We must bring it down quickly!" To back up his suggestion, Varn utilizes his magics in an attempt to frighten the demon to death! He summons up the power of his newly acquired rod and summons up an incredibly powerful illusion in the form of the most terrifying image the demon could possibly imagine! SR Check: 1d20 + 18 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 18 + 2 + 2 = 35 Piercing Metamagic Rod reduces the target's SR by 5 for this check. Using Reveal Weakness on the Nabasu (-4 penalty to all Saving Throws and AC for 1 Round. Then Activating Coupled Arcana and burning 1 MP to activate Wild Arcana to cast Mythic Phantasmal Killer. Total cost of 2 MP. The Nabasu must make a Will save DC 23 with a -4 penalty (from Reveal Weakness. If he fails his Will save, he must then immediately make a Fortitude save with the same saving throw and penalty as above. If he fails the Will save, but passes the Fort save then he takes the normal 3d6 damage and gains the Dazed condition for 1 round (mythic version of the spell) and then must make another Fort save the following round with the same DC or suffer the effects of the spell. Lastly, I looked over the spell's descriptors and the demon's immunities. While it is immune to death effects, nothing in this spell's descriptors advise 'death effects', therefore I believe that the spell should work. This is assuming that the demon has no other specific unmentioned immunities beyond the basics of a nabasu. ![]()

![]() Okay, I'm trying to decide what to spend Varn's cash on. I'd like to upgrade my Headband and I'm toying with either picking up a staff or a wand of some sort. Any of you fine folks have any good suggestions? I'd thought about grabbing a Staff of Fire, that would provide Varn with some decent offensive capabilities and I can focus my daily spells on things more keen toward dealing with demons. I think those just stay in the library area that Varn plans on taking over and his new abode. Monocle of Unveiled Auras (if I understand correctly would be amazing for Varn, +5 untyped bonus to penetrate magical protections.. would that include overcoming Spell Resistance?), Golden Holy Symbol (for Tzad), Everburning Lantern, Bracers of Shield Mates (For Aeron and Orlando). ![]() I haven't finished leveling Varn yet, sorry. I'm still debating on my Mythic Feat as my option is between Mythic Spell Penetration or Mythic Craft Wondrous Item. I'm not sure if the Crafting feat will really be useful at this moment in time. ![]() I think that is a good idea, Aeron. I'm thinking about going with Abundant Casting for my next Archmage power as that could definitely get interesting with save or suck spells for Varn. I'm not sure on what mythic feat to take. I'm hoping to take over the library tower for Varn as his new home for remaking the Riftwardens. Those books would be very useful and I'd love to be able to utilize his Craft Wondrous Item feats (and even the mythic variation if I choose that as my feat); however, I don't want to choose that as a feat unless I know for a fact that I will actually be able to utilize it. HP: 1d8 ⇒ 2 - This game really wants me to die... I think most of my HP rolls have been on the very low end. ![]()

Varn isn't technically targeting the shadow demon itself. I'm targeting the shell of the shadow demon and the spells implemented upon it... If SR that high is expected throughout the AP, then I think Eldritch Breach just may be the next mythic option I select... That's a very high check to have to beat at this level.
