Speaking of which, does a character know what type of knowledge they are using when using a Recall check? I mean is it metagame knowledge to know I had to recall on my Religion knowledge to identify a creature versus my Nature knowlege?

He glances at Franzine, acknowledging the possibility they may be too late. It's part of his mission, though. She's coming back, dead or alive. Hopefully alive.

"Glurorchaes, thanks for helping out." Who is this guy? "It may not be best to stick around here, though. Unless you like fighting undead all day. Heroes gotta take a break. How about you come back with us? Plenty of sun and no undead trying to rip your flesh apart. Pretty sweet if you ask me."

It's a good question. I'm not 100% sure of the correct answer (though if someone else is please speak up in the Discussion tab): I usually tend to rule it is not clear and known neccessarily to the PCs (hence asking for all the relevent skill mods up front). However, especially at higher levels if an unexpected RK skill would really unintentionally screw over a player (such as a super-undead-looking thing prompting a Master in Religion to RK, but its actually an occult Ooze in disguise and they have no Occultism for example) I may just treat that as a normal failure rather than a crit fail and tell them what skill might work instead (for another party member to perhaps try)

Janahar waves her hands back and forth in the negative towards Franzine. No, no, I'm fine. The undead here got some hits in but Glurorchaes helped me out to take them down. It was a bit...well a bit intense, but I'm okay. And alive.

As Glurorchaes says this Janahar is happily making her way to Tetabu where the dwarf and her are happy to reunite with each other.

Moonlight:
The structure of his organs is messed up. Even for an outsider the organs seem to have been manipulated and moves about in bizarre ways and there are signs of extensive damage (and repairs, then more damage over a long time) to his musculature and veins. You are able to notice a potentially exposed weak spot however.

Itka:
Glurorchaes is a Velstrac - a fiend who lives in the Netherworld seeking enlightenment and sensation through self-mutilation and pain think Hellraiser and its ilk In particular he appears to be an Ostiarius: a breed that tend to serve as emissaries between velstracs and other creatures. They have an unnerving and potentially Sickening gaze and aura.

portals, yes the figure replies to Manny while looking bemused at Moonlight as the ‘mummy’ speaks in a strange tongue several little needles stabbed between your world and this one lately. those other folk, so curious. I am certain they learned so much. He grins. Janahar here got lost over here thanks to one. and i imagine you followed a similar path

Upright, handsome posture, the sinews of his lithe and graceful frame wiry and hale, his crossbow now becomes visible amid the fading illusion of undeath as his living body replaces it in the wake of the "fire" the lifeless shell which he had temporarily worn - his fashionable Osirian clothing sparkling even in the dimmed light of this nether plane!

In common "Stand down before this Traitor of Soul, Janahar, for he is merely nothing more than an errand-runner for a Race of Fiends that would Torture your Soul for Eternity, ushering you unto Infinite Pain for their Distorted Pleasure!"

Then nodding to Anjo, Itka, Manny, Zenith, Franzine, he looses a bolt with one taunt more!

"Back to your Own Plane, Fiend! Your twisted insides mirror the Perversion of your Sallow Soul. Begone!" and with that, the divine orange light flares once more as Hammid aims for the distorted organs of his Velstrac (weak to silver or good, can regenerate!) foe!

Anjo recognized the creature's ilk but was unsure about its motives, having never encountered one before. For a fiend, it seemed...rather cordial if not a little unsettling. Anjo was trying to gauge the creature's intent when he was caught off-guard by Hammids sudden attack

As best you can sense, Glurorchaes' motives were certainly suspect and and the fiend likely had his own ulterior motives. However, his polite nature and offer of aid didn't seem to be a lie. Of course now that Moonlight's drawn on him, you get the vibe his willingness to merely chat is likely gone.

Organsight scan this round a success

Moonlight's shot hits Glurourchaes square in the abdoman. The bolt digs deep into him as it embeds itself in its flesh, with blood poruring out from the new wound. Yet Glurourchaes lets out an unsettling sigh at the impact.

these are the allies you work with and were waiting for Janahar? i can understand how you became alone, and i pity them. He moves towards the masked cleric and you see the torn skin around the bolt already beginning to scar over. As he does, a faint sound starts to fill the room. The sounds seem to be coming from the various wounds old and new that cover Glurorchaes' body, and each quiet whisper speaks of strange truths and revelations that linger in your mind.

