"Ummm...why don't you turn yourself in? I'm sure since you're older and don't remember the court will have some mercy on you. The Society can tell them that you're not a threat!"
spoken as a "paladin" wanna be lol
cmlobue |
She seems a bit confused, but believes everything she is saying.
"Oh dear," she replies to Dirk. "I wouldn't worry about the authorities' mercy so much as their protection. I suspect some sort of accident would be arranged in custody."
Mazirek |
"Bah, she's right," Mazirek groans. "Let's just have the Society sort out what to do with her. We have our mission, they can worry about what happens after we've succeeded. No way the corporation is going to give her a fair trail, or possibly even let her get to that point."
"What's your master plan then? Have anything to help us fake your death?"
cmlobue |
To successfully fake Ceren’s death, you need to manipulate data to convince the station systems that Ceren is dead. They also need to provide a new identity for Ceren to take over. Computers will help with this, but there are other things you may need to do to fake her death convincingly. If you do not have the skills yourselves, you may be able to find professionals who will help.
While you work, Ceren has Jubair collect their most precious belongings while she goes into temporary hiding. She provides you with a location where they will meet in 6 hours: a bridge she enjoys in Jatembe Park.
Tuek the Kleptovoyant |
Tuek tries to recall someone in the "cleaning business", who may be able to help.

Little is surprised and a little disappointed that Jubair isn't the hacker, but he adapts quickly.
"On it. Death cert coming up."
He logs his computer into the infosphere and begins work to hack into the coroner's files.

"Um...are you sure we should be doing this?"
Dirk appears a bit nervous.
Darkvoid Batoidia |
"I understand your concerns with extra legal measures like this. If it helps, think of it as witness protection. Besides it's easy to make a record that says she's dead say that she's acutally alive. It's a lot harder to go from actually dead to actually alive... or so I'm told. Anyone have any ideas for how we can set her up with a job for her new identity?"
cmlobue |
You have a very official looking death certificate, which should stand up to scrutiny as long as no one goes looking for the associated body.

Darkvoid Batoidia |
"Anyone got an skills in the medical field? Maybe we could make a convicing fake from some cloned parts or something. In case someone came looking for something tangable to backup the death certificate."
Mazirek |
"You're quite the whiz with a computer, Little!" Mazirek admires. I've really got to get into tech more if I'm going to be a useful Agent. Too many practical uses and I can't guarantee that I'll just be in the wild anymore.
"I say we meet up with the newly deceased and get everyone back to the Society."
Darkvoid Batoidia |
Darkvoid tries to fabricate a cover identity.

"If nobody else has any bright ideas, I guess that will have to do."
Little Lendtech |
"So, she's dead now, but Ceren can't be walking around the station without papers. She needs a new persona. Does anybody have ideas about a new identity for her?"
Tuek the Kleptovoyant |
"I might know someone capable of drumming up some papers, maybe even a job for Ceren," Tuek suggests.

"If gardening is a passion of hers, being a gardener seems like a natural fit. It would be off to have a profession you couldn't speak knowledgeably about, no?" Mazirek suggests.
cmlobue |
You are making good progress with the identity, but there is still one issue that could come up - no one will know who this new person is. You will either need to find her a job (Profession) or introduce her to some people (Diplomacy).
You also still have the issue that the death certificate is not associated with a body...
Mazirek |
Does Tuek's Criminal Underworld knowledge help us out at all with achieving those things, GM? Particularly with the body, finding a corpse without making one sounds a bit challenging for at least two of the LG characters in the party!
cmlobue |
Possibly. It depends what you are willing to do to get the corpse and/or who you think could provide it.
Little Lendtech |
We could introduce her to Historia? Big bonus on that diplomacy roll! :-)
Anybody have contacts at a local business? Or off-station? Oh! What if we set her up as a visitor from off-station? Her paper trail would be shorter and easier to fake. We just have to hack into a passenger shipping line and get her on a passenger manifest.. No. we'd need to hack customs too to show her getting off ship. Anyody else have ideas?
cmlobue |
Putting their heads together, the agents think that a morgue employee may be able to provide a body. How you will convince them to go along with your plan is up to you.
Lendtech comes up with some ideas for creating a new life for Ceren, but someone must put the plans into practice.
Tuek the Kleptovoyant |
"Well, now. I may be able to do some convincing," Tuek says, nodding along with the verthani's plan.
Aware of some ysoki who may have access to bodies, Tuek approaches the Vat Garden in Absalom Station. "I understand that your enterprise provides fertile ground for a plan we have in mind. Why, we only need to borrow a body, really. Make a few, non-agricultural-impacting changes and then, we will request that the corpse be brought here for proper interment."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Later, he speaks with some contacts in an effort to introduce the not-truly-deceased to some people.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
cmlobue |
Tuek doesn't have much luck finding anyone who wants to be friends with Ceren, but he locates a mortician who may be willing to help. They will need some convincing, though. You can either Bluff to pose as a grieving relative and claim the body or offer a bribe of 60 credits.
Darkvoid Batoidia |

Darkvoid is the very image of the bereaved, and selects an unclaimed body as his "relative" (must be a distant relation). A bit more work on the computer, and this is officially Ceren's corpse.
Darkvoid Batoidia |
Darkvoid makes sure to record identifying information so he can track down anyone who might want to know about this persons passing in the future.
Little Lendtech |
Little stretches by interlacing his fingers and pushing his palms outward until his arms are straight. He logs back in and starts modifying records so Ceren and the corpse match more closely. "Ultimate disposal in the Vat Garden, right Tuek?"

"Right indeed!" Tuek agrees. "Although, I didn't receive the best reception when I went there last." As the ysoki shrugs, a rib bone falls out of pocket, which Tuek quickly snatches up and slips back into his pocket.

Dirk waits outside the morgue and walks in a circle nervously.

"Ugh, I hear you. This s+#! doesn't sit right with me either, but a jobs a job. We've got to do this now to show the Society we can be reliable, but I'll be speaking to to our superiors about this. No disrespect to our colleagues, but this isn't the sort of work I signed up for," Mazirek commiserates. "There is strength in numbers, want to do it together? Doesn't make this right, but at least we've done our part and can be kept from being assigned dodgy s+*$ in the future."

"I'm not normally one for this sort of skullduggery myself, but there's every chance some corperate agents would see an old woman whose mind is going dead for something she did in an altered state of mind. If this poor unclaimed soul can help us save her life it will be a good thing. Of course we still need to find this woman a job."
cmlobue |
Any further attempts to improve Ceren's new identity?
Little Lendtech |
Computers is all Lendtech has to offer. What can I come up with??
Little sits down and tries to create a social media profile for a possible new Ceren identity. He mumbles phrases to himself while he works.
"Lauren Butterfield. Widowed 5 months. Housekeeper. Just returned from cruise to Verces. Loved the Shubu and the River of Returning Joys. ..."

At the appointed time, the Starfinders enter Jatembe park. Filled with lush trees and open grass fields, the park offers some natural terrain to the otherwise metal-clad station. Ceren’s meeting point is one such forested portion of the park, specifically a spot often ignored by citizens due to the winding path required to reach it.
However, when they arrive, they find a group of thugs surrounding Ceren. They warn you to stay out of their business.
