This may be considered a philosophical or scientific question for you. I don't care how you approach answering this question: does the Off-Topic Discussion Forum actually exist. Yes we can see "it", but we can not touch it, feel it, taste it, and smell it. Its like saying a hallucination is real.

Based on this criteria, I can not say that this forum exists. If you have another wrong opinion then feel free to share it. However, unless someone can provide me with concrete proof, then this forum and all of the posts on it do not exist. This includes my posts. Your thoughts?

As of today, Thursday, March 28, 2019, unreal-world Paizo threads are no longer going to be hosted on paizo.com. The increased attention and resources needed from the Paizo staff to address issues present in Paizo driven threads detracts from time that we'd would prefer to have pointed at other un-meaningful contributions to our community and the products we don't create and don't support. Our goal with the forums is to create a multidimensional space that brings extraterrestrials together. After a trial of putting these Paizo topics on and off pause, our team has determined that these threads cause more trituration and poor perspicacity than should be allowed to continue, and runs counter to that overall design.

Spam Song!

At some point in the distant future (that we know of) the Off-Topic Discussions Thread will end. We all know this. Therefore, I propose that we let this thread be the last one. There's no reason to wait until a thread about cheese (for example) becomes the last one on this forum due to random chance.

Here you have your chance to post your goodbyes or to say something you have always wanted to post, but were afraid to. What would I like to post here? I am glad you asked. I would like to say thank everyone for reading and responding to my posts. Also, I would like to receive some free Pathfinder products for my contributions to this forum.

Thank you...

As we all know, Metaphysics is the essential question of the nature of the human (and nonhuman) mind. It is based on abstract, and sometimes excessively abstract, reasoning. It deals with the transcending physical matter or the laws of nature and it is characteristic of the many metaphysical poets that we are all fans of.

HOWEVER, do to the very nature of Metaphysics and the inherent danger to the very Fabric of Reality that Metaphysical debates may incite, I cannot in all good conscience allow those types of threads to be hosted on Paizo.com. There are plenty of other Metaphysical forums on the Internet that have the built in safety protocols to deal with the often intense (and reality altering) debates that true Metaphysics inspires.

I hope that you, my friends, are not too disappointed by this decision, but Metaphysically speaking this is probably not really happening anyway...or is it?

Go ahead and ask your questions, my friends. However, the answers may not be what you are expecting. There could be five types of responses:

1) I may actually answer your question.

2) I may answer your question with another question.

3) I may answer your question by typing in random letters and numbers.

4) I may use contemporary dance to answer your question.

5) I may find a way to answer your question that is beyond the so called limits of the human mind and imagination.

So with that being said, you may begin...

Okay, I know at first glance it seems silly not allowing hypothetical threads on Paizo.com, but is it really? I mean after all, isn't it all hypothetical anyway? Do to the ambiguous nature of these types of threads, you can see how troublesome they can be to the Paizo.com staff. Therefore, I felt I had no choice in making this hypothetical decision...hypothetically speaking of course...

At the beginning of the film RED we see Christmas decorations being put up by Moses around his house, so we can assume this movie takes place during the holiday season. Therefore, should it be put on the list of Christmas movies? I need to know...

I saw The Infinity War last night, just so I would not be subjected to spoilers. It has been 10 years and 17-18 films leading up to this movie last night (and the sequel in one year). My spoiler free reaction to it is OMG!

I did not expect what I saw last night. To say it was shocking is an understatement of the highest order. OMG, OMG, OMG!

Anyway there will be spoilers on any future posts, but not from me now.

Bill Cosby has been found guilty of 3 counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault today. What are your thoughts?

Please don't move this thread to the Homebrew section, because I already have a thread there and this world should be more off-topic like. Thanks. :)

This is a world that will be based on your avatars, including mine. Based on the name and art of the avatar, I will create a brief description of your character and make a place in the Home Brewed World for him or her. Also, you may create your own brief description too. Be warned, however, that I may change it around to fit into this world's concept. I don't know what the concept is yet.

This is all being done in anticipation of the new edition of the Pathfinder RPG coming soon. I will order a copy, and I am certain it will become the greatest edition of any rpg ever made. I am looking forward to it!

