FyrTheHunter |
" Can I get a detail of the fashion and style of the capitol! I wanna know what to make for the desguise! Also I wanna be in style. You know when I get to finally strut my self in public. Also I want everyone to look there best too!!!" Fyr says beaming ear to ear as she shows her sharp teerh. Fyr never really got to be fashionable in her past life. She never had the opportunity but now, now she can. If not her maybe Myriana or So'ren will end up being her model/Manikin
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
"My cover is a stranded planar traveler looking for a spellcaster able to send me back. My journey is likely to take me to the capital. If any of you can come up with an aligning story, I welcome you to join me."
Desseer shrugs again and continues, "My plan B is to get to the capital and set up or take over as an information broker. Knowledge is power, pretty much always."
"A displaced traveler from his own time. Happenstance to land at the same beacon as the planar traveler. Fates guide us. I think I will stick to my given name in this guise, Lord Sorbin. A warlord looking for a cause... it is close enough to be truth! If you would have me."
Desseer Arnalc |
"I don't completely trust you yet John," Desseer says bluntly. "But, with some contingencies, I could be open to that changing. So, sure, why not."
Desseer then turns his piercing golden eyes to Fyr with a bemused smile. "You know, if our previous world is any indication, we could play the exclusivity game with your silken creations and you could make some serious coin. Then, when it gets popular, we can make some cheap knock offs and dominate the market."
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
He shrugs at the comment, "That seems logical, I would be wary if you accepted me as I have not proven my worth yet. We could also just have me as your warder, though that would be a bit of a stretch." He rambles on thinking out loud. He seems a bit antsy, "If nothing else I need to relieve myself."
Desseer Arnalc |
Desseer pauses with a hand rubbing his chin. "Actually...if you can give me your seamstress nom de guerre, we can start early with this plan. Then, describe your ideal outfit for aasimar-me to wear that is not too ostentatious but is striking. And..please something that isn't too pink."
Once the outfit is described, Desseer will cast a minor image of himself wearing the described outfit. He will check with Fyr for any differences between his concept and hers. He will then cast another minor image with corrections, and go through the process again. I suspect two more times to iron out any discrepancies, for 4 total castings. After all of that, he will stroke his hand through his hair and change his disguise self ability to be 'wearing' the decided outfit.
FyrTheHunter |
Yes we can move on
Fyr will describe the Buccaneers coat from the Great Pirate era. A Doublet with elaborate embroidery, an under shirt with a collar that has a white lacw male chest ruff, ruffs on the wrists. A nice leather reinforced pair of pants. With calf high boots turned down. And to top it all off a nice waost sash to compliment the outfir. After discribing that she smiles.
" Ill work on thise when I get back. I still have your measurements from the last time I made clothing for the guild"
Smiling she looks at the two newcomers and like a kat with a mouse speaks." That reminds me, I get to measure you two as well!"
Galah'ad |
Galahad laughs at So'rens faux gruff impression while listening to what the others are discussing.
"Indeed, let's go the town then. I'd like to at least stay around Lady Tearsu or Myriana if possible, after all I have spells that can heal the undead, although..."
He looks at the witch and Myriana and chuckles
"I wouldn't want to get in anyone's way"
"Since I'm a divine caster I might as well go with the story that I'm a Pilgrim is some sort of divine mission looking for enlightment, that would leave things open enough. I can always come up with a temple or deity and say that I'm from a place very far away and they wouldn't know them"
Desseer Arnalc |
Agreed, let's move forward
With his new outfit, Desseer takes a look at the unclaimed loot and helps identify the remaining unidentified items. He grabs a couple and sets off for Drother trying to put a little distance between any other group so that they are not arriving all at the same time.
So'ren Al'gith |
"I'll take Breaking Dawn back to the hold with the rest of the gear, partly to store it, and partly to stagger our arrival in Drother. Does anyone have anything they want me to take back, or any business back home before we continue on to Drother and the capital?" So'ren asks.
FyrTheHunter |
"Ill head back. I have a muse ans I need to pursue it. So'ren can help. I need a model!" Fyr says as she gets up ans stretches. As she does she looks at rhe others and heads off to the field and will look to the others.
" I may need to get a few more models?" se pondered as she began to weave a net.
Myriana |
"Interesting..," Desseer responds to Iris's information. "Seventh tier..."
After a few moments of musing he comes back to. "Myriana, can you look after us if we sleep? It would appear that this body does get tired."
