Heeding Cherry's advice Arrian sheathes his rapier, but keeps his shield, and steps out into the clearing. He bears in mind what Juriya said and remarks to Gogmurt, "We're worried about what else lives down there that could cause problems for all of our people in the future both short and long-term."

Gogmurt tries his best to keep calm, but the goblins, who were not understanding the conversation and were just confused, seem genuinely excited to see people they can attack there. However, as promised, the cat growls very loudly and the goblins stand down. Gogmurt gives the cat a small treat.

The druid is completely disarmed by Juriya's eloquence, especially after watching her transform and does an awkward bow, that's both comical and respectful. He answers Donimah "Noone has called me that yet. But it's fitting. Right now we have much work to do." After Arrian talks, he says "Go ahead, go ahead. And remember our deal."

The group moves on and see that the previously weak rope bridge has been reinforced and a quick study reveals that it can sustain much more weight than before, as if the goblins aren't as worried about being invaded as before.

The wooden fort itself stands the same, with doors and windows open to let the air flow.

"What work is that?" Donimah asks. "Are you referring to what you're doing out here, or what we're going to do in there?"


Gogmurt replies to Donimah "As you can see, I'll make druids of these goblins yet!"

@Arrian: your memory is correct. This is where you entered last time. There are few ways forward.

The way is clearer and the air is cooler than before. In the open patio, the little locked house the group previously saw is now open, and a very large horse lays dead next to the entrance. The way forward leads to a few doors, one of which led to the stairs the group took down.

Exploring the rest of the ground floor shows an empty complex. It seems this is where the goblin's level when Nualia was here. Right now, there are no goblins in here. Another stairway down can be seen, and it is probably the one that the goblins took down yesterday.

I've cleared the fog of war for the ground floor, as it is not very interesting. Now there are 2 ways down, the one closer to the entrance and the back way. Last time you went the back way.

@GM: Take 10 on a Heal check for 16 on the horse? How long was it killed and does it look like work of the goblins?

@Juriya: I don't know if I understood your post correctly, but Gogmurt stayed behind to teach the goblins, he's not with you.

Arrian's examination of the horse determines that it was stoned to death. Given its size, it clearly took many stones to do the job, which is weird, since such a proud creature would surely try to meet its aggressors. Given the group was here yesterday and could hear the horse through the wood, it was anxious, hungry and afraid. Probably very angry. It would take something extraordinary to keep this beast in place to be stoned. Something such as a few druid spells?

@GM: Sounds like we're heading down the stairs by the red lightning bolt. Are we in the top map and that's down the stairs? Would there be a Knowledge check to determine what could 'freeze' the horse?

Or a Knowledge check on the elk-looking creature?

"I think there's a lot of something else in this location. You see how eager Gogmurt is for us to go in and clear the place out for him. Although goblins are cravenly so it's not surprising they'd rather someone else take the risk."

@Arrian: A few things. First I moved the red lightning bolt. You placed it in a stairway up that leads to a watchtower. You were here last time and found two goblins sleeping on the job, who you CdG'd. The map isn't very clear with that, I'll put a red arrow showing stairways that go down and yellow for up.

An appropriate check would determine if a specific method was used to immobilize a horse. For example, knowledge engineering would determine if rope was used considering the environment, but a heal would determine if there are rope marks on the horse itself (BTW, your heal roll didn't give you this information). Finally, a Spellcraft check would allow you to determine if a spell was used to immobilize the horse, although the DC would be enormous, considering the spell's effect are no longer visible. If you can think of other creative ways to learn that, of course, I'd listen. In my post, however, I tried to make it clear that Gogmurt helped in downing the beast.

Last comment: I already updated the map of the 1st floor down, with the fog of war of what you've already explored. Any particular direction you'd like to go? I'm using that code of a white ball for a door and a red ball for a set of double doors.

@GM: Okay I wasn't sure about the horse. Arrian (and I) suspect Gogmurt had something to do with it but I can't think of anything beyond Knowledge (Nature) to see what Gogmurt might have used. In player terms I would think Handle Animal but who knows? It's not a major thing; I was more curious if he could glean information like did the big cat attack the horse, was it tied down, etc.

@Arrian: Well, this has nothing to do with the story, so I'll just satisfy your curiosity. Gogmurt got the horse out of the shed with Charm Animal, then placed goblins in opposing sides of the courtyard and cast Entangle in it. As the horse slowly moved across it, the goblins from the farthest entry would throw stones at him and the ones from the nearest entry would hide. He cast Speak with animals to talk to the horse and get him more confused and frustrated while the goblins rained stones, until it was dead.

Arrian opens the door to find an empty room with some cages and some small droppings and food leftovers. It seems that some type of pet was kept here although it's empty now.
