Manny opens the door (So tempted to paint a picture like in those Looney Tunes where the door actually opens drawbridge style instead of the usual way -- like Wile E Coyote getting flattened... :)).

This large room normally serves as a lounge, but all of the couches, chairs, tables, and other furniture have been pushed against the walls to maximize space in the center of the room.

It's apparent that the three unfriendly individuals are some sort of delaying force. What they're delaying is anyone's guess, but they're not happy to see you...

Talia carefully considers her options. Upon seeing Marigold attack she shrugs. Grabbing the starknife on her side she awkwardly exclaims,"Yeah what she said.... Catch this!!!"

Talia hurls her starknife at Green. It barely connects but bounces off and doesn't appear to do much damage, if at all. Marigold sends a fireball at Blue but it flies over his head.

Red runs up to the group and pokes at Manny and Marigold in turn.

Seeing that this might be her only opportunity to strike all 3 of their foes down with her magic, Avonatha pulls out some bat guano from a spell component pouch and concentrates as she begins to chant in the language of magic, a language that she knows very well.

Avonatha hurls a small pea of flame into the center of the trio of enemies. The pea explodes in the middle of their foes. All three manage to dive aside, with both Red and Blue emerging slightly singed. Green doesn't appear to be affected at all.

Green appears to be waving a cape around itself. It vanishes from sight into a ball of darkness. It then charges at Manny and Marigold and strikes with its staff at: 1-Manny 2-Marigold: 1d2 ⇒ 1

Manny sends his whip against green. The end of the whip coils around Green's legs. With another yank, Manny sends Green tumbling to the floor. Manny heals himself while Talia moves up and strikes at the helpless Green, overkilling it.

The thing only had 5 hp left... your attack was a crit so every other Green wannabe felt that! :)

The thing was a construct, with armor, which is why some of your attacks had no effect. Manny's Blistering Invective obviously doesn't work on something w/o a mind! :)

Talia moves up, close on Blue and put her sword through Blue's back, killing him.

COMBAT OVER!

With the battle over, you move into the library and find the area in disarray, with papers and tomes scattered all over the room. The initial shock and confusion of the scene buys Marcien the last precious seconds he needs to escape. An Onyx Alliance mage completes their casting of shadow walk, allowing the remaining Alliance members to immediately step into the Shadow Plane and retreat to Shadow Absalom—but not before you catch a glimpse of Marcien Blakros (Slide 2). The Onyx Alliance members drop several documents in their haste to retreat.

Toldrar soon tracks you down. "The Grand Lodge is secure. You may rest for a bit while my team and I investigate exactly what occurred today."

Within a day or so, Toldrar finds you again and debriefs you and shares his findings. "The attack on the Grand Lodge was completely stopped, thanks in no small part to your efforts. I'm not entirely clear as to how the attackers arrived at the Grand Lodge, a preliminary investigation suggests the use of magic akin to shadow walk. The Grand Lodge’s wards account for teleportation of several kinds, but not the specific type of shadow magic used by the Onyx Alliance, a detail that I plan to correct immediately. Luckily, my security teams were able to apprehended number of intruders, which confirm that the Onyx Alliance were indeed behind the attack. Those sneaks you convinced to surrender gave up the Onyx Alliance name. I don't know the full intent of the intrusion just yet, but I hope to learn the information in the coming days. Unfortunately, most of the agents seem to be under the effects of a powerful enchantment that prevents them from sharing many details about the Onyx Alliance or their leader, but I was able to learn that an individual named Marcien Blakros directed the attack. The documents Marcien left behind were all related to Pathfinder lodges across the Inner Sea.
