Arms crossed, Natula taps her boot and looks meaningfully at her wrist sundial as the customary magical-sticks-that-their-owners-are-incapable-of-using-properly are produced and waved about. Her eyes roll hard enough to be considered torture by a war-crime tribunal.

#2-21 The Dalsine Affair

When you enter foyer of the manor, you witness fierce fight between Jacquo Dalsine and Muhlia Al-Jakri. Before you could intervene, Al-Jakri sliced clean through the Taldan noble’s throat. Chalfon Dalsine stands laughing at the top of the stairs, an awkwardly aloof look on his mustachioed face. Pasha Muhlia al-Jakri stands in a pool of blood over Baron Jacquo Dalsine’s beheaded corpse, twirling her twin kukris around her nimble fingers.

“I'm done with this whole ‘shadow war for Absalom,’ the Scociety can keep scouring the world for useless treasures and risking their lives for delusional fame and worthless fortunes if they like.” She spits on Jacquo’s corpse, then taps her left toe to her right heel, and vanishing from scene of the crime. Chalfon continues maniacal laughter as if nothing happened.

With aid of spell, John notices a man identical to Chalfon, but Al-Jakri remains unseen. He seems to be casting spells. "Damn, I didn't expect you to find real me that fast. But you will die along with rest of your Society." he smugly announces

Byron starts moving around the table, but briefly pauses the he passes the chanting Wither. Now, he wasn't sure what she was casting, but there were only two things he'd heard Pathfinders talk about that took that long to cast - enlarge, and summons.

So, instead of trying to box Dalsine in, Byron curves around to the left and chucks a sharpened piece of iron to the right of the stairs.

Using the Enduring Scholar boon from the Dark Archive Season 9 faction reward card: "Once per adventure before rolling a saving throw against a spell, you can apply a bonus equal to 1 + half the number of goals you have completed"

Using a chronicle boon from Emerald Spire: Shrine of the Awakener, Secrets of Serpent Magic: "use this boon as an immediate action before attempting a saving throw against a spell or SLA to gain a +4 insight bonus on that save. When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet."

Reflex DC 18: 1d20 + 4 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 4 + 4 = 18 Whew!

Birseko takes 24 points of damage - ouch!

Birseko reels from the blast - he can hardly remember whatever prior adventures had given him the skill to - just barely - survive for now. Without delay, he calls forth a spell to protect himself and his comrades.

Casting Resist Energy (Fire) Communal. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I have any way to boost the CL to 7, so it provides Resist 10, not 20. The range is touch and Birseko moves 30. It looks to me like he can immediately effect himself and Natula, then move 30' and touch everyone but John Carlos, but since John Carlos is also moving at this spot in the initiative, as long as he moves to a spot along Birseko's path (shown on the map), he should be included too. Duration is 60 minutes divided by the number of recipients.

Well. I swear I posted my post. I moved John even. Crap. Here we go again.

Ok, same rolls as last time. Here is what John did/does. He started next to the center of the fireball so Birseko should get him.

John almost dies. He sees his crisped body falling to the ground. A flash of light comes from his necklace as it turns to dust, keeping him just barely up.

Knowing that it is mostly useless to illuminate his now visible foe, he still doesn’t have much else he can do before fleeing. A blast of glitter slams into the jerk bag caster.

Cast Glitterdust on enemy, area shown on map. DC 17 Will Save or Blinded. Move outside the room.

@GM: I'm going to guess that's a high enough check to determine if Chalfon is human so Gaius will use a swift action to Bane vs. human, a 5' step to get Chalfon within 30' (looks like it from where I'm counting), and full round attack with Rapid Shot and his absolute mess of bonuses. If the stat line isn't clear send me a PM and I'll double check it.

@GM: I forgot until I went to change Gaius' HP that he is invisible (well until he fires) and I believe that's an extra +2 to hit. I couldn't 'grab' his token without grabbing the template so I inserted a lightning bolt shape where Gaius is taking his 5' step.

The ‘You’ was at John. He was the only one who saw the caster casting the spell before the fireball. John also can’t be healed, channels don’t go through walls. If that effects your position.

Natula fires electric rays, which zap the other wizard within inch of his life. Byron channels healing energy.

Chalfon steps next to Byron and his blade is infused with spell energy when he hits Byron. His wounds seem to heal as he strikes him.

I believe Chalfon is blind. He does get a will save (DC 17) at the end of his turn to end the blindness though.

I believe the bat swarm’s initiative comes before Wither, so the bats get to attack Chalfon once. Usually the summons are controlled by GM but sometimes GM give me permission to control them. Just want to know which way is preferred.

If I am correct, then the blue outline on the map I saw earlier today/yesterday was the outline of the fireball and it was centered at ground level. In which case, Natula took half damage if we go with the roll made in the actual Gameplay thread, and Kalas didn't need to make the save.

Natula withdraws her magical pearl of power from it's pouch and uses it to fire a flurry of force darts at the Chalfon.

#2-21 The Dalsine Affair

Natula's magic and Gaius's deadly arrows end his life. The person who was killed before the fight was Baron Jacquo Dalsine, cousin of Chalfon and leader of Taldor faction within Society.

DC 20 Perception check:
You find Muesello’s items that were taken during the raid, successfully completing the mission given by the venture-captain. With these key pieces of evidence missing, the Pathfinder Society can no longer be linked to the Dawnflower Blossoms. Further exploration of the Dalsine home uncovers Chalfon’s diary. The diary reveals how he, as initiate, was expelled from Pathfinder Society after he had become dissatisfied with the organization's rules. To help influential Shadow Lodge member known as The Spider bring down the Decemvirate, he devised ruthless plot, which involved the faceless stalkers infiltrating cult of Sarenrae, and pitting Muhlia Al-Jakri and Jacquo against each other.

DC 20 Knowledge (local):
Chalfon’s onyx ring is emblazoned with an icon of a dark, wispy flame. It is emblem of the Shadow Lodge.

Cheliax/Dark archive:
Cheliax faction PCs must to recover one of Chalfon’s body parts to take back with them. Doing so without the other Pathfinders noticing requires a successful Sleight of Hand check opposed by the rest of the party’s Perception checks. Secretly collecting part of Chalfon’s body earns Cheliax faction PCs 1 Prestige Award.

Taldor/Sovereign court:
Taldor faction PCs’ mission is complicated by Baron Jacquo’s death. Finding the location of the Dalsine baronial estate is quite easy, as they are a well-known family. A simple DC 15 Diplomacy (gather information) or Knowledge (local) check in town will suffice. What happens once they get there depends on how they approach the situation. If they bring Baron Jacquo Dalsine’s body to the estate, they automatically succeed in their mission, and received the thanks of a grateful family. If they do not, they must negotiate Taldor’s byzantine social conventions to make peace with his father, which require a successful DC 25 Knowledge (nobility) or Diplomacy check. Making the proper social gestures to the baron’s father earns Taldor faction PCs 1 Prestige Award.

Natula smirks back. Then, she unfurls a short scroll.... She reads the words and a thick mist suddenly settles over the room obscuring her from sight.

Cheliax/Dark Archive:
]Natula waits for the others to step (10'-15') away from the body (perhaps to collect the venture-captain's things, which she can help point out). Then she casts obscuring mist from a scroll, moves to cut off his ring finger (and ring) with her spiked gauntlet and let's Kalas fly it away while she exits in the opposite direction never to be seen by these people again.
stealth in the fog: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Natula makes the check while the other characters are not allowed a perception check to see. Regardless she might need this to slip away. Either way, it would be the same roll.