For my avatar, Farael the Fallen, I am going to go by the obvious: he's over 7 feet tall, muscular, has pointy ears, and he's blue. Farael has the el at the end of his name, so I will make him an Angel. He was cast out of the Heavens for refusing to fight in an angelic war up there, which is why he is a fallen angel. He's not a bad guy, but he's also no longer part of the Heavenly angels so he's in-between. He is stuck on this world in-between the Heavens and the Hells, so he wanders the lands trying to survive and help people. That's his story.

Okay please begin. By the way, if there are no contributions I may look at other avatars and sort of improvise...lol

Okay guys, I know many of you like to sew and you like talking about different types of threads, but due to the controversy surrounding it any discussions involving Metallic Threads are no longer be hosted on Paizo.com.

If you want to have discussions about Cotton, Corespun Polyester (also called poly-wrapped poly core), Filament Polyester, Monofilament Polyester, Spun Polyester, Rayon, Nylon, and even Glittar or Myllar threads you are free to do so. However, any discussions on Metallic Threads would be a violation.

As most of you know, Metallic threads are created from multiple layers of materials wrapped and twisted together. The quality of metallic threads range from very high to very low. A good metallic thread does not require a lubricant. Superior's metallic threads have a strong nylon core, a thin layer of rice paper and a special outer coating that keeps the silver foil from rubbing against the needle. The advantages of Superior's metallic thread is: beautiful sheen and excellent stitch quality when embroidered, quilted, or sewn. The disadvantages of metallic thread is: tension adjustments are required and stitching speed may need to be decreased.

It is because of these inherent disadvantages that we can no longer have Metallic Thread discussions on Paizo.com, because it just ends up in an argument and that's not what we want here. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Goodnight...

I am going to do the fantasy world building exercise 30 Days of WorldBuilding that I found on this

website:
http://www.web-writer.net/fantasy/days/index.html.
. I will take the 30 days and see how it goes.
The introduction is that you will take 15 minutes a day for 30 days to create a fantasy world. Everyday you write down the exercises (like homework) in a notebook or blog. I will use this thread. Here we go...

Day 1: Climate and Variety

In essence, you are supposed to look at maps and look at the climates they are in. Quickly look at them and write down a list. Then, read the list and write down 1 or 2 words to describe the climate in that area. Use adjectives if possible, but nouns are okay. I have done that and here are my results:

Antarctic: cold, frozen, lost
South Atlantic Ocean: vast, watery, travel
Mato Grosso Plateau: warm, lost world, isolated
Peru-Chile Trench: sunny, warm, barrier
Central America: warm, community, homeland of mom
Sonoran Desert: hot, journey, isolated
Coastal Range of California: ocean, barriers, quest
Sierra-Nevada Mountains: majestic, monumental
Great Basin: vastness, heartland
Great Lake Desert: dry heat, alone, ruins
Ozark Plateau: separated, river ways, cultures
Northwest Territories: frontier, cold, adventure
Nunavut near Arctic Circle: very cold, unknown culture and language

I don't know if I did this exercise exactly right, but I did see the different climates of Earth. Its obviously very cold at the north and south poles. The website mentioned the "Midnight Sun" where the Sun can shine 24 hours a day. And it gets more temperate closer to the Equator.

I sort of see why I did this exercise, because it showed me the different climates and how I felt about them. I think its a good start. End Day 1...

This is something new and different that I just thought of. What if there was a fantasy/sci-fi world based on Off-Topic discussion threads? What would this type of world look like? As I look through the threads here I see some that are ripe for exploitation, especially the threads devoted to Nietzsche and Vegetarianism. Let me add here that those subjects are no longer hosted on Paizo.com.

It would be a very bizarre world to say the least, but one that is connected firmly to the off-center of Earth. It would be a world where the Jaguars actually had a chance to beat the Patriots, where political discussions are not allowed, and where vast, gigantic Threads connect the world with discussions about disgraced philosophers and hairless cats.

I can absolutely see an Off-World like that and the inevitable adventure module devoted to it.

Yes, I can see it...

