Nykor |
Nykor does some tumbles around Zyk to jog his memory.
Acro: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
GM chadius |
"You know what this reminds me of?" Zykyryz uses some magic to spit up water. "At midday I'd sit on a bench and watch the kids play. They'd dance around the fountain like Nykor... Maybe I could use my magic to help improve their lives, you know?" She falls quiet.
Memory recovered! 6 total.
"Well, this has been fun, but also kinda aimless?" Zykyryz pauses, trying to scratch her head before remembering she doesn't have fingers. "I mean I don't really know where I'm supposed to do- HEY! Take me up there!" The skull begins blathering on and demanding to go until you carry her.
You take her to a relatively nondescript building north of the Bandeshar, providing a lovely view of the massive palace as well as several towers that float suspended above the city. Inside you find a private academy teaching magical theory and music in equal measure, along with the connection many cultures have between the two.
After introducing yourselves you discover the academy is largely funded by a member of the Arclords of Nex. This includes an endowment for impoverished children with magical potential as well as youths of ancestries considered “monstrous” by most societies on Golarion, so they and their families can live at the Starry-Eyed Conservatorium while enrolled. Strangely, none of the students nor staff seem to remember who this arclord is, and no written materials bear their name.
Nykor |
"So we can't get rid of it yet?" Nykor says. "That's quite a palace..."
GM chadius |
"Well, there's something about this place. Did I work on this?" Zykyryz hesitates. "I feel like... okay, with all the memories you showed me, this place is real familiar."
Zykyryz points you to an advertisement for Scorpia’s Grotto, a bar one of the Conservatorium’s graduates opened near the docks, suggesting it’s important.
While looking at the ad, Zykyryz remembers that ordering a “chill‑witch” at Scorpia’s Grotto signals a person is a friend of the Conservatorium to the bar’s staff, and often yields free services.
After encountering the ad, Zykyryz points you to a deaf janitor, who remembers the Conservatorium’s benefactor spent a good deal of time at a place called the Sunmist Stele, one of the towers floating above the city.
She also directs you to a public magic carpet service near the Bandeshar that takes visitors to those locales for 1 sp each.
Zykyryz guides you to the top floor of the Conservatorium, indicating an unmarked door.
Whoever opens the door must make a DC 10 Reflex Save
The skull laughs uproariously.
Nykor |
Nykor studies the door and tries to open it.
Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
"Cheap trick..." Nykor says.
GM chadius |
An ironing board falls towards Nykor's head, but he takes a step back just in time. Looks like it was balancing on the doorframe.
As she finishes laughing, she controls herself long enough to say "That's the janitor's closet! Gotcha!- wait, what IS that?"
A magical portal opens inside the closet.
"I know! This takes you the Sunmist Stele directly. We'll be there in a blink of an eye!"
Inside the janitorial closet are two minor healing potions, clearly marked.
"Anyway, we can go to the Sunmist Stele directly, or Scorpia's Grotto. I'm pretty sure we have to go to both, so pick your poison!"
Once two of you agree on the next destination, we'll go there.
Nykor |
"I admit Scorpia's Grotto sounds intriguing. Plenty of scorpions there?" Nykor says.
Takumi Kamikado |
"You must have spent much time in this place academy to remember something as ... minor as the ironing board," It is obvious Takumi was going to say "frivolous" but changed his mind at the last minute.
"Yes, sounds intriguing. And no, hope no scorpions there. A drink would be welcomed at this time."
Landon_220629 |
Landon sighs and digs into his beltpouch for a moment, retrieving a single silver coin. Looking at it with a frown, he says "Very well, let us go to the Grotto. Though I fear I will be walking back, unless someone can spot me a silver."
I have exactly 1sp left over from character creation, so any subsequent magic carpet trips will have to come out of the chronicle, haha
GM chadius |
"Scorpia's Grotto is on the ground. You'll have to walk." Zykyryz speaks up. "Teleportation magic isn't cheap."
This establishment has been open for almost two years now, hosting musicians of all kinds who perform day and night.
As you enter, you see a >girtablilu< onstage, playing a lute in a rustic, strumming style using her own pincers as castanets.
Her song is about the love of nature found beneath moonlight, primarily staying in a major key throughout the piece. The bartender and servers mostly consist of pechs and gnomes, obviously enjoying the music as they work.
One of the waiters notices you as you enter. "Welcome to Scorpio's Grotto. A homesick Varisian cyphermage built this as a brick‑by-brick reconstruction of a famous inn from their homeland. But the current owner is on stage right now. Gabranaya's making some catchy music tonight!"
"Anyway, what can I get you? Anything to drink? Frontside seats are available." The gnome wiggles his eyebrows. "You've got some time before Gabranaya finishes up."
Desmond Vilks |
Desmond pauses as they walk in. "Well, Takumi, looks like you get scorpions and a drink."
