Zaarah Katsu |
Zaarah is ready to defend her comrades and flies above the party.
“We don’t like this place!!“ she says with a disgusted look on her face.
GM Otha |
As you enter the path, you hear cackling ahead, soon seeing the source…three succubi looking creatures flying above, riding scaly, bird-like creatures with a vaguely horse-like head and vast, slime-encrusted wings, larger than an elephant…
”Look sisters, what have we here? Succulent flesh from Golarion come, saving us the trouble to bring them back ourselves…foolish mortals, prepare to die…or perhaps become our slaves for a while…”

See Invisibility is active.
Flint tries to overcome the twisted chaos of the Moonscar and act decisively.
"Take the succubi down first! They are the real threat here."
All my rolls here (including attacks as they are Wisdom based already include the -4 penalty.
K-Arcana,Heroism,Heightened Awareness, Planar Penalty: 1d20 + 20 + 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 20 + 2 + 2 - 4 = 31
Alright for the shantaks. I would like to know Damage Resistance and Special Attacks. You mentioned that they can travel freely in space. What exactly does that mean?
K-Planes,Heroism,Heightened Awareness,Chronicle bonus vs demons, Planar Penalty: 1d20 + 27 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 27 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 4 = 48
Ok, this is a crazy roll. I will take DR, Spell-Like-Abilities, Special Attacks, Resistance and what makes them different from your standard Succubus.
The dwarf focuses his fire on the succubi first as they are clearly the biggest threat to the party.
He activates his boots of speed and imbues his bow with Bane(Evil Outsider) and then gets to work firing on the pink succubus first and if pink drops then moving to purple and then to red.
Flint draws forth his cold iron arrows as he has done many times before when combating the demon horde. The dwarf suddenly appears (is now visible) as he begins his attack.
All attack rolls include Heroism,Hunter Blessing (Evil Outsider), Bane,Boots of Speed and -4 penalty from the plane. He always also uses Deadly Aim which is factored into these rolls. As Flint has Improved Precise Shot only total cover will impact his rolls.

Dammit! Disregard my previous post above. I screwed it up royally, accidentally writing over it. I thought the 1 hour time limit was up and thought I had hit reply to respond to Theodric’s and Marta’s attacks where I wouldn’t have to retype everything…but I obviously hit edit and then couldn’t make the change before the time limit expired…below is a summary of what happened in that post…
Zaarah: neither can see invisibility and the shantaks are slippery, aka harder to grapple
Flint struck the pink succubi 3 times, wounding it severely while his other two shots just missed…
Three Babau appeared behind you and attacked, hitting Zaarah and Agata each once while missing Marta…
The succubi all fired 3 arrows each from their hovering mounts; they targeted Flint, Alie, Theodric, and Marta , most multiple times, but only Theodric (once) and Alie (twice) were hit…
After firing, the purple and red flew back a little ways while pink left the field, cackling, ”I’ll report back to our mistress on these worthy fledglings, my sisters!”

While Alie casts haste and Zaarah heals herself, Flint fires a barrage of magical cold iron…the first three arrows strike purple, the last two go one in each eye, the succubi going limp in the saddle without a word and falling off her mount, landing with a resounding thud on the jungle floor. Two of his next four strike red, the last sticking just under her left collarbone, the arrow protruding out of her back, leaving her severely wounded…

Knowledge Arcana DC 20: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (1) + 34 = 35

How many foes are left? I only see two on the map (big Red and little Red) but on the combat tracker it looks like Pink, Red, and (one or more?) Shantak. Assuming that it is just the two visible on the map then she will target both of them. However if there are three (two succubi and one shantak) she will target the two succubi (assuming they are within 30' feet of each other)
Agata speedily flies forward, mutters a few quick incantations, and then wiggles her eyebrows unpleasantly at their enemies.
Move action: Overland flight (speed of 40') + Haste = 70' fly speed. I haven't moved Agata on the map due to uncertainty about which foes are where but if 70' movement is sufficient to get her within 30' of her foes then she will use her hex without extending the range. Alternatively, if she is still not within 30' after moving, then she will use Amplified Hex (and burn a level 1 spell - Remove Sickness) to increase the range of her Hex by 30' to 60'.
Swift action: cast Quickened Ill Omen on the hardier looking succubus
Caster Level check vs SR, elf: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
She has to roll twice and take the worse result on her next 4 d20 rolls
Standard action: Slumber Hex, using Split Hex to target two foes within 30' of each other. DC 27 Will save (or DC 28 if Amplified Hex was not needed to increase the range, in which case it will be used to increase the DC.
"Nighty night, ye foul nightmares! May yer dreams be accursed!"
Edit: re targeting, basically I would love to keep the Shantak from escaping to alert the Moon Queen, but on the other hand if there are two succubi that are still up and dangerous they would be Agata's first priority given that she is very squishy.

