Chance the Fortunaut |
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Chance sends a telepathic signal to her allies. Brhmbrbl Boss says that they will be moving out before noon, and the buyers are coming. Let's get moving! When Lego indicates that there is no lock to bust on the trailer, Chance jams a folding lawn chair under the door knob to block the boss's door.
Athletics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
She then gives a thumbs up to the rest of the team. Do you think the mistuours will follow you, Voltaire? Quietly?
Hey, those beasts have got to be at least as stealthy as the rest of us...
DM Kludde |
Brhmbrbl boss is rattling the door, but not opening, shouting Hey! Open this thing up immediately or I'll have you!
The exclamation is followed by loud banging on the door, and lights turning on in other campers in the camp...

Chance notices the lights come on from around the park. It's show time! Ready your actions for when they come out!
Chance attunes to photon mode. As a move action, she forms up a butterfly-shaped shield on her wrist.
Then she readies to stellar rush the first bad guy that comes within charging distance.

Phelps moves forward and readies an action to cast Grease, DC 14 on the area right outside the door to the Boss's trailer if the door opens.

Brhmbrbl boss breaks open the trailer door. It turns out Brhmbrbl boss fits the description of Darvis Olem, the dirindi that was caught on camera.
Two more poachers emerge from trailers (Red and orange), while the third poacher seems more hesitant.
Chance glows a little brighter, but finds nobody in charging range so far.
The group positions, and Talgoth finds himself well-covered, but without line of sight.
Phelps mucks up the ground in front of the boss' trailer.

Talgoth steps away from the cages, not wanting to spook the mistuors. He's in the open now, and drawing a bead on the nearest trailer door with his hunting rifle, which is now trailing shadowy mist and moaning a dirge (ominous weapon fusion). "Come out of there with your hands up, and we'll let you live," he growls menacingly at the poacher inside (Yellow).

Chase almost slips on the grease as she goes after Brhmbrbl Boss, her weird luck just barely catching up with her and steadying the feet underneath her as she attacks the boss non-lethally. "Poaching rare animals and selling them to the highest bidder! Well, your luck has run out, buddy!"

Volitare has no line of sight to any of the poachers so she stays put, guarding the cage. If they see one coming, they will take a shot with their pulsecaster pistol.

-- I don't like this cage. It's so dark, and my sparkles don't work. the mistuors says to Voltaire. When are we getting out?
Talgoth initimidates the poachers in the trailer, who sounds a lot more lucid all of a sudden and answers Hey, I want no part in this, take it up with the boss. I can't even come out, you've locked me in. I'm just here for the pay, I don't want to get hurt. I'll stay out of this, I promise!
-- The mistuors asks to Voltaire Why are they shouting?
Chance goes for a sparkling attack, and at least bludgeons the poacher boss well.
-- Ooooh, she has sparkles as well the mistuor remarks to Volitaire, the mean one will like that, he sparkles a lot.
Lego wings the boss a bit too much, instead freezing the opened trailer door. BUDI fares a lot better, and downs the poacher boss!
-- That looks like it hurt him a bit, the mistuor says, do you think he is alright?
Two of the poacher helpers come out of their trailer, but they just flee into the forest when they see the boss fall.
Combat over!
Volitare Fugax |
Soon I hope. Need to find the keys. And yes, they are being extremely loud. I do not know why.
Now that combat is over, they scurry over to do just that, as well as stabilizing the poacher boss. Presumably he has the keys.

"Great job, BUDI! Good use of initiative." Lego trundles over to their drone and gives them a good pep talk while checking them over for any damage they might have taken. They lapse into a very strange set of sounds after a while. Sounds like someone talking to a puppy or a toddler, though the words aren't really understandable.

The journey back through the forest to Elkrius is without additional incident. The mistuors remain chatty and unalarmed by being put in cage It's cold in the forest the one says yes, and the man in the white dress was very nice to us
When the group arrives, the man in the white dress, Dr. Tevurda, is elated to see his creation back.
The captured Darvis, on the other hand, is less amused. You traitor! Cheater! You have destroyed my life! As the enraged dirindi says this, Dr. Tevurda comes up close and whispers something inaudible to Darvis, which only makes the dirindi more enraged. Security guards bring Darvis and any other captured poachers inside, placing them in repurposed animal holding cells until the authorities arrive.
Excellent! the doctor says upon being handed the mistuors, I shall now reacclimate the mistuors to their enclosure. He then leaves without so much as a wave goodbye or a thank-you.
When they are led away, the mistuor glances back and says Bye-bye, and thanks for the apples...
As the doctor leaves, Genayvin approaches the group and gives them each a credstick with their promised payment. I will handle the transfer of the poachers you've captured, and report them to the authorities. If you so care, you leave your contact information, and I will have the authorities contact you for your statement
After a hot meal in the cafeteria, the day ends and the facility closes. The group is escorted out by Otaia, who says as parting words Thanks, once again, for your help.
The group is never contacted by the authorities.
End of this exciting adventure about the importance or employee satisfaction

