Hey guys. Happy to sit at yet another kobold table. It should be a bunch of fun.

Checking in!

Ooh, I was looking at the # of players dotted in/admitted to the game and it looks like we have 7 instead of 6:
Agent Eclipse - Krall Visker
Gummy Bear - Skithryx
PDK - Kaidynn
TriShadow - Demm tad-draguni
Wei Ji the Learner - Gynnezz Bugtalker
Redelia - Midnight the Black
+
Me
If all of the above are definitely playing then I'd make a 7th player. Since I know most GMs and players prefer sticking to 6 I don't mind sitting out if you guys prefer.
Skithryx

Skyxa, I don't see Redelia/Midnight the Black in the player/character tabs... Am I missing something?
GM Badblood
|
They haven't dotted in yet. But I am ok with seven players. Kobolds are pretty compact so it should be no problem jamming an extra one into this scenario. I'll give Midnight a day or so to dot in and then we'll proceed without them.

About kobolds being compact: if you're a melee type don't forget to give your kobold 'Shoulder to Shoulder' alternate racial trait. It's pure amazing!
Skithryx

Is anyone opposed to having us stealth around as our standard form of movement (barring an instance where it would be socially inappropriate and/or we're on a strict timeline)?
GM, FYI Skithryx has the Trap Spotter rogue talent. If he spots one (+14 perception vs traps), he will T10 (27) to disable it and can handle magical traps too.

No objections to that on my end~

Yeah, I'd say keep on going, I'm going to have to opt out. Being 'essential' hasn't ended at all, and with local restrictions being extended until June, it's unlikely I can do such a 'bold team justice. Good hunting!
Sorry about this, I just... good luck.

If there is anything that can be adjusted to make it a better fit I'm open to working with you but if it's not something you don't have capacity for I completely understand. I don't expect more than 1 post a day from players and I'm not particularly rigid on that either. If you are set on dropping, then I wish you well and hope we can get our characters back together for another game at a later date.

I had a chance to sleep on this again, and I think if you just let Gynnezz join the party 'on the road' -- maybe write her in on the way or whatnot -- that should alleviate some of the issue. From a story perspective, she's a druid that deals with bugs. Going to a softscale place with her friends in a strange country might cause some serious Problems (at least at the moment) The bigger problem I was having with two or three days of active backlog is hard to parse and dig through to find everyone to respond to fairly and evenly without someone feeling like they're being ignored or left out.
Also, not going to do the color-themed text this go-round, it takes time I could be typing things and only some people can see it with the rest seeing ugly formating code.
I'll post something small in a bit.

Glad to see you'll be sticking around after all!
I do get the anxiety that comes with having a bunch of posts to catch up on at once. Depending on what's happened, what's going on, and what my general mood is I'll either try to flashback respond to earlier events before reacting to the present situation...or sometimes I'll just jump back in and react to the present situation only if it just seems too overwhelming to respond to all the earlier stuff.

Same here! Honestly, even if I'm not busy, I'll write off the parts I missed as a loss and just jump in to where they are now. Maybe I include a line about how the character was off in space or some BS, maybe I don't. IMO, that's part of the beauty of PFS's pick-up-and-play style :)

Oh no! Are you okay? Did the bad no-scales do bad things to you?
GM Badblood

Great job on the RP so far. I really like how pretty much everyone commented about not having shoes.
And to respond to an earlier comment, I do kind of wonder what the delegation that the Lantern Lodge sent was like. I can't imagine it could be anything crazier then just sending a group of all kobolds.

Maybe a group of wayangs? Despite them being legal without needing a boon I think I've seen more nagaji and samsaran characters than I have wayangs...
GM Badblood

I would say kitsunes would be the same level of weirdness and shenanigans. All the constant shape shifting...
Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of wayangs, despite the fact that they're awesome. I've toyed with a few builds but have never committed to a wayang character myself.

Gynnezz is NOT practicing safe social distancing. :P As someone who wishes people in RL would do this *normally*, that took a *lot* of mental gymnastics to reconcile.

