The Dragon's Demand (with guest DM)

Game Master dickie

Roll20 Page

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hye everyone! I'm looking for two players to replace some who recently had to step away from a Dragon's Demand game I am running.

The characters are still very early in the story, so it's a great time to get involved.

Now this is a little confusing, but
this thread contains the original build rules!

I volunteered to take this game over until such te as the original GM returns (if that ever happens...) and that is why the recruit thread is for a different game page and GM.

So if you're interested, post/dot here. Recruitment will be open for five days from the time of this post, or until a total of four characters meeting the original criteria are posted, whichever comes first.

Who do they have right now? Well, just the quick glance: a human barbarian, a half-elf cleric of Erastil, and a Dwarf druid.

Any other questions, just fire away!

I would like to resubmit this character, Luthion, that I submitted to the original thread.

I recognize that a skill monkey or arcane caster will probably have a better shot at being selected than an archery fighter. <shrug> Not what I WANT to submit, so . . ..

Hey, go with what you wanted to run! No telling who else is going to try with what sort of character, and you can get in right away with the submission, lol!

Silver Crusade

Dotting to look into another day (bed time here).

Clarification question "No occult" The classes themselves. Or are divine and arcane options barred (likewise the psychic version of other classes are denied).
Still level 1 then, wasn't sure given that it sounded like an in progress game.

and a total party of 7 player characters?

Easy question first: the total party size I'm shooting for is 5. We had one not fully make it over from the original GM's thread, and two others left recently back-to-back due to IRL pressures. That leaves us with three who are pretty active, the barb, cleric, and druid.

The other question is tougher due to the fact that even though I doubt the original GM will return, I am still working as if I'm just filling in.

I'm okay with archetypes that add some occult stuff since they don't largely impact the mechanics. I believe the original intention, however, was to keep a pretty "classic high fantasy sword and sorcery" story filled with somewhat traditional-ish high fantasy characters. I will be making selections based on that idea, so I'd try and avoid deviating too much from that theme/feel.

The characters are technically level one still, but once I'm done with some bookkeeping the current trio should be second. Its fine to build either 1st or 2nd level for submissions.

I cannot help but throw my hat in here.

"Avogadro the Astounding. Conjuror of tricks, cheap or extravagant. Master of awe and the sublime. At the service of you and yours. Assuming our departure will be imminent and with the upmost haste? Avogadro has need to be elsewhere..."

Avogadro is probably my favourite character idea I've made but every game he's been in has been very short lived. He recently very nearly made it to Belhaim on a wagon... and then the game folded!

@GM. I am playing Sokkla in your Shattered Star game. If you want to disqualify me here because I got into that game then I completely understand. But I had to try, Avogadro needs to meet a Dragon!

I'm interested. I'll be submitting a rogue. One question, how do you wish to do wealth for 2nd level characters?

I'll have to ponder.

I have been mostly interested in playing a phantom blade spiritualist. Since. Which is occult even if I flavor it different.

I'll ponder a bit and see if anything strikes me.

Is the Barb chained or unchained?

This is stormraven, submitting Ritti Rallo... She's 90% complete pending some tweaks based on Feat Taxes, an answer on the question of starting funds for 2nd level characters, and her background which I am working on right now.

EDIT: Background and Personality added. If you or the other players have any questions, let me know.

Thanks!

The Barb is unchained, the cleric has slightly pointy ears, and the Druid has a pig.

Mightypion wrote:

Unchained.

stormraven wrote:

Yeah, it's interesting that this adventure can end being pretty Monty Haul, but actually starts slow. My beat estimate is that 2nd level new characters should start with original starting wealth for level 1 plus 500gp.

Cool. I’ll do her gear based on 500 + 1st lv base. Thanks!

Ritti is complete. If I got anything wrong, let me know.
Thanks for considering her.

Dot! Cool to hear from you again Dickie. Let me put something new together again...

Question: Would you allow a VMC? (Variant Multi-Class)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I'd like to put forward Vanaira Makanya, an elven wizard (divination specialist). She's only built for level 1 right now, but I didn't want to wait with the tight deadline for this application. Will have more than enough time to level up properly if selected though.

Heyas! So this is another question where I have to balance the original DM's vision with mine, lol. I personally feel like VMC is sort of a customizable archetype and it can cost a lot more than it provides, so I'm typically okay with it.

And I'll say its okay. So long as the choice/character still matches the high fantasy theme (and I think those rules predate and did not later include occult/psychic powers so should be okay). Should I have to turn the game back over to the original DM, they may want that remediated or retrained in some way...

Side note, the "four max" submissions was sort of ad hoc on my part, I would still consider up to six submissions before I say "okay, I can't consider any more because the choice is always hard!" =P

I will be bowing out, I like doing complex builds, and with core only I add in something and then forget its non core :).

lol. I have a Sorceress with a pig familiar so props to the Druid!

Quick abjuration wizard I whipped up. Still need to figure out equipment/backstory/name/alignment, and will probably want to fiddle around with spells/skills based on party.

Gnomish Abjuration Wizard

Personality:

Bit of a worrywart. Says they'd rather be at home where you can lock your doors and be safe, but if people are out adventuring, they suppose they'd better go out and keep an eye on things.

