Silver Crusade

Peace through horizontal blindness
Rogue (Thug) 7, Monk 2 (maneuver master)

Silver Crusade

Bo wanders over to the crash and hands the... (sorry no knowledge local or planes)...a mirror.

Um, here you might want this.

Silver Crusade

After seeing all the regal folks show up, Bo looks carefully at his tea...snifs it..dabs a bit on the napkin.

Hallit - "laced with mushrooms perhaps?"

He finds his way to the door.

Silver Crusade

Bo looks around, doesnt see anyone else paying and slides a stack of 10 gold coins across the lacquered table. He then places a cloth over the coins with an open corner towards the host.

Silver Crusade

Hattash, I dont recall the unnamed country... does it border Taldor? I ran into some monkeys, monks who appreciate study and perfection and brutal beatings in the name of peace... anyway I love new things.

Silver Crusade

Taldane is a little easier than Tea N. Bo points to a green tea on the menu.

I used to throw big things at people and get real mad all the time. Then I met A mare Lee and went to Tea N to seek peace. I found it. Peace through horizontal blindness.

Bo seems unsettled. I think you folks have better tales than me. I'm just a monk.

Silver Crusade

A disheveled man in a clean but worn shirt enters. He looks at the assembled patrons with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. His accent is atrocious, as the stumbles out the following words in Tien.

"So, I heard there were some Tea N stuff going on around here. I used to know A mare and Lee, then she go away."

He mumbles in Hallit, "Hope that was right."

Silver Crusade

Um, I daresay the locals are nearly as adamant in their ferocity. You will fit in well, wheras I find myself an odd man out in my quest for peace.

Silver Crusade

Um...murder? I thought I was here for peace, love, and harmony through horizontal blindness.

Silver Crusade

Bo swirls the tea in his clay mug, snifs it, looks back again at the elemental and Rhone departure, shrugs again and drinks the tea.

Silver Crusade

Bo looks around the room at all the ....exotic people. Then goes to side wall muttering prayers to Irori.

Silver Crusade

Its obvious the butler did it after he knocked off Aroden in the green room with a candlestick. He then moved over to the conservatory and laid down vile magics against the Ruby Prince.

Silver Crusade

Demons! Bo looks around over his shoulder. Tricksy demons pretending to be all sorts of nice and peaceful, then wammo try to eat your eyeballs and be all wierd n stuff talking nonsense in my head.

Eh Rhon's here if there were demons he'd detect em. You would right Rhon, unless you were a Demon! Nah, Demons wouldn't impersonate Rhon that would be too hard to pull off.

Silver Crusade

A disheveled man in a torn shirt wanders over to the growing gathering. His manner is an odd muxture of Tien and Kellid.

Its always nice to see another Kellid. Not that I am looking to go back, Ear IS In is a good place to be from.

*Hallit* Daen Taldane language keeps tripping me up.

I have lots of education, I bought my own book and have been filling in the wisdom of Bo throughout the ages. Check back in a few years and you can buy a few copies, they will make excellent gifts.

Silver Crusade

Bo wannders in, his shirt a patchwork of tailor mends and odd rust colored stains. He looks over the assembly and finds a quiet space on the floor to sit.

I went into some strange emerald dungeon, lots of wierd things. I hope I can do some sky key missions soon, or turning those Aspis agents into gardeners. Or finding a strange woman in a veil...although my buddy in the sovereign court claims his father wants revenge or something. Just live and let garden that's my policy.

Except Demons and Undead horrors...no reasoning with them. He looks at his shirt, tried it once just not practical I guess.

Well... I've been advised by two of my local GMs that the rogue/monk hardly ever "works." I am taking that to mean you may be true to your concept but you will never really contribute to the party in a meaningful way.

<sigh>
OK. I'm thick but not entirely stupid. I'll go back to searching the boards on basic Core monk, I guess. :-(

A. people don't like rogues, I love them as a rogue enthusiast. Its my personal form of deviancy.

B. never contribute - I'm into my 11th tracked table of rogues, out of 30+ (individual) players none have indicated the (does not contribute to the game box) on the tracking sheets. Once I hit 20 sheets I'll post the results.