Myriana nodded and said, "Yes, I can watch over those who need to rest nya. While you do that I can work on identifying the items nya." As she began to look through the items she spotted the rod of ice and said, "That's interesting nya, does anyone else want it?"
ID amulet: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
Were there other items to ID?
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
He waits for Desseer, Fyr, and Soren leave, waving to Soren as she flies Breaking Dawn to the South. He nods to Iris, Myriana, Galahad and shadow jaunts away. You can see him running North West.
Galah'ad |
I'll try and go with Myriana and the witch if they're going to Drother too. Also, I think Morgrave took the rod of ice for himself. Unless the GM wants to retcon that.
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
Either way works for me Desseer... it seemed that you didn't trust me, espcially just with the two of us. You could invite him to follow as you leave first!
Morgrave does have the rod of ice but at mention of it he offers it to Myrianna.
GM Wolf |
It appears that you break into three groups. Two headed to Drother and the last back to your HQ.
The flight is easily passed, it just takes time, something like 9 days.
I think Desseer and the other group may continue to post in the gameplay thread as the group that went south will be posting in spoilers.
Drother seems to be a rather large port town. There is a lot of trade along all of the streets. You might notice a few estates with lots of farms around them on the way there.
Desseer Arnalc |
Just so that we can move forward, I will say that Desseer does invite John as he leaves first with a "You comin'?"
Fancy dressed, aasimar-Desseer confidently strolls into town. Though he does avoid any physical contact with anyone else, he does give many friendly smiles and a shares a "good morning" or two.
As he carouses town, he also attempts to find his way toward any officials of Drother via town layout indicators as well as asking, "Excuse me, if I were looking for an official, where would I look?"
Diplomacy (GatherInformation): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (11) + 22 = 33
GM Wolf |
Desseer you quickly learn that the officials can be found all around town doing their jobs. Though if you are looking for the browns which is what most look for in regards to knowledge, they direct you to the townhall which doubles as a school with a small library.
Upon getting to the town hall, you meet a brown official in his tan looking robes with the brown official Veil tabard. "Greetings and welcome to the town hall of Drother, any of the brothers and sisters can help you within. Though if you need directions I am here for your ease!" You likely hear him say is several times before you get across the town square and up the stairs.
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
At the mention from Desseer he jogs for a moment to catch up. "I didn't know if you had made a decision. So what roles do you want us to play, just so we are on the same page."
Along the road he picks up all sorts of plants to smell them especially flowers. When he finds some herbs that could be beneficial he harvests a bit and stores it in his bag.
heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
k nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
His kimono flaps in the wind as his leather boots seem comfortable enough. He does state, "I need to get some better gear."
Desseer Arnalc |
(Before making it to Drother)
"The plan is to be kind so we can extract the information on the most powerful magicians and where they are. The magic to send a planar being back to their home plane is at least 4th tier."
(In Drother)
Desseer gives a shallow bow to the brown robed man. "Thank you," he says politely. "I am looking for someone who can help me get back home. Unfortunately it requires some powerful magics. Where might I find one who is able?"
So'ren Al'gith |
"The f*%@?" So'ren curses, looking for faces she recognizes among the crowds, and if she doesn't see them, she rushes Breaking Dawn forward to begin a slaughtering spree.
Galah'ad |
Myriana seems to be busy so I'll go ahead
Galahad uses his racial ability to change his appearance into that of an Aasimar much similar to his usual appearance, pale grey hair, yellow eyes and marble white skin, except without the usual traits that made quite clear he wasn't alive, like the transluscent bits of skin and the black sclera. He his usual ghostly armor looked like a set of robes under the illusion, not as fancy as the clothes Desseer made for himself, but something more aimed at mobility, what one would expect a traveler to wear.
"What you think? Pretty sharp if I do say so." - He asks Serisha and Myriana with a laugh
"Do any of you have any plans? A place you wish to go, I know that looking into the clerics, wizards, paladins and other casters in this town is definitely on my list.
Galah'ad |
Galahad stops for a moment to ask Myriana
"Forgive if I'm wrong Myriana, but your diguised appearance still does not cast shadows nor shows up on mirrors, correct? If not we should likely be extra careful, good alligned divine casters or seasoned adventurers might notice those things."
Myriana |
Yeah, I was planning on going to Drother.
