Everybody Sing, Oh Yeah, It's a Critical Hit!

Critical hits are among the most dramatic, and most popular, moments in a Starfinder game session. A player scoring a critical hit is generally rewarded with cheers from fellow players, while an NPC scoring one often leads to groans and (hopefully good-hearted) booing. A critical hit can change the course of a battle, force new tactics to be adopted, and may also set a foe on fire, leave them insensate for a round, or even chop off a limb. Critical hits are rare, but memorable.

Announcing the Starfinder Roleplaying Game!

Ever since Pathfinder Adventure Path #3, when James Jacobs and Wes Schneider had to hold me back from putting a space elevator in Varisia, I've wanted to take Pathfinder to the stars. A year later, I had the honor of writing up Golarion's solar system in Pathfinder Adventure Path #14, and then expanding it further in Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Distant Worlds. But I'm not the only one around here in love with outer space and science fiction—I think all of us have at various times said, "Wouldn't it be fun to do a futuristic version of Pathfinder?" Yet aside from the occasional jaunt to other worlds in adventures like Pathfinder Adventure Path #70: The Frozen Stars, it's always been a dream just out of reach.

Represent Your Cause!

At the beginning of the Year of the Sky Key (Season 6), most of the factions underwent significant changes as their philosophies evolved and those with national ties distanced themselves from their homelands. New faction symbols followed, and in anticipation of the upcoming Faction Journal Cards, the Pathfinder Society team commissioned new symbols for each of the seven current factions. It is my pleasure to share the new art with you today.

Improvements Are A-Comin'

Over the past several months, there have been some growing concerns with Pathfinder Society Organized Play. As we would like to take action to correct the concerns instead of let them grow and fester, we reached out to all 395 Venture-Officers a month ago to receive their feedback on what was wrong with the campaign, what was good about the campaign, and what we could do to improve or correct things to make Pathfinder Society even more awesome. Even though there were some difficult opinions expressed, most were true and it caused us to take a hard look at the organized play program.

Update: Open Call!

With the recent release of The Silverhex Chronicles, I've been really excited about Quests. The short, fun adventures are easy to use as demos at conventions and game days, and now that we have a solid way to give Pathfinder Society Organized Play characters credit for playing them, I think they're going to get a lot of traction in the community. Several writers from the last batch of Quests came from the Open Call, and since I'm already excited about Quests, the last several days have been a great opportunity to read through more submissions. I've gone through a large swath of the Open Call's inbox, reviewed those submissions, and nearly finished sending out responses—including feedback—to those authors. I'll be reading through more in the coming weeks.

Pathfinder Pawns: Bestiary 2 Box

Bestiary 2 Box Preview

There are a lot of great things about our Pathfinder Pawns sets, but one of my absolute favorite aspects of the line is that each new product allows us to go back and order pictures of monsters and NPCs that have never before appeared in illustrated form. In the case of our Bestiary products, this means we get new images of elementals, dragons, and other creatures that have various versions in the book, as well as reimaginings of outsiders and other creatures that either don't fit within the specific shape of a pawn or that we’d like to see depicted differently. Here are a few of the new pieces of art ordered specifically for the Bestiary 2 Box , which will be releasing soon!
