Combat Over
Annoyed that another Kobold fled rather than stand and die, Squall directs the group to let it go. He retrieves his bola and secures the unconscious kobold for questioning.
Djala agrees with Squall that the group shouldn’t chase the fleeing kobold. She turns her attention to the halfling Galesong asking their new friend what he is doing here as she tends any injuries with Lay on Hands.
The tired Halfling stands up straight and tries to brush some grime from his torn and dirty brocaded, green velvet doublet and silk leggings. ” Thankyou for your most timely rescue! How I came to be here is a painful and tragic tale. I and my fellow Gray Eagles adventuring troupe based in the town of Olfden were on an expedition north to the mountains seeking fame and treasure. We were ambushed by this group of kobolds aided by a scary gray warg and his pack of wolfs. Sadly most of my companions were killed, only our wizard Tyran Moonsilver and myself were captured alive and dragged to this horrible dark place known as Droskar’s Crucible to be eaten or sacrificed.” Edgrin sighs heavily.
”I had given up all hope until that foul King Merlokrep of the Truescale kobolds sacrificed Tyran in an evil ritual designed to empower his crown. I redoubled my efforts to survive. Drawing upon my skills as an entertainer I traded performances for stays of execution. After all the sacrifice requires enemies of the Truescale not some pet bard. Over the weeksI have managed to stay alive. Recently the kobolds brought new prisoners, a hunter Barlus and more recently a Butcher called Colbin.”
” During a lapse in the guards watching up, we managed to escape, unfortunately during our panicked race through the dungeon we got separated. Having been brought here unconscious none of us knew the route to safety. I’m not sure Colbin made it out of the prison, Barlus was with me until just before the kitchen when we were forced to split up. Barlus fled through doors to the north of the kitchen and I took refuge here holding off the kobold guards.”
Edgrin points to the white kobold, ” That sack of scales was Ygrik the head guard good riddance! Oh there is a cache of potions concealed on the back shelf. I don’t have a healer’s kit, but I can treat wounds or cast a soothe spell.” (1 elixir and 2 mutagen)

He was teaching the ritual to his priests Once they learn it any prisoners they have will die. Even if you rescue Barlus and Colbin the kobolds will just capture more people!”

"We should leave this one tied up somewhere until we deal with the leader and find Barlus. We can leave him here in the kitchen until we come back through." Drake says to the group. "We should continue north and try to find Barlus. Keep your eyes open for another ambush though."
As Drake moves toward the northern hallway, he grips his staff and is ready to move on.

Djala nods in agreement. "I agree that we should find Barlus first, and possibly Colbin? But this kobold king also requires our attention. I will not allow him to continue preying upon the peoples here!" she declaims, stamping the base of her glaive on the ground in a ritual oath.
"We would welcome your assistance, friend Galesong, but please be careful. We will give you directions to return to the surface in case the worst comes to pass."
Does anyone remember hearing about Colbin disappearing? It's not ringing any bells for me. And definitely headed north, in case that wasn't obvious. :)

"Squall" Blacktail |

"The warg and his pack are dead. We made sure of that," Squall informs Edgrin with some grim satisfaction in his tone. "Yes, this kobold king needs to be stopped, and soon, before he becomesAnd yan even greater menace to the whole region. But Djala is right, our priority is finding and rescuing Balrus and Colbin, and any other prisoners we might find." He takes the keys off the dead guard leader, figuring they'll be useful near the prison, at the very least. Unless Munrisk wants it, he sticks the flying talon in his pack. "Meanwhile, we learn what we can about the kobolds' defenses, for when we are ready to go after their king."
He joins Djala leading the way north.
The flying talon is an advanced weapon, so Squall is not trained with it. But it's a kobold weapon, so Munrisk might have a feat that makes them trained, or can take one later. Regardless, it's worth some money, so we definitely take it!
If we want to stuff the unconscious kobold somewhere first, Squall is fine with doing that before moving on. There's surely too much spilled blood to hide that there was a fight here, so I see no point in hiding the other bodies.

Squall informs Galesong about the demise of the warg and his pack. Galesong smiles, ”Hope you made a rug out of his hide!”
Squall agrees that the kobold king needs to be stopped soon, but the priority is finding Balrus and Colbin along with any other prisoners. He packs up the magic flying talon weapon and keys from the dead kobold.
The Unconscious kobold is tied up and hidden in the kitchen nook.
The group heads north from the kitchen with Galesong following along, ” The double doors should be right up ahead. At the intersection, he turned right and I turned left.”.
Not far north the group comes across the intersection with double doors to the north. A hallway continues from the intersection to the east. Opening the double doors reveals a dark cold ossuary full of the sound of dripping water. A dark corridor runs north down the center of the room. On either side, two large bays open into small niches that contain ancient dwarven skeletons. At the far end of the corridor rests a large, iron anvil. You hear a desperate
Prayer for Erastil’s salvation is being repeated over and over from the northernmost portion of the ossuary.
Six sturdy dwarven skeletons with faintly flickering yellow lights for eyes are milling about the room ignoring the one praying to the north, but they do turn to face your group when as you open the doors.

