Look Into the Unknown

While our compliment of awesome Gen Con-bound comrades are steering the Paizo booth, running games, and working various panels, the Paizo skeleton-crew is continuing to assist customers, get packages out the door, and bringing you new content on paizo.com.

But, before everyone hopped on a plane, Adam Daigle sent over a few Pathfinder Adventure Path previews that I get to share with you all! In just a short time, the Strange Aeons Adventure Path will release. Until we get into the finer details that will be featured later this month on the blog, here's a sampling of art that is featured in the first volumes:

If you've been tracking #paizoatgencon, or following us on social media, you might have caught that we unveiled some pretty awesome images of the upcoming Curse of the Crimson Throne hardcover (and the limited edition version—details to come after Gen Con). Check 'em out!

Adam also just announced the Adventure Path following the Ironfang Invasion in this afternoon's Adventure Path panel. Look out for the Ruins of Azlant Adventure Path starting next summer! In Ruins of Azlant, PCs join an expedition to the shattered remains of old Azlant, explore its mysteries and dangers, and face a veiled master who wants to get its tentacles on an Azlanti doomsday device. Titles include (but are subject to change before release):

Spoilers!
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path #121: The Lost Outpost by Jim Groves
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path #122: Into the Shattered Continent by Robert Brookes
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path #123: The Flooded Cathedral by Mikko Kallio
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path #124: City in the Deep by Amber E. Scott
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path #125: Tower of the Drowned Dead by Ron Lundeen
  • Pathfinder Adventure Path #126: Beyond the Veiled Past by Thurston Hillman

More information about Strange Aeons, the Curse of the Crimson Throne hardcover, and Ruins of Azlant to come as we get closer to their release dates!

So what did get announced at GenCon? Anything other than Azlant AP? Any new Player Companions, Campaign Settings, maps?

Hm, an Azlant AP. Well, we'll see what kind of story it will tell. Its base premise perks my interest, unlike the Hobgoblin AP, but it could also well turn into Serpent's Skull 2.

Blast it Valeros! Why did you have to poke Cthulhu "just to make sure he's dead?" The ancient texts clearly state he's *both* dead and sleeping!

I am just so happy the Leng ghoul is named Wilkins. And I don't know why.

(Please let Wilkins the Leng ghoul be a butler with a jaunty hat and cane.)

Much appreciated! :) Now I'll just have to Finnish writing the adventure. :D

That was physically painful. Teach me, o Master.

My only disappointment here is that I didn't see Brandon Hodge on the list of authors for Ruins of Azlant, and he has been involved in so much of the Azlanti stuff thus far . . .

This, of course, does nothing to diminish my excitement for this AP! Honestly, I don't think I've been as ready for an AP to hit the stores than I have for this one. I love it when Paizo explores their history because they do it incredibly well.

And, for the record, Serpent's Skull was the first AP I ever ran/finished in Golarion, and my players absolutely loved it. Granted, it required more prep time from me than any other I've done since, but it was worth it. I expect Ruins of Azlant to be better because they've had plenty of time to grow from that one.

I'm geeked people, and I'm not frightened to share that fact! Thank you, Paizo, for doing this one!

Brandon is one of my best friends and we've been playing RPGs together since we were teenagers, so I totally asked him first when I was planning out this AP. Sadly, he didn't have time to be able to pull it off, but he really wanted to be a part of it. That said, I have a really great crew writing this Adventure Path and I couldn't be happier.

He probably doesn't think he can improve on Rasputin Must Die!, anyway, since it is already the best single module published by Paizo, ever. :p I mean, where do you go when you've reached perfection?

It's more him focusing on his real life jobs/businesses and being a badass father, but that's a fair assessment too. ;)

So, I was kicking around Book of the Damned, Volume 2, and I saw a lot of Demon Lords with Azlanti roots... any chance of running into some of their cult sites?

A lot of EVERYTHING in the Inner Sea has Azlanti roots; demon lords are not unusual in that regard, and as such there's not really anything that guarantees demon lord activity in an Azlant themed AP.

Have You seen The House on Hook Street, that's also a damn fine adventure. :-)

Cant wait to see Ruins of Azlant

The Exchange

Ruins of Azlant sounds exciting! It also looks like there will be some nautical elements. :)