Okay guys, let's get one thing straight right away. I am not Anti-Vegetarian. In fact, many of my best friends are Vegetarians or Vegans or Fruitarians or whatever. I totally hear the ethical arguments against eating meat. What difference is there really between a pig and a dog? And I also agree that it is a healthier way of eating.

However, those discussions inevitably end up in arguments and that's not what Paizo.com is all about. So effective immediately all discussions about or indirectly related to Veganism, Vegetarianism, Fruitism, and/ or whateverism are no longer hosted on Paizo.com. Discussions about eating healthy in general are okay, but once the thread starts venturing into a "meatless" diet the alarm bells will start ringing.

You may now proceed with your regularly scheduled thread posts...

Is it possible to copyright your homebrew world that same way you would copyright a book or another piece of writing like a song or speech? Would I need to completely exclude any sort of Pathfinder and/or D&D rules from it?

In case you are not aware of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), he is famous for writing about life-affirmations and making the statement “God is dead”. He was a German philosopher, and Nietzsche and his ideas covered a lot ground and as a result, people began to raise questions they normally would not. The main crux of Nietzsche’s work was the idea of life-affirmation, but he also presented ideas such as Will to power, perspectivism, master-slave morality, and the Apollonian/Dionysian dichotomy.

Nietzchean is famous for the quote that states, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." Another one of his quotes states, "Once upon a time, in some out of the way corner of that universe which is dispersed into numberless twinkling solar systems, there was a star upon which clever beasts invented knowing."

Its pretty clear that Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy is just too controversy for Paizo.com, and threads devoted to him cannot be allowed to continue. I suggest posting threads about more acceptable philosophers like Voltaire, Socrates, John Locke, and Adam Smith. Based on past evidence, Nietzscheans then to be a rebellious lot and unlikely to follow the rules of this website. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to post them here.

Of course the concept of free will is a lie, but just go with it...

Codex Alera is a fantasy book series by Jim Butcher. The series chronicles the coming-of-age of a young man named Tavi in the realm of Alera, an empire similar to Rome, on the world of Carna

The inspiration for the series came from a bet Jim Butcher was challenged to by a member of the Del Rey Online Writer's Workshop. The challenger bet that Butcher could not write a good story based on a lame idea, and he countered that he could do it using two lame ideas of the challenger's choosing. The "lame" ideas given were "Lost Roman Legion", and "Pokémon".

My challenge to you is to come up with two lame ideas, and I will do what Butcher did; create a fantasy world and story based on them. So with this don't try to come up with two cool ideas. That might be tough for some of you. Come up with two lame ideas, and then I will chose the lamest.

You may proceed...

This is something I have used twice before. Once to get a new job and the other time to promote an event. Now I want to use it for fantasy world creation. Today would be considered Day 1, tomorrow Day 2, and so on until the goal is achieved. It has worked in the past because it holds you accountable. Everyday you need to post something about what you are doing to achieve your goal. You might miss a day or two, because s**t happens, but you make up for it.

By the way, why post it on here? For advice obviously, and maybe some really rude responses. In the past it has been better to post something online rather than leave it on a Word Document. If something is hidden away it tends to disappear.

This is Day 1, and the only thing I have is a hook; this is my Last World. That's the tone I am looking for here. It is what is inside my head. I thought it would be like "Final Fantasy", but the Last World is pretty definite. What does that tell me? I really am looking for finality here. Also, if there is a game system, it will fit into this world. I will not fit this world around D&D. I have a really altered version of D&D or something completely different.

Anyway, this is a start, which is better than nothing.

This is a beginning...

I was looking over some fantasy world hooks lately, and I thought to myself, "Wow these are really bad!" So the thought came to me to think of the worst possible idea for a fantasy world. For example:

It is a fantasy world where Smurf-like creatures control all magic and miracles in a post-apocalyptic landscape where gravity is faulty and the continents are floating on seas made of dragon gas.

That is a bad idea, but fun to think of. Okay you're turn! :)

I am trying to design a campaign with the premise that it is a fantasy type world that an all-powerful Creator keeps making and then destroying and then remaking again. This eternal cycle of creation and then destruction keeps happening. What kind of Races, Classes, Characters, spells, would be appropriate for this type of world? Any sort of advice would be welcomed.

