Gideon Dawnbringer |
Gideon begins his retreat... then seeing nobody else is interested in living stops 60' away and loads his bow looking for someone to shoot.
He spends a round running away before turning wondering why his companions have such a deathwish.
Jaylen Greystone |
Jaylen feels like he’s stuck between and orc and a hard place atm.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 another Primal Savagery.
Jaylen turns to face the orc that asked about his wound and swipes with a feral swing, hopeful to at the least, keep the orc backed away. If successfull: 1d10 ⇒ 2 acid damage.
DM Paguroid |
fyi, I shifted the map north by 20' to accommodate Gideon's retreat.
Toki's axe does indeed catch the orc on the chin, and while it's not enough to fell the creature, it is no longer very steady on its feet.
hmmm I wasn't sure what Braith would want to do this round, but I think I'll have to bot her anyway.
Mace: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Surprised that her last attack hit, Braith almost drops her mace!
Jaylen turns back to the other orc, and just catches it on the arm as it tries to leap out of the way. They do a lot of damage, but fortunately their AC is terrible
@Jacka-Lope: Rabbit Hop is actually 5 feet * proficiency, so I'll move you back 10'. Also, don't forget that the goblin is Hexed -- I assume that the extra damage applies to spell attacks, so that's an extra 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage.
Black Orc v Jaylen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Blue Orc v Toki: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Orange Gob v Jacka-Lope 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Orange Gob v Jacka-Lope 2 (disadv): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The black orc is so surprised by Jaylen's attack, that his great axe gets tangled in the bush next to him.
The blue orc glares at Toki, spits a mouthful of blood and teeth into the warrior's eyes, blinding Toki so that he cannot defend himself from the greataxe that nearly chops him in half.
The goblin leader is unimpressed by Jacka-Lope's backward leap -- stalking up to the warlock, he takes two swipes at Jacka-Lope, his scimitar slicing across a thigh. 4 damage
Round 4
Jacka-Lope -4

Wow, I rolled a lot of 1s this round
Everyone is up! Please post your actions.
Braith Ablewillow |
Sorry, I thought my last action counted for this round!
Mace again: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
She continues to bash at the orc, recovering a little but still shaken.
Toki Sigurdson |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Death Save 1: 1d20 ⇒ 20 Holy moley!
Toki finds himself standing at giant oaken doors, sounds of revelry from within... He bangs on the door, and after a moment it opens and a tall Northman looks at him and shakes his head, Not your time, boy.
The door slams shut with a thunderous boom and his eyes flutter open! No! It was in my grasp!
The sounds of battle around them draw his attention back to the task at hand... Well... back to work!
hp 1/12; prone
Jacka-Lope |
The bunny makes a jump to put some space between him and the goblin and then blows out his breathe so that as he exhales it takes on a frosty tinge as he tries to freeze the goblin to death
Frostbite
You cause numbing frost to form on one creature that you can see within range. The target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 1d6 cold damage, and it has disadvantage on the next weapon attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
CON DC 13
1d6 ⇒ 5 cold
1d6 ⇒ 3 hex
DM Paguroid |
Gideon: Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d6 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 6 = 10
Crit! Gideon's arrow kills the orange goblin.
Braith's attack kills the blue orc.
Jaylen: Primal Savagery: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 231d10 ⇒ 5
Hit!
Black Orc v Jaylen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Miss!

Toki Sigurdson |
Snatching up his axe, Toki stands behind the orc, And Hela spat me out...
Handaxe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Dammit! Can't let me be cool for one moment, can you, Diceroller? >.< My only hope is that it is enough of a distraction for Jaylen to finish the job!
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
His wounds prove too much for the young raider, and his axe bangs ineffectually on the black orc... Swaying, Toki taunts, Are you good enough to finish the job?
Gideon Dawnbringer |
Starting to get a little more confidence since some of the enemy was losing confidence, Gideon releases another arrow at the remaining orc.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Bow
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Arrow
But it seems that his bow had only one last hurrah before giving up the ghost as the bowstring snaps and the arrow only travels a couple of feet in front of him before lodging in the ground... then falling over.
Okay GM you have to roll all Gideon's attack rolls from this time forward. :-)
Braith Ablewillow |
However it needs to shake out - if Toki moved up or was swinging against a dead orc :-p...
Braith walks up behind Toki and asks her god to bind the wounds of the courageous fighter. Cure Wounds 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
If we've all moved up, Braith is there in case the (black) orc fells Toki, but otherwise is not adjacent.
DM Paguroid |
Correct! Also, I moved Toki and Braith as described.
@Gideon: From your current position, you can't see the remaining orc (and it would be long distance if you could -- you are more than 80' away).
@Jacka-Lope: You hit the orc because of the 20, but fyi, it has 3/4 cover from where you are currently standing.
Jaylen: Primal Savagery: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d10 ⇒ 1
The orc calls out: "Boss? Chi yno? Rwy'n cadw torri'r f@$%ers hyn yn eu hanner ac maent yn dal i godi yn ôl ..."
And, when there's no response, mutters in Common: "Well to hell with this..." before disengaging and running off toward the mountains.
End of combat, unless you plan to pursue / attack with ranged
fyi, I will be away next week, likely without internet access. Feel free to post your plans / next steps.
DM Paguroid |
Oh right -- sorry about that. I think by the order of initiative, the goblin would have died first. Frostbite is a cantrip, right? so no loss of spell slot.
Braith Ablewillow |
Feeling assured that the orc is not going to come right back, Braith looks around and sees that no one is terribly injured, but asks anyways. I don't have any clerical healing left, but I do have some bandages. Is everyone okay? She starts cleaning her own wounds.
Toki Sigurdson |
Thanks to your god, I am full of vigor and could pull the ears off a baby troll! Toki laughs. Well, maybe we should take a breather and figure out our next move. Eh, lass? What does your mission entail now?
Toki looks at the dwarven priestess meaningfully, awaiting his answer...
DM Paguroid |
Winnow looks up from where she has been seeking guidance from her deity: "First, I must also apologize -- like Braith, I also no more access to healing magic today. I'm sorry that so many of you were hurt on what was meant to be a short trip to the shoreline."
"Given that raiding parties have made it so far from the mountains, I think that I ought to return to the clan and speak with my father. We might have to advance our plans reclaim the Fairheights before the orc tribes are further emboldened."
"My plan was to retrieve a special red pearl to use in a ritual communion, but perhaps Berronar Truesilver has answered my questions, if indirectly. I have a new question, however: What is your interest in helping us in our greater goal of reclaiming the Fairheight Range and, ultimately, making our way back through the Tunnels of Dwarvenholm to our rightful home on the isle of Gwynneth?"
Braith Ablewillow |
It does appear that this is where our path is taking us. After a quick rest, where to next? Sounds like you, Winnow, are headed back home?
DM Paguroid |
Winnow raises both hands "Now, I know that you have your own quest to complete, and I don't want to stand in the way of that. As well... well, I ought not to speak ill of my father and his advisors, but the clan will likely deliberate for some time over this -- heading off the conflicting advice was the reason I hoped to seek the counsel of The Revered Mother. Best if you continue your mission from the Earthmother -- I will contact you when we are ready."
