Looking into it spell that target the host body SR would not come into play but spells that target the mind (like suggestions) SR applies. IMO would be pretty funny for someone to use suggestion to ask the demon to leave the host and have it work
Alright so Varn didn't need to roll SR on this so you get that MP back and successfully dispel the possession of the demon forcing him out.
Tessai fails to climb up (dc is 20). Takes a bit of damage from spikes spike damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 1 damage dealt.
Tzad can change his action.

![]() |

Is there any way to know where the Shadow Demon might have gone? And what happens to the host body as the demon leaves? I am assuming that we know that the demon has been forced out... right? If so...
Tzadkiel immediately casts Magic Circle Against Evil 10'r on Lith. The Azteka then flies to the Paladin speaking to him in true speach. I am Lith, agent of Milani and I would help protect you for a time if you will have me.
Unsure of where the shadow demon's sour jar actually is Tzadkiel moves to protect his friends. His goal is to make sure all his allies have some protection from evil on them.
If the shadow demon can use these crystal things as its soul jar then its likely we can never get it out and retreat with the paladin is the best option. Would be nice to find the things body but it may not even be in this room. Thoughts?

DireMerc |

In this case I am treating it more like the spell possesion, greater than magic jar as it is more accurate so the demon simply pops out in the space next to the host. As a note when an incorporeal creature uses magic jar he doesn't leave a body behind he simply vanishes into the creature.

![]() |

OK. Action is the same. So we now see the shadow demon standing beside the Paladin. Paladin is wounded and the shadow demon is not, right? If you don't have Protection from Evil up, you better be within 10' of Tzad or Lith. Also how does the Shadow Demon react to the bright light from Tzadkiel's spell?

Hurray for Varn ingenuity! Also, I agree with you conclusion on how the SR would interact with the shadow demon. I also agree that Possession definitely fits the shadow demon better than Magic Jar.

Yes, well done Varn. I am quite happy that the demon is not using those crystals as magic jars. lol. Is the ex-host now our best friend? He was armed. will he now begin to attack the demon?

Tessai Saradesh |

Wait, is the shadow incorporeal? Now that I've seen the real casters take on its SR, Tessai doesn't have much of a shot beating it, but she did pack Ghostbane Dirge.

REMINDER FROM THE GODDESS MILANI: USE THE SCALE...

![]() |

Do we have an epic weapon? Maybe Tess's sword? Others? You need magic to harm incorporeal so might as well add that to the "and" stream. And cold iron is difficult/expensive to enchant too. So its hard to bypass the DR even without the epic part.

![]() |

Likely never gonna get Ghostbane to stick with a paladin's caster level. Even a nat 20 would not bypass SR. Anyone have a ghost touch weapon?

Orlando Nedraid |

Reluctantly, Orlando pulled out the Wardstone shard he took as a memento. The one that still held a memory of holy power.
Praying to Cayden Cailean, he carefully rubbed it into the blade of his enchanted cold iron rapier...

Tessai will need to use her scale on the next turn.
Othello moves up next to Tzad and fires several arrows at the demon to little effect.
The shadow demon seem mighty angry.
"Insolent mortals! You dare! Just die already!"
He steps back from Aeron and the freed paladin and gathers up an immense amount of power is his hand as a sphere of ice and shadows forms. He launches it right at Tzad. At the last moment Othello moves in the way taking the orb right to the chest. It explodes unleashing it's energy throughout the whole room.
84 cold damage hitting the whole room. Dc 24 will save (take 60% damage if you make it) and reflex dc 24 for half.
Othello is frozen solid and the blast of frost finishes off the wounded paladin.

This brings up an issue for Tzad. He could use a mythic point to cast Breath of Life for Othello who he can reach even prone but I know Othello is leaving the game and there is no real game mechanic for him to jump into the way of the attack. So instead Tzad will channel again, twice. The move action channel costs him a mythic point.
