The Dragon's Demand

Down the Verdant Path begins on Golarion, in the town of Bellis in northeastern Andoran. The party's boat just docked at the pier. The time of day is late morning.

The Sellen River bears a multicolored blanket of fallen leaves upon its broad surface, but the Freewind’s bow scatters them as it glides towards Bellis. Though the logging season has ended, the town still buzzes with life.

This is the recruitment thread for The Rat's Repentance, a repeatable tier 1-4 Starfinder scenario.

I don't need your SFS number yet; if you're picked you can put your information into my spreadsheet. What I would like to know is:

Your characters class, level and species
If you are new to PbP or Starfinder
Or if you have earned a Racial Boon from GMing that you need to level up

Those are the factors that I will be basing my recruitment on. Feel free to apply!

Hello!

I am recruiting one additional player for a run of the 1st edition module The Dragon's Demand. We are running the game in campaign mode. If you're not familiar with campaign mode, it means that players will run a character for the duration of the campaign and then receive chronicle sheets which they can apply to an eligible Society character.

The current party consists of a samurai, a classic summoner, an arcanist and a sorcerer. So there is already a good amount of arcane spell power and tanking, but they are lacking divine spellcasting and some skills.

Being that this will be run in campaign mode, I will allow for some options that are not normally available in PFS. I am still limiting this to Paizo published options and reserve the right to veto an option if I feel like it would be disruptive or too unbalanced. Basically I'm mostly concerned about options that require your character to act in an anti-social manner or would make your character dramatically stronger than the other players in the group, so keep that in mind. No drow noble anti-paladins please...sorry. But otherwise, we do have a classic summoner and an arcanist with an illegal archetype in the group, so don't be afraid to ask if there is something you've always wanted to play but haven't been able to in PFS.

The party is still in the first dungeon, so you will be playing a level 1 character with 150 gp for starting wealth. If you are interested, feel free to post a summary of what you'd be interested in playing. You don't need to post full stats, but I'd like to know some basics, such as race, class and especially any character options that are normally disallowed in Society play. And I'll probably move pretty quick on picking somebody, as I'll want to integrate the new player in game right away.

The Dragon's Demand

Six young adventurer's find themselves sitting in a jail cell some backwater village by the name of Belhaim. They were all hired to perform the simple task of escorting a caravan of goods from the city of Cassomir to dwarven trade city of Highhelm. None of the people in this cell knew that they were engaged in illegal activity but in retrospect there were signs that their employer, Silas Gribb, was hiding something.

The pay was maybe a little too good for such a simple job, but Silas justified this by the fact that needed guards that would be ready to leave the city that very night. Of course, Silas never had a good explanation for why he needed to leave in such a rush, but he was charming enough to brush away the topic. Silas also seemed to know a lot of "shortcuts" and detours that just happened to also avoid the toll booths and checkpoints that the Taldan army had set up along their main trade roads. And of course, an experienced merchant would have realized that there was no way that Silas would have made enough of a profit selling his bags of coffee beans and rice to recoup the costs of his trip.

So perhaps more experienced adventurers wouldn't have been so surprised when Belhaim's sheriff and a posse of deputized locals surrounded the caravan and placed the whole group under arrest. A quick search by the sheriff revealed several small packages hidden among the sacks of mundane trade goods. The grizzled constable unwrapped the bundle, revealing fragrant smelling red leaves that had been dried and pressed into a small brick. This whole time they had been transporting flayleaf!

Being a known smuggler, Silas's fate was already sealed and the man was lead away in chains with plans to escort him back to Cassomir to face justice, but the adventurer's fate was less clear. Their weapons and spell casting paraphernalia was confiscated and they were marched to the small town jail to await questioning.

After several minutes of waiting they hear the garrison door open and heavy footsteps march down the hall. The sheriff appears, a middle aged man with the scars and bearing of an old soldier. He groans as he stretches his back, then with one hand resting on the pommel of his sheathed long sword he says, "Alright, I need folks a straight answer. No matter what that happens to be, its going to be better for you if I don't hear no lie spilling out of your mouths right now. I can smell it if you're lying to me. So tell me the truth. Did you know about the flayleaf?"

The Dragon's Demand

Hello! This is the discussion thread for The Dragon's Demand, a 1st edition Pathfinder module for PCs level 1-7. I think the first thing we want to discuss is how we want to handle this campaign and what characters we want to apply credit to for future scenarios.