This building will one day crumble. This world will one day collapse. The ultimately inevitability is the void.
The void has no light to see, no air to hear, no being to smell or taste. The only sense that cannot be taken from you is feeling, and the sharpest feeling is pain.
Pain is proof you are alive, proof you are exist, proof there is a 'you' that can feel it and that is seperate from the endless other.

Everyone within 30 feet of Glurourchaes please make a DC 25 Will save (divine, enchantment, mental, visual)) or be Sickened 1

He continues his stride up to Moonlight. you see Janahar your friendly follypops, in their paranoia, can only think to respond to something that unsettles them by inflicting pain upon it. a mortal response. but like a child they only understand half of the truth of the thing. Glurourchaes raises one arm back to deliver a swipe right back at the cleric.

Glorourchases looks down at Moonlight with a fiendish smile. He stares deeply at the Ngian as he intones sharply do you see? do you now understand the path to true freedom?

If you fail the above Moonlight:
You are sickened 1. If however you are already sickened from the earlier save then as you stare back at the velstrac you are struck by his words and form. He is hurt, but also glorious. his pain is empowering him...
You are instead also Fascinated for 1 round, and cannot take any hostile actions against Glurourchaes for the moment

I'm going to assume your spell doesn't call themselves an Illusory Creature out loud :)

As even more creatures appear in the room and Zenith advances forwards, Glurourchaes looks pained by your words, not your attacks: all three strikes miss and Zenith fails to tumble about him

pathetic? predictable? i know your people spread such dreadful rumors about us but you leaped to assault me. your rigid minds seem incapable of seeing yourselves as anything but saviors, yet would your friend still be alive to reunite with you had she not benefited from my aid?

Anjo's three shots go wide as the archer feels unwell. But with a scream of frustration and adrenaline Franzine's blade cuts deep into Glurourchaes. The figure lets out a combination of a grunt and a sigh as a large chunk of his flesh is cut away. you are aggressive and strong. standing by your friends knee-jerk response i see. i understand. but friendship is not just the province of you delightful mortals.

The faintest sound below her is the only alert Franzine is given before she feels a pinching pressure on her leg. Turning, she sees...something appear at her feet. Looking like a fresh and bloody organ with spidery legs growing out from it, the macbre tiny being is trying to bite the champion. Luckily her leg greaves hold stong, as does her armor against a subsequent 'thwap' of a sickly tendril smacking at her.

With the cleric retreating, Glurourchaes turns and lashes out at Franzine, but she is able to whip her shield up to easily deflect it. The smile on the figure's face cracks a bit as he whispers occult words in a Shadowtongue a spell of some sort, not a sentence (since I know some of you actually speak that language and a semi-solid shimmer appears around him.

While the 'lillend's arrow delivers a perfect shot on the organ-spider, the strange thing seeems unfazed and unharmed by the strike!

And as Manny and Itka both feel a bit off from the whispered words echoing in their head, Itka's feel more personally targetted. as her attack fails to land on Glurourchaes.

Yes: once acquired the Sickened 1 condition remains until removed (such as by spending an action to try and retch, or through other methods)

Franzine delivers a fierce slice at the thing beneath her before stepping to the larger in size at least threat. Distracted by Zenith (who is able to get a good grip on Glurourchaes - panache acheived! Franzine's blade is just able to slip through his guard. A flash as the blow land seems to soften the impact, but Glurourchaes is starting to be bleeding profusely.

Anjo's two shots also slip past his target's guard. Glurourchaes drops!

But he's no longer alone. That strange spider-thing skitters over to Moonlight and chomps down on the cleric. As he starts bleeding again Moonlight feels a rising sense of listlessness and ennui in his mind.

Whatever he was going to say is cut short, as another two arrows pinion him. Unlike before, his wounds fail to knit together. Glurourchaes is finally dead.
