1) I am based in Southeast Asia (UTC +8) so my posting hours may be unusual (especially for those in North America). I usually update at least one or twice per day. Just to keep the game moving, please post at least once every day and at least once during the weekend. If you disappear for more than 24 hours, especially during combat, I will simply place your character on infinite delay just to keep things moving.

2) Please label all three of your actions. Even if you think what you are doing is obvious.

3) If I am unavailable for longer than 24 hours, I will let you know in the Discussion Tab. Out of respect for your fellow players and myself, I ask that you do the same. Real life happens, and real life will always take priority over the game, but out of fairness for your fellow players, please let us know if you will be unavailable for an extended period of time.

Your adventure begins in the Grand Lodge of Absalom, where Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin has summoned you to receive their next assignment. A preliminary note has notified you about a task in Osirion, and you're likely prepared for the desert mission.

You're not quite in the same room as Ambrus. Call it either a waiting room or the lobby. Please introduce yourselves here (there won't be much time once the scenario officially starts)...

"Harrumph!" Zendel clears his throat disapprovingly as he strides into Anteroom 221 B, staring at the dusty leather furniture. There was a month's coating of dust and even a few spiderwebs. And what sort of impression would that leave, if all Pathfinders arrived to their missions with grubby seats on their pants? "Outrageous."

He spends a minute prestidigitating the furniture and the room until the whole place is sparkling, and smells of fresh lemons. "Much better." He himself is impeccably dressed in an Oprak dress military uniform, monocle, and turban.

Then his eyebrows raise as he sees an old friend coming through the door. "KaLang, delighted to see you old chap!" He grins, speaking the goblin tongue in a perfect Oprak accent. "What have you been doing with yourself since our last mission? I'm dying for a good gossip!"

A hobgoblin in armor comes striding into the room. Those familiar with his culture should not be surprised that he has a halberd and bow. Somewhat surprising is the symbol of Irori he wears on a chain about his neck. Following him is a human in simple robes decorated with Irori’s symbol.

Ah, Zendel! Good to see you.” He gives what looks like a practiced smile, careful not to show any teeth as he strides forth and extends his hand for a handshake.

Most recently? Someplace called Sedeq over to the East and then they sent me into that wasteland called the Gravelands! Of the two, Sedeq was much nicer.

Gesturing to the human, he says “I don’t know if you’ve met. This is Tandel. He has been giving me useful advice on self improvement.

The human gives a nod of his head in greeting.

A young female gnome with wavy aquamarine hair, amethyst eyes, and golden oak skin pokes her head in the door. "Hi! Is this Anteroom 221 B? Ooh! It smells lemony fresh! I was expecting dusty, with a boring name like that. I'm Salaish Talenduth. Nice to meet you! And you are...?" She extends her hand to KaLang, including Zendel with an open, friendly glance.

As she approaches, it's apparent that she doesn't really use the weapons strapped to her very often. The rapier is tucked into her belt in the back at an awkward angle, as is the sheath for her dagger. Her clothing is practical, though, especially her shoes. Some boots were made for walking; hers were made for *trekking*.

KaLang shakes her hand and says “I’m KaLang, a warrior from Oprak. Pleased to meet you.” The handshake is loose and gentle.

Zendel sweeps a bow to the new arrival, his eyes lighting up at the mention of lemony fresh smell to the room. Finally, someone who appreciates cleanliness! Then he steals another look at the cheerful bard. And a rather cute someone, at that.

"It's an honor, milady Sailash! I am Zendel and also from Oprak. Where are you from, if I may ask?"

Earlier...

A goblin in a draconic jump-suit stumbles into the Anteroom, beholding an odd (at least to him) looking gnome emoting and huffing at the furnture.

Arfsnarf scratches his head in confusion. Chairs here seem to fit any butts! What wrong with them?

He does not get an answer before the gnome's magical energies begin to clean the chairs and fluff up the cushions. Then the zesty spray of lemon scent begins.

The goblin begins sneezing uncontrollable. Aaaaah! Why make everything smell like fruit!

He finally settles down to introduce himself to the gnome. I'm Arfsnarf. We're not going to do that in every room this mission, right?

Others beginning to arrive distracts him. He introduces himself to each new entrant, and impatiently asks Is this everyone? I need to determine the groups fortunes once we are all assembled!

Zendel's dismay grows as he watches the uncontrollably sneezing goblin sneezing all over the furniture he just cleaned. "No! No! I just cleaned that!"

He hastily removes the lemon scent, and continues prestidigitating clean the furniture that Arfsnarf sneezes upon until the goblin's sniffles end. "Er... are you alright?"

Zendel offers his gloved hand for the goblin to shake. "I'm Zendel of Oprak. I'll avoid fruity scents in the future. Do you have any other sensitivities I need to know about?"

Zendel checks his watch. "According to summons I received, I believe that were awaiting at least two more Pathfinders before we head off to Osirion!" Zendel claps his hand in excitement. "Warm sands! Sphinxes! Desert caravans and fascinating ruins. I can't wait to go exploring there again!"

"Fortune-telling?" He raises a quizzical eyebrow. "Intriguing. What sort of fortune telling do you do? Harrow? Astrology? Palm reading?"