Let me know if you find any mistakes, particularly since this is the first time I'm using RPG chronicles.
Also, if somebody has a good workflow for inserting JPG images into pdfs (on windows), I'd be happy to know.
Volitare Fugax |
Volitare waves back to the mistuors then says softly to Dr. Tevurda.
They like you. They say you are nice to them.
They then leave, intending to keep tabs on their welfare.
Chance the Fortunaut |
GM could you have RPG chronicles just produce my PDF and not edit it at all? I cannot read the file format you gave me.
Chance joins Volitaire at the cages, and asks, "Can you tell them that I liked meeting them?"
Talgoth |
"That involved a lot less blood than most of my past training," Talgoth comments, mostly to himself, after the group gets paid. "I could get used to this."
DM Kludde |
GM could you have RPG chronicles just produce my PDF and not edit it at all? I cannot read the file format you gave me.
Strange, that was straight from RPGC. I'll try again - a new version is uploaded now.
Phelps Amurun |
My chronicle looks good
Phelps looks around a little sheepishly. It doesn't seem like I did very much, but I guess some missions are like that. before he takes his pay and heads out.
Chance the Fortunaut |
Okay that works!
"Don't worry Phelps! I liked working with you!" Chance says. "And next time, the tables will be turned!"
DM Kludde |
Ysanto. Of all places in the multiverse you could end up, you ended up in Ysanto. Sure, the town has the Yaro river, which gives a bit of a pleasant uplift to the otherwise dense, hot humidity of Castrovel, but otherwise it's just a small town, dwarfed in comparison to the planet's sprawling techno-dominated cities.
TELEWRIGHT! YOU THINK IT, WE BUILD IT! The slogan of the construction companies is delivered in regular intervals in the lobby of the local construction company. Just earlier, a poster next to the entrance door, said 'enterprising freelancers wanted'.
After a short wait, a blue-haired korasha lashunta with a large smile greets the group: “Hi! I’m Nasaeoh, the site manager. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Thank you for responding to our work offer. We here at TeleWright are incredibly excited for an upcoming project, but need a little bit of outside help to get it off the ground.
See, we’re replacing the town’s old eye-sore of a hospital with a brand new, fully modernized laboratory! We’ve got all the materials and the plans sorted out to put the laboratory up posthaste. There’s just one tiny task we need to take care of first: a final inspection of Kivala Hospital must occur before demolition can begin.”
Nasaeoh looks nervous but hides it with another smile. “That’s where you come in! Simply take this checklist, do a walkthrough of the building interior, and return when all the tasks on your checklist are complete! It’s as simple as that!”
Talgoth |
For those who have met Talgoth before, the scrawny half-orc appears to be just as shabbily dressed as ever, with the only bits of color being the peacebonding cords securing the large knife at his hip and the battered rifle case across his back. He gives a friendly nod to those he's worked with in the past, and warily studies the others.
"Why call in offworlders?" Talgoth asks the lashunta. "That seems like a lot of expense to go to for a simple inspection. Has there been trouble at the site?"
Hackrat |
This time out, Talgoth is accompanied by a mechanical ysoki who looks even more disreputable and run-down than his employer is. The grumpy android keeps to the half-orc's shadow, muttering to himself about the humidity and his joints, until a look from Talgoth quells his complaints--for the moment, at least.
Research Rat |
GM, what continent is Ysanto on? I couldn't find it in Pact Worlds nor in the Starfinder Wiki. I'm a lore geek, and want to know if we're on Asana, Sovyrian, or the Colonies.
Research Rat gives Hackrat a high-five. "Hey, wanna hangout while they're doing their boring combat stuff? Also, how good does your franchise pay? My pay sucks!"
Chance the Fortunaut |
Chance bounces up to Talgoth and gives the half-orc an energetic hug. "Hey Talgoth, you signed up for this too? Awesome!"
Chance glances at the checklist, and then holds up one of her four arms. "Um... are you expecting trouble? Because I'm the last person you should have hired for a site inspection. Fortunately, Talgoth and I brought along hirelings who actually know this technical stuff."
Unless Culture or Mysticism are called for, I can say with all confidence that Chance will have NONE of the skills called for.
Chance considers if she ever heard of Telewright before. What is their reputation?
Culture: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
If I'm allowed to use Diplomacy, the result would be 2 higher.
Vaidra |
A short brenneri enters the room and nods a polite greeting. "I hope I am not too late for this mission." She's dressed in stiff, semi-formal clothing. "I'm not terribly familiar with ships, but I'm happy to learn."