Maneuver master monk 2-5 levels
Rogue Thug 5+

Feats
Dirty Trick
Imp Trip
Sap Adept
Sap Master
Two Weapon Fighting
Enforcer

Talents
Minor Magic - acid splash
Major Magic - True Strike
optional - ninja trick pressure points
(Advanced Rogue Talent (whenever you get there - Dispelling strike))

The rest according to your preferences.

Actions
You move and true strike (to within 5' of target). Next round trip +20 insight +whatever else you have at that level. He's on the ground, go for the dirty trick (+4 prone) to blind. Depending on your level hit the blind prone guy with remaining attacks.

With your unarmed strike (doing nonlethal) - to a blinded prone target (+6 - target no dex / no aoo) activate sap master unless he has uncanny dodge. double SA dice, apply (Thug) brutal beating for sickened condition. Doing non lethal damage activates enforcer (intimidate check) if you beat target by 10 he gains the frightened condition (Thug - Frightening) if you simply beat the target # he is shaken for 2+ rounds.

So you've put the following conditions on the target
Prone
Blind
Sickened
Shaken or Frightened

Level 2-3 for me was harder than my traditional rogues. I'm level 7 now (2 Monk, 5 Rogue) and its been fun. He'll be a monster around 11 (where much of PFS ends for me as I've played out most of the high level content - adventure paths).

Play what you want.

Silver Crusade

It depends (to me)

Some foes can never change (demons devils etc.) Most Humanoids have the possibility of change. Some (Trolls, Giants, etc) are too powerful to let wander on their own. All my lawful good & neutral bring (humanoids) back alive for trial.

Dming - I am not your conscience. It is dastardly but not inherently evil to be judge & jury & executioner. It only matters in the rare cases of monks and most paladins.

Silver Crusade

This character usually starts with Tstrike (using a true strike wand) then round 2 goes for dirty trick blind then the trip with no dex and +2 due to blindness. Then any remaining attacks go into flatfooted prone. If I hit I grant the sickened condition (brutal beating thug) and either shaken or frightened with my intimidate (enforcer).

Current level 7 - mm2, lw2, R3

Target lv 12
Maneuver master 2, Lore warden 3, Rogue Thug 7

Silver Crusade

Hey there Doyle, I follow the crusade's lawful and good actions far better than most of my colleague's in the pathfinder society (yes its a low bar).

I only do lethal damage to undead, summoned outsiders, and constructs. Everything else gets a chance to live in peace, a single chance.

"When do we hit Villains in Face?"says the young half orc.

After they are tripped and blinded. For you see pain is the natural feeling in the growth of your soul. Without intense pain, conversion is not permanent. So yes hit them in the face, kick them squarely in the (redacted) and then announce, "Truely your path is of a gardener! Give up the path of death and war, the flowers will thank you!"

Silver Crusade

[spoiler=backstory]The backstory has been in a number of threads, this guy started as a barbarian hurler. However at level 1.2 I realized the build wasnt going to be workable at 7-11.

So, I switched to monk rogue dirty trickster / tripper. Made a story of his illiterate self admiring Amara Lee, traveling to Tien (w/o knowing the language) to seek wisdom, joining up with a group of Irorian monks who grew tired of the stinking barbarian following them around. They eventually knocked him unconscious and ran away.

However from his point of view, he spoke Tien by naturally learning it (not really). The monks kept saying IrorI (ee or ee - sounds like the sound a donkey makes) and made up the plural of monk - monkeys. Hence donkey speaking monkeys. Doesn't really speak Tien. And while he was unconscious he seemed at peace so peace through horizontal blindness. [\spoiler]

Silver Crusade

I recently took the test of Kar Tuata, my donkey speaking monkeys had led me astray! Now I cant even speak Tea N. I have been living a Lie!

On a lighter note, I was not able to use the powers of horizontal blindness to achieve peace in the combat. (No dirty tricks allowed)

Yet I can now take levels in Knowledge Religion, and my open language slot is now dwarven. I'll take 2 more monk levels R5 M2 -》 R5 M4, and then keep rogue advancing.