Okay I have a lot of time on my hands, so I might as well create an all new, all different fantasy type world. I was influenced by watching reruns of 70's and 80's movies like Star Wars (the original 3 plus the Force Awakens), Krull, Flash Gordon, Legend, and Labyrinth. Also I really liked the cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I want to create a world that is a mixture of fantasy and sci-fi.

I am seeing an almost apocalyptic world, meaning there are vast areas of ruins and desolate regions, but there are also established governments. Most people don't have access to technology, so they have to use standard Medieval style weapons, armor and other items as needed. However, advanced technology like laser guns, rocket ships and holographic computers with artificial intelligence do exist.

I want to use the standard races and classes, but rename and reclassify them. The rules will stay the same, but I may alter them. There won't be the stereotypical gods for clerics and spells for wizards. I will rename the classes and races to suit this world. I will look at each Race and Class and make adjustments. As I said I have some extra time right now, but not for long.

All right lets begin...

After Penn of "Penn & Teller" lost 100 pounds eating just potatoes, I have decided to start the diet tomorrow. I have bought two bags of potatoes, and they were very inexpensive. I boiled them tonight, and tomorrow I will eat them. I will report my findings on here, and I will finally prove whether or not it really works. You are welcome.

Today I read the following message on the Paizo web site and I quote:
"The Paizo offices will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2016. We will return on Tuesday, October 11, 2016."

My question is why? That statement offers no explanation for the reason of the closure. We need to find out answers. We need to learn the truth! If anyone can shed some light on this conspiracy, please post below before it's too late...

Yes, Hillary won the first Presidential debate and made Trump look very unprepared (sniff), but the truth is that the only Vice-Presidential debate between Tim Kaine and Mike Pence will decide the outcome of the election. For that reason, and two others, that debate deserves it's own thread. I will go a step further and say that the Kaine/Pence debate will go down in history as one of the greatest debates of all time, and it will be studied by historians for centuries. You may proceed with the commentary...

If you dare, go through your place of residence and go find your books. Pick the sixth book, and then turn to the sixth page, and then read the sixth sentence on that page! What you read may disturb you, and if so you should share it here.

If you don't own at least six books then this doesn't apply to you.

In order to attract new comic sales, DC has announced that starting next month they will begin monthly reboots of their entire comic book universe. All future issues will start at #1. DC hopes that by starting over every month, they will avoid the need to have a major reboot event every 3-5 years. Marvel comics had no comment, because they wouldn't stop laughing.

The upcoming debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will not just decide the fate of America, but the fate of the rest of the world too. There is no question that Hillary should become President, but a lot of Americans are voting for Trump. I guarantee a majority of Trump's supporters will regret their vote within 1 year, but by then it will be too late. I don't want to look back and say "I told you so." I want to say it right now.

Please proceed...

Random World!

I tried this idea years ago, but then forgot about it. Basically, I create a random world with races, gods, places, people, artifacts, etc, using random tables. I will make use of random tables in random web sites, in the hopes that it will activate a part of my mind where creativity comes from. Literally, I am just making this up as I go along. I will posting it on here for two reasons. First, if I didn’t post it then I would end up throwing it away in several weeks or forgetting about it. Second, you guys will give me either cool advice or you will criticize it and point out my errors. Either way I win…lol.

Let’s start with a random god. First, we determine the gender.
1-male
2-female
3-other
Hey, I am a progressive world builder. The god could be transgender, or it could be a 2 or more gods that always act together. For example, the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I was raised Catholic. I will use random.org for the numbers, and I get a 1-male. So it’s a guy.

Next, I will determine alignment.
1-Lawful Good
2-Neutral Good
3-Chaotic Good
4-Lawful Neutral
5-True Neutral
6-Chaotic Neutral
7-Lawful Evil
8-Neutral Evil
9-Chaotic Neutral
10-Unaligned
I get a 7-Lawful Evil. A bad guy.

Next, I determine the power level with examples:

1-Vestige (a dead god of water)
2-Quasi-god (fishermen)
3-Demigod (lakes)
4-Lesser God (rivers)
5-Intermediate God (seas)
6-Greater God (oceans)
7-Elder God (all water on world)
8-Primal God (creator of water)

It’s a primal god.