…promptly shantak and rider indeed go nighty night, slumping and falling to the ground with a thud…
Upon hitting the ground, they both awake…the succubus scowls at you and then blinks away…the frightened shantak then takes to the skies, fleeing the area…

"Welcome to the Moonscar everyone."
With those words Flint goes to examine the fallen succubus and her gear. The dwarf then rearranges his own equipment somewhat.
Marta - A.K.A. Telmar So-Melnop |
Stowing her spear she relaxes, though not a lot. "I do love a short, victorious, fight. Yes, let's see if there is any information on these guys."
Flint Firetoe |
@GM Otha - Any arrows? One can never have too many even if they are mundane. :-)
Flint does his best to identify the magical items despite the interference from the Moonscar and his limited training.

Zaarah Katsu |
Zaarah looks at the killed demons and shrugs.
After a moment she applies her wand again and again gets into a heated argument with her sword but it obviously happens only … in her head.
Alie Saechel |
Alie casts Detect Magic and looks at the items.

Spellcraft armor 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23
Spellcraft bow 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26
She then refreshes her False Life spell gaining 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 temporary hit points.
Flint Firetoe |
Flint lays claim to 17 mundane arrows. He is fairly confident that no one will object. The magical items he leaves to the others. The dwarf waits for the party to get their bearings and to heal up before leading them to the intersection of paths.
I placed a red arrow on the map as a reference.
"We should keep a good lookout for a proper place to rest. Out in the open will not do with these succubi flying around. The jungle is acceptable but if we can find shelter in a cave so much the better."
Theodric de LaMontagne |
"If you ever run out of arrows Flint, feel free to draw from my quiver... although some of the arrows there have been there since my childhood!" remarks Theodric, stunned at the amount of arrows that departed the dwarf's quiver.
Flint Firetoe |
Flint smiles at Theodric.
"I have never run out of arrows before but I will gladly take you up on your offer should the need arise."
'I have let us say more than a few arrows in my quiver."
Marta - A.K.A. Telmar So-Melnop |
Marta looks around in thought.
"Though I am all for a rest, let us pick a different spot. I don't want to make it too easy for them to find us. I can take first watch. I'm not all that tired."
GM Otha |
You press on, further up the path, for a little while…

When the fighting ceases, Agata shrieks for her maidservant, "Junior! JUNIOR! Lookit this blood what's staining me coiffyure! Snap to it! An' me friens too - this ain't no time fer lollygaggin..."
Poor Sweet Mawd Jr. emerges from the dense thicket of Agata's hair and hurriedly begins to wave an enchanted stick around her mistress' wounds.
Cannot fail the UMD DC 20 check. Uses 2 charges of Wand of Infernal Healing to restore Agata to full health. Sweet Mawd can also heal anyone else who needs it, using their wands or hers.
Once Sweet Mawd has finished putting the finishing touches on Agata's "makeup" the old crone turns her attention to the magic items they discovered.

As the group enters the zone of vines and strange trees, Agata sniffs the air admiringly. "Someone's roasting some honeyed ham fer us..." She lets out a long slow fart of appreciation, which, strangely, seems to complement the strange smell of the jungle.
Activating Aura of Purity, which negates gases, poisons, etc. in a 10' aura around her. She can use this up to 17 minutes/day, in 1 minute increments, so how long she'll keep it active now will depend on how close they appear to be to the source of the strange smell.
She also taps herself with her wand of Heightened Awareness, just for fun. She will dismiss for the bonus to initiative if we enter it within the next 10 minutes.
Theodric de LaMontagne |
Theodric gets closer to Agata, handing her his regular standard issue Grand Lodge stick. "Could you, my dear lady? you don't want this meat shield on a bum knee when his weight is multiplied eightfold! this, I swear..."
Wand of CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3) + 2 = 10
Assuming Agata agrees as per her kind offer in her last post
Theodric returns to his normal size and flexes his knee a few times, then hazards a squat or two. Upon doing this you can all hear the typical yet faint squeak of heavy armor. "Well, I'm sure you all know these fine clothes hide an actual full plate by now, after hearing a few arrows ping off it, but let's make that obvious to the demons, especially the proud BIG ones, so that they target me in their typical pride instead of some of you... in my current illusory appearance I look more suited for The Porthmos Club than a... lunar jungle..."
He pauses upon hearing himself say those words out loud, then pinches his hair grip. The illusion soon drop, revealing the true shining armor concealed thus far.