Chance the Fortunaut |
"Hello Volitaire, you are blooming as usual! Simply radish-ing!" Chance beams at the Raxilite. Then Chance turns to Vaidra and offers a hand to shake. "Lots of us small folk on this mission, it seems."
Chance also quizzes Vaidra telepathically. What's this about ships? I just heard that we would be touring a hospital.
Talgoth |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Ah...hello, Chance," Talgoth replies, a bit nonplussed by the worlanisi's affectionate greeting. He awkwardly bends to pat her once or twice on the back before she bounds off to greet the others.
He's scrawny for a half-orc, but still like 6 ft tall. ;) more of a scarecrow than a linebacker.
Vaidra |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
At Chance's question, Vaidra frantically scrolls through messages on her datapad. "I could have sworn it said ship, not hospital, those words aren't terribly similar except for having an 'h' and an 'i' but that's no reason..." She falls silent and her shoulders slump. Snapping the case shut, she sighs. "Right. Hospital."
"What specifically should we be looking for? I don't know any more about hospitals than I do ships, but that doesn't seem to be an actual problem or you would have requested some knowhow. I hope."
Volitare Fugax |
Volitare actually blushes and looks away at Chance's complement.
And it is nice to see you again too. Maybe some more of your luck will rub off on us this time too.
They then get back to soaking up the heat and humidity and rather enjoying it.
Jortek Omek |
"Jortek." the vesk soldier introduces himself. Bragging around his doshko weapon that is hanging and humming on one of his shoulders while holding it before he can ask. "Anything I can hack and slice in that Hospital before it gets demolished?" he questions Nasaeoh. He sees the others he had just joined from another mission, but he seems not to care. All he cares about now is to earn a nice amount of credits.
DM Kludde |
GM, what continent is Ysanto on? I couldn't find it in Pact Worlds nor in the Starfinder Wiki. I'm a lore geek, and want to know if we're on Asana, Sovyrian, or the Colonies.
We're on Asana, close to Qabarat. I've now added a map of Castrovel in the slides with rough location.
We're seeking outside because none of the local employees want to go. See, there's a local superstition, and it's easier if you go. Some old stories about an accident at the hospital, but they're only to scare the children. Nothing to worry about!
But do make sure your personal records are up to date before you leave (see slides 5-6)
Chance manages to gather some information on Kivala hospital:
A popular local legend claims Kivala Hospital was shut down because the lead doctor was experimenting on patients. Some believe family members of the patients retaliated against the hospital staff, while others suggest a terrified patient went on a violent rampage. A few stories claim one doctor survived and awaits new patients to experiment upon.
As a result, local teenagers dare each other to enter the hospital. Many claim they’ve seen strange shadows and lights inside, leading to
tales the site is haunted.
Some more specific rumors state that the head doctor, Sikooli, and her son lived in the hospital and would occasionally visit town. Some locals believe Sikooli survived and is trying to revive her son.
Well, I'm sure that doesn't raise any more questions, but I'll give you the opportunity to ask, just in case...
Talgoth |
At this talk of hauntings, Talgoth starts to make an ancient orcish gesture to ward off evil, but then freezes, and glares at his own hand for a moment before stuffing it in a pocket. "Oh, yeah, this will be all sunshine and rainbows," he mutters.
Oh, right, I need to roll his paradox for the day:
Paradox: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Paradox: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Paradox: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Jortek Omek |
No questions from Jortek, so far.
Jortek takes the checklist and reads what is written on it.
Remove any animals and/or people from site.
Retrieve objects of value.
Stop any dangerous and/or unexplained occurrences.
"These are all of it?" he asks as if disappointed. "All pretty easy. Let's start moving." he says and motions the others to follow so they can finish the tasks and he may easily get the reward.
Chance the Fortunaut |
"I'm sure there'll be dangers enough. Well, let's see your haunted hospital. I'll spread my luck where I can."
DM Kludde |
Kivala hospital lies at a dark, dead end road at the edge of town. Even the plants seem to have been affected by decay, with the various bits of overgrowth displaying pale blotches of yellow and black. It's as if a faint sigh accompanies every steps closer to the hospital, and the rustling of dessicated leaves makes the noise almost sound like whispering.
There's a large double-door entry.
