Arakan seems a little more at ease seeing at how easy these things seem to be picked off. He walks up to the space between Safier and Jareen, and begins with a snide comment, "Yeah, great, you'll fit right in. Both you and the old man here don't seem to have a clue when to not show off your spellcasting to the world. That'll get us all killed in the first large crowd." He whistles short and sharp through his teeth, and when the closest bug turns to look, he fires at its face.

I was going to have him say 'no offense Furio', but it's Arakan, he does mean to offend. I was then going to have him say "offense intended." but he just made the point that he avoids violence.

Jareen casts his spell and two more kruthiks fall. But yet more boil from the heaps of rotting offal and spill down towards the adventurers, mandibles gnashing as they leap or swim across the foul pools.

A load more kruthik hatchlings come out of the heaps and move down. They all move so as to avoid AoOs.

KH14 and KH16 attack Jareen.

Easily dodging the kruthiks hatchlings, Th'Kal continues to protect his clutchmate's back. Slowly circling to guard Furio's flank.
Unfortunately, 'Kal's attempts to contain his rage and resist charging into the enemy must really weigh on his barbarian mind as his latest swing goes terribly off-target.

Arakan resorts to his favorite tactic, and throws power into his voice, turning to chase away the filthy bugs trying to come up around him and Jareen. Seeing as it's no longer a big secret, he drops his ruse, and doesn't hide his true power.

Figure it's a toss up between using Magic Missile for the sure kill on one target or using his at-will AoE spell - he's got a nice shot at two targets if he uses his area spell, so...

Based on past experience, Jareen most likely doesn't bother to hide his casting... lol :)

Standard Action: cast Winged Horde on square T9. Area burst 1 within 10. Target: Each enemy in the burst. Attack: +8 vs. Will. Hit: 1d6 psychic damage, and the target cannot take opportunity actions until the end of your next turn.

You lose the temporary hp first. That's quite important as they don't stack, so you can't get any more until you lose the ones you have. So you are actually at 33hp with no temporary hp.

Hmm, hit 6 and Th'Kal, or hit 3, 6 and Th'Kal or 3. Hmm.

Safier ponders unleashing a powerful wind into the melee in front of her, destroying everything. She decides it's best to keep these allies for now. Two monsters against one, things don't appear that they would go well for her. Summonging motes of starlight to descend upon some of the creatures, she hopes to end them quickly.

Th'Kal is hit twice by the little kruthics.
I was at 35hp with 2 temp...
Now I'm at: 29/41 and 9 temp (thanks to Gart!) -- I'm alright, save the healing for later. Particularly with the big-mommas coming in to the fight.