Silver Crusade

I played this as a monk2 rogue5, follower of Irori. The intro section was superb, ability challenges tests and a nice little end fight. Not a fan of that ACG spell.

Silver Crusade

I find it very amusing when people scream "Are you a Paladin!" as if it were a crime in itself.

Most of your general principles are fine, but offing people's pets and summoned creatures is a little over the top.

It's fun being good. But griefing can go both ways. I've seen a paladin grief specialist and a Chelaxian grief specialist...not at the same table but both were troubling. I asked both, "why are you a parhfinder? What are the tenents of membership? Can you be a pathfinder and do what you are doing?

Change the world one day at a time.

Silver Crusade

Spoken in Tien, but with obvious language issues

You armor smells very Big. Have goat for coloration? May your spirit be bright and hope dress happily.

Bo smiles, as if he did a good job of it.

Silver Crusade

I prefer peace through horizontal blindness, but enlightenment is not a single path through the forest of evil and whatnot.

Silver Crusade

Yes and the lighting is bad, her followers have that sad tired look all the time, the plants seem to wrap around your legs, the books keep crying, and ... wait you aren't talking about Zarta are you.

Silver Crusade

Bo responds, you take my meaning in the wrong. Righty will not accept the payment you say. Obtain any member of the Calistrian clergy to recommend his help and he will not decline.

Bo's speech is broken as he translates Hallit to Taldane.

Silver Crusade

If you do take them up on the plan there are two methods of coercion. The Marquis is an ardent follower of Calistria. Especially, the Riddleport temple...although any cleric would have his immediate attention. He ahem died recently so avoid talks of risky ventures.

Tellesar's motivation is to duel, phrase the quest as a challenge of his ability and he wont deny it. He is a Pharasman, so avoiding the grave isnt a motivation he would support.

Elves are curious fellows.

Silver Crusade

Bo looks up, Suhaila - I'm unavailable for teleports, but several of my less than lawful friends would be happy to accomodate you. You can find them west of Absolom in their elven enclave. Both are arcane casters, Righy of Taldor known as the Marquis du Ruum and Telessar Talimah of the Sczarni. Both are somewhat odd ..Bo looks around the room....but who isn't.

Silver Crusade

Wow, you folks are really weird (I really fit in here). Hanging in the rafters, obedience to various gods..... Maybe, I should try that out sometime. The Donkey speaking Monkeys told me I should look up "E or E" if I ever got out of T' N'. They did seem adamant about me leaving, once I was trained in the ways of peace through horizontal blindness. So I came here...stopping by way of some strange island of eating people...it really wasn't on the way, but wow did those guys need peace.

Silver Crusade

I met some Ifrit chaps in Que Dear A. They made me very confused about law then my new friends started hurting people, so I made them cry, turned them into gardeners, and peace returned to the valley.

Crying is especially important in Gardening in desert areas, the plants get very little water.

Do you know what's going on? These fancy people speak so fast I was lost when everyone was happy and threatening each other with a sword.

Silver Crusade

I don't enjoy the killing. But I tried to make peace through horizontal blindness with a ghoul and it didn't work. (In Taldane)

Bo puzzles a little then adds in Hallit, Undead may be immune to peace due to necromatic influences on the soul.

Sorry Taldane isn't my first language.

Silver Crusade

Bo watches and listens, staying quiet like he's a super wise monk...but he's just confused and doesn't have a bluff or positive charisma score to rely upon.

Silver Crusade

Bo smiles, don't drink to excess...
lawful aura (over 5th level)

Silver Crusade

Dralneen was right all the good girls do come here. Its better than the opera and the blades are real. I wonder what my monkey brothers would say if they were here....probably I couldn't understand it anyway as I don't speak Tea In very well. Then I'd get pummeled until I was sleeping. Eh, life goes on...

Silver Crusade

Not sure I would want to live in chaos land. Seems like the puddles of the North.

Silver Crusade

Sword breaker dagger perhaps +4 to sunder and disarm blades

Silver Crusade

Well if you weigh the same as a duck you must be a witch. If your vambrance weighs the same as a duck, treat it with suspicion it may be a paladin in disguise.

Silver Crusade

Its also hilarious to play a lawful good rogue.