Before making it to Drother
Myriana shifted her form to that of a human version of herself and pulled her cloak hood up over her head. She considered how they could handle the issues her unique tells caused and said, "If it is dark we will not have to worry much about the lack of shadow nya. But the lack of reflection is harder nya." She thought it through and then looked to everyone, "Boes anyone have an umbrella, a big one nya? That might be able to help hide the shadow, and my protective spell, from such easy sight nya."
Those are good questions. The mirrors are a challenge, other than just avoiding them as much as possible. With the shadow is it that my body casts no shadow but my clothing/equipment does or does the gear not show a shadow either? If I were to hold an umbrella, like a large golf one, would that cast a shadow I could use to hide my lack of shadow?
GM Wolf |
The brown robed man points to the tallest building in town, a spire. He then relays, "The Mage's tower would be your best bet. On the ground floor there is a large academy. Find one of my brothers or sisters there and they should be able to direct you further. Is there anything else I could help you with?"
Serisha Le Tearsu |
"What you think? Pretty sharp if I do say so." - He asks Serisha and Myriana with a laugh
"Do any of you have any plans? A place you wish to go, I know that looking into the clerics, wizards, paladins and other casters in this town is definitely on my list.
She chides, "Yes but perhaps a bit too flashy at least for my likes." She then assumes the simple form of a downtrodden commoner woman in a simple robe.
As you travel She is amazed by what she sees almost fascinated.
To his other question she offers, "A library would be nice. Though I have low hopes of any information about my Sect will be there but I should try."
You do not emit a shadow but any equipment worn would.
Inennarra |
The massive elemental that is normally the drawbridge seems to be to the North laying down along the edge of the moat.
Spouts of magma periodically emit from the castle and the fire spreads.
The few who can fly keep transporting minions to the plains.
As land Inennarra rushes forward and quickly spouts, "The magma Elementals have gone berserk. They have destroyed over a quarter of the base. We have been evacuating those who can't or shouldn't fight. The magma elementals seem to be multiplying. As the drawbridge appears to be sick and went to rest. It is strange that so many know fear, as sickness spreads among the ranks."
FyrTheHunter |
"A sickness. Like coughing and whatnot? Or something else. As for the Magma Elementals. Not sure how we can attack them. I am more gamiliar with PvP. I was skilled with that. A few major quests I was on, but I was mostly a cleaner and crafter!" Fyr admits as she looks to Soren hoping she was more skilled in these monsters then she.
Galah'ad |

Galahad notices the fascination of Serisha towards the city, after all he was pretty much feeling the same. The city looked like something straight out of a fantasy book, the direct opposite of the technologically advanced world that he had come from. However, Serisha was from this world, so she likely wasn't impressed in the same way he was.
"I assume things have changed quite a bit over the years?" - He asks, assuming that the difference in time period was the reason for her shock.
As she suggest Galahad nods
"Ah, yes, a library! If we're not sure where to look for information there might be a good start"
He answered, also curious to see how a library from this world would look like.
Did they invent the printing press as well or are the books created by magic somehow? Oh, this is so interesting - He thought to himself
Desseer Arnalc |
"Thank you," Desseer responds politely. "That is all."
On the way to the tower, Desseer looks at the buildings as they pass. "Sorbin, I need you to be prepared. We might find ourselves amidst enemies."
Myriana |
Myriana stayed rather quiet once they reached Drother and was careful to keep her hood up and her arms within her cloak. She knew that she would be able to hide her lack of shadow by clever use of her clothes but it would be trickier with reflective surfaces. Fortunately for now the later was not an issue. She followed along with Gala'had and Serisha keeping Irias close beside her to help further shield her from any glass or other reflective surfaces.
The mention of a library did catch her attention and if Myriana had not been shifted her cloak would have been twitching from her tail lashing and ears perking up. As it was there was little physical reaction to the words but she did say, "That could be good, nya... ," though she realized a problem and added, "if we can even read them nya."
Galah'ad |
Galahad looks at Desseer and Morgrave at the same place and tries to suppress a laugh, not wanting to blow their cover.
"Uhum, a change of hundreds of years definitely must have created a great difference in the avaialable technologies, I believe all of us will have to try and grasp what's possible in this world now. So your country is near a desert? Fascinating."
He had never seen a desert before outside of games or books, some people said that they were one of the few biomes who had remained mostly untouched by the rampant pollution of their world. With the exception of some extravagant cities that had been built in some deserts. He wondered if Serisha's country was something like them. A fantasy Dubai maybe? Perhaps even Las Vegas?
Galahad held back a laugh imagining how a fantasy Las Vegas would look like.
