Interesting but I'll stick with the rogue.
Is the alternative armour anything like the stuff from companion edition BECMI?
Still finalising the profile with equipment etc but should be good to go.
It's like the armor from AD&D like studded leather is AC 13. Scale mail etc.. Full Plate.
I’m seeing a lot of rules being mentioned by different characters and have no idea
if I’m supposed to find Starting gold or equipment in the basic rules. I’m using the OSE SRD linked in first post
and the Basic Rules PDF I linked. Is that correct? Lachlann seems to be rolling for random equipment,
and Raff has rolled 3d6 for starting gold - are they bard and thief specific or should I be rolling 3d6 for starting gold
and 2d6 for random equipment?I have no access to Carcass Crawler armor rules, but Longhorn Goatfolk are limited to Leather armor until 3rd level.
Also: moonsigns?
Sorry, Dolenwood has random tables for picking a weapon and armor. I'm giving you the option of picking a suit of armor and ONE weapon AND rolling
3d6 for starting gold and 2 d12 for random equipment. Or rolling for starting gold per the OSE standard rules from the SRD.Ok, I think I will go as a human friar. Looking over the books,
do I get the +1 Cha and +1 Con as per the OSE Advanced Fantasy - Genre Rules? If so, then my stats will look like this:
No. I don't expect the game to go to higher levels so I'll leave the level caps (like AD&D) for demihumans in place.
Unless everyone agrees that's no level caps?

Ok, so spear and leather armor, plus:
Starting Gold: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12 12 gp
Random equipment: 2d12 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7: A crowbar, a hammer and 12 iron spikes.
d12 Item (×2)
1 Bedroll
2 Chalk (10 sticks)
3 Crowbar
4 Hammer (small) and 12 iron spikes
5 Ink, quill, and 5 sheets of paper
6 Lantern and 3 flasks of oil
7 Pole (10’ long, wooden)
8 Rope (50’)
9 Rope (50’) and grappling hook
10 Shovel
11 Sledgehammer
12 Small sack

I'll complete the character later today. What price for studded leather armour?
25gp? Sweet. I'll buy one set.
I'll update my character sheet with the following for humans.
+1 CHA, +1 CON.Blessed: When rolling hit points (including at 1st level), the player of a human PC may roll twice and take the best result.
Decisiveness: When an initiative roll is tied, humans act first, as if they had won initiative. If using the optional rule for individual initiative (see Combat, p234), humans get a bonus of +1 to initiative rolls.
Leadership: All of a human’s retainers and mercenaries gain a +1 bonus to loyalty and morale.
I'll swap my stats around a little.
So it will be 14 st, 14 dx, 14 Cn, 9 In and Ws and move that 12 to Cha which becomes 13.
Makes my rogue a bit more gift of the gab, charming rogue etc type.

Bought this lot
Studded Leather 25
Thieves Tools 25
Grappling Hook 25
Rope 50' 1
Backpack 5
7 days standard rations 5
Flint and steel 3
6 torches 1
Water skin 1
Sword 10
2 x Dagger 6
Shortbow 25
20 arrows 5
=137
33 gold remaining. I'll probably blow 20gp on "Fancy Clothes" (he decided to spoil himself after his last job) and start with 13 gp.
Have a look over the character profile and tell me if I am missing something or have any mistakes. It's a repurposed old 5e profile so if there's an error, it's a re-editing one.

@Raff:
I'm giving you the option of picking a suit of armor and ONE weapon AND rolling
3d6 for starting gold and 2 d12 for random equipment.
So I don’t think you have to buy the studded leather and one weapon, plus you get a roll on the random equipment table.
********************************************************
For Hex:
Starting gear:
Spear
Leather Armor
Random Equipment:
Crowbar
Hammer; 12 iron spikes
Starting gold: 120 gp.
Sword 10 gp
Dagger 6 gp
Longbow 40 gp
20 arrows 5 gp
Shield 10 gp
Rope 50' 1 gp
Backpack 5 gp
1 weeks rations (standard) 5 gp
Tinderbox; flint and steel 3 gp
6 torches 1 gp
Water skin 1 gp
Mirror 5 gp
5 silver tipped arrows 25 gp
3 gp left.

I guess that's Int
1714, Dex13, then all the others are similar (Str12, Con12, Wis11, Cha10).How do race/classes combos work? We do a 'multiclass' of both?
I am using only the Basic Rules, so not sure if I should be looking into more rules, but in any case let us get this show on the road:
----------
Medraut, the Apprentice
Alignment: Neutral
AC 11
Str12-2=10
Dex13 (+1)
Con12
Int14+2=16 (+2) [+10% to XP!]
Wis11-2=9
Cha10
Class: Magic-User
HP: 1d4 ⇒ 1 (of course :D)
HP (if we are using the re-rolling Optional Rule): 1d4 ⇒ 3
Attack Values: THAC0 19
Saving Throws: D13 W14 P13 B16 S15
Spells: 1x Lvl1
What is my Spell?: 1d12 ⇒ 9 Read Magic! MUAHAHAHAH!
Languages: Neutral and Common + 2 bonus
Bonus Languages: 3d20 ⇒ (13, 20, 4) = 37 = Kobold and Dwarvish
Gold: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5) = 13x10 = 130 gold
Question about equipment: Can I hire retainers? :D
Otherwise I am thinking 2xDagger, Backpack, Rope, 4x small sack, 2x large sack, oil flask, Rations for 7 days, 4x Waterskins. Total spent = 6+5+1+4+4+2+5+4=31 gold
----------
Good to go?! :D

@GM Qstor here is what you have so far:
Complete
Brother Teodora (Daniel Stewart) Human Friar
Hex Promgarde (Oceanshieldwolf) Longhorn Goatfolk
Lachlann (Smiles-a-lot) Human Bard
Raff Evanhand (Helaman) Human thiefHas concept
Albion the eye - mageRolled dice
The Last Ghost
I'll take all those folks.
DM said he allowed his system OR a 3d6x10 wealth roll.
So I'll have to spend that 170 normally. That said, that's a very good starting wealth roll.
It's actually from the Dolemenwood Pateron material from Gavin but I don't want to repose all the files.

I'll grab it...
3d6
3d6
3d6
3d6
3d64d6
a 16....and a 4. Good ol' dice rolls!
Still need melee?
yeah re roll the 4.
Note I'm using OSE Advanced Fantasy or most of the classes from Carcass Crawler so a Ranger, a Mage, Barbarian , Beast Master, Knight, or paladin (no Chaos Knight) are OK

Good to see you back
For my own part, increased work assessments, outside study assignments, health issues and just the wear and tear of the current tempo has all but finished me for on forum gaming (among other things, I haven't touched my miniatures/painting in months and my tabletop gaming is just once a month).
I AM NOT DROPPING OUT. I will just be logging around 3 times a week.
I just need to focus on work and study and above all, sleep, for a few weeks to re-evaluate and re-focus.
I you don't see a post in line with my regular tempo of game play? Please bot me or leave it another day or two. If you think replacing me is the safer bet for the health of the game, I totally understand.

Hi, I would like to join if possible. Have been wanting to try OSR for some time now, so this looks like a good opportunity.
Are you using race as class? I am thinking I would either play a Dwarf, or a cleric (or eventually a Dwarf Cleric if you are using that optional rule). Would that be a good fit?

Sorry for the delay.
I'm using class AND Race so a dwarf cleric is great!
Roll 3d6 most stats and 4d6 for your main stat.
