Handwaving the shopping sounds good. Just a quick blurb in gameplay that we stop by on the way out of town to commission any work that needs done and purchase anything that we want that is already available.
How expensive is this longsword? List price for a +1 Longsword should be 36gp. 1gp for the sword and 35gp for the +1 rune.
A +1 Striking Longsword should be 101gp.
Maybe the AP has a different list price?

So, we can sell things for half-price basically. It takes a day worth of work to transfer the runes from the kukri to another weapon. I could buy the Longsword but that will use up all of our party gold, my gold, and I'd need to borrow from someone.
The alchemical supplies was 50gp worth (if memory serves me right), so that'd be 25gp. The shadow rune would get us about 27.5gp. Each everburning torch goes for about 7.5gp. The dagger is 0.1 gold. .
The whetstone is super cheap and gives a +1 to damage on the first attack to hit if you use it on your weapon for 15 minutes. So is the hammer and short rope. Candles are even cheaper.
If we sold what was worthwhile, we'd get an additional 60gp. That also leaves us with one everburning torch. Handy to have when you're crawling down a tight tunnel in the dark and don't want to burn yourself :P
What do you all think?
Sounds good. Let's do it. I like the idea of keeping an everburning torch for sure.

I mispriced it. How do I find the prices for this stuff? This item stuff addles my already addled mind.
Finoan |
If there aren't any prices in the adventure book, I would just go off what it lists on the item description in the rulebooks. Which I find it easier to just look up online.
So Longsword lists 1gp. Most other nonmagical basic weapons are similar unless dealing with something exotic.
Weapon Runes are listed here. We probably can't afford many Striking runes yet, and it is probably a good idea to not let us have those until we are at least level 3.
In general, items above character level should be rather limited. That is where the game balance part comes into play. Items at level or slightly below should be available, but we probably can't afford many of them. Items noticeably below our level should be fairly cheap and easy to find if we know where to look.

So is the end price for something with a rune just the cost of the weapon plus the rune? I'm sorry I'm asking stupid questions, lol
Yes. That would be correct. :) And as far as I'm concerned, there are NO stupid questions when it comes to 2E. Not ever. Not all of us can be Caiten. ;)

Fern's IRL Conditions right now: Fatigued, Flat-Footed, and Slowed.
saaaaaaaaaaaame
And you know what the worst part about that is for you two rockin' ladies - who don't deserve such treatment and which I don't think is fair AT ALL - it's that there is NO SAVE. I mean, what kind of system is this?! Can't be Paizo. Probably some cheap, thrown-together, start-up system with iffy rules, who think they're being clever.
Just garbage it. It's not worth learning. ;)

And even I learned all of this from several years of playing games and discussing things on the rules forum. Not something that someone learns perfectly in a couple weeks.

As far as my shopping trip, I think all I am looking for at the moment is the transferring of the rune on the knife to handwraps. List price is 3.5gp to transfer the rune, plus the cost of the unenchanted handwraps, plus time.
So just round that up to 4gp?
I won't have those available until this evening though.

Also, unless someone else has something they want to play out, we might just have the scene cut to Noala leading us back to the edge of the blighted forest. That seems like a decent place to pick up actual gameplay.
Just have Fey do a quick narration of us meeting up with Noala and heading out.

Yeah, it's funny how I know 1E comfortably - still don't know it ALL but enough to be comfortable with it - but with 2E it feels like I barely know anything. I hate that feeling. But it's a blast! :P

Oh, and I am also fine with Baradim spending a bunch of the party funds on getting the sword.
We haven't been keeping terribly accurate records of how much we have been getting as loot, and not all of the loot has been shared. For example that +1 kukri.

Niss doesn't know how to spend money. I don't mean that in a third person way. She's never been given money before. She's never had to purchase things. So IC she has no interest in it. Like she took 5 g from that reward just because it was clear Delma would need it for room and board.
I mean really only thing she needs she has three of. ;)

HA! Man that's a good song! *Bobs left and right and taps his foot to the music as he sits in his chair* Okay, fine, but I'm only going to listen to it ONE more time. ;P

Baradim will happily take the sword if no one minds. We can also buy a potion or two, just to be sure to awaken the healers if they are taken down.

Snag it, bud! Oh yeah! Speaking of which, Drake WILL buy a Healers kit. Man, I almost forgot that. OH, and regular Theives' tools.
8 gold. I've adjusted Drake's gold. If either is not available, Fey, just let me know and I'll put whatever back I need to.

Baradim will eagerly buy the finely made weapon. I paid forty because giving the merchant that will be his wife is caring for him some profit is good.
I paid 36gp from the party fund for the healing potions. Baradim will carry one, I think Drake should carry one, and either Finoan or Niss should hold the last one.
Javell DeLeon |
Alright, sounds good. Drake will snag one.
And just for the record, that 62 gold that's in Drake's name, feel free to use that too. That's not all his. Like, 22 of it is "technically" his. But even still, if anyone needs it for something, all good to me if you need to use the whole thing. No worries whatsoever.
Also, Drake is about to invest in MORE hatchets. Now that he's got the cash for it. No reason. ;)

Fortunately (ish) bleed damage and other persistent damage happens at the end of Baradim's next turn, not immediately.
Edit: Actually, the software can do the math for me.
damage from one round from these bushes: 22 - 5 + 6 + 7 = 30
And then the 4 persistent damage after Baradim's turn.
Oh, and the shield would also take the rest of the damage from one of those attacks. So blocking the first attack would be 22 - 5 = 17 damage to the shield.
Finoan |
Wait - so the Bleed damage doesn't go into effect until next turn? Because if so, Baradim ISN'T down. Just going to be by the end of next turn
Correct. Persistent Damage doesn't happen immediately.
Finoan |
Well, OK. I'm also interested in what Baradim does.
My options:
* I just remembered that I have fire bombs clipped to my belt. The water damage was less than impressive - hoping fire damage does better.
* I can also use medicine to treat bleeding, but only on one character.
I'm not overly thrilled about wading into melee range of these things.

Noala made it pretty clear that she can't help with combat/dealing damage.
She will, however, be wading into the fray this round to assist with medical help.

Elves. As weak as their genetic structure :P
I was just curious. Wasn't sure if maybe we had been big-time deceived and she had been watching us gleefully die...
Wait a second. Are we totally sure she is an elf and not a half-elf? Eh? Ehhhhhh?

I've got some healing left. One big (potentially) one, plus my little flat heals for 6hp to each of you once before you're immune. Wanted to stop the bleeding first, and wasn't close enough to Drake to do it without stepping.