Salaish smiles warmly. "Oh, I'm from a small town just north of Novoboro, in the River Kingdoms. Blink and you'd miss it." She chuckles self-deprecatingly. "Say, it wasn't that long ago that I went on a couple of missions with Sergant Drussem, squad leader of Iolite Squad Alpha from Oprak. They really impressed me with their professionalism and capability."

She is a leader. We’ve updated our training based on some of the things her squad learned during that exercise.

"I am Mindartis Nightbreeze. And this is Mialee. A pleasure to be working with all of you."

Yes yes, I'm fine now. Arfsnarf mutters back, now that all the lemon is gone. Uh, I don't think I'm allergic to anything... should be fine... he's trailing off at this point.

He then lights up when Zendel and Salaish become interested in his fortune telling.

No! No cards! No palms! No stars!

He reaches into his pocket and reveals what looks like a wooden die, roughly the size of his small fist, with faded numbers.

My clacky rock!

He first approaches Zendel and rolls it at his feet...

Oooh! Seems like a lot of success for you on this mission. But, it's an odd number. So you reach your goals in unexpected ways! Probably not with lemon though... This is going to be a thing. Some spell cast later is going to give off that smell :P

He smiles a toothy grin and gives a thumbs up to the gnome before picking up the clacky rock and approaching Salaish.

A small canine humanoid clad in plate mail in a traveler's chair with a rose emblazoned on the spiked wheels enters the room. A large axe that glows faintly is strapped to the back of the chair. He cheerfully offers a paw to each of the other Pathfinders. "Hello, I'm Ra'uf. They usually send me in when they need muscle, but I am pretty good at getting Agents out of all types of bad situations."

He scrunches his nose a bit. "Did the last group have to bring back an ancient lemon or something? It's, uh, quite fragrant in here." His heritage gives him the Scent special sesne.

He casts his eyes to the table, where the goblin is rolling some kind of unfamiliar die. As a sailor's son, Ra'uf is used to games of chance, but all the dice he has seen were cubes, while this one looks more like an orb with the sides flattened. Pointing at it, he asks, "May I see that? Or at least see how it works?"

Ra'uf is level 4 now, and I will get his stats updated by Monday.

The door opens and a gnome with flaming red hair sticks his head into the room. His face lights up as he sees his old adventuring companion.

"Salaish! I thought I heard your voice! You waiting for V-C Valsin? Hope you all completed the security paperwork. I hear the new guy's a real charmer. Anyway, I just came by the Grand Lodge to renew my business permit!"

Salaish was part of Gnimish's first adventure long ago. I just couldn't resist having him stick his head in. :)

"I am a simple dog," he tells KaLang. "I usually just roll up to the nearest enemy and thwack them with this -" he pats his axe "- until they fall over. Though I do keep an eye out of any friends who might get pinned down."

The friendly and cheerful Zendel shakes the hands of his teammates. "We appear to be a rather diverse group. I look forward to doing this Osirion expedition with you!" Then he frowns and looks impatiently at his watch.

"I invited a prospective Pathfinder -- she's my cousin, and she's been on the wrong side of law a couple times -- to join us. But she's late."

"Um... You didn't tell me there would be so many people here." She retreats to a corner to hide behind one of the very clean couches in this waiting room.

Wow, so many gnomes! This mission is going to be interesting. Mindartis greets and introduces himself to the remaining Pathfinders. He tries to earn the trust of Bitty Blue by offering a simple handshake.

When you arrive, Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin stands over an imposing desk, studying a large map. Several notes and documents lie scattered about the desk, seemingly in an ordered disarray with several stacks of notes about ancient Osirion manuscripts in one pile, a set of sketches of Osiriani relics in one corner, and so forth. Ambrus looks up with a furrowed brow as he pushes another pile of notes aside. "Well, you’re finally here. Great! We had best hit the ground running with this next assignment. There’s a matter in Osirion, at the Sothis lodge, that requires great care on the Society’s end. You have all proven yourselves worthy agents and I thought this might be a good opportunity to put your skills to use. The first thing you should be aware of with this mission is that—"

KRAAKOOOM!

Suddenly, an enormous explosion rocks Skyreach tower, and Valsin’s eyes grow wide. He rushes around his desk and throws open his door before prompting, "All of you, come with me!" Outside, large flames dance from inside a shattered window on one of Skyreach’s higher levels. A loud, melodic tone rings out from Ambrus’s wayfinder. He takes a moment to open its cover and then puts it away. "Pathfinders, the Grand Lodge is under attack. I need you to head up to that room," Ambrus commands, pointing at the shattered, fiery window above, "and see what’s going on. I’ll try to assess things here on the ground floor and get everyone to safety. Be careful. If my suspicions are correct, this has something to do with the recent attacks on lodges across the Inner Sea. If you find any intruders, try to take some alive! I’m counting on you."

You arrive at a hallway between two flights of stairs and you run into four shadowy individuals trying to make their way down. Seeing you block their path, they draw weapons and attack.

KaLang charges forward and imbues the tip of his halberd with power. He thrusts it at Pink and connects. Pink appears to blanch at the jagged gash in his arm and appears to doubt his resolve in continuing the fight.

The creatures that attacked the Grand Lodge didn't expect stiff resistance, or such a strong security response. At a certain point, they become shaken. You have the opportunity to get them to surrender by making a Deception/Diplomacy/Intimidation check. Creatures that surrender are removed from initiative.
