Still pondering what to do with my Persona phase and my trait. I'll try to have something up sooner than later.
GM Peachbottom |
Hoooo boy, that's a lot of information to take in! I should have a post up tomorrow morning.
It's not as much as it seems.
I introduced two new things: Loyalty and Rebuilding Stachys.
Short version
Loyalty: Do good things, loyalty goes up.
Rebuilding Stachys: Pick one thing from the list to build each week; repeat.
Since most people are still deciding on what to do, I'll give more time before I post.

Tychus wrote:What have I done to displease the dice gods? Hero Point re-roll.That sucks. You have clearly displeased the dice gods. I gave one bonus but I can't keep doing it.
What makes it more funny/sad is the nat 1 that followed, haha.
Xallis Livara |
Very busy week! House drama, etc etc, many very early mornings, lots of things happening. I'll be delayed in posting.
Henrika Karthis |
I’m fine with you rolling, GM! Henrika can cast Hermesn potential five times, so she will give one to each person making a check before they roll the die.
Liraela the Inkweaver |
Does the maze scene happen regardless of if we pass the DC 25 diplomacy/bluff check? I’m writing up a longer catch-up post now and curious if I need to make the check at all.
GM Peachbottom |
Yes, the diplomacy/bluff check would not change her night behavior.
And even the sense motive/spellcraft, if you confirm something is wrong with Sepsinia, if you thought to put a protective watch on her or prevent her from leaving, she simply wouldn't leave while you are there but you would not come any closer to helping her. She'd just wait until the next night you aren't around.
I don't want to say too much without revealing things.
Tychus Marcaius |
The entangled area is also difficult terrain, so Tychus can only move 3 spaces with one move. I moved him back one space, since you moved him 4 spaces, which is still in the entangled area. He passed the save though so he is not entangled.
Apologies, not sure how I missed that last part.
Henrika Karthis |
I've had pretty busy work days this week and I've been performing in shows last night and tonight, so I will have to wait to do Henrika's post when I get home in a few hours, but of course you'll welcome to bot her in the meantime. I figure she'll attack something, but I haven't had the time to look at the map and figure out what that entails.
Liraela the Inkweaver |
Liraela, update your AC to 19 in the header when you get a chance.
I need to find a better material armor, I could have 21 if it wasn't for my max Dex bonus. Might poke around after this 'tea party' and see what I can find.
Henrika Karthis |
What kind of shows are you performing?
I’m playing The Amazing Karnak in a production of Ride The Cyclone. :)
GM Peachbottom |
Navia's' Talon vs yellow (power attack): 1d20 + 6 - 1 - 2d6d1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 1 - (3, 3, 5, 6, 3, 1, 2) + 6 = -9
Navia's' Talon vs yellow (power attack): 1d20 + 6 - 1 - 2d6d1d6 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 1 - (5, 4, 4, 1, 1) + 6 = 15
Navia's' Bite vs yellow (power attack): 1d20 + 6 - 1 - 2d6d2d6 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 1 - (4, 4, 5, 1, 2, 5, 4, 6) + 6 = -12
What happened here? =)

Very cool!

A player who was very tired mistyped a command string for attacks, copied it several times, and posted it without reviewing under the assumption that everything would be just fine >.>
An escape attempt is a reasonable replacement action.
Trevor Kastner |
GM Peachbottom, what steps should Trevor take to leave the bramble?
GM Peachbottom |
It is a Strength or Escape Artist check DC 16 to free yourself as a move action. Then you will want to try to move out of the area. The area of the brambles is difficult terrain, so each space is 10 ft. of movement. If you leave the area, you are fine. If you stay in the area, you have to make another Reflex save DC 16 to avoid getting entangled again.
Henrika Karthis |
Henrika will activate her Mesmeric Mirror trick when the lovelorn attacks, but I have a question: you said it’s very small, so does that mean it has to enter Henrika’s square to attack her? Is that an attack of opportunity?
GM Peachbottom |
We saved the day again! Back home, now?
Yes, you can start to plan what you want to do next.
If you want to purchase anything on the way out, you can as well. I had rolled that Moost had 6 minor magic items available for sale this week if anyone needs anything.
When you get back, you can get another persona phase and build another upgrade to Stathys.
The campaign says you are supposed to get 8 persona phases in this part of the adventure. I'm not counting the two you got before the Tanager Jubilee, so you've taken 1 out of the 8 persona phases you should get so far. I honestly don't know how many in game weeks it will take you all to complete all the tasks leading up to retaking the Palace of Birdsong so I'll give you a persona phase each week at first and see how things go. If it seems to be too fast, I'll do every other week, or if we hit 8, I'll just stop doing them until you are supposed to get more. The persona thing is something that continues through the rest of the 4 books.
You can go back to the pump house that Trevor investigated or look into other rumors.
I may have another event for you when you get back. You'll just have to wait and see.

