I just realized that the Thassilonian Specialist archetype is not approved for PFS play, and I'm hoping someone has a minute to revisit that decision. It doesn't seem overpowered--one extra spell slot, which has to be a duplicate, in return for not being able to choose your opposition schools--and I suspect it was left out at least in part because it wasn't in the same section of Inner Sea Magic as the other archetypes (it's on page 17; they're 32-43).
Anyway. I know you're busy, guys, but if you have a moment. :)

Not only you don't get to pick your opposition schools, but you cant even prepare them, they become prohibited schools.
To be honest, my guess is that it was not just a power decision, but a flavor one as well (live vivisectionist, gravewalker witch, etc...) given that they dabble in Thassalonian sin magic, which are mostly used by the Runelords. They are the quintessential villains of Golarion, so I can see why they are banned.
Nevertheless, I really wanted to play one when I started my wizard, but I'm actually happy with the one I made. (conjurer wizard/bloatmage)

I basically play one now. I loved the flavor, so built my my Transmuter (Greed Mage) as soon as I read the write up. Vaclav has voluntarily not learned any opposition spells (illusion and enchantment). I simply haven't received the extra conjuration spell per level.
I did also had to remove Lissala as his deity when it was clarified that she is not a valid deity for PFS.

I play Eldarius of Thassilon as well , evoker type, somehow released from stasis under the Old Light in 4208AR. He also worships Lissala.
Will where did you see Lissala was banned from being worshipped?
I know deriving powers (spellcasting, etc) was never approved.

Characters can elect to worship any deity listed in a table of gods in the Core Rulebook, The Inner
Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic, or any other source listed as an official Additional Resource.
Seems to apply to all characters, not just divine ones. So instead of worshiping Lissala, you're going to have to merely revere her and just say you're worshiping her.

Were they always restricted from play? I remember looking up them specifically before Gen Con to make a wizard. Were they removed from play recently?
EDIT: Sometimes I forget what is listed is legal, and what is not list is illegal. But that gets reversed for the big books like APG, UM, UC, etc. I guess I'll just be a normal illusionist then.

When building a new character for Pathfinder Society Organized Play, you may make use of the Thassilonian magic rules on page 17 of Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Magic. As with other rules outside the core assumption, you must provide a legal copy of the book to use this option.
Are you building a new character? If yes, then you can use the boon. It isn't limited to one character.

I read it the same way as Michael, but I could definitely see iy being read the other way. That said, I'm not sure how often it to would come up. *shrug*
Yeah, I think the confusion can come in with the fact that boons that grant these kinds of options are usually one-shots, but this doesn't have a "cross it off" rule, or anything to really tack to the new character... you have to haul around the character that went through the scenario (or at least the chronicle sheet) as proof. It's primarily based on previous experience with limited access races, but the boon itself doesn't strictly limit itself in either way.
I'm in favor of reading as you do, but I've heard the latter from a couple folks.