I know some people in the group are not particularly concerned with PFS credit, but some of us, including myself do want to play games that are Society legal.

This scenario has three chronicle sheets that are each worth 3 experience apiece. The first chronicle is for players 1-3, the second is for players 3-5, and the third is for players 5-7.

There is also a fourth chronicle sheet that can only be applied when a player has gone through the entire module in campaign mode.

Because of that fourth chronicle sheet and *other reasons* I think playing in campaign mode would be the best option. This would allow players to start as a level 1 character and advance organically through the module. Then after the module is complete, you can apply the earned chronicles to your character of choice.

Also, my understanding is that if anyone has been hankering to use a non-PFS legal option; the campaign mode rules would allow for that. If someone has something that they want to play (such as a vanilla summoner) I would be open to it. Let's discuss!

Welcome to the discussion thread for the Tyranny of Winds series!

Sovereign Court

This is the recruitment thread for a PFS run of all three parts of the Tyranny of the Winds Series. I already have one person interested who wants to play in part 1 and 3 and another who wants to play in parts 2 and 3. I am recruiting up to 5 additional players, with a preference towards players who are missing 1 or more parts of this series or those who want to play all three parts.

I will pick applicants based on those considerations and on party balance. For now, if you are requesting a spot at the table, please just post the levels and classes of UP to THREE different characters you would like to bring. No need to post their names, PFS ID number, faction, etc. as I have a different way that I want to collect that information. Just your characters classes and levels, and no more than three.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I will be recruiting an additional four players for this three part Pathfinder 1st edition series. This will be a Pathfinder Society game and you will receive chronicles for playing.

I will arbitrarily chose which four players I accept out of whoever requests. I say arbitrary because I reserve the right to reject an applicant for any reason; but I do have a few criteria that I am looking for.

1)I want players who expect to play all three parts.
2)I want reasonable party balance, including having players close to each other in level and having enough diversity to survive the encounters.
3)I'm more likely to pick you if I get the impression you would be a fun player to have. Its a three parter so I'd like us to get along.
4) All things being equal, I will select people first come first serve

There is a fifth player who already has a seat at the table. I think he's going to play a level 3 inquisitor archer.

I am limiting it five because I think this is a good number for most PFS scenarios but also I may be open to letting someone who is only missing one of these scenarios a chance to jump in, as I feel for players in this boat.

In regards to expectations, I think shooting for a post a day is a good goal but I'm not too strict about holding you to that most of the time. I care more about frequent posting when it comes to combat. I like to keep things moving along, so if its your turn I will "bot" you after 24 hours. If you have botting instructions in your character sheet will follow those but if you don't I try my hardest to do something consistent with your characters strengths and conservative in regards to your resources. For example, I may use a wand I've seen your character spam but I won't use up your scroll of fireball.

When you post, no need to include your PFS number. I will have a spreadsheet in the Google slides for you to fill out. But feel free to provide some details about the character you want to use!

You begin your journey aboard the Grinning Pixie, the pirate cog that serves as a mobile Pathfinder lodge for Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry. The ship is currently moored off Tempest Cay, the northern most island in the Shackles.

Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry, a powerfully built half-orc, stands defiantly on the deck despite the driving winds. Sparse clouds are resplendent with the calm colors of twilight, but waves lap roughly against the ship as sea spray mists the air.

“Good. You’re here. Come with me.” She leads the way to a room below decks, wherea hanging lantern illuminates a canvas map of the isles of the Shackles, with currents and depth marked, fastened to a wooden table with rusting nails. A model of the Grinning Pixie, carved from cork, shows the ship’s current position.

“I hope you lubbers aren’t afraid to get your feet wet. Here’s what I’ve got for you: you’re here to find a Thuvian caravel called the Pride of Aspenthar. The Pride’s captain was Jaheem Quinn, a half-elf with a magical knack for the water. Not a wizard or such, but I’ll be damned if the water didn’t do what he asked when he asked it. I hired Jaheem to take our agents on a mission to the Gloomspires, and neither he nor his ship ever returned to Drenchport. Divinations confirmed that the ship was lost and suggested that no one was aboard, but that could mean anything from them all abandoning ship to a hold full of dead sailors. The winds around the Eye of Abendego are always perilous, but sending Jaheem and his crew into such dangerous currents is one of my few regrets.” The half-orc pauses and shakes her head, her face hardening with resolve.