He turns to the server. "Do you know much more about the original owner? Or perhaps Gabranaya would?"
Nykor |
"I'm not getting close to those claws..." Nykor says.
He surveys the crowd and tries to pass some crumbs to Mouse.
Takumi Kamikado |
Desmond pauses as they walk in. "Well, Takumi, looks like you get scorpions and a drink."
Takumi smiles faintly at Desmond jests. "A drink is sufficient for me."
While waiting, Takumi circulates among the crowd, seeing if anyone might happen to know of the history of the bar, especially in relation to an Arclord.
diplomacy: gather information: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
GM chadius |
As Gabranaya finishes up, another “act” suddenly arrives! Four humans dressed in bright red armor storm the bar. Three of them wear red-stained chain shirts (two of them are clearly better at this) while the leather armored leader steps forward.
"Name's Keryn!" one of the members step forward, looks you over and points a finger. "The talking skull... yeah, now I remember! You've cost us a lot of money. Tell the bar to pay up their protection money, or the C Flats are gonna see this bar flattened to the ground!" Fear quickly sweeps through the room as she finishes her threat.
You have an opportunity to non violently calm the C Flats down.
- You can bribe them. This will cost 1 gp for each player.
- You can talk to the leader directly using Deception, Diplomacy, Intimidation, or Society.
Looks like Zykyryz is going to say something- will you let her?
You can also choose to subdue them.
Nykor |
"Come now. We're here to make a deal.."
Diplo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Takumi Kamikado |
The unassuming kitsune quietly steps forward until he is in front of the group of thugs. Takumi glances at each of the Pathfinders, letting his eyes lay just a tad longer on their weapons, then turns back to the intruders.
"Perhaps you might wish to reconsider your demands?" Takumi speaks this in a low, almost gentle voice.
intimidation: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Shinju the Eidolon |
Shinju, without saying a word, steps up to Takumi's side, just slightly behind, glaring at the four humans.
intimidation, aid: DC15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
GM chadius |
"Yeah? Well you don't have mmmpppffffhh-" Desmond wraps Zykyryz in some table cloth.
While Keryn ignores Nykor, Takumi gets her attention. "A tough guy, eh? At least you're not one of those Golem Lovers, eh?" The lackeys boo in perfect unison.
For a skill challenge, either Takumi or Shinju may make the skill check, but not both.
Still waiting for Diplomacy, Intimidation, Deception or Society checks from the rest of the team. Need at least 2 more Successes.
Eddie 'Bo' Leetus |
Eddie follows up on Takumi's veiled threats with a more peaceful discussion, hopefully to change directions in the encounter "I like the name of your group, sea flats. Lots of saltiness there.. and red mud I guess too?" Eddie bobs their head up and down trying to gauge them as best is possible, maybe even sway some of the underlings as well?
Expert Diplomacy, Glad-hand, Group impression: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Eddie is definitely a 'face' build on the side of diplomacy.
Group Impression: Feat 1: When you Make an Impression, you can compare your Diplomacy check result to the Will DCs of up to 10 targets you've conversed with, with no penalty. The number of targets increases to 20 if you’re an expert, 50 if you’re a master, and 100 if you’re legendary.
Glad-Hand: Feat 2: General Skill: Source Core Rulebook pg. 261 4.0: Prerequisites expert in Diplomacy
First impressions are your strong suit. When you meet someone in a casual or social situation, you can immediately attempt a Diplomacy check to Make an Impression on that creature rather than needing to converse for 1 minute. If you fail, you can engage in 1 minute of conversation and attempt a new check at the end of that time rather than accepting the failure or critical failure result.
Landon_220629 |
After Takumi's impressive threat, Landon decides some humour may ease tensions somewhat.
"Please, reconsider what you are asking. I'm sure it isn't worth..." he gestures at Zykyryz, "...losing our heads over?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12
GM chadius |
Whoa, they buffed Glad Hand so it doesn't take the penalty anymore
"C Flats are salty..?" It takes Keryn a moment to get it, but she and her goons form a smile. "I like your style, little guy."
She frowns at Landon's attempts at a follow up, but Zykyryz chuckles at it.
Everyone turns to Desmond.
GM chadius |
"Trying to get answers? You think we're wimps? Oh, that's it!" Keryn cries out before cracking her knuckles. "Alright let's get 'em!"
The patrons quickly duck under the chairs and tables, staying out of your way. The gang reaches for saps, keeping their lethal weapons sheathed.
You can use bar stools and chairs as improvised melee weapons; they’re nonlethal and deal 2d6 bludgeoning damage on a successful hit but are destroyed in the process.
"C Flats! Sharpen yer tongues and flatten your abs, because we're gonna smash this place into the grass!" The goons hoot in unison as Keryn spins on her heel and points at you.
Takumi: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Landon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Nykor: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