How's this work, exactly? Do we ask for something we want and then you see if it's available? How does special materials work? I'm looking to get +1 darkleaf leather lamellar for now, if it's available.

I wanted to utilize the settlement rules but also keep things relatively simple.
Each time you are at a town, I'll role how many magic items that town has available. For Moost, it had 1d6 minor items, and I rolled a 6 for this week so 6 items are available. Instead of random magic items, you can just pick whatever you want within the price limit with 100% availability.
Pathfinder doesn't really have an exact gold limit for minor, medium, or major items, so I set the limits myself as minor is anything up to 7,999 gp. Medium up to 29,999 gp. And major is anything 30,000 or above.
If the party purchases past the number of items available for the week, for example, if you wanted to purchase a 7th magic item this week. You can still pick whatever you want, but only up the the base value listed for the settlement, and for those items, roll a 75% chance of it being available. If it isn't, you have to wait until next week and try again.
For Moost, the base value is only 100 gp. It is very small. Stachys also only has a base value of 100 gp at the moment, but that will go up as Stachys improves.
A +1 darkleaf leather lamellar will cost you 1,810 gp. This is under the 7,999 gp cap for minor items. So you can easily purchase it as one of the 6 items available this week. If you want things to be of a special material, I don't mind. I'm not putting any restriction on that.
If I need to be clearer, let me know. I'm not always great at explaining.
Henrika Karthis |
I feel like I should get Henrika more armors since she's always on the front lines, but I am not sure also how much we will have to spend. The best she can likely afford is an enchanted chain shirt or leather lamellar, but it doesn't have to be mithral or darkleaf because her Dexterity is terrible.
GM Peachbottom |
Afterward the trial, you will get another Persona Phase and can rebuild more of Stachys, so you can continue to think what you might want to do for that. Also, there is no time restriction for this part of the adventure, so even though you can only do one improvement to Stachys per week, there is nothing stopping you from taking a month off and doing 4 improvements (or however many you want to do) as long as you have the funds for it. Like I mentioned, this chapter is very sandbox-like. I'll help direct you but you can also make your own decisions on how things go.
but I am not sure also how much we will have to spend.
As you continue to follow up on rumors and do deeds around Meratt, you'll get more loot. I can't really say how much you'll have at any given point. But according to my treasure spreadsheet, it looks like the party will probably end up with approximately 200,000 gp in loot (100,000 gp if you sell it) from various sources by the end of Book 2.
If any of you have a wishlist of items, feel free to let me know some things you might want. I do have to adjust the treasure up a bit to account for 6 players rather than 4, so I can sprinkle a few extra treasures in here and there.

Icabhod wrote:Hmmmm. Cut off her hands and have her wear that as a necklace as she is sent down the road as a warning to others?Icabhod! Is that what a neutral-good character would do?
Reminds me of some of my old Pathfinder Society characters who's alignment I would describe as "Neutral for Legal Purposes."
GM Peachbottom |
It sounds like the group is not 100% decided. I'll wait a little longer to confirm a consensus.
Also, was anyone buying or selling? Normally, I'd sell at least the "trade goods" for you. But in this case, some of them might be sentimental items you'd want to keep. Let me know anything you want to sell.
Treasure list is here: Link. And also at the top of the page.
Liraela the Inkweaver |
Is it feasible for Lir to oversee the community service? I’d ideally like to have her and Lir work together on whatever improvement we choose next. Good chance to integrate herself some more.
I’ll look here the treasure and see what, if anything, is sentimental to her personally. I’m at least keeping the masquerade mask.
Liraela the Inkweaver |
I’m sure this is just a minor interaction, and not a super well fleshed out NPC, but Lir styles herself as sort of a problem solver for the ones who can’t solve problems for themselves in this country. So she’d like to at least see what’s going on with this lady, why she’s like that.
Henrika Karthis |
I went through the treasure list and marked things that I propose we sell for the common good. This includes things that are cool but that I don't think we're likely to actually use, like the senate aide badges, the noble's pillbox, and the sustaining spoon.
I'll also add a spoiler to Henrika's sheet with an item wishlist.
GM Peachbottom |
Ok, so it seems like you are good with checking out the pump house next. Fine with me. Since Liraela wants to supervise the community service, why don't you take two weeks and then go to the pump house?
So do the following two things:
1) You can pick two improvements you'd like to make to Stachys.
2) Take a Persona Phase Action: either improve a facet or do an operation.
The link for improvements is here: Link and at the top of the page.
You have 15,000 gp worth of supplies that you can spend. The costs are listed next to the improvements you can pick.
The persona phase stuff is also at the top of the page for reference.
Trevor Kastner |
Trevor wishes to work on building a Public House for Stachys. And we can wait on the pumping station until Liraela's two weeks of supervision are over.
Henrika Karthis |
I suggest we improve the Betony Estate and build a public house, though I'm okay if anyone feels strongly about doing something else instead.
Trevor Kastner |
I like both suggestions put forth by Henrika.
