"It looksh like your group ish the one that ish caushing trouble in the Mazhe." he tells them accusingly. "You musht shtop your pranksh immediately, or elshe...." he adds but can't continue because the idea of joining the party is also nice.

![]() |

"Pranks?!" Mimiko appears startled, "I'm not sure what you... " her voice trails off and she realizes who you must be referring to. Her voice hardens. "Toshiro, show yourself at once!" The mischievous tanuki and his friends step forward, but let Mimiko do the talking.
"As for the pranks, we apologize if our presence in the maze has caused any inconvenience. It is in our nature to be mischievous, but we assure you that we mean no harm. Perhaps there is a way for us to find a compromise, so we can all enjoy the maze together. I think I have a solution."

![]() |

"Ooo, I'm all for good pranks, too, as long as no real harm is done. Heehee!" She reaches into the folds of her sweater dress and offers a hard caramel wrapped in paper. "Candy for your thoughts? Lay it on us, Mimiko! Heehee!"

![]() |

Mimiko takes the sweet and sucks on it. "Mmmm! This is delightful! Well, there's really only one way to settle this. I think a fair contest would be appropriate to determine who gets to decide whether we should stay or go. As for what that contest should be, there’s only one honorable way to settle the matter!" As usual, Kenta takes a swig from his mug and echoes Mimiko’s words, "Yes, one way only!" Mimiko continues, "And that way is a dance-off!" Kenta nearly chokes on his sake and retorts, "What did you say, Mimiko? A dance-off? I say trial by combat is the only way!" Mimiko looks at Toshiro and his prankster friends, who merely shrug, then at you. "Strangers, looks like it’s up to you to decide. What will it be?"
Decide as a group which one is it?

![]() |

"I can play mushic, but danching? Maybe I can try." Griphook looks to Mimiko's party and then to the Pathfinders.

![]() |

Savan looks aghast at the idea of dancing, but turns to the others. "I'm not a dancer at all, though I'm generally light on my feet. But is it just better than trying to hurt each other? Do we all have to dance, or can we just send just one as a dance champion?"

![]() |

Norbwald takes another swig before passing the bag to Mrs. Crinkle.
"My old bones are tired of running, trial by combat might do us better."

![]() |

"Why not both! Dance and fight at the same time! Heehee!" Mrs. Crinkle takes a deep pull from Norbwald's bag and passes it back to him. "Ooo, that's mighty fine! Puts the fire in me--hoo! Now, I suggest a good ol' fashioned brawl, with bonus points for anyone who does a little dance while they're fighting. That may be a little too complicated to pull off on short notice, but wouldn't it be fun? Heehee!"
Mrs. Crinkle votes for fighting, but she's going to do some dancing too, one way or another.

![]() |

Zelphari looks down at his two left feet and frowns.
"Much as I have no intention of causing any hurt for what was just a prank, however ill-natured it might have been, I'm afraid that dance and my feet are not really well acquainted with each other."

![]() |

Savan unslings his rifle. "I mean, if you want trial by combat, ok. It's gonna get loud."
We're choosing combat? Savan is better at that anyway, I just didn't think he's choose to shoot anyone on a whim.

![]() |

Kenta harumphs and puffs his chest, then proudly announces, "And so shall it be! The matter will be settled in a trial by combat! The rules are simple. The fight takes place in a fighting ring. You do not fight to kill—only to prove who is better. When a fighter goes down, they’re out. When a fighter voluntarily leaves the ring, they’re out. When a fighter gets knocked out of the ring, they’re out. That’s all. I suggest you get ready. We’ll begin shortly."
TLDR Summary:
* Fighting Ring is the red bordered area (you have to be within the "ring"
* All damage is nonlethal.
* 0 hp is "dead"
* Step out of the ring, you're considered dead
* Last man standing wins
You have 10 minutes to prepare.
You may rearrange yourselves if you wish. MAP

Norbwald nods as he chair carried him into the arena.

![]() |

"Ooo! Heehee!" Mrs. Crinkle does a little dance of joy (ironic, isn't it?) as she bustles to the fighting ring. She makes a point to stand beside Norbwald she she can "prepare" by helping him try to find the bottom of his flask.
It's not all fun and games. She straps her shield onto her arm and does some stretching. "Old muscles get tight easily. It's hard to party when you're hobbling from a pulled hamstring, dearies. Heehee!"
She's as ready as she can be without pre-raging.

![]() |

Griphook awkwardly enters the ring to fight, his flute ready to play it.

![]() |

"Whoa, this is a pretty small ring. But fine, it'll do " Savan checks that his rifle is loaded and prepares for the onslaught.
What are we fighting? Tanukis?
Yep!

![]() |

While you prepare, the tanuki build a fighting ring with stones. Toshiro and his friends huddle for a strategy session. When all is in readiness Kenta bids both parties to enter the ring. Once he sees that both parties are ready, he yells "FIGHT!"
Assumption here is that everyone has weapons drawn. Also with the 10 minutes they gave you, your hp are back to full (either medicine checks or doing shots from Norbwald's flask! :) )

It seems that with assurance, Zelphari can pretty much just shove all the tanuki out with enough time, but that kind of trivialises the encounter. And it is quite fun anyway, so don't mind I won't do that?
Despite himself, Zelphari starts grinning as the combat continues. Much as the tanuki have been irritating, he finally acknowledges that it is out mischief (although not entirely harmless). Seeing the battle clearly in the party's favour, he also loathes to end it too quickly.
Turning to face the as yet unharmed Kagebashi, he calls out, "Tell your friend when he wakes that no I did not find it hilarious!" He makes no attempt at being intimidating, however, as he grins ear-to-ear. He pushes out his free hand and yells, "Kamehameha!" Zelphari glances briefly at Griphook to make sure he's ok, then dashes around to flank Tonta. And again, another club made of force manifests to strike at the tanuki before disappearing.

Good point. Let's finish this.
Hero Point (bard): 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 = 27
I forgot the +1 to damage. Total damage should be 7.

The watching tanuki roar and groan at almost the same time. They have clearly enjoyed the spectacle though are disappointed at the loss of Toshiro and his friends.
Mimiko charges forward, accompanied by other tanuki elders, who heal everyone.
"You have won, " Mimiko says, "Our fate is in your hands. However, if we promise to restrict our pranks to our enclave, will you let us stay in the Maze?"
"Yes! We promise!" other tanuki chime in.
Your decision :)
