About Captain Fergus the FuriousCaptain Fergus the Furious is a medium (tiefling) champion hatred phantom of Preacherelius. Hero Forge minis of Captain Fergus the Furious:
Captain Fergus the Furious' Life and Cause of Death:
Fergus was a tiefling, who loved his mother (an Iblydosian woman, who a half-fiend forced its way on her to give her the seed that would become Fergus) and not knowing who his father was, grew up hating all fiends, until he met a tiefling who would eventually become his first mate (after discovering the tiefling was an escaped slave from Cheliax who was a crew member of a pirate ship that boarded slaver ships to free the slaves). Fergus was a tidal hunter ranger with evil outsiders as his primary favored enemy who was the pirate captain of the ship, Fiend's Demise. Fiend's Demise targeted slaver ships, and set the freed slaves ashore on Iblydos. Fergus preferred targeting Chelaxian slaver ships, as it increased the chance that he might get to send another fiend back to Hell or the Abyss. Fiend's Demise's first mate recruited other tieflings to join the crew, who had to pass the 'detect evil' test before Fergus offered them a spot on his crew instead of meeting their end on his rapier, Fiend-Ender. Cause of Death: Captain Fergus and his crew were in the wrong place at the wrong time the day the thalassic behemoth, Ousmariku, destroyed the city of Liachora. When Ousmariku emerged from the depths close to the city of Liachora, it came across Captain Fergus' ship, Fiend's Demise, and capsized the ship before continuing on to Liachora. Had Ousmariku been the only thing from the depths that crossed their paths that day, Captain Fergus and his crew might have continued living past that day. They were not that fortunate, for an aboleth emerged from the depths and dominated Captain Fergus and compelled him to kill his crew. After his crew was dead, the aboleth struck Fergus with one of its slime-inducing tentacles until Fergus was affected with the slime, then commanded Fergus to stop attacking it and to swim to Liachora and head to high ground, stay there and do nothing but watch the behemoth destroy the city. Fergus died watching Ousmariku destroy Liachora for hours, seething with hatred that he was forced to kill his loyal crew and could not get revenge on the thing that caused him to slay them, as his flesh-turned-slime epidermis dried out, followed by his dermis to slime, then his hypodermis. Champion Phantom: The phantom gains Weapon Focus (slam) as a bonus feat. At 12th level, it gains Greater Weapon Focus (slam) and Weapon Specialization (slam) as bonus feats. Hated Target (Su): The phantom can take a move action to designate one creature within its line of sight as a hated target. The phantom gains a +2 bonus on attack rolls against its hated target, and a bonus on damage rolls equal to 1/2 the phantom’s Hit Dice (minimum 1). The phantom is so focused on this hated target that it takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls against all other creatures. The phantom can maintain these bonuses against only one target at a time, and these bonuses remain in effect until either the hated opponent is dead or it has been out of the phantom’s line of sight for at least 1 minute. When the spiritualist reaches 7th level, the phantom can use this ability as a swift action, and takes no penalty when attacking creatures that are not designated as its hated enemy. The phantom must be manifested in ectoplasmic form to use this ability (unless the spiritualist is 17th level or higher; see Shared Hatred below). Feat Level Plan: 1 HD: Skill Focus (Intimidate) 3 HD: Blind-Fight; 5 HD: ?; 7 HD: ?; 9 HD: ?; 11 HD: ?; 13 HD: ?; 15 HD: ? (Captain Fergus the Furious) Champion phantom of Hatred abilities:
Champion: The phantom gains Weapon Focus (slam) as a bonus feat. At 12th level, it gains Greater Weapon Focus (slam) and Weapon Specialization (slam) as bonus feats. Hatred Phantom Skills: The phantom gains a number of ranks in Acrobatics and Perception equal to its number of Hit Dice. While confined in the spiritualist’s consciousness, the phantom grants the spiritualist Skill Focus in each of these skills. Good Saves: Fortitude and Reflex. Weapon Finesse: The phantom gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat. Hateful Aura (Su): When the spiritualist reaches 7th level, as a swift action, the phantom can emit a 10-foot-radius aura that inflicts pain upon the minds of those who dare damage it or its master. Enemies within the aura that deal damage to the spiritualist or the phantom take an amount of damage equal to the phantom’s Charisma bonus. This is a mind-affecting pain effect. The phantom can use this ability in either ectoplasmic or incorporeal form. Sneak Attack (Su): When the spiritualist reaches 12th level, the phantom gains sneak attack +3d6, but only against its hated enemy. At 18th level, the sneak attack damage increases to +5d6. Shared Shared Hatred (Su): When the spiritualist reaches 17th level, the phantom can grant its hatred to others. When the phantom designates a hated enemy, its allies also gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +4 bonus on damage rolls against that enemy. Furthermore, the phantom can use its hated target ability even when in incorporeal form; when it does, it can make slam attacks against a corporeal creature, but only if that corporeal creature is its hated target. Captain Fergus the Furious Tactics:
Preacherelius manifests Captain Fergus the Furious in ectoplasmic form. 1st round: move and strike a foe (fiends being his primary target - as the only creature might prioritizing over fighting a fiend is Ousmariku (or creatures that look like Ousmariku). At 7th level, also activates Hateful Aura (swift action). 2nd round: Hated Target (move action), melee strike ('Fiend-Ender' slam) 3rd round: full-attack until hated target is dead. Advanced Tactics: Flanks his hated target with an ally. Flavor:
Fergus appears dressed in his pirate captain gear, including his tricorn hat, with his rapier, Fiend-Ender, in his right hand. His aura is all black except for his eyes and the blade of Fiend-Ender, which are bright red. Will add some more flavor if Preacherelius gets picked for the PBP. Phantoms' abilities they had in life:
To match up the abilities each phantom gains from the Priest of the Fallen archetype, I am creating what their levels/abilities would have been in life so that they match up with the abilities they gain as being a phantom for a priest of the fallen spiritualist. In addition to matching up their in-life abilities to the same/similar abilites they regained (and are capable of regaining) as phantoms, it will help me get some ideas for personality quirks of each phantom. Not everything will necessary be filled out, such as all the spells Shimmerella had in her spell repertoires in life. For example, a hierophant phantom has the potential to use bane and bless as spell-like abilities, each 15 times a day, plus prayer and searing life, each once per day. I used that as a reference to get the minimum oracle level that would be able have enough spell slots to be able to cast the spells that many times. Another example, is Irohmentingham had levels in (hospitaler) paladin in addtion to his (prankster) bard levels. He gained levels in paladin after he attained tier 3 mythic and took the Beyond Morality path ability so being chaotic good beforehand did not prevent him from gaining the paladin's lay on hands and mercies (which he will eventually gain as a Kindness phantom). Which is why Irohmentingham will sometimes try to lay healing hands on a wounded ally (as that is what he did in life - oh, the joy he will have when he regains the lay on hands ability). Captain Fergus before he died:
Will fill this section out if Preachererlius gets picked for the PBP. How Captain Fergus gained mythic power:
