Oh god, I was busy for most of the day and came back to so much. I love you guys.

Got a friend in town to help me with Horrible Life Events (tm) and may not be able to post until later - feel free to continue to socialize and I'll get the next thing this evening has in store for y'all going when I can.

Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10
If he is flat-footed, that may be a critical. If it is.
If Critical: 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 16

homeboy is gonna be asleep for a week

If I am reading that right, the math on the critical is a bit off.

Doubling damage for a critical hit also doubles the static damage bonuses such as the strength bonus.

That may be a change from PF1.

Not that it really matters in this case - an extra 4 points of damage just means that he will be asleep for a week and a half instead.

It's actually just shy of a critical hit (by one!), but the damage on the regular hit is enough to still knock homeboy out for a week.

I've got the damage doubling stuff saved for the future, though! You're the best, Finoan.

Just wanting to give Baradim some time to interact before moving on to the next thing, so feel free to socialize to your heart's content. No rush, Baradim.

Finoan barely manages to stop hinself from making a comment about how this will also be effective at solving the dilemma of if they stay in Plaguestone or continue on with the caravan. But he does catch himself and says nothing of the sort.

This gave me a GM giggle - when I saw you guys talking about staying because the mystery was so interesting, I was like, "Oh! How convenient!" :)

All good - just giving Baradim & Drake a chance to catch up before moving things along. :D Those nerds, having demanding jobs and stuff.

Indeed.

In thinking on it for a few months, I have an idea. We all like chronomancy to a certain extent. I think it works well at least.

Future chronomancy is hard because players don't know what is actually going to happen in the future. Past chronomancy is much easier.

So what might be useful is for the GM to sketch out the plot up to a certain break point in the future. Then the the players and NPCs can play out things up to that point in whatever order things come up.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea - especially when the school year starts back up. I have a few ideas as to how that could work. Lots of if/then statements. :) lol

Chronomancy has been troublesome in only one campaign I'm in - I think you (Finoan) follow the Skulls & Shackles like I follow Age of Ashes. It's only troublesome when people don't read the posts carefully and don't pay attention to the order of events (which happened a decent amount in S&S at the start). All of us are relatively experienced with it at this point.

I like it, though. It's easy to go back and re-order events when you have the posts right in front of you.

LOL. Software developer here. I love if/then statements. They can get hard to read though.

But it can also be as simple as:

* Play out the rest of the trip from the battle, getting into town, and entering the Feedmill tavern.
* Greet people in the Feedmill and sit around the table chatting for a while and eating. But not past dinner because reasons.
* Play things out until everyone goes to bed tonight.

If/then statements also work really well for classroom rules and expectations, haha. They're very clear, no question as to what you want students to do. Brings my autistic heart joy.

Nice - yes, I can do stuff like that in the future. Super simple.

Yes, I do.

The other scenario I have seen where it causes problems is if someone responds to something that was posted 30+ posts earlier, but doesn't quote anything or otherwise indicate what they are responding to. So it shows up without any context and gets really hard to associate back to where it goes.

Maybe I should make a word for this concept too.

Chronographing chrono- + cartography: mapping out a section of time in the future that the players can play in and know the plot of.

Chronography is a thing, and it's similar enough to your definition that it makes me happy, lol. Chronography is a description/record of past events. Your version is just of future events. Works.

Alright, make it so. Chronography is a thing now. We'll be trendsetters.

Lol! So wrong. Yet, so dang funny. ;)

Welp, 13 posts to catch up on. And Ashes game as well. I'm gambling on at least 5 of them being Fin's. Let's see...

Yeah. Probably.

Which is one of the reasons I propose putting bounds on how much I can do before having to wait for everyone else.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Hey! It actually was. Total lucky guess by the way. Hey, it's all good to me, bud. I'll catch up as best I can.

Yeah. I just feel like there is a difference between having 30+ posts to read and then inserting yourself into the current scene, and having 30+ posts to read and then having to rewind and try to insert yourself into three or four scenes that have already passed.

You know, you've got a point there. That would be quite difficult, I can't argue.

The map for Floors 1 & 2 should be visible now. I put your tokens in there just in case you wanted to move them around. In a moment I'll have tokens made for the guards and stuff and will place them.

Niss, I'll leave it up to you to decide if Fin sees you up there. I left plenty of options to explain why you wouldn't be seen. He was in his room for quite a while before he begins prowling, and regularly goes down the stairs for a minute or three.

Nah. I'll play it as that I can hear mumbling, but can't make out any actual words.

Niss may assume otherwise though...

I'm surprised you're not sticking your paws underneath the door and trying to get in. Crazy cats. ;)

Man, what's up with Fridays? lol. It's been super dead all day in all my campaigns!

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Yeah, Fridays are usually pretty slow on the boards for the most part.

Yeah. I have been stalking my two campaigns, but I don't have anything new to post for myself.

I'll be moving things to the morning when Baradim gets a chance to post!

Post took longer than I anticipated. Rough day. Let me know if I forgot any details in my information round-up.

I'm working on a post now, it's just taking some time because there's a lot of talking to myself as the GM.

Plus, my mother-in-law has been dragging me into the kitchen to approve of every decision about dinner she's making for some reason. Lol.

Hah.

Sorry. I don't have much in the way of suggestions for either problem.

I'm thinking that our schoolteacher GMs have started up classes again. Our districts started up today.

We don't start for another two weeks. Fern and I were hanging out IRL. She's fixing my MCU gaps. :)
