Pathfinder Battles: Remembering the Fallen

Contrary to popular belief, Mark is indeed a person, and does indeed have other duties in the company than just writing blog posts. My point is mostly that if a release of the mini's lines does less than expected sales, it's not going to ruin the company as a whole. If the rulebook relaunch does less than expected, that's it, no more books, and no more minis.

I guess Mark having other duties ties into that "He's likely busy with other things" that I wrote. We've also had "My bet is that we will not be seeing any previews until after GenCon" and "Everything is being pushed around by PF2's launch" from others, so I think Popular Opinion around here is in tune with reality. I expect Mark will come through with the previews after GenCon, and we are stressing their importance to us as buyers of the product.

My point is that the next case will be coming out soon. Even if PF2 turns into a complete debacle, the next set of minis is still going to be released since they have been produced. We will still be paying for it. Say hypothetically they cancel the next Battles set because of issues with PF2 (worst case scenario), we won't be charged for it. Not a huge issue there, not being charged for a non-product.

In my mind, this ties into a bigger issue with Paizo's schedule of blogs and other information-disseminating methods. Sometimes it's via twitter, sometimes by press release, sometimes as a throwaway line on a twitch stream...All in all, I think it's fair to say they've been going through a rough patch in this regard lately (the various episodes of IT glitchiness haven't helped, I'm sure).

Personally, I'm of a mind to put it down to a perfect storm - lots of new projects (both rolling out new IT infrastructure and new editions of both the card game and the RPG) plus a very significant turnover in staff - especially those responsible for the webstore and social media. All of it happening under the looming threat of that juggernaut-of-deadlines: GenCon.

I suspect things are going to smooth out in coming months. This set is going to be previewed later than we're used to (some people overseas like to have what may seem unduly long lead-in times to those in the US who can place an order with short notice - if we want to avoid exorbitant duties and get it from a local retailer, we sometimes need to order things a good three or four months ahead of streetdate). No doubt the webpages for all the new products will go up "in the nick of time" and the blogs/twitch streams/other methods of communicating will settle into a new rhythm.

I'm hoping that once GenCon finishes and all the new staffmembers come to grips with the entirety of their roles, we'll get back into a more regular and predictable flow of product information.

I'd be pretty confident in predicting that, no matter how irritating an individual customer finds issues like this, it is far more annoying to Paizo (and more impactful).

I concur, but it’s a selfmade problem: Changing the website design at the same time as announcing (and playtesting) a new edition?

The website worked, it was easy to find stuff (even stuff I didn’t know I wanted to have) and most of all it didn’t look like WotC ten years earlier.

The design change put me in a negative mood towards 2E and then the „nope“s just piled up.

This means 100% creature minis (44 different ones) of which we already know 15:
-the four previewed back in february (Dragon Turtle, Chimera, Fire Giant & Dwarf Wizard)
-the eight from the preview pack (male & female orc, 2 goblins, elf, halfling, bugbear & new hobgoblin design)
-the three from the booster box art (Boar Demon/Nalfeshnee, Shadow, Dwarf Rogue).

Hmm. I guess I should buy one of the next set just to send the right dollars message.

"Iconic Heroes Evolved" has officially been scheduled for September 18th by Wizkids.

"Legendary Adventures" has been moved to october by Wizkids and will now very probably have an official street date of october 16th - same as Paizo's october products.
That is likely not a coincidence imo.

That means Mark has 8 Werks instead of 4 to show all renders.

We'll likely see some pictures of actual minis from Gencon and i expect an unboxing video three weeks before street date.