"Rumble! Flee, flee!" Eddie ◆ draws out a worn wooden shield, ◆ raises it up high and ◆ scurries quickly up the stairs and on top of a wooden table.
Shinju the Eidolon |
Shinju leaps forward with a majestic roar, landing between Takumi and Keryn. He glances at Takumi briefly as if urging him to retreat, but quickly turns back to Keryn, ramming at him with his horns.
vs Keryn: horns, nonlethal: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 11 - 2 = 21 bludgeoning: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4) + 4 = 11

Takumi Kamikado |
Takumi gives the briefest nod, but just before he pulls back, he concentrates briefly. Seemingly from his body, wispy energy burst forth to surround and protect Shinju.

GM chadius |
Eddie moves to protect themself. Takumi protects Shinju before the beast headbutts Keryn.
"Oof! C Flats! Let's move in! We're gonna rock this dragon!" Keryn shouts before casting a spell, fading from view.
The least armored goon with a Yellow sash moves in and flanks Shinju.

Desmond quickly grabs the goon by their Yellow sash and topples him over.
"C Flats! Charge!" The goon with a White Cross painted on his armor pulls out a sap and runs in. "Boss! The wolf or the Orc?"
Even is Shinju: 1d2 ⇒ 2
"What wolf? Whatever! Hit the thing that hit me!" Keryn grumbles.
"Right, I'll surround it, boss!" The woman tilts her Black helmet for good luck and flanks Shinju.

Landon_220629 |
Landon reluctantly looks away from the menu on the wall, picks up the bar stool he had been about to pull up, and moves up to flank the enemy in the yellow sash. He raises the stool above his head and tries to bring it down over Yellow's head.
Bar stool, to hit: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 1 = 16 (Enemy is flanked, so they should have -2 AC from off guard)
Bar stool, damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 = 13
Action 1: Pick up bar stool
Action 2: Stride
Action 3: Attack
I will move Landon's token when I get to a proper computer, but he should be in the space directly east of Yellow.
Takumi Kamikado |
Yes, Takumi would shield block the first blow, and unfortunately take damage from the 2nd, i.e. 15 dmg in total.
Takumi flinches as first the magical shield is shattered, then again when the 2nd blow hits. Otherwise, nothing much else changes except his eyes narrowing in concentration. The rune on his forehead flashes, followed almost immediately after by the one on Shinju.

Eddie watches the fray from upstairs, cocking their head to the side "We're not composting them? Or maybe you all like your food still kicking? Ok." Eddie ◆ picks up a wooden pitcher and ◆ shuffles quickly back down the stairs, moving to gang up on the downed yellow one.
◆ Smack! Nonlethal vs OG: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 142d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5
Eddie is mostly just a damage dealing caster with some healing spells so combat effectiveness doing nonlethal is not their strong suit.
GM chadius |
Eddie runs down the stairs and barely misses the man on the ground.
"Come on! Get up and fight!" You hear Keryn's voice ring out among the chaos. Her goons shout in unison. "C Flats fight in accord!"
The goon with a Yellow Sash scrambles to his feet. Landon sees an opportunity to quickly punch the goon. Landon, this will trigger a Reactive Strike. Do you take the opportunity?
Assuming he's still conscious, he looks at the trio in front of him and takes a single swing with his sap. Keryn's voice rings out from somewhere in the tavern. "Not the mushroom! They're funny!"
"Right, sorry boss!"
Even is Landon: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Desmond Vilks |
Desmond sighs. "What is it with people and bar brawls? Whatever. Not like I haven't see a few in my time." He grabs the nearest one and slams him into a table. Hard. Then he raises his shield again to ward off any blows.

Nykor casts Guidance to help Landon. Then he picks up a wooden barstool. Where did Keryn go? He tries to Seek out her position.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
"Where did Keryn go? I can't find her!"
Desmond lines up with Shinju to surround the goon with the White Cross. He grabs his head and critically slams him against a table.
After picking his head up from the table, he figures out who to swing at.
1 is Shinju, 2 is Desmond: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Sap: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29

Sap: 1d20 + 11 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 11 - 4 + 1 = 19
"Gee, my nose! Be that way, will ya! I'll Effect yer mascot, then!"
Takumi feels the sap bludgeoning Shinju.
The other goon taps her lucky Black helmet and flanks Shinju, standing where Keryn used to be before turning invisible. "Oy, is this their mascot or something? A rival band battle? I LOVE Band Battles!"
Sap: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29
Nonlethal Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4

Nonlethal Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
Excited by the prospect of a battle of the bands, her aim hits Shinju twice. Takumi feels a bit more dizzy as he absorbs some of the wounds.

GM chadius |
Landon resorts to good old fisticuffs. All he needs is 1 punch to flatted the C Flat fellow with the Yellow Sash. A shame, as he had a mean right hook ready. Landon, you have 1 action remaining. If you're going to make a d20 roll, I'll let you keep the 17.
Eddie decides to shove the goon with the White Cross against the table. "Whoa!" He stumbles against the table and struggles to regain his balance. "Off key!" Eddie, you can choose to move 5ft to the left if you want.

Rereading shove I'd need a hand free, I thought I could use the shield. Eddie will have dropped the mug as a free action then so is now only holding their wooden shield.
Eddie moves ahead to take the man's space, turning to pet the oversized kitty. "It's ok Kitty kitty!"
