 2's. Eg on AC, HP, Base Attack, CMB & CMD and perhaps a few others. Or, I just don't know how Troop stats work.
-Sorry, can you reexplain the part about Di adding "herself" and her damage die to the gunner's attack damage? I'm a little confused about that. "You are in command of the Gunner's and may add yourself and your damage die to their attack damage."

If you think she woulda had time to get two shots in, lemme know. Also, if possible, she would have cast Protection From Evil on Joey, Smitty and herself. And Balance Weapon (+1 to hit for 1min) on every gunner she could. As well, do you want me to roll the Troop attacks? If so, what damage will the fuel cans do? And how many of them do we have?? Finally, looks like you made a few typos on the troop stats, putting 1's instead of 2's. Eg on AC, HP, Base Attack, CMB & CMD and perhaps a few others. Or, I just don't know how Troop stats work. OH! And do ya have the Enemy stats handy? Not very much to ask, I know ; )

Hey guys, so sorry to disappear in the middle of a battle, but I've been away so much, and been so busy this summer, it's bee in hard to find the time for pbp. I'm not off for another two weeks or so now with no wifi nor cell signal. I'd definitely like to still continue with Di, so hopefully you can wait? I guess it's fortune she's on her own. If you can't wait though, I totally understand and no hard feelings, only great gratitude for a ton of fun! :-)