“The winds have been strange of late, and it seems they’ve turned up news of the Pride—wrecked, of course—near Tempest Cay. It’s a rough place where outside eyes aren’t welcome. You won’t find anyone willing to give account to strangers. I’ve developed a number of connections here, so I’ll see what I can discover on land about any survivors. Your task is to seek out the wrecked ship itself. I’ve been studying these waters and their currents a long time. If a ship has wrecked, it should be around here.” She stabs at the map with a strong finger. “At low tide, the water should be shallow enough to explore on foot in relative safety, without the waves lashing down. You’re to look for any information about why the ship went down, especially if it had to do with these currents. If you can, keep an eye out for Jaheem’s log. It should tell us quite a bit about what happened.”

“Follow any leads you find, but if something’s too much for you to handle, come find me on Tempest Cay. You can ask for me at the Drowned Dwarf in Drenchport. Otherwise, I’ll meet you back here.”
Her gaze lingers on each face in turn. “Right. I’ve got to go landside to catch my contacts while they’re in their cups but still talkative. Be ready to leave an hour before dawn. Enjoy the comforts of the ship tonight, and make sure you visit the quartermaster; I’ve requisitioned specialized supplies for you, and you can ask her any questions you might have. Oh,” the half-orc grins, showing gleaming fangs, “and ask her to wish you luck.”

Deep within the Archives of Absalom's Grand Lodge there is a particularly well warded room where the Society stores one of its greatest treasures, the Hao Jin Tapestry. Rumors abound among the younger Pathfinders at the Lodge about what powers this strange artifact has, with the most far fetched rumor being the most common, that the Tapestry is a portal to vast worlds. What you do know is that your being asked to summoned to the room where the Tapestry being held can be taken as a sign that your reputation within the Pathfinder Society is rising and that the leadership are starting to see you as an agent that can be trusted to get things done.

A five-by-seven-foot tapestry hangs on the wall, surrounded by a series of platforms and ladders to allow a close view of any spot upon it. The room is otherwise empty, save for the Pathfinder Society’s Master of Spells, Aram Zey, who paces impatiently before the Hao Jin Tapestry, glancing up as the door creaks open.

“Thank you for your quick arrival, Pathfinders,” Zey says curtly, speaking without making eye contact, as though his mind is moving faster than his mouth. As he continues his focused pacing, he gestures toward the tapestry.

“As I’m sure you know, we recently came into possession of this wonder behind me—the Hao Jin Tapestry—by winning the Ruby Phoenix Tournament in distant Goka. Within this piece of fabric lies an entire world in which one of Golarion’s greatest magicians placed treasures and mysteries beyond imagining. And it was supposed to be ours alone. This promise of exclusive access was made a lie, however, when the Aspis Consortium found a way into Hao Jin’s astral vault that bypassed the tapestry altogether, and Aspis agents are now busy stealing whatever they can move, hoping we will act too slowly to protect our winnings. Fortunately, a recent mission into the tapestry managed to uncover a clue about a possible Aspis base within the tapestry. That is your destination.

“The camp, interestingly, is within a great stone temple complex uprooted from the Vudran jungle many centuries ago by the sorceress herself. Since her disappearance, that part of the tapestry has been encased in a massive glacier. This temple—dedicated to a Vudran monkey-god, we believe—could prove enlightening on its own, notwithstanding the Aspis presence there. It’s a grim thought imagining what the Consortium has done to the place, but apparently more than three-quarters of it is still protected by the glacier, so we can still salvage a great deal.

“Vanaras—the simian humanoids responsible for constructing this temple—are great builders, and this temple is representative of the huge complexes that once graced the Vimada Forest before their wars with men and the rise of Khiben-Sald. It’s a representation of the cosmos, really, a series of nested squares with symbolic shrine-mountains all directed toward great Bahmenu, the mountain birthplace of the god Ragdya and, the vanaras believe, the center of the universe. This symmetry may serve you well, since it will help you predict the layout and functions of the temple as you make your way around it. Every corner of the temple will be fitted with a small shrine, all facing the symbolic mountain.

“Even an abandoned temple is a holy place to the vanaras, as it is to most of us Vudrani as well, and we hope you respect that fact. If you can save the sanctuary from the insolence of the gods-damned Aspis, it may draw the mirthful and enlightened eye of Ragdya himself upon our Society.”

Hello,

Was just wondering if anyone had an opinion about how weapon fusions would interact with this item.

Basically, I'm wondering if 1) you can put weapon fusions on shadow staves and 2) If you can put fusions on this item, would a single fusion interact with both "halves" of the weapon.