Kitsunes are weird because while they shapeshift into human, it always has to be the SAME human... hardly a mechanical advantage.
Wayangs are just not appealing to me; I don't get what they're about and how they're supposed to be more fun to play than a gnome or halfling (or kobold!) :)
GM Badblood
|
What I like about them is that they're based on a real life style of shadow puppetry. I think they could be really cool if there was a bit more lore to flesh them out. But Kobolds have been around since the original D&D and Paizo did a great job making gnomes literally and figuratively a colorful people, so I agree.

I forgot to mention this, but there is no reason that the kobolds couldn't have waited until night time to attempt this mission. That should be true for most of the adventure actually.

There are ways around that. My kitsune bard took the Realistic Likeness feat at first level. Shenanigans a plenty!

The tails line is a complete trap. But looking like anyone you've met has come in handy more than once. I mean, essentially it is an unlimited use of Disguise Self at first level. Not too shabby.
Kaidynn
|
I've seen a few people take the feat. Most useful for martials with low skills and other non-casters. I'd argue it's a waste if you're a bard or other class which can buy a wand of disguise self.
PS: complete tangent- one thing that came to my attention last week is the 'bard on a stick' capability that comes with only 'one' level of Ranger with the Dandy archetype. You get the ability to cast all bard spells in wand form, as the archetype replaces ranger spells access with bard spells access. There's quite a lot of bard spells to choose from, and if you're a martial type, you don't lose any BAB (and rumor empathy and favored nation is also quite good especially if you play an AP in campaign mode; a bit less good in PFS)

Kaidynn mentally reaches for a blue crystalline egg, and the egg begins to glow with a bright indigo hue.
Care to share the story on this one? Is the egg real? Is this all in Kaidynn's head?

It's my attempt at describing this particular psychic magic spell. Psychic magic is purely mental, so each spell requires a mental construct for the psychic caster to channel the magic. I don't always describe the process but sometimes I try. :)

I meant to comment on this earlier, but I like the description of detect magic. I was kind of interpreting it as the egg changing in color and intensity to match what Kaidynn is detecting.

This quest is kind of free flowing. The map is there more for reference so don't worry about moving your tokens around.

The Free RPG Day PF2 scenario?
"Little Trouble in Big Absalom"
It has kobold pregens!
GM Badblood

I was thinking of naming this scenario Little Trouble in Big Tien. Kind of kicking myself now. It's great to hear that there's going to be a free kobold scenario. I've enjoyed the Skittermander ones a lot.

Ok, this part of the adventure is a very open ended chase scene. Basically, it will be broken down into three rounds. Everyone will get to decide what they are doing and make a skill check. You just need to be able to give me a reasonable explanation for how you're using the skill, although particularly clever or interesting explanations may provide a bonus. It would be a high bar to reach, but I'd be willing to accept a Linguistics or KN: History check if you have a very good explanation for how you're using it. If you're going that route, be ready to knock my socks off with your creativity.
Safe skills to use are things like Acrobatics, Climb, or Stealth.
Also, you cannot use the same skill more than twice.
You can also use spells instead of your skills. If the use of the spell is appropriate, and is equivalent to level 1 or higher it counts as an automatic success. I may allow a cantrip to achieve the same affect but you're going to need to really impress me and I'll only allow it once.
The narrative of the chase will play out based on your actions and will end once you've reached the requisite number of successes.

Gynnezz's player here. I have no idea what got into her, and apologies for the heavy IC rant!

So with the rules of this fight, you don't want to just win. You need to get style points also. You'll lose style points for doing lethal damage, using a weapon or hurting a civilian. So while you could in theory just end the fight with a single well placed color spray, that would end the fight at 0 points, whereas a well placed fireball would end the fight at a negative.
Area control spells and buffs are fine to use. Mainly you want to avoid save or die and damage dealing spells. You won't get enough points if you end the fight with those.
There are also style points awarded for using Acrobatics to make a flashy move (you'll need to use it to jump somewhere or attempt to avoid AoO, I think it's kind of lame and gamey to just Acrobatics in place every turn for the points. It should be something impressive and risky). Also, you can break furniture by pushing a target into it. This will give you points and extra damage. But no points for just breaking a chair or using it as a weapon.

Happy July 4th to those of you in/from the US and Happy Saturday to those of you elsewhere or those that opt not to celebrate!
This is my weekend off (yay!) but otherwise no special plans on my end except maybe trying to enjoy the sunshine a little bit when it's not too terribly hot :)
