Norm moves up to the edge and looks down.

As I understand it, it is climbing on the inside of the well, right? So not flying? if it's climbing, I'll do this:

Norm waits until the bat is within 35 feet and then cast a spell

"چَڪَ"

Norm casts grease (DC 15 refex) on the inside of the well, where the bat is. If possible, he'll coat a ring inside the well, so no matter where it tries to grab on, it'll have to save.

Norm then picks up one of the stones that used to be the well and push it over the edge to fall on the bat.

"Here, help me with these rocks! Let's thrown them down at it!"

The description said that the well was partial collapsed and was in the corner of the ruins, so I assume there are a lot of big stones/bricks laying around. It's those I'll throw at the bat

Cliff will continue with his readied attack, since he can't help with the stones.


Foxglove Manor

Norm waits for the right time before casting a spell to make the walls on the well slippery.

Bat Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Fall Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

The bat loses its grip on the walls and is unable to catch itself while it falls down. You hear a splash as it hits the water on the bottom of the well.

Norm's stone also produces a splash sound, and it seems like the bat isn't trying to climb up again.

Peering down the well, Norm says

"You think that killed it...uhm...again? Or did it just hide? Can anyone see down there? I'm not very keen an going down there again, if it's still alive"

"Let me know if you see anything moving down there." Ansgar says stepping back from the well. "I'll go down the well next, but I'd rather not drown if I fall. Quiary, help me with my armour."

Ansgar begins to remove his armour."Once I create a safe zone, you can come down armoured and I can don it again down there. We will need to find something to secure the rope with, and I am not sure Cliff can make it down."

Norm puts his backpack down and pulls out a couple of iron spikes, a hammer and a grappling hook

"I got these. If you can climb down the rope yourself, they should be sufficient to hold it. And don't worry about Cliff, he can watch our backs from up here."

Assuming there are no more bat motions.

Ansgar finishes taking off his armour and grabs his sword. "Lets knot the rope and I can climb down it then, we should have enough."

Assuming everyone is okay with it, Ansgar knots the rope a bunch and tosses it down the well after it is secured. Then begins climbing down to the pathway.


Foxglove Manor

As Caeldren moves lights down the tunnel you can see the undead bat exiting the water and heading back to the tunnel where Norm first found it.

Norm walks over to Ansgar, standing right next to him, still invisibel

"Sure you want to go down there? I can make you invisible too, if you would like the element of surprise. Or bigger, if that'll help. Could make it a little hard to move around down there, though"

"I don't think bigger will help, but seeing the creature again I think my shield will serve me better than my blade." Ansgar sheathes his sword and places it beside his pile of armor, grabbing his shield. "I'll descend and try getting to the landing over killing the thing. Once I am on solid ground hopefully you will be able to hit it while I distract it."

Ansgar will descend the knotted rope, shield in hand, until he is about 20 feet above the path or the bat gets 20 feet from him by climbing the wall.

AC is 15/12/13

Climb: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 2 = 14

Hopefully the knotted rope with a wall to brace against keeps the DC very low. I'm basically rolling a straight D20 to not fall and drown lol

Zelinda makes her way to the edge of the well. "Are you sure that I shouldn't being going down?" she asks, a little hesitantly. "I mean, you know. I weigh less than you do." She looks a little sheepish at this. "Lighter equipment and all."

"My armour is off already, and my weight will be an asset." Ansgar says as he swings his legs over the side of the well and begins climbing down. Just as his head disappears, "Besides, my extra weight means I can drag it down the well better if nothing else works."

With the aid of a rope, Ansgar climbs down the well without any issues, as he is about 100 feet down he sees the opening into the cave and the undead bat over a pile of carcasses, the creature turns to face him.

Seeing the creature look up at him, Ansgar shimmies down a couple feet further and then jumps to the ledge.

Assuming I was 20 feet up, I climbed down 5 more feet and jumped to the ledge.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 2 = 10

As he plummets, Ansgar tries to keep his shield between him and the creature and his feet under him.

Almost before Norm can finish his sentence, Zelinda sheaths her sword, grabs hold of the rope and launches herself over the edge of the well and down the rope as fast as she can.

As Ansgar jumps into the cave, Zelinda grabs the rope and begins her descend, she makes swift progress, already climbing down one-third of the way.

The bat readies itself to pounce on Ansgar.

When Quiary doesn’t respond, Norm turns around

Norm pats him on the cheek, first soft then a little harder

If that snaps him out of it, I’ll let him climb down, if not I’ll go myself

”Okay, Quiary, you just wait here, we’ll be back for you in just a little while. Cliff, look after Quiary and our stuff. Don’t let anyone but us touch it!”

Norm scratches Cliff behind the ear before starting his decent.

@Ansgar: The bat was too close for a charge

Ansgar bashes the bat with shield, catching the creature by surprise, the shield hits the bat on the head, but the creature stays on its feet, trying to bite back at the cleric.

Bite vs Ansgar: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Damage: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (7, 5) + 7 = 19
Ansgar takes 19 damage and must make a DC 16 Fortitude check or be paralyzed

Zelinda and Cael make good progress down the well, but Normornigan stalls, the best the halfling can do is not fall over his friends.

Zelinda finally finishes her climb down, arriving in time to see the creature going for another bite on Ansgar.

Zelinda lands a well-placed blow, cutting the creature's head in a way that would certainly kill it if it weren't dead already. While Norm tries to entangle it.

The creature deftly avoids the entangling plants that grow from the cavern, then opens its jaw and does a loud, disorienting screech while it starts to stand up.

You all must make a DC 16 Fortitude Save or be stunned.