Gam, I should be down 7 hit points. I had 16 points from false life that went first, then 7 more. I’ve made a new casting of false life as well, just a FYI. Thanks!

Flint tries to push back the confusion caused by the Moonscar in his mind and examines the strange plant life.
31 Survival on a take 10
23 K-Nature on a take 10
Assuming no imminent threat is imposed by the local flora Flint will lead them forward a little bit more (Red Arrow on Map) before setting up camp for the night on the edge of the jungle.
Zaarah Katsu |
Zaarah uses her wand another time on herself and moves closer to the witch.
“Ahh lady! The air is much fresher near you!! We enjoy that … although you usually stink a little!!“ she says to Agata with a strange look on her face.

Aloe picks up the wand of enervation. ”I could use that wand if no one else has a strong desire for it, that’s a spell I’ve never been able to cast,” she says, discussing the enervation wand.
Flint Firetoe |
Flint nods.
"By all means, try it out for all a while to satisfy your own curiosity about the spell at the very least."
Enervation requires a ranged touch roll to hit and then has to bypass SR so it is not great (at this level) in a wand. Enervation as a spell cast can be quite ridiculously powerful with meta magic feats and/or Spell Perfection added into the mix especially for a high level fey sorcerer who is skilled at bypassing SR (like Alie). Still the wand can be fun to use and handy against some opponents. :)

Status:
Agata (-18)
Agata should be at full HP. She used two charges of infernal healing.
"Nasty spell, enervation. Though my angelic roots do mitigate the effects somewhat. I'd prefer you not point that thing at me," says Marta, who has NO SR, but at least a decent dodge ability. She has no interest in the magic items other than to avoid the wand.

Thanks, Marta, I missed that…fixed…
Flint looks over at the flora around this clearing…and, at the last moment, he barely recognizes the vines, just before they start to move…
These large tentacled, acid-spewing vines are viper vines…
”Viper vines! Three of ‘em!” Flint yells out as he points…

@GM Otha - As these plants are actually creatures Flint's Monster Lore ability will help his knowledge Nature check. His skill check should be 32 (instead of 23). He would be interested in Special Attacks and DR if possible.
Flint reacts quickly. He clicks his boots of speed together and he banes his bow against the viper vines before he attacks. He begins his assault with bright blue and then will move on to burnt orange if blue drops.
Flint has the Point Blank Master feat so he does not provoke when firing a bow when threatened. He also has the Clustered Shots Feat so DR should only be applied once per creature for all of his attacks instead of once per arrow. The planar penalty has been already applied to all of his attack rolls.
All attacks are against flat-footed AC.

Marta steps up to interpose herself between the vines and Alie. Activating a judgment and a shield spell she makes herself tougher to hit, and prepares for the worst. She figures the others will probably dish out the damage and her job is just to survive, for now.

Flint: no DR, special attacks = captivating cloud, constrict. No worries, I have a Ranger/Zen Archer multi-class and am familiar with PB Master, it’s awesome :)
Flint’s arrows are all accurate and they need to be…it takes all six arrows sinking deeply into the blue vine, a dark bluish blood oozing out of it, for it to curl up and die…
Marta prepares her defenses as she preps for the onslaught, bravely stepping in front of Alie to draw the vine’s attacks…
A nearly transparent cloud of pollen swiftly shoots forth from the purple vine, covering the Pathfinders and beyond…
The yellow boundary shows the pollen spread; need a DC24 will save for everyone this round and then every round you are in the cloud. If you fail the check, read the spoiler below…
…and then the vines strike in retribution at their nearest foes…
While the blue vine targets Marta, the orange vine moves 5’ and targets Theodric…

@Marta - You already know it is a plant for your bane ability as Flint has already identified the viper vines for the party.
