Penflower looks at Willorn and for the first time realizes that this dwarf may be more silent than himself, an elf. He chuckles internally for the irony, but makes no attempt to dissuade him. Given the loud noise the mitflits are making, it's unlikely they'll hear him whisper. He says in a low voice to Willorn "It would be good to know how many there are, and how well armed."

Willorn nods and cautiously sneaks nearer to the voices, giving his best not to slip on his way down. He also takes his time to check on those burn and scorch marks.

to try and figure those marks out, I guess those are not natural because they are old and still visible?

Willorn moves in to get a closer look. Unfortunately, he missteps as he gets closer to the sinkhole and he nearly slips, discarding loose stones to fall into the sinkhole, alerting the four mitflits in the 10' deep hole to the danger! Surprise ruined!

Trying to get an advantage from his heightened position, Willorn draws his crossbow and fires a shot at the nearest opponent, hoping to give them pause and allowing his companions to jump into the fight.

If the hole is 10' deep, then Mac can reach them with his halberd, correct? If that is the case, Mac will move in to the edge of the sinkhole and attack the red-boxed mitflit.

First Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 +1 for higher ground?
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Second Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 +1 for higher ground?
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

The mitflits react in panicked and yelling voices as two of their kind are dropped in seconds. They rush to climb out of the pit and flee from the heroes.
