I was looking before I posted and found this thread on the same subject. My reading supports Almarane. It is in line with them trying to even out action economy.

Animal Companions, am I doing this right?

it says that an Animal Companions follows your commands to the best of their ability. I can not find anywhere that you don't have to use the handle animal action before using the command animal action.

The benefit as I see it is because it has the minion trait when you use the command animal action it gets two actions instead of just one.

Has anybody found anything that's in the book that is different from my reading?

I still remember PFS Season 0 at GenCon with GM's running cold and learning the rules.

Odd. Season 0 used the 3.5 rules and the Beta was out before season one kicked in. Not much of a jump from Beta to Core Rulebook. A few changes but hardly running cold.

With the favored weapon being the gauntlet (lethal damage with an unarmed attack). Does a Cleric of Ng get Improved Unarmed Attack as a bonus feat or should it be Spiked gauntlet?

thoughts?

What is "causing" the effect is magic. You see it (B&W or Color) and are in the 15' cone, make a save.

Grand Lodge

It is a mind affecting pattern. I would rule that you just need to see the effect and be in the area. So anyone in the party that did not have darkvision, or if they shut their eyes (like avoiding a gaze effect). They would not need to make a save. Other GM's may rule differently, but yours did not. If it hinged on the color then putting on rose tinted glasses would make the spell fizzle.

Congrats to all the new 5 stars. Long may you shine!

Starting a group from the ground up in North Bay, On. Core has been great for us. Those of us who have been around for a while can replay in Core so we round out the table. Also, we have two people who are willing to try their hand as GM because they can run Core. In my old group we have a few people who like to try and break the game. They like core for the challenge.

He has always been a mix of Miracle Max and Joe Pesci when I run him. I also pronounce his name the same way John does.

Congrats and best of luck!

# 6 Black Waters is my favorite to run. Great setting and lots of chances to Role Play. You need to flesh out some details but it has some of my favorite NPC's to run in some very creepy settings.

# 1 Silent Tide is tied as my number 2. Fun NPC that shows up later in the seasons and a tour of Absalom. Nifty story and a few cool environments to have combats in.

# 5 Mists of Mwangi my other number 2. First Blackrose adventure and has led to some of the most memorable/funniest role play in PFS for our group.

A big issue with many of the season 0 (and season 1 for that matter) adventures is that they do not play out as well if you are not using the faction missions. I suggest you ask the PC's to attempt using them to get the full effect.

I would suggest Mummy's Mask or Shattered Star as a Point A to Point B type of AP. Kingmaker is very open ended. Better described as getting 10 minor points, to do in any order you feel works best. They lead you to a major point. Once they are done you get 10 more minor points that lead you to another major point, and so on.

We just moved from an area with a large established group that had been playing since season 0 to an area that had no PFS play. Core is a great way for the three of us who have played all but the new stuff to sit at a table with new players and help show them the ropes.

We also get to dust off some of our favorites from the past and run them again.

Core has been good for a few of the new players who were interested in trying to GM, but were intimidated by all the books they had to digest.

We have some younger players who were overwhelmed by all the options. Core has been great for them.

Congrats!!

Loved the story, hated to see it end.

Grand Lodge

Having the same issue here! We had new players at a convention over the weekend and they were issued PFS numbers. No idea when they will actualy register their character, but until then we are unable to report the entire game.

If this is the new norm it will make reporting for games with new players very difficult.

Grand Lodge

Enjoying the heck out of this. Great story and very interesting characters!

Grand Lodge

I think now that there are twice the amount of scenarios (Core and normal) it broke "Show all scenarios". I came here to report it as well.

On this front, Mike, you might consider making a regional language list or table in the PFSGtOP. You might have to errata the guide midseason, but that makes more sense than a Varisian who can't speak Varisian. Just a suggestion.

I was just thinking this.

It may have to wait for the new guide later this year, but it would be better then hunting for boons so you can speak your native tongue.

Grand Lodge

My heartfelt condolences to family and friends.

Grand Lodge

Good job! I am enjoying it. Found a question you posted that I did ot see an answer for. Here is the backup you requested.

@aatea: Thanks for building him. It will be a great basis to compare him to my work in progress...

I find it interesting that Hero Lab does not allow Protection from Evil for him. Is there backup in the rules somewhere? That does not sound familiar to me at all.

Protection from Evil is a good spell. Clerics of a evil god may not cast it. I snipped the bit from the PRD below.

PRD wrote:
Chaotic, Evil, Good, and Lawful Spells: A cleric can't cast spells of an alignment opposed to her own or her deity's (if she has one). Spells associated with particular alignments are indicated by the chaotic, evil, good, and lawful descriptors in their spell descriptions."

Hands down Black Waters is a great creepy adventure for low levels. Ramp up the Role Play to 11 and it is a creep fest. It is season 0 but there is a ton of stuff on the boards for it. Plus all the 3.5 stuff is still on the internet.

July 17th 2010 at my first PFS event (PaizoConUK) they were short on GM's for the Special: "Year of the Shadow Lodge" so I raised my hand and moved to the other side of the screen. A good 10 minutes of prep later and I was off!

Weekly games at the house and running at conventions for the next few years.

5 star game was on Feb 1st 2014 at Conception UK "The Flesh Collector"

I am an American and all but one of my games were run in the UK. Next month I am off to Canada for three years with my VL Wife. Expect to see some spikes in reporting from North Bay!
