New Taldor Recruit

8 years old and he's already a loyal Taldan power-attacking and cleaving his way to glory.

So, anybody notice Paizo's latest marketing strategy, using adorable little children to weaken customers' resistance? It seems kind of overkill to me, as if we had any resistance left. Or is this the next generation of gamers? Discuss.

The Taldan barbarian could not wait to get Great Cleave. :)

Lilith, you know the kid?

Yessum. He was a player at PFS. ;)

Heh-heh.

A Taldan barbarian must have some kind of back-story.

Oh mistress of cookies; You were in a position, it seems, to have gained detailed knowledge of this: Was this a gaming family you witnessed at GenCon, participating in PFS? (One or more parent and child(ren)?)

While I was not able to go to GenCon (finances forbade) I have been carrying my copy of the PFRPG back and forth to work for the past two days ... baby cannot be out of my sight!

I was hoping to be able to read the book while the kids I work with were busy with their own games and DSs -- WRONG! I was surrounded for many many hours during my eight hour shift, being asked a gazillion questions by the boys and girls. Finally I let them all cluster around me, and we flipped through the entire book, looking at every page and answering everything I could about every single picture in the book LOL! By the time I got home, I could barely talk at all :)

If those kids, ranging from Second to Sixth graders, could have bought the book, I would have sold another dozen or so books on the spot. As it is, one of the fourth graders looked it up online that night, and is going to be talking to his folks about where he wants to spend his allowance, and the sixth graders are talking about getting together to start playing a soon as one of them can get the book or the PDF. This was their second best choice, since I was not going to invite them all to my home to play!

Lots of kids in San Diego will be talking about Pathfinder, I can tell you :)

Wait a minute, Katie's no marketing strategy, she's my kid! And yes, that is her own copy of the rules. :)

They're a gaming family. He's the GM of our CoCT campaign and she's a companion in the group. They're excellent role-players. As for the young Taldan, well, let's just say you're definitely better off when you're in his party. It's a privilege to game with them.

Awesome! Thanks for posting, Minjast and I.M. I remember when my daughter was in diapers and she would run in the room, giggling, and trying to grab as many dice as possible.

Heh. Cool. My niece and my nephew are at the age where they quite regularly try to trade me out of all my "cool" dice (the cat just nabs them indiscriminately). My nephew plays a ranger because he likes to go camping in the woods and my niece chose a druid because she could have pets. ;)

My daughter Jenny (15) and I had the pleasure of playing with dad & Katie through the delve at the Paizo booth. Katie's Seoni was a force to be reckoned with, and if dad had been just a little quicker with his roll to channel energy in the last seconds of the game, we might have cleared three rooms (He still kicked more butt than my Valeros, ha!) It was a great pleasure to play father & daughter PF with these two. I look forward to our daughters randomly running into each other in a con some years in the future...

Reckless,

We both had a great time running through the delve with the two of you as well. Jenny's Merisiel dished out quite a bit of damage with thrown dagger crits, too. And in my defense, I think Kyra's -1 Init was rubbing off on me. :)

My nephews were over here tonight. They were pretty excited to see pictures of kids their age on the site and informed me that Pathfinder was now cooler than D&D.

Even dead, I would have noticed her. And I've been so good, not posting any of the many things that came to me...

Oh man, for a minute there I thought Paizo had hired on hottie short-shorts wearing Apples-to-Apples girls... but that would be the wrong cheeks and they were quite a bit taller than cherubs. I was about to get mad that I missed GenCon this year, lol.

LOL! I kinda like "Hot Gamer Chick" it covers all the bases.....and thanks ;)

But seriously, I wasn't a marketing ploy. I really am a Pathfinder Society player, and the Paizo guys made my Con by signing my Core Rule book copy!

And a fine 10+ hours it was. I still have Les Miz in my head though, after waking from my "nap" to the two of you belting it out at full volume. But seriously, welcome to the boards, Elena. It was a great GenCon and hopefully we can all continue the fun here. Please post lots of pictures of your costumes before next August.

Edit: Also, you should be able to change your user name from Anonymous User 259 as long as you do so before your 10th post. I propose changing it to GenCon Motorcycle Model.

Welcome, not-very-anonymous-anymore Elena.
