Please fill out RPG Chronicles and enter your information on the Slides (both will be linked above) prior to the start of Gameday on September 8th.

Any GM Glyphs to share, or anything else I should know about your character before we begin?

Feel free to start introducing your characters in the Gameplay thread.

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

Okay, links provided!

I have been told that the con will be offering door prizes. To be eligible for the drawing you need to provide an email address on RPG Chronicles--so make sure to do that (but you were doing that anyway, because you want me to send you a Chronicle, right?)/

Horizon Hunters

Am I too early?

Horizon Hunters

Dumb Question, should I go with a lighter armor for now?

Horizon Hunters

I do have 2 glyphs to give.

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

We have six players signed up, but I see only three have joined the thread.

Let's see if we can locate them.

Any other Glyphs? And be sure to fill out RPG Chronicles and the Slides, linked above.

Horizon Hunters

Are we really a party made up of small and 1 large characters? That is really funny.

Horizon Hunters

Do we have a glyph count total yet>

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

So far, you're the only one who's reported any. Anyone else?

Bard 2 | Hero Points: 1/3 | Active Conditions: None | Speed: 25ft Human HP 24/24 | AC 18 | DC 18| Fort +4, Ref +7, Will +7 | Perc +7, Low-Light Vision |

Oh whoops, I thought I'd reported my glyph count. Must have mixed it up with another game that just started.
I also have 2 Glyphs and if we do have a fifth or sixth player, I'm happy to be the one without a glyph.

Horizon Hunters

We are still waiting for a few people, correct?

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

Signs point to no...

There were two other signups, but I'll move on regardless later today.

Just checking that the map is correct? From the description it sounds like the swarm ended its turn in the same space as the PCs to attack, but on the map it appears the swarm has flown away.

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

It's just a little hard to see because it's in your spaces.

You might be looking at the marked space for where it starts the encounter?

Ah, sorry, I thought that the box labeled 'Swarm' represents the swarm's position. My bad.

Horizon Hunters

He should be able to attack the swarm then, correct?

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

Yes, it's in your space. And it's a Large swarm of flying creatures, so it does also fill the space above you (might be relevant for aiming area effects without hitting each other).

Apologies all, I was suddenly hospitalized, so didn't have ready access to the internet. I'm going to catch up tonight and should be available again from here on out.

Horizon Hunters

oh no. I hope that you are doing better.

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

Oh dear. That's too exciting.

Horizon Hunters

There was a bomb threat today at my school.

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

That is also too exciting.

I've been told that Kazaleti will no longer be with us.

Thanks Super Zero!

Also, since this is my first PFS 2e game, I was wondering: is the level of player engagement and roleplay in this game typical for PFS 2e via play-by-post?

Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

Not at all. I'd say the special table I was GMing is more typical.

So you may want to do a little more exploring, but the ogre was the last obstacle. If you'd like to make downtime checks here, go ahead and I can include them on your Chronicles.

Zooska, you're new to PFS? If you have any question about session rewards (like downtime), just let me know.

Yes please! What do I need to do now? I read about downtime, but I'm still a bit confused. Do I just roll a single Craft, Perform, or Lore check and get money for that?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Pathfinder Provisions ◆◇↺

You get downtime that you can use for things like retraining or crafting--though don't retrain at level 1, you can freely rebuild a level 1 character between sessions and aren't locked in until level 2. It's generally 2 days x the XP for the adventure, so eight days for a standard scenario.

Downtime is handled by the player between sessions, so you don't actually need a GM for it, but the RPG Chronicles tool lets the GM add it to be printed on your Chronicle sheet, so a lot of online players will prefer to do that.

Earning Income is kind of the default downtime activity, though I think of it more like what you do if you don't have anything more important planned.
Since the campaign GM is the leadership team which doesn't interact with every player every session, they have some standard rulings about available jobs (don't worry, they're pretty generous): You never need to spend time finding a job, and can use the entire downtime to Earn Income if you want; you can always use your choice of Craft, Performance, or any Lore, plus any other options granted by feats or boons; and you use a task level of the character's level -2, minimum 0.

Since Zooska is a 1st-level character, you'd use a level 0 task. That sets the DC and the value.
That's DC 14, and you earn nothing on a critical failure, 1 cp per day on a failure, 5 cp per day on a success, and 2 sp per day on a critical success (the success result for a task one level higher). At higher levels you'll earn more if the character is an Expert or better, but that doesn't apply at first level.

...it's not a huge amount compared to treasure from the adventure, but it's a freebie so might as well take it.

So: DC 14 Craft, Performance, or any Lore.
Critical success: 2 sp x 8 days = 1.6 gp
Success: 5 cp x 8 days = .4 gp
Failure: 1 cp x 8 days = .08 gp
Critical Failure: 0 gp

Thank you so much for the very clear explanation! Okay, Zooska engages in acrobatic hairstyling and shaving as performance art:

Perform: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Success! So that should be 4 silver.

Chronicles distributed, and reported to HQ.

A breakdown for anyone interested:

Spoiler:
1 Treasure Bundle for finding the gemstones in the birds' nest. Check
3 Treasure Bundles for negotiating with the orcs (or, alternatively, defeating them and then searching their camp). Check
1 Treasure Bundle for finding the talisman at the entrance of the cave. Check
2 Treasure Bundles for finding the coins in the ogre's mattress. Check
1 Treasure Bundle for the ogre's gear. Check
2 Treasure Bundles for the jewelry on the corpses in the refuse pile. Check
That's all 10.

Primary Objective: 2 Reputation with your chosen faction for crossing the mountain and earning at least 11 Discovery Points along the way to complete the trek.
Secondary Objective: 2 additional Reputation with your chosen faction for earning at least 23 Discovery Points and winning the contest. Squeaked it out.
Bonus Objective: The Horizon Hunters pride themselves on being explorers, discovering unknown wonders, and being celebrated for their accomplishments. They also hold an unwritten code of the wilderness, and leaving the team of Chelaxian youngsters to die in the avalanche when the PCs could have saved them brings shame to the whole faction. You could have earned additional Reputation with the Horizon Hunters if you had saved the nobles (check) while still earning 25 Discovery Points (not quite).
