Join the quest for suicide awareness and prevention at Rolling in the New Year!

Tuesday, December 28, 2021

Jasper’s Game Day is a non-profit organization that raises money for suicide prevention and awareness. They do this through RPGs such as Pathfinder and Starfinder. JGD strives to reduce the stigma around talking about mental health so the world can start to treat it just like physical health. But they are so much more than that: they are building a community of individuals that are unique and have a love for all things RPG. They combine the fun of Pathfinder and Starfinder with the quest toward suicide awareness and prevention, and it will an epic experience.

A worthy cause. Be sure to take care of your mental health along with your physical health, folks. Be well and look out for each other.

Does Paizo or any of the executives have anything to say about Diego's posts on twitter about how he was denied a promotion because he didn't "need" it or he was "emotionally unstable" based on posts from many years past on a private vent account where he discussed his past struggles with mental health?

Don't get me wrong I support this, but this feels a little hollow coming from those same people

Paizo does not comment on private personnel matters. This is in line with standard professional practice.

Paizo has mental health care options that are available to employees as part of the full paid medical, dental, and vision plan for employees and immediate family. My unmarried domestic partner of 25 years gets healthcare via Paizo. I see this as authentic care fo the health of the staff and our families.

I'm the one who drives the Jasper's and Paizo relationship because it is largely about promotions and gathering the Community Content Creators, who I am most close to. A year or so ago I approached the Exec Team and they gave me the green light. (We had an event last May.) It is a good organization and many staff members feel motivated by the cause. Same with Extra Life. I am supported by the VP of Marketing and Licensing and the Director of Community. I am grateful Paizo leadership has given me permission to support meaningful causes on company time. This is is in line with standard professional practice.

Paizo does a lot of charitable giving and work, including product donations requests email (which are often not seen), Humble Bundle, and organized play events. Some of those decisions are made at the highest levels, some are initiated from the middle, and some from the player-base. It is all authentic, from my perspective.

Name correction: should read "Aubrey" from Goblets and Gays, not Ashley. Apologies.