Djala moves up next to Squall. "You must stop jumping out ahead of everyone, friend Squall." She reaches out and casts lay on hands on him. +6 HP
She then swings her glaive at the Yellow one, hoping to take another one out.

Drake has a clear line on the orange skeleton. He focuses on his staff and the runes flair to life as a chunk of bone flies at the creature. He then slides up to the doorway for a better view of the whole battle.

Marguerite cast shield again, moving up to protect Squall’s flank and loading her sling.
Djala also moves up to Squall, admonishing him for jumping ahead. She touches him with her healing hand before shattering the yellow skeleton with a heroic strike of her glaive. The yellow skeleton crumbles from the blow.
With a clear line to the orange skeleton, Drake focuses his staff’s energies to fling chunks of bone, unfortunately the chunks fly past the target having missed.

"I'll try to keep it in mind. Thanks," Squall says to Djala when she scolds then heals him. When she finishes off the skeleton he damaged, he turns his attention to the one next to it and begins slicing at it with his swords.
◆ Hunt Prey vs. Purple

R!Kktik |

R!Kktik squeaks in pain as the skull's jaws close on him. "Oh, I'll see you dust for that!" He advances◆ and readies another versatile vial◆ before hurling it at the black skeleton◆.
Ghost charge bomb attack, incl. courageous anthem: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24
Vitality damage, incl. courageous anthem: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The orange skeleton takes 2 points vitality splash damage (1, if courageous anthem doesn't increase it), and if the black skeleton was hit it's Enfeebled 1 until the start of my next turn.

"Squall" Blacktail |

I forgot courageous anthem on Squall's attacks, but I doubt +1 will make enough difference with those rolls.

Squall takes Djala’s advice under consideration as he begins focusing on the purple skeleton slicing at it with his swords coming very close to hitting it twice. (Included courageous anthem)
Squeaking from a painful bite, R!Kktik advances and throws a versatile boom hitting the black skeleton and splashing to the orange. The vitality energy interacts with the void life force causing the black skeleton to crumble to dust! (I don’t think courageous anthem adds to splash since it is fixed damage)
BOT: Munrisk
Munrisk repeats their actions of recall and bow attacks on the orange bones. They successfully recall that the skeletons are also resistant to slashing. The first arrow hits doing only a little damage due to resistance to piercing.

The purple skeleton bites at Squall hitting with only the second strike. Teeth biting deeply into delicious bird flesh.
The orange skeleton turns its attention to Djala snapping its jaws at her three times and missing three times.
The green skeleton steps forward to attack R!Kktik biting twice leaving two matching wounds.
(Djala can use her retributive reaction on any of the above hits.)
Galesong continues to encourage the group ” Your doing great! Keep dishing out more than you take!” He telekinetically throws more loose bones at the orange skeleton critically hitting it! It is still standing.
The hurried desperate prayer for Erastil’s salvation can still be heard from the back of the room.

Marguerite uses her magic to bathe the area in vital energy that heals her allies and harms the undead who exist on void energy. (Djala’s retribution reaction recon)
Djala blocks some of the damage hitting Squall and smacks the purple skeleton, but does not kill it out right. That happens when Marguerite casts the area effect heal taking out both Orange and Purple skeletons leaving only the green on.
(end of recon)
Drake focuses using his staff to fling a jaw bone at the breen skeleton hitting it hard but not hard enough to kill it.
Djala slashes at the remaining skeleton missing with the first strike, but hitting with the second one. Despite the skeleton’s resistance, the glaive cuts deeply in the bones killing the last skeleton foe!
Galesong sings out excitedly as he rushes forward ” Yess! I knew you would win! BARLUS my friend we have defeated the undead! Are you hurt?”
The group follows Galesong finding a beat up looking Barlus (The hunter you have been looking for) who looks up from his prayer gasping in relief ”I thought I would die here first the kobolds and then the skeletons. Thank you for rescuing me. Please help me out of this place! I have a magic longbow heirloom in Falcon Hollow that I will give you!”
Looking around the skeletons have nothing of value.
Galesong barrows a healing kit and begins treating Barlus’ wounds. ”I can treat your wounds as well if you need it, but it will take a few minutes to treat everyone.” Looking at your group ” What is the plan? Barlus needs help returning to Falcon Hollow, but there is still Colbrin and the mad kobold king with the crown. “

Tik winces in pain as the adrenaline from the fight wears off, and he realizes how badly he's hurt. "I think we'd better press on here once we're all patched up. We don't want to give those kobolds a chance to regroup. Oh, and we should rescue Colbrin, too." Maybe he'll have some nice stuff that I can use....