Now, as far as a name and details, let’s look up four random words. They are:
Accomplice-he was an accomplice to an unspeakable act on his home plane of existence or the world. He aligned himself with other evil gods.
Aftershock-after it was over, he felt the aftershocks of destroying his world.
Butcher-he was the Butcher of the World.
Degeneration-he literally led this world into a state of degeneration, the world was dying and falling apart, he was the butcher of life itself.

The Butcher literally is the embodiment of Lawful Evil. He is a tyrant, and he wants to impose his evil will on the world. He implores his followers to take over parts of the world and then butcher it, kill it, and of course he encourages cannibalism. His followers are truly depraved and evil, but they are also much disciplined about it. His church has a very rigid hierarchy. His actual name is unknown.

According to CNN...Sixty-five million years ago, the dinosaurs disappeared in what's known as the Earth's fifth mass extinction. Today, a sixth mass extinction could be well underway and humans are the likely culprit, according to new research published in Science Advances.

The past five mass extinctions on Earth were caused by large-scale natural disasters like meteors or enormous chains of volcanic eruptions, wiping out between half and 96% of all living species.

But the modern mass extinction isn't being caused by a freak act of nature, the researchers say. It's being caused by man-made changes to the environment including deforestation, poaching, overfishing and global-warming, and it's proving to be just as deadly.

Recently, species like the Emperor Rat, the Desert Rat Kangaroo, the Yangtze River Dolphin, the Skunk Frog and the Chinese Paddlefish, amongst hundreds of others, are believed to have become extinct.

So, are we destroying ourselves or is this all a big, liberal lie from 97% of the Earth's scientists?

For this showdown I have chosen two movie Superman. In one corner is the Superman from the 1978 movie starring Christopher Reeve. In the other corner is the Superman from the 2013 movie starring Henry Cavill. Let's just say that the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, so they have to fight each other. The fight will take place in the Grand Canyon.

As they begin to fight, it is clear that Reeve's Superman is much more powerful. After all, in his movie he was able to literally reverse the Earth's rotation and turn back time by 24 hours! Every punch Reeve connects with sends Cavill all across the canyon, even though he is holding back.

Cavill does fight back, of course. He is immensely powerful, and he is able to hurt Reeve. However, all it takes is one blast of heat vision and Cavill is send down to the canyon floor. Yes, he does bleed.

A bruised and bloody Cavill is simply no match for Reeve, and he is about to strike the killing blow, but he can't do it. He starts to talk to Cavill, and tells him that maybe together they can save the Earth. They don't have to fight each other. Cavill agrees, and Reeve helps him stand up, but that is when he is surprised.

Cavill blasts Reeve with heat vision directly into his eyes. For a few seconds he is blinded, and that is when Cavill grabs his neck from behind and snaps his neck. Just like he did to General Zod. Cavill's Superman won the fight, and the Earth is saved.

I have the belief that nothing we see around us is real, and everything we see is just an elaborate illusion. Prove that you are real.

I am just asking in general, because it feels like the fabric of reality that holds everything together is falling apart...

The gap between rich and poor is growing in America. It makes me wonder if we could live in a world without money . How would a society like that function?

I believe the recent extreme weather conditions in the Northwest are being caused by manmade global warming. Agree or disagree?

This is something I always wanted to try on this thread. Imagine a world shortly after it's created. Think of Earth right after the seven days of creation. Of course, this world has no name. It orbits a Sun, has one Moon (so far), it has an Earthlike night/day, and at night you can see stars in the sky. Everything else is open to the imagination.

YOU are gods, goddesses, angels, demons, or any type of very powerful being. In fact, use your avatar picture and name. Where you came from is up to you. On the thread create or destroy something, depending on your alignment or point of view. Create a race, nation, tribe, whatever. Please stay in character based on your avatar. Let everyone know about where it is on this world. For example, is it in the far north, south, central region, underground, on the Moon(s), whatever you want.

I know someone is going to try to destroy something another creator created, and that is ok. I expect a war among two avatars, and that is also OK. If it goes too far, I have the right to nix it, because I am the OP. In the past, similar threads have either died out or led to the absolute destruction of whatever was trying to be created...and that is OK too. Let's just see where it goes...