"Ah!" - He exclaims in surprise at Myriana's remark, pulling himself from his inner musings
"That is true! We can understand what people are saying so I hadn't even considered that it might not apply to written language..." - He chastised himself
"Since you mentioned, So'ren and I forgot to report this occurrence, but in Morgrave's old HQ there was an inscription in infernal, something about a God of Death named Emroy, I could understand it since it used to be a language in YGGDRASIL, but I guess I forgot to consider that the common written language of this world could be unintelligible to us"
He then glances hopefully at Serisha
"If that happens then we'll be relying on you, Lady Tearsu. Untill we can... literate ourselves."
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
"Thank you," Desseer responds politely. "That is all."
On the way to the tower, Desseer looks at the buildings as they pass. "Sorbin, I need you to be prepared. We might find ourselves amidst enemies."
He chuckles at the words, he quickly relays, "I am always ready especially when it comes to mages. I doubt any of them will know what I am. My blade is sharp and thirsty, just give the order."
GM Wolf |
Many of the buildings are simple one or two story verandas that circle a simple courtyard. Most are apartments, inns, taverns, or shop fronts.
Getting to the tower you see it is set atop a slab of granite 50 to 60 feet high and just as thick. Beside the granite boulder you see the school. You do see a platform next to the granite boulder with guards to its sides. Also in the granite you can see archways that likely could be activated with the right study.
Desseer Arnalc |
Desseer gives John a serious nod. He stops walking for a moment and takes a deep breath. On the exhale, his facial expression changes to that of simple cheer. He raises a hand and begins to walk toward the tower once more.
"Ho there!" he yells as he approaches, "One of the brown robes directed me to you fellas! Well, at least I think he did." Desseer begins gesticulating broadly. "You see, I am looking for a spellcaster of some power to help me get home."
Bluff: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (16) + 29 = 45 (to disguise my casting)
(Cast detect thoughts, spending 2 ppp to increase the DC by 1 for a Will DC of 25)
(In addition, before the spell, Desseer will hypnotic stare on one of them to impart a -2 to Will saves)
GM Wolf |
"Yes only one at a time please," The guard states as he sees the swordsman to take a step forward.
Desseer feels the platform lift and take him up to the hall of the mages. Many Brown mages move about delivering messages, scrolls, and having discussions with others. Soon enough John gets lifted up as well.
So'ren Al'gith |
"Well... f$*$. Magma elementals will be tough, for sure. Most of my spells are fire-based and elementals don't bleed." So'ren says, a bit exasperated.
She asks "Are Troas and Kellek fighting them? Their cold and water powers are probably our best bet."
Desseer Arnalc |
Desseer looks around the bustling hall with a sense of awe. For some reason, it was in this moment that it clicked in his mind that he was really, wholly in this new Yggdrasil. The sheer fantastical happenings he'd had up until this point and the dire nature of feeling responsible for his fellow players allowed him to put off thinking about this new reality he found himself in. And it shook him to the core..
Why was he here?..
Why was he in a place surrounded by people who might try to kill him with only a simple disguise spell?..
His mind raced, which it was even better at doing now. Desseer stood frozen seemingly unable to break free from his own mind.
Warlord John Morgrave Sorbin |
He walks up beside Desseer and bumps him lightly with his shoulder.
Inennarra |
Quick question: who would be in charge after Desseer? My guess would be So'ren but I could be wrong.
She would know but I don't think we have decided.
To the subject matter of Troas and Kellek, she states, "Troas and Kellek are in some of the main battles but they have been forced back for healing and thus losing precious space. They can only do so much."
Olo the water spirit |
Myriana |
Myriana looked at the platform as Deseer, and then John, road it up and considered if it was safe for her to do so as well. She hesitated and then decided that it might be best if she looked around town instead for a while. After a moment or two she looked to see what the others would do, and half thought she might best stay out here where she could get help if something happened. It had happened before after all. Besides she kind of wanted to look around town more.
Not sure if she will go up or not just yet.
Desseer Arnalc |
At the jostling from John, Desseer startles back to the hall. "Oh..uhh..," he stumbles as he wrangles his mind in order.
"One of the guards down there made reference to a 'great mage'," he begins again informatively. Desseer then muses, "What are the chances that 'great mage' is here. I'm thinking probably the capital."
"Well, only one way to find out." With that, Desseer strolls through the hall, subtly avoiding any physical contact. He observes the hall and its occupants for any clues as to a hierarchy, or important offices.