I'll pop out too.i can't think of one I'd like to be

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I had some time today so bump Vanaira up to level 2. Haven't rolled for HP, or spent all my money since I wasn't sure if I could pre-craft some scrolls or not. But aside from that, all done.

Spitter here!

I have revamped an older character to try her again.

Aleksara Darkeye is a Ranger with a sword to grind. Literally!
(She's a weapon smith!)
=)

Got some time to kill, so…

Luthion (hustonj) – Align?, Elf, Fighter (Archer)
Avogadro the Astounding (Louxman) – CN, Human, Sorcerer (Arcane)
Ritti ‘Red’ Rallo (stormraven) – CG, Human (Varisian), uRogue
Vanaira Makanya (bookworm422) – NG, Elf, Wizard (Diviner)
Name TBD (rabscuttle) – Align?, Gnome, Wizard (Abjurer)
Aleksara Darkeye (Spitter Snagscale) – CG, Half-Elf, Ranger (Archer) VMC: Sorcerer

Apologies if I got any deets wrong. I wasn't looking through the character sheets exhaustively.

Let's go ahead and close submissions here for now so I can take some time to check things out. Thank you everyone, will update when I can, but just a warning middle of the week can be my slowest posting.

You know, looking back over the post, I don't think I did include an alignment for Luthion.

I almost always play Good, though.

Let's say NG.

name/alignment/background added

Norie "Ma" Hanklethorn: LN Gnome Abjuration Wizard

Background:

Norie's parents were not the most careful of gnomes. As experimental alchemists, they were always messing around with dangerous compounds that inevitably resulted in mysterious fires, acid eating through furniture and floorboards, and the occasional mild explosion. They soon found their young daughter was insisting on various safety rules around their house (which they started following after a less mild explosion that took out a wall or two)

As Norie grew up, she took to wizardry as it seemed a lot more structured than the chaos of her homelife. Her experience with fashioning makeshift helmets and shields led her into the business of crafting armor and she soon found employment in a smithy, where her craftsmanship was appreciated enough to outweight her insistance on pointing out the dangers inherent in nearly every conversation.

FWIW, Rabscuttle, I think you miscalculated your CMB. If (big IF) I'm reading the EitR rules correctly... since you use a finesse weapon (dagger), your CMB should use your DEX not your STR, for a total CMB of +1, not -2:

Formula wrote:
BAB: (+0); Strength: (-1); Dexterity (+2); Size: (-1) Small

Looks like it depends on which version of the rules. Latest(?) version replaces Agile Maneuvers with Agile Combatant, which states that normally you can use DEX & finesse for Trip, Disarm, Sunder. But I think first version just had it for all maneuvers. Probably a moot point as I'm not going to be using maneuvers much anyway.

Yeah, the third (and final?) version of EitR makes small changes across the board. Including they brough Point Blank Shot back but kept Precise Shot as the pre-req for all the other archery feats, with PBS being a dead-end option.

Still didn't expand out and cover any of the additional rules material, though. So, whether or not the roll-up feats should include material from other books or not is a table/GM decision.

Nothing's perfect.

Too true.

Reorganizing while we wait:

Boomsticks
Luthion (hustonj) – NG, Elf, Fighter (Archer)
Aleksara Darkeye (Spitter Snagscale) – CG, Half-Elf, Ranger (Archer) VMC: Sorcerer

Spellslingers
Avogadro the Astounding (Louxman) – CN, Human, Sorcerer (Arcane)
Vanaira Makanya (bookworm422) – NG, Elf, Wizard (Diviner)
Norie ‘Ma’ Hanklethorn (rabscuttle) – LN, Gnome, Wizard (Abjurer)

Randos
Ritti ‘Red’ Rallo (stormraven) – CG, Human (Varisian), uRogue

So I guess with an elf being the cleric, I am going to have to try and figure out something else.

To late to edit, but GM Dickie, would you be adverse to a minor wonderous item - The travellers anytool ?

working on redoing my cleric submission from the previous attempt, to a ranger.

And once again, I see the submissions are closed by the time I noticed the thread. :(

Sorry for being slow here, got reading to do and managing new characters in another game as well so just give me a little longer, want to be sure here because this poor game has had a few hiccups from just bad luck and it has a lot of potential.

This is honestly my leaat favorite part of any PbP. I always want to take pretty much everyone!

I've been going back and forth on the arcane offerings, TBH. But I think Vanaira fills the overall feel better. Same with the ranger Ranged over the fighter ranged,, this group leans a little more in the nature-y direction. Ritti's more urban, but I think the rogue is super helpful.

So Vanaria, Aleksara, and Ritti please jump into discussion when you're ready.

Seriously, hustonj, I'm making a note of your user name and PMing the next time I start something, I feel bad you missed out twice in a row!

Don't be sorry, DM Dickie. I play the numbers game, applying to everything that I think I'll enjoy when I want to add a game. After this selection, I'm still up and participating in 2 other recruitment threads.

Watching others get picked up to play is part of the process.

I want everyone on the boards to be able to have fun.

I hope this group does.

Go get your Dragon folks, good hunting!