He is coming back!

Yes, long ago he was lost, but soon he shall return. He will not be the same, because everything that dies changes. Like Gandalf before him, he will come back from death different. He has seen the Light, and it destroyed him.

However, he came back from death and embraced the Light, and now he is one with the Light. His new quest is to bring the Light to the Lost, and put them back on the true path.

Yes, he is returning...

Yes, lets talk about it here. I was not there when Mark Brown was shot to death by Wilson. However, based on the evidence I have seen from numerous news reports, I would have to agree that the killing was justified. If Wilson was indicted and this case went to trial, he would have been found not guilty. The prosecutor knew it, so he had a grand jury convened so it would appear that he was not being racist or bias. It didn't work.

I think its idiotic, criminal, dangerous, and unwarranted that the protesters looted, burned, and destroyed large parts of their own community. These same protesters were probably the ones who complained that the police were too aggressive in stopping them back in August. Then they complained that the police didn't do enough to stop looters from looting, rioting, and burning this place down.

I do not want to generalize. I do not want to say that all the protesters are bad. I don't want to say that all young, African American men are thugs, or that all cops are racists, because both are not not true. However, I do want to say that the looting will stop nothing, and only make things worse. OK, let the debate begin...

This is a fun game that I have seen before, so I want to try it myself. This is Round One. I will write out 10 Hooks. I will leave the voting up to you guys for one week. One vote per hook. Whichever hook with the most votes wins and then I will create Round Two with another vote on different aspects of the world. No cheating, not even from me. It could create something interesting or not, lets see where it goes:

1. It is a fantastic world created from a dream by an unknown god, where dreams, fantasies, and nightmares come true.

2. It is an apocalyptic world in the distant future of a broken planet, where magic has replaced technology and the races struggle to survive in a chaotic environment.

3. It is a desert world under the bright light of two suns, where the hostile environment has breed harsh magic, gods, creatures, and treasures.

4. It is a chaotic world governed by mad gods, wild magic, fierce creatures, and lost treasures.

5. It is an elemental world where fire, water, earth, wind, and void take shape and the races are caught in the middle of their ancient struggle.

6. It is a lost world where magic and miracles have run wild and the gods have long abandoned their people, who are seeking a Savior to save them.

7. It is a fantasy, medieval style world with magical creatures, races, gods, miracles, and mysterious dungeons.

8. It is a world in a constant war, since the dawn of time, and factions fight each other to the death until the Apocalypse.

9. It is a world where everyone can cast a spell, except for those called the "Spelless", but there is a dark power that is eating magic.

10. It is a savage world where characters use magic and ancient technology to find lost kingdoms, treasures, artifacts, and knowledge.

Ever since Samuel L. Jackson was cast as Nick Fury and really ever since Marvel comics made Nick Fury Black in their Ultimate comic book world, I have wondered which one would win in a fight. it's clear to me that the Black Nick Fury is here to stay. there should be a complete Marvel comics reboot. it's like picking Samuel L. Jackson or David Hasselhoff. Sam wins ever time.

The start is that an angel, Farael, has been thrown out of the Heavens, and he fell to an unknown world. He woke up in an unfamilar place with few memories of his prior life. Also, he has blue skin covered with intricate runes, and glowing, yellow eyes. What happenes next?

I liked the interview Jim Butcher did a while back where he described an argument with a friend that a good author could take any ideas no matter how overdone or unrelated they may be and make them into a credible book. To prove his point he asked for two random ideas that don't work together at all. His friend came up with "Lost Roman legion" and "Pokémon" and that's where this series "Furies of Calderon" began.

For this thread come up with two random ideas that don't seem to go together, and I will try to come up with a story from them. I recall seeing a thread like this before.

Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain at a constant velocity unless acted upon by an external force. This is also called the law of inertia and can be derived from Newton's second law of motion.

Newton's second law of motion states that if a net force acts on an object, it will cause the object to accelerate.

Who would win in a fight between Darkseid v. Thanos and why? Please justify your answers. Based on looking at both characters abilities and past, I would have to go with Thanos on this one. I have my reasons, but I also want to see what others think.

Also, this is Thanos without the Infinity Gauntlet. That would be unfair.