Personally, I don't know if there is a "right" answer to this question, but I'm curious because I have a character who is going to use one as his main weapon. And it does seem like this item is an odd duck, rule wise.

The Lorespire Complex bustles with activity as usual, with a constant stream of cabs, delivery drones, and frantic looking Starfinder recruits buzzing in and out of the giant building. You have an appointment to meet with Venture Captain Arvin in his office; but the directions were to rendezvous at a popular little tea shop, "Babbles and Bubbles," if you happened to arrive early. A teenaged Shirren in a blue apron and visor directs you to a round, dark wooden table with five chairs that have been reserved for you.

"The Starfinder lady said ya' can order any drinks you want while you're waiting. It's on the company account," she lets you know telepathically.

It looks like Arvin has given you a nice little opportunity to introduce yourselves and maybe build up a little rapport before the mission briefing.

Hello everybody! This is the discussion thread. Please feel free to use this thread for any out of character discussions, strategizing star ship combat roles, or anything else.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

I noticed on page 21 of the Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide that you are allowed to play a character that is naturally blind or deaf. The only "advantage" of doing this is that your character is automatically proficient in either the tactile or signed versions of any language they know.

Anyways, I haven't been able to stop thinking about this and I am really interested in playing a character that is naturally blind. In particular I'm thinking of making a Mystic with the empath connection. Partially because the disadvantage of being blind is partially mitagated by the blindsense(emotion) they eventually get, but mostly because a mystical blind swordsman just sounds cool to me. Anyways, I'm just wondering if anyone has actually taken the option of having a character with a natural disability in Starfinder.

Liberty's Edge

I had an idea for a three armed combat drone designed to look like a xorn and was wondering if it could use a starknife in one of its arms. Ideally I would like for it to able to use the starknife in both melee and as a throwing weapon.

I have included the text for both entries. I noticed that they both say that the weapon can not be disarmed and that it takes an hour to swap out a weapon; which implies that it is fixed to the arm. Technically, it doesn't say that a weapon can't be thrown though. I'm kind of curious if anyone else has an opinion on this. I included the relevant drone mod entries below.

Melee Weapon Arm:
Your drone is equipped with a robotic arm to which you can
affix a one-handed melee weapon, allowing your drone to
wield that weapon and attack with it. This weapon cannot
be disarmed. Wielding a two-handed melee weapon requires
two melee weapon arms. If you do not already have a weapon
to equip, you must purchase it separately. Swapping out a
weapon in a melee weapon arm requires use of your custom
rig and 1 hour of work. You can select this mod multiple
times, each time adding an additional melee weapon arm to
the drone.

Weapon Mount:
You can affix a small arm or another one-handed ranged
weapon on your drone, allowing it to wield that weapon and
attack with it. This weapon cannot be disarmed. Mounting
a longarm, a heavy weapon, or another two-handed ranged
weapon requires two weapon mounts. A weapon mount can
hold up to two batteries, two magazines, or two of another
type of ammunition for the affixed weapon, provided this
ammunition is of light bulk or less. Multiple weapon mounts
used to affix a single two-handed weapon count as a single
weapon mount for the purpose of how much ammunition it
can hold. The drone reloads these batteries or magazines
automatically, which takes the usual amount of time for the
weapon. Spent batteries or magazines are stored within the
drone. You can replace all of a weapon mount’s batteries or
magazines as a move action. You must purchase separately
or already have the weapon and ammunition for use with a
weapon mount. You can replace the weapon with any other
weapon that meets the criteria for your mount (for example,
if you have two weapon mounts, you could replace a longarm
with a heavy weapon). Swapping out a weapon in a weapon
mount requires use of your custom rig and 1 hour of work.
You can select this mod multiple times, each time adding an
additional weapon mount to the drone.

So I am playing an Order of the Cockatrice Cavalier for PFS, and I am dipping one level of rogue(thug) for the enhancement to my demoralization ability...I am a human, with an 8 Int, so I get 4 skill points normally, which I've been putting into Diplomacy, Intimidate, Ride, and Handle Animal.

My question is...I'm only planning on doing the one level of rogue, and I've got 4 extra skill points to work with, but rogue opens up almost everything as a class skill for me (except for most knowledges). What would people recommend as good skills to put just one point only in? Perception is a gimme...but are there any other skills that are worth having with just the 1 rank plus class bonus?
