This is a discussion thread for Outpost VII game #3-19: Mean Streets of Shadow Absalom. All of the recruitment need to happen through the official sheet

Hey Folks,

I have filled in the links, that I would hope that you could fill in:
- Macro sheet - it is for secret checks and initiatiative
- Presentation - with your avatars + ordering if by any chance there would be combats
- RPG Chronicles - for reporting purpose

Please let me know when you fill them in, so that I don't have to chase you down ;)

==============

It is a pleasure to have you all at my table, I know each and every one of you (altho I did not GM for everyone yet ;)).

Ok All, the rules of the house:
- I expect you to post daily from monday to friday, ideally also once through the weekend (but this is nice to have).*

I will do my best to follow that rule, but some time ago I switched jobs and moved to a different country, and I get those periods of time when everything is chaotic. On purpose I signed up to small amount of tables for Outpost and I am only GM'ing one table to once again see how it goes.
- Be nice and respectful towards the other players/gm. We are all here to have fun, so lets have it
- Feel free to ask questions and challenge me on my decisions. I am not an orcle when it comes to rules so feel free to raise your concerns
- I am running fights in block initiatives, I treat init rolls as a guidance and then cluster players together, sometimes I will move a bad guy up or down, just to not have a lot of back and forth between PCs and enemies => so that we can wrap up rounds during one day.
- For secret checks you can either roll them yourselves (put them in the spoiler and don't peek) or ask me to do them.

Above all, welcome all! The game starts on 4th of March, if I feel like it I may set up a scene for you to introduce yourselves

I put Liam in the second rank because he has a reach weapon, but he can be in the front if we don't have other melee fighters who want it.

Dr. Lazarus can offer the Magical Mentor boon, from Grand Archive. This probably doesn't help an Inventor much, but it provides a bonus spell slot for the highest rank spell and bumps Spell DCs by 2.

Anyone else have boons more fitting for our Inventor?

Hobbs has

Magical Mentor (Grand Archive)
While working with less experienced Pathfinder allies, you provide key spellcasting insights that augment your colleagues’
magic. Any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours can prepare one additional spell of their
highest-level spell slot or cast one additional spell of their highest-level spell slot. When casting spells of a magical tradition that
is the same as the tradition you use for spellcasting, the affected PC also increases the Level Bump’s modifier to spell DCs to 2.

Normal: A Level Bump increases a PC’s spell DCs by 1, and it does not grant any additional spells prepared or spell slots.

Special: A PC can only benefit from two mentor boons.

If it is not obvious by now ;) This scenario is heavy tilted into RP ;) And as most of the scenarios have: a bit of RP, fight, a bit of RP...

In here we have: RP, RP, RP and then fight, fight, fight ;)

So if you are hesitant on wearing your RP pants, put them on right away ;)

Sorry about the lackluster RP. I've been having a bit of trouble getting into Hobbs' head and pulling out appropriate dialogue for some reason. Maybe I need to rewatch gremlins 2 for inspiration from the brain gremlin.

I made a post talking to the hag but it looks like I must have previewed and not posted. I don't even remember what I asked her but it somehow involved trading a cookie for a pickle and trading recipes with a crafting check in the low 20s. I think Hobbs was also disappointed that the black bits were chocolate chips and not beetles although I may have ditched that part.

Watery wrote:
Although you didn't mention it, there was a Season 2 scenario that I played - with Quinoline - #2-07 The Blakros Deception, in which it was implied that someone from the Shadow Plane was doing something nefarious. However, my party must have failed something pretty major, because we discovered none of the titular deception. So Quinoline (and me, by extension) can honestly say there's no ill will to bear, but I'm not sure how it would play out if other players or characters found differently.

I was in exactly the same situation. I played all 3 parts of the arc not knowing who is the main bad guy. And this scenario starts with briefing sayign: Bad person is Aslynn!

I think the overall concept was:
3-01 and 3=06 is abotu Onyx Alliance attacking PF using shadow plane to come in.
In 3-17 you head into shadow plane and you discover that there is someone else sending Onyx Alliance on PF2.

And this is the outcome, when PF 2 discovers that Aslynn wants to steel items. But overall I am missing a bit more breadcrums that would lead to Aslynn earlier

Since I was tough math on the best Goblin University in the whole Absalom, When you subtract 30 - (26 ff) so effectively 24 it gives you 16!

============================

Jokes aside, I was writing the post in the morning, and did not manage to finish it, time went out, so I previewed it, was certain that the roll was a crit and wrote it as such, then saved my post in a document and finished it off the following day without checking my math :( My bad, Will retract it, and patch the wounds.

Inventors don't get Crit Spec unless they have a Weapon Innovation.

And while Liam did design his weapon, it's not his Innovation (for one thing, it's not a legal choice since it's an advanced weapon).

Exactly what Liam said. Marcien has ability that allows him to spawn up to two shadow forms that can strike, those shadows have attack stats, and defensive stats.

Hey folks, just to let you know, this weekend is easter ;) which I am sure you know as most countries get stat holidays around it. I will be driving this weekend to visit my parents and some extended family => 13 h journey. As such starting from tomorrow I may not be able to post until monday/tuesday. I will see how it go, but just so that you know.

In terms of timing we are in a reasonable spot so should end up without any problem before the end of April

Liam succeeded on his initial save, so I thought that only lasted one round?

He was slowed for that round, as he failed the save at the beginning of his turn. But I thought it was done after that, so I haven't been doing it.

Huh. I think you're right. For some reason I thought that summoned allies only got a single action on the round that they were summoned but I can't find anything to support that. Would it be possible then for his first attack to have been with a claw so that he could grab at no penalty for his second action? The damage would be less.

claw, slashing: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

grab: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

Meh that probably won't grab and certainly wouldn't have hit as a second attack. It would be 4 less damage total though.

Well, the creature is incorporeal so grab would not work on it ;) Due to rules: strength based checks of corporeal creature does not work on incorporeal and vice versa.

She's also leveling up to 11, so if anyone else is in the same boat and wants to make a high-tier run of either level 9-12 scenario, I'd love to jump in (and perhaps even help organize).

Dr. Lazarus is leveling to 10, and I'd love to have him join Quinoline in a high-level scenario.

Except ... my plan was to wait till PC2 for the remastered Investigator. Wanna use my Society rebuild to change some level 10 stats around, so I kinda need to wait till August for that. If you organize a second scenario after PC2, I'd love to join.

Quinoline is itching for a rebuild, too, and also waiting for PC2.

I don't expect that there would be a 9-12 game that ran again until the next convention, which is after PC2 is scheduled to come out.