We need to open this door can anyone pick locks
Sure do we have a search warrant? (Bo)

I think we should just tie up these guys (Bo)
Nah coup em and toss em off the cliff
Um, I cant do that its not right. (Bo)
Are you a paladin!
Yes?

Silver Crusade

Yes, Maneuver master 2 / Rogue Thug 5

feats - weapon finesse, enforcer, two weapon fighting, sap master

Rogue talents - nin trick pressure points, com tr - sap adept

trait - heirloom weapon - hooked lance, reactionary

monk bonus feats - imp dirty trick, imp trip

Human alternate skill focus intimidate lv 1 and skill focus umd level 8

Conditions to place
Sickened via thug
Frightened via thug
Shaken via intimidate
Blind via dirty trick
Prone via trip

Debuffs
Pressure points -1 str or dex per sneak attack
Eventually working towards dispelling strike

Im split about more rogue levels or 3 level of lore warden. My thought is rogue 6 then LW 3 to gain overall 5 on cmb/d, plus 2 feats

I tend to use umd true strike wand as I move in. Then land a trip and try a blind. Depending on the reaction and blind result the following round is a blind + 2 sneak attacks.

Silver Crusade

Rhon, no I am a Pathfinder I offered the throat cutter my dagger in the spirit of cooperation so he could murder the helpless people in the true nature of being a hero of legend from the pathfinder chronicles. Oddly, he grew squeamish instead as I called his bluff. He seemed much more gracious when I saved him from an untimely death some minutes later.

I don't see the need to impose my will on others. I will cooperate with my colleagues, but I make it clear as a donkey speaking monkey of ee or ee, that good is a harder path to follow and laws aren't necessarily applied only while under observation.

Silver Crusade

Bo ponders Bree Bran, do you happen to weigh the same as a duck?

Maybe my Taldane isn't good enough, the way the other pathfinders reacted to my good and honorable actions was one akin to being claimed a witch. A sense of suspicion and avoidance.

The way of peace through horizontal blindness is a hard road to travel.

Silver Crusade

Yes sir, and if you act honorably and good you are suspected of being a paladin of I owe me a day instead of being a simple monkey trying to help people starving to death. This paladin thing is a kind of witch I take it?

The other guys were kinda insistent that I could be as evil as I wanted to be unless I was a pal. I said of course sure I'm friendly and cutting throats isn't my way.....it takes all kinds to be a pathfinder society I guess.

(Finished valley of the flesh eaters)

Silver Crusade

I also like to play my bad tripper (monk - maneuver/rogue-thug)

True strike wand move in
5', Trip, dirty trick blind, kick to "vital area", intimidate to frighten, "go run along home to momma, you can die out here."

Silver Crusade

Or you can use true strike to turn cmb into your friend.

Since fighter joins the lofty class of Rogue in infamy, I've been seriously looking at Cad for a fighter rogue / which gives me the skill points you've sought. However the medium armor requirement impedes that for you.

2 levels of Monk Maneuver master gives you +3 to all saves and the ability to tap in a maneuver each round of attacks.

My favorite maneuver pair is Dirty Trick & trip (peace through horizontal blindness)

Silver Crusade

I went Rogue-Thug, Maneuver Master (blind/trip) - you don't need vanish when the target can't see you. Sap master adds a bit of damage when you can do non lethal. Overall you can put the following conditions on the target. Dex build is where I went - with an amulet of mighty fists (agile)

blind (lasts until the target gets a move action)
sickened
prone
shaken (and/or) panicked (depending on your intimidate roll)

I thought about ninja - but you have to go either wisdom or charisma..and I don't see charisma really being a big need compared to wisdom. So get the ki pool from the monk, then add ninja (2 ki pools will stack off the first ability used.)

So far no troubles - except a double snake eyes save or die (I don't care what bonus you have on saves double ones will take you out.)

Silver Crusade

The group I had was ok with it, but it ranks up there with the drowning stones in the (I wont DM it for kids under 17.) Having a PC perform canibalism on a rotting corpse is just out there.

Silver Crusade

I played this at Ucon, it was by far one of the most disturbing episodes.

Rinaldo has not participated in any online campaigns.
