The most disappointing case incentive yet

*( )( )( )( )

This has got to be the most disappointing case incentive yet. I was expecting the throne itself to at least have a 2" base, but it's smaller than many of the Medium minis in this very set. How lame. I even delayed the ending of my Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign for a month just so I would have this for when the PCs enter the throne room. There's nothing in the description of the throne room in the AP that indicates there is a banquet table and chairs, or even any pillars. The throne is supposed to be this impressive thing. And we get this. And for some reason, there was apparently fear that the pillars will topple over easily, so they included these 3"x3" pieces of clear plastic and some really cheap adhesive velcro to attach the pillars to the plastic so they won't tip over. Very lame. If there was a way to get my money back on this, I would jump at it.

I would rate it 6 stars if i could!

*****

GOOD:
You get 21 miniature pieces (plus six clear 3x3 rectangular plastic bases with six double velcro pads to put the six pillars on) for your money:

01: Emperor´s Throne
02: Crimson Throne
03: Queen Illeosa (sitting)
04: Emperor (sitting)
05: Guillotine (3 squares high)
06: Banquet table (3 squares long)
07: High-backed armchair 1
08: High-backed armchair 2
09: #45 Gnome Executioner (small mini on medium base)
10: #46 Dr. Davaulus (medium)
11: #47 Glorio Arkona (medium)
12: tiny golden bowl (can be placed unter 05 for the chopped off heads)
13: tiny silver plate with turkey
14: plate with food 1
15: plate with food 2
16-21: six pillars with torches (medium base, 4 squares high)

Everything is really sturdy and can be taken out of the blister and put back in, i did it multiple times.
The pillars all stand firmly and don´t tip over easily, but you can glue one side of a double-velcro sticker (six included) under it´s base and the other side on one of the six included 3x3 clear plastic bases for additional support.

Both the sitting Emperor and Queen minis fit on the thrones, armchairs, on the edge of the table and under the guillotine - they are also compatible with all other so far produced "Dungeon Dressings" like the bar stools or carts from "The Rusty Dragon Inn" or even Mage Knight products.
The sculpts and painting details (down to the faces) are really detailed. The book that the Dr. is holding has a tiny picture on one page and script on the other.

BAD:
The only (very minor) fault i could find, is that the "Gnome Executioner" mini is on a medium base instead of a small one.

UGLY:
Nothing.

If you want to create a "throne room" scenario or need six high pillars (20 feet in-game) for a dungeon room, or a "Final Blade" guillotine complete with evil looking executioner for that Galt campaign, this is for you.
It won´t see as much table time as the "Rusty Dragon Inn", but if you have the money ($12,50 for subscribers/$50 for others), it is a very beautiful incentive.

$50?

Is that the right price?

The scenery packs were between $30 and $40 before, the ONLY case incentive (no matter if from D&D or Pathfinder Battles) that was $50 was the Gargantuan Red Dragon.

For that price, i would expect a real throne room (with floor and one wall) OR lots and lots of pieces (certainly more than in the Adventurers Camp...

Also the descriptive text says "more than a dozen figures" but also states the banquet table as one, which is a miniature but not a figure imo. ;-)

Rusty Dragon inn set was $50 last i saw. So makes sense for the playset. Just wondering when i can preorder this.

You can only get the incentive for each set from Paizo if you also get a case (subscription being the best option).

Paizo don't generally release the incentive pieces individually for quite some time after the set releases (it used to be not until the next set, but I believe they've relaxed that a little). If you want the throne without the full case in the short term, you'll need to find a different retailer.

I got it for $39.99 the first time it was offered.

I think only the second printing was offered for §49.99.

I'll be perfectly honest. After $400 or whatever for a case and incentive? Speaking for myself, an extra ten dollars won't stop me. ^_^

Yeah, me neither, and i guess the quality of the PFB pieces will be higher than the D&D ones (like the Rusty Dragon Inn pieces are very sturdy in comparison to the wagon piece from Adventurers Camp, but that is hard to compare, as that wagon is much larger than any PFB dressing piece produced so far and the smaller parts are the same quality).

