![]() Click on this profile. Claire is a face-melting character! Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade) 1 / Investigator (Empiricist) X is the way to go. Rapier + Dex + Wayang + Mutagen = lots of combat capability (AC in the 30s, attack in the 20s at L7+) Expanded inspiration + 22 Int = lots of out of combat capability and the best skill monkey in the game Perception of +28+1d8 at L8 = Amazing! (in the +20 range will meet almost all PFS challenges. Lucky rolls and you will see invisible stuff!) Alchemical allocation + Good Hope + Keen Edge and you will crit frequently. Longarm + Combat reflexes and you will attack frequently. Keep STR at a 10, Con at 14, and you're survivable and credible. Dump Wis and Cha, they do nothing for you. You can save your inspiration points for saving throws (use Int vs. Wis on will saves, add your inspiration to fort saves). I used all my prestige to buy 3rd level potions, and suddenly with one extract (alchemical allocation) I am ready for just about anything! ![]()

Update that to say "Gang Up" and not "Pack Flanking". My bad! I am learning all the Teamwork Feat stuff this week. That's what led me to this thread in the first place. Also, may I present: General Dissa Ray! ![]()
![]() Perfect. I plan to create General Dissa Ray, a holy tactician paladin 3/guiding blade swashbuckler 1/exemplar brawler x. I plan to utilize a fauchard and build into paired opportunists, outflank, and pack flanking, with the ability to grant a constant 30' aura teamwork feat at L3, extras for 4-round bursts at L4, inspire courage at L7, and more teamwork feats granted at L9. Combat Reflexes, Flagbearer, and Banner of the Ancient Kings (or others) are part of the plan as well. Three companion abilities would be awesome:
These could all be the same character, but those abilities will be great to utilize the team in teamwork. I hope that plants some seeds, or helps shape the party :-) ![]()
![]() Greetings! I am working on a Holy Tactician, and stumbled across the Bardic Masterpiece "Battle Song of the People's Revolt". I would like to be able to grant an additional teamwork feat via bardic performance. The rules for bardic masterpieces state "Only a bard may learn a masterpiece" (ultimate magic) The Variant Multiclass rules state a "secondary class" is chosen at creation (pathfinder unchained) Does a VMC Bard count as a Bard for purpose of masterpieces? ![]()
![]() I would be extremely interested, as I have been trying to find a place to start a PFS Holy Tactician Paladin. I also have a boon which gives evil taint regardless of alignment. I think a party with some skullduggery, Outflank, Paired Opportunists, and an AoO theme would be very effective in the PFS environment. Would we be able to start at L1? I really like the idea of building up from scratch, and enjoy feeling connected to characters who struggled to make it. Thank you very much for the idea, and Stay Awesome! Ben ![]()
![]() Statboy, Sounds like you play lots of low-level stuff. When you start getting into levels 7+ the difference between Wizard and Sorcerer is palpable. Moreover, the conservation of spell slots becomes less of a priority, as combat rounds/day stop exceeding your spell slots. There have been breakdowns of spells per level per day. One interesting thing for you to consider is the Thassilonian specialist archetype, which splits a bit of the difference between sorcerer and wizard. You trade knowledge of 2 schools for +1 school slot per level. This nets more spells/day than sorcerer, but with limited schools. Additionally, at higher levels the power of an increased spell level outstrips the power of more spell slots. At all the odd levels the wizard will have a significant power advantage over the sorcerer. At even levels the increased spells known may or may not exceed the value of extra slots, depending on time to prepare. When I have played wizards in the past, I often change my spells prepared depending on the general activities (down-time, travel, combat intensive, exploring). If there is time to study, prepare, or plan for encounters I have specifically studied items. Your point about sorcerer having the same options is nuanced. While the time to prepare can provide both with the ability to get scrolls, the sorcerer will have to invest significantly more money or effort to gain that flexibility. Furthermore, a sorcerer will always be anchored to their spells known, driving long-term choices instead of level-specific choices. Sleep is a great spell... until 3rd level.
You should try both at levels 7+, and decide for your self if you can feel the difference. :-) ![]()

![]() To the OP: I just GM'd at a convention last weekend. The DC for level 7 characters to notice a hidden passage in a published PFS scenario was 40. I just played my L6 Wayang investigator at the same convention, and we had a combat with a flying invisible imp summoning big monsters in a small room. The casters were too busy trying to not die, but my investigator was able to pinpoint the location with a 48 perception check. The imp would have summoned another CR 5 to 9 creature in the round we waited to cast See Invisibility then Glitterdust. ![]() We are starting a Kingmaker Campaign this Saturday, and I am planning to be the “Ruler”. Furthermore, I have a concept of a racketeer on the run; choosing a life of exploration for the promise of a new start. He will be Saturn Surtova, a half-fey son of an Avatar of Maghd and a disgraced baroness of the Surtova family “Ours is the Right”. Saturn will explain himself thusly, “When men take money from businesses they do not own, it’s racketeering. When the government does it, it’s taxing.” His intent is to start his own government with a very Laissez-Faire capitalism, using a minarchist approach providing only basic security and protection of fraud. My intent is to focus on leadership, personal influence, and knowledge while being a formidable negotiator. Some story-to-mechanics aspects will include the wielding of a Scythe (Maghd’s favored weapon) as a representation that Saturn reaps where he does not sow. Also, I will be taking skill focus (Diplomacy) as no jury could convict him on any racketeering charges. He has a reputation as a Gangster of Love. Furthermore, he can dip into the knowledge of Maghd, journeying beyond Golarion to seek truth. Some people call him a Space Cowboy when he enters these trances. I plan to take 1 Level of Oracle for access to Sidestep Secret, Focused Trance, and Lorekeeper with the Legalistic Curse. From then on I plan to take Mesmerist (Cult Master Archetype) and use the class features to dominate any negotiations while personifying the benevolent dictator. Finally, I want to include VMC (Bard) for Bardic Knowledge and eventual Perform Oratory.
From a roleplay perspective I hope to use Russian accents, Russian mafia terms, while embracing the mafia mentality. How would you represent the mob boss turned king?