Are we going to receive any new information on this incentive addon? Isn't Crown of Fangs due to release in couple of weeks (according to my CoF's subscription information [early Apr 2017])?

Removed a post. Phrasing information about our products/licensed products as if you are an authority can be misleading to our customers, and makes the job of our employees to present/clarify information about those products more difficult.

Well, i know a lot about wizkids miniatures - more than a lot of people, but if my word isn't good enough, you can always watch on the OFFICIAL WIZKIDS RELEASE SCHEDULE page:

http://win.wizkids.com/solicitsMonthly.php

The official release date is scheduled to be in may.

And i only wrote my own opinion about showing the incentive (if i remember correctly) and did not say Paizo does something wrong.

I don't know why it was necessary to remove my post. :-(

Dark Archive

The official release date has been revealed today by Wizkids:

Wednesday 17th of may 2017!

That´s 6 weeks from now.

The product description states "Note: This product is part of the Pathfinder Battles Case Subscription." so I'd say you're right :)

I'm pretty certain this is the case incentive for Crown of Fangs, although the description does not mention that as of yet.

The other possible issue is if, when setting up the subscription, a user chose NOT to include the Case Incentives. It has been a while since I set mine up, but as I recall, there was an option not to include the Case Incentives. The quantities were separate for Cases and Incentives, so one could choose 1 Case and 0 Case Incentives, for example.

Dark Archive

A subscriber pays only 25% of the case incentive price, which would only be $12.50.

I am a subscriber...but it is not showing up as pending, although the case is.

Great idea! I'm actually very impressed with the idea of this product. A limited set of pre-painted plastic miniatures of NPCs used within a specific Adventure Path is a great idea.

Hopefully, we'll see more sets like this for the rest of the Adventure Paths!

Interestingly, that used to be the core model of the Pathfinder Battles line. They've since moved away from such a tight focus.

This set, while heavily themed around Curse of the Crimson Throne, features miniatures inspired by other parts of Pathfinder as well. ^_^

Erik posted somewhere that Wizkids found the AP themed sets sold worse than the more 'generic' sets. That's part of the reason this one is a little broader than purely CotCT figures - kind of a search for the 'best of both worlds' I think.

Is this going to be available to order in time to ship with CoF cases (help save on shipping)?

Is this considered a "case incentive" for CoF subscribers or available to the general public?

Pathfinder Companion, Modules, Roleplaying Game Subscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

I am pretty sure that this is the case incentive for a Crown of Fangs case via subscription. If the past is any indicator of the future, then there will be a brief time when we can grab this item around the time that the miniatures set after Crown of Fangs comes out.

This is advertised as a case incentive on WizKid's site, so I imagine it will have similar restrictions here as well (must purchase a case to order one). That said, there is usually a disclaimer about that on the product description.

Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber; Pathfinder Card Game Subscriber

There are other sites and local stores that may sell seperately. You need to look around.

I have it, and it´s worth every penny!

It may not be used as often as the "Rusty Dragon Inn Tavern", but it sure as hell looks even cooler!

Only problem with case subscription, well two problems, delays in getting the product (still waiting on mine) and Paizo's shipping cost are high compared to other options (I.e. Free shipping on items of x value).

Sweet! Thanks Chris that is awesome. :)

I'm confused, what's this velcro and clear plastic even for?

You can put one half of a velcro sticker under each pillar and the other half in the center of one of the clear plastic plates.

That way the pillars won´t fall over even if you tip against them. ;-)

Ahh, that's pretty clever. They're so tall it makes sense they'd be easy to tip.

They don´t tip very easily imo. But with the velcro stickers they don´t tip at all. ;-)

Just unpacked this, great stuff, one chair slightly damaged but invisible after careful repair.

One puzzle though:
- The cooked animal has both wings and drumsticks.
- There is one drumstick on each plate.

... Are they eating a tiny dragon?
